The Phoenix
 8 March 2018

Below is my script, which I had delivered in my club level contest of Toastmaster International speech contest. For the knowledge of the readers, I would like to say that Toastmasters International (TI) is a US headquartered nonprofit educational organization that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of helping members improve their communication, public speaking, and leadership skills. Writing stories and writing scripts for speeches are two different things. In speeches, the speaker has to take the challenge to involve her audience throughout the speech and she has to communicate everything within 7 mins of her talk. Audience may lose interest if the opening is not good and if the script timing goes beyond 7 mins, then audience may feel bored. So, this script provides some guidelines to a speaker.... Hope the readers will enjoy it:Title: The phoenixOpening:4th Jan1986, Odisha, a girl was born with lots of dreams in her eyes. Dreams to be the best daughter to her parents  …. Dreams to be the best Engineer the world has ever seen….dreams to bring a change in the nation …. Dreams to do the best of her life …. N  Dreams to be a wonderful wife……………………Everything was going fine as planned until 2014 when this girl caught a disease ………….. her dreams started dying, her faith in love started dying, her trust for her parents started losing and worst of all , she even thought of ending it……Eventually After 2 years of struggle  that sweet innocent girl ……died a suffocating death.Body:Good afternoon Honorable Contest Chair, fellow toastmasters and dear guests. In one of those chilly evening on November 2016, she was reborn as an independent woman with self-respect, one who takes her own decisions ……4 years back, life had put her at a turning point where one decision that she took made her disgrace for everyone……… worse even disgrace to her parents. What was that one wrong decision that changed her life………….? What was that disease that killed her happiness…??Her mistake was she decided to say no to domestic violence after marriageShe decided to not tolerate her drunkard husband’s beatings every night, she decided to not tolerate her father in law stopping her to talk to her family members, she decided not to ask her parents for more dowry, she decided not to tolerate her mother in law’s giving her high voltage electric shocks. She had lost her mental peace and freedom, which had huge negative impact on her professional career. How difficult to bear all those? How painful those moments were?? Losing individuality and living means a spiritless life with a moving physical body, that means you are living like a dead body!!!When she looked back to get the ANegative Situation Wisely Experiencing Reversal she could see that she had very little control over what happened. The seasons of her experience had to run their course – severe winter storms, cold and darkness, then the seeds hidden from within started beginning to sprout (very exciting!). The best she could do was ride the waves, which she did with varying degrees of success. She saved all her strength to swim with the tide and to flow with the grace that washed through her days, raising all her quills to defend against invaders. She took this on faith. All she used is a pair of eyes unblinkered by fear, apprehension and prejudice. Fighting with herself went on in each and every moment, hour and day, to come out from her demon created by herself since her birth. To come out from the attitude to care about ‘what will people say?’Transformation was not sweet and bright. It was dark, murky, painful and pushing. A practice in facing our own created demons.  A complete uprooting, before becoming. She turned her demons into art, her fears into fuel, her mistakes into teachers and her weaknesses into reasons to keep us fighting. She did not waste her pain, instead recycled her heart!!!Situation in life might had defeated her, burnt her, insulted her, injured her and abandoned us. But,  they will not, shall not and cannot destroy her, like a Phoenix she knows how to surrect. Lakshmi Agarwal, JK Rowling, Muniba Mazari and many more are the phoenixes who emerges from the ashes….Now, after 4 yrs, she can see herself as an independent woman who spreads her messages on how to fight with themselves among those women who try to commit suicide due to various reasons whether she is a rape survivor or has become physically disabled and lost her confidence to live her life. She says them “We do not need magic to transform our world. We carry all of the power we need inside ourselves already. The world is full of wonderful things you havenot seen yet. Don’t ever give the chance of seeing them. You are not a victim, you are a survivor. The man who attacked you will cover his face. You wont. While we women get busy in playing our predefined roles, we forget to love ourselves, we forget our worth and we don’t realize that there is so much more we can do for ourselves and for the people around us.”Conclusion:Ladies and Gentlemen,As said by Lao Tzu “New beginnings are disguised as painful endings.”What’s perceived as painful and undesirable, often paves the way for something better – and if not better, at least different. In difference, lies life’s momentum and progress. Traumatic occurrences always have a disguised positive side to them. Hidden opportunities make us more determined and fills us with life-preserving energy. Until we’re jolted out of our peaceful slumber, no epoch event can be expected to happen.Desire changes Nothing, Decision changes Something. But Determination changes Everything.Desire changes Nothing, Decision changes Something. But Determination changes Everything.Over to Emcee…

Stepping out of my cocoon
 2 March 2018

“Hello dad, my internship location is a different city, 2000 kilometres away! My friends are planning to book train tickets and it will take nearly 36 hours to reach.” I was blabbering on the phone standing in the corridor outside my classroom. I was expecting my dad to say, “Never mind. Both of us will book our flight tickets, I will take you there, meet your office people, book you a hostel for two months, talk to the hostel warden, check food facilities and everything else and ensure that you are in the best of your comfort zone.” Instead, he said, “Yes, go ahead. You also book your ticket along with your friends.” I was frozen for a minute. “But dad, it is a 36 hour long journey!” I said. “Yes, that’s okay. If your friends don’t want to go by air, you go with them by train. It will be fun.” He tried to comfort me. I stood there for another few minutes wondering how I would manage all of it on my own. I had never stepped out of home without my parents’ guidance and that was my cocoon I refused to step out of.Now, I was being given only 18 days to prepare myself for this 2 month long journey far away from home. My batch mate booked train tickets for 5 of us who were going and I was glad that at least I escaped one task. I was extremely nervous. 18 days passed with the blink of an eye. The away-from-home mission started with the train journey, the second of my life so far. But like my friends and my parents had said, the journey was fun. 5 of us immediately bonded and endured our 36 hours playing dumb charades and other games. We reached early morning and stepping foot on a different land comprising of different people, speaking a different language and most importantly, me being away from my parents was like being on an expedition for me.But now, when I recollect those days, I feel those were among the best days of my life and I cherish each memory I have of that place. Roaming on the streets with luggage and hunting for a hostel, negotiating with the hostel warden for the fee and settling my things in the wardrobe were the first few things I did on my own. At home, I was a spoilt child and had never entered the kitchen except for taking food or keeping my utensils in the sink. In the hostel, besides taking food from the kitchen, I washed my utensils, packed mine and my friend’s lunch and even warmed milk on the stove in the middle of a night for a friend who had hurt her foot and couldn’t walk. I even learnt to wash clothes, iron them, withdraw money from a bank, go grocery shopping, interact with people not knowing my language and so many other things I couldn’t have done staying in my own city at my own home.At the internship, my boss assured me that it was a safe city and I could travel around for events and work. I managed to do 18 events in the two months, a number the company was yearning to reach in the two years they had been operating for. Everybody appreciated my work at office.I learnt to not only take care of my own self but of my friends too. They had started teasing me by calling me mommy, the one who was always worried if everybody was eating well, was in their respective rooms before the deadline at night, was reaching office on time, etc. I also became the accounts in charge for the 5 of us, who owed whom how much and why, I kept a record of all of it.Being a strong and chirpy girl most of the time, at some other times I broke down too, on the day of my childhood friend’s wedding when I could not be her bridesmaid, when my grandmother suffered a minor heart attack and I couldn’t be there beside her bed and sometimes, just like that, not knowing why.But overall, I am glad that I went there stepping out of my cocoon. I learnt a lot of household chores, a lot from my internship, made a lot of new friends and most importantly, learnt a lot about my own self!

Bhagavad Gita Verse 3.19
 25 September 2019

Throw Yes And No - In Gita Verse 3.19 Therefore, without being attached to the fruits of activities, one should act as a matter of duty, for by working without attachment one attains the Supreme.Krishna here explains regarding freedom to act. When you have desire for fruits in your act you will find bondage. You will be suffocating in your action. Because of your desire for the result, fruits.Experience Freedom, Space, and Meaning:Non-attachment gives us the freedom, space, and time to contemplate the true meaning of life, while attachment distracts us from reality. It influences how we perceive and react to our immediate world, since a world of excess leads to a roller coaster of highs and lows. This in turn motivates us to seek out more of those high moments of pleasure. We enter into a hedonistic world of want-fulfilment which creates further wanting in an attempt to bring lasting happiness. There are three kinds of freedom. One is 'freedom from'; that is a negative freedom: freedom from the father, freedom from the mother, freedom from the church, freedom from the society. That is a negative kind of freedom — freedom from — good in the beginning, but that can't be the goal. Once you are free from your parents, what are you going to do? Once you are free from your society then you will be at loss. You will lose all meaning and significance because your whole life had meaning in saying no. Now whom to say no to??This is 'freedom from'. This is not much of a freedom, but better than nothing. The second kind of freedom is 'freedom for'; that is positive freedom. Your interest is not in denying something, rather you want to create something. For example, you want to be a poet, and just because you want to be a poet you have to say no to your parents. But your basic orientation is that you want to be a poet and your parents would like you to be a plumber. "Better be a plumber! That is far more paying, far more economical, far more respectable too. Poet?!People will think you are crazy! And how are you going to live? And how are you going to support your wife and your children? Poetry can't pay!"But if you are for poetry, ready to risk all, this is a higher freedom, better than the first. It is positive freedom — 'freedom for'. Even if you have to live a life of poverty you will be happy, you will be cheerful. Even if you have to chop wood to remain a poet you will be utterly blissful, fulfilled, because you are doing what you wanted to do, you are doing your own thing. This is positive freedom. And then there is a third freedom, the highest; in the East we have called it MOKSHA — the ultimate freedom, which goes beyond both the negative and the positive. First learn saying no, then learn saying yes, and then just forget both, just be. The third freedom is not freedom against something, not for something, but just freedom. One is simply free — no question of going against, no question of going for. 'Freedom from' is political, hence all political revolutions fail — when they succeed. If they don't succeed they can go on hoping, but the moment they succeed they fail, because then they don't know what to do.That happened in the French Revolution, that happened in the Russian Revolution…that happens to every revolution. A political revolution is 'freedom from'. Once the Czar is gone, then you are at a loss: What to do now? Your whole life was devoted to fighting the Czar; you know only one thing, how to fight the Czar. Once the Czar is gone you are at a loss; your whole skill is useless. You will find yourself very empty.  'Freedom for' is artistic, creative, scientific. And 'just freedom' is religious.Just freedom, neither for nor against, NETI NETI, neither this nor that, but pure freedom, just the fragrance of freedom — before you learn, you will have to know the positive one: 'freedom for'.Hence the satsang, Guru, like minded people, commune. It needs creative commune; to be creative in a thousand and one ways. In every possible way everyone are going to be creative, so that you can learn how to say yes to life. When the yes has destroyed your no, both can be thrown away. That is the ultimate in joy, in freedom, in realization.Krishna tells Arjuna be free of yes and no both so you can act without attachments of the fruits. Once you will act from this freedom you are self-realized, Supreme. You will have freedom in your action and not bondage.

Childhood-The best part of our lives
 28 June 2018

Everyone in this world was once a child and had gone through the phrase of Childhood. It's been that part of life where everyday was memorable, unforgettable, innocent and the best days of life. After growing up we realised that childhood days were the best days of our life, that's why everyone wants to go back to their childhood days. They were the days when there were no worries, no tremendous work load, no thinking about what others might think. Free from all these extra added problems in life. It seems to almost everyone that life was easier then, we don't have have stress, we live a peaceful life in which we were taken care by our parents and our elders. We don't think about our futures, we don't have the fear of getting judged by other people, we make friends from our heart without judging anyone's family background. Childhood is fresh Life and non corrupted. Those were the days with innocent attitude, we used to run play and enjoy every moment of our life.We used to forget the fights in few hours, no sorrows only happines. The only tension we had at that time was of homework nothing else. Relatives used to gift us, we learnt to be brave, stronge, we had our own world with no responsiblities at all. On the same time were very active and weren't obsessed with mobile/laptop.No job,No Money, no tension, free food, free hugs n kisses, bedtime stories. Eat,play,sleep......and then repeat we don't do care about anything else. You do not care how you look, what people think about you. You can play in mud without caring about your clothes, you can cry loudly anytime anywhere. We dont have any responsibilities and, the amount of care and affection towards us is so high and the major thing is that we are not blinded by money which is mere entity that cause the differences in the society. We're taken care by our parents, and elders, we're dependent on them we don't have to care for ourselves. Our hearts we're pure, unadulterated and simple. We're completely unawared from the materialistic world that was existing outside the walls. We have tensions in that period of our lives as well but they're just about studies Tensions of not finding my classwork copy just before the day of the weekly test, Tension of holidays ending and the holiday homeworks still pending. We love to get surrounded by our family, we feel secured, happy and love to get their attention. Childhood is the best part of our lives.

Preparing Your Child For Kindergarten
 12 November 2019
Art

All children have different personalities, so it really is difficult to predict how each one is going to react to going to the first day of kindergarten. Some children will walk off without so much as a backward glance at their parents. In this situation, it's usually much harder on the parent than it is on the actual kindergartener. However, sometimes the child has a more difficult time letting go, and the parents may need some advice on how to best prepare them for their first day of school. Most importantly, begin talking about the fact that your child will be going to school far in advance, to get him used to the idea. Bring it up in casual conversation without making a big deal out of it. Try to speak matter of factly about it, as if it is simply a natural progression, and the next step in your child's life. Sometimes, you may want to mention some of the fun things that your child will get to do in kindergarten, but some children will see through this tactic and may feel that you are trying to trick them. For those children, it is best to stick with the matter of fact approach. In the months leading up to the first day of school, make sure that your child has opportunities to be apart from you on a regular basis. Play dates with other children, visits to family members with other children to play with, neighborhood play, or even staying with a babysitter from time to time, will all help your child become more comfortable with the idea that he will survive without you.As the first day approaches, ask your child if he would like to take something from home with him to the first day of school. Something like a small token or stuffed animal can be easily tucked into a backpack, and may give your child that added comfort that he or she is looking for.If your child is visibly stressed, don't embarrass or punish them. Don't try to force them to relax or to not be anxious. These tactics will only make the anxiety worse. Instead, tell your child that what they are feeling is normal, and it is OK to have those feelings. Assure them that you will help them deal with their feelings so that they can learn how to become calmer about going to school. Speak with their teacher privately so that the teacher knows your concerns. Usually, if you can get your child into the classroom, and the teacher can engage him or her in an activity, you can say goodbye and they will adjust comfortably.

BY WHOM I AM INSPIRED
 30 January 2018

I am inspired by every step of my life, every moments of nature and every natural object. Moreover, I am inspired by my failure. I think getting inspired at every moment is in the subconscious mind of everybody. When a child starts walking, he falls many times before its success. At the dawn I think ah! There is again another new hope after a dark night. The bright light of Sun ray and the calm beams of moon inspire me to be impartial to everybody. When I see the flying birds, the animals gazing in the field, I think they are having nothing with them. Still they do not deviate from their nature. So, why should I, where I have a roof on my head, a monthly salary to meet my basic needs? The same thing I think in my office (which is a small cabin, where there is no electricity). In the midsummer, when day to day life is disturbed due to excess heat, I do manage by a small hand fan to avoid sweating. But at the same time when I see the trolley pullers with load of vegetables or groceries or some other things, I get inspired. My situation looks negligible before them. When I do listen the song of calmness and sound of quietness in the darkness of night my heart fills with pleasure. I feel the beauty of night. The fragrance of scented flowers fills my heart with pleasure. If there is no darkness, how could these beauties of nature would have come? A red ant gathers food for the rainy season; small white ants could make an anthill. So, why can not I struggle? My parents inspired me in every step of my life. They always tell me to march forward, not to look behind. My siblings give the assurance of their presence at every step of my life. And the sentence, “I am with you” being told by my dear one gives me the feeling that I am not alone. There are so many inspiring hands with me.The flowing river tells me that I have a great aim ahead to meet. If there is power in the small wing of the birds to touch the sky, why not my strong legs could march forward? If the tiny droplets can make a large ocean, if the little sands help to make a big desert, why can not I helpful for the society?Last but not the least I am inspired by my failure. Because failure is the pillar stone of my success. My mother always tells that Bheemas (a character of Mahabharata, one among the Pandavas) are defeated in the first war. In my course of life, when I meet with failure at any time, the voice of my parents inspired me to march forward, in the hope of betterment in future.

Dear Zindagi
 10 April 2018

“DeAr ZiNdAgi” Yes !!! what could be more beautiful, precious, lovable & valuable thing in the world other than 'Life' or 'Zindagi'. Dear Friends, we often tend to run so fast in life, that we have no time to stop & when we realize it’s too late to turn back. We hold loads of grudges # sufferings # pain # complains # unspoken words # un expressed love & much more from being child to being adult & that makes us to stay in the nutshell from which we do not want to step out coz of fear to get hurt again, to face people, to tackle same problems & same circumstances again. We keep running away from our-self, & we start living a life that makes us unhappy at times. Life is too short & all we have is only one life so, we should not let our past bad experience haunt & spoil are present. There are many who do not have good relationship with parents, with siblings & of course wife & husband, but each broken things can be fixed if we make efforts & know how to fix them. Being child we were too immature to understand things, situations, parents, siblings, friends, etc, but now that we have grown up we must learn to accept that all people make mistakes knowingly & unknowingly but we should give them a chance & forgive them. The people that make you unhappy let them go away from your life & you need not to regret. The people that make you happy, that motivates you, encourages you, understands you, listens to your heart, loves you should be valued & should never take them for granted.Speak out as and when need, instead of burying your unspoken words & feelings inside your heart. Our heart does not have habit of carrying such a heavy load. Our heart is precious & should be kept peaceful & happy to enjoy every second & minute of our life.Nothing holds us back except I Me & Myself. Learn to live in present & learn to change your present by improving in all little ways that you can that can make you & you life happy & joyful. Mistakes is our best teacher, so keep falling & keep learning but when you get up learn to move forward in life without turning the pages of unhappy past. You are the writer of you own life, so make the most beautiful painting out of it & give the Title “Love you Zindagi”We shld not feel ashamed of talking on our mental stress, depression, & feeling of being alone to our friends, families & dear ones. Dnt simply live life. Learn to live healthy stress free life. If you are happy frm within, you will see more happiness around you to feel & enjoy. If you are mentally stress free & happy it will help u to forget your past, you will live in present, do enjoy the company of yourself, love yourself, appreciate yourself & make your heart free like butterflies. #smblogcontest

Summertime Food Allergies
 11 November 2019

Summer is a great time to go out and eat certain foods because that is when they are made and are at their peak. Unfortunately, summer food allergies pop up. Traditional treats become a threat when you least expect it, especially with children. Six percent of all children have a food allergy and most likely can be affected in the summer. Parents can't be too careful because of the severe symptoms they produce, which is harsh, like in the spring and fall. Here are some of those allergy-inducing foods.First off, there's the nut allergy which would be most likely to continue in adults. This allergy is triggered in the summer because of the number of nuts consumed in the summer as snacks and placed in recipes. For children, they can be put on ice cream and pie. They are part of some methods that, unless you are aware of having an allergy, people won't read the ingredients list, and the symptoms come out. Another typical summer allergy is milk, which affects 2.5 percent of all children under the age of 3.It should be noted that it differs from lactose intolerance. To avoid it, cut out any cheese in sandwiches and drinks where milk is used. A substitute would be soy products. The fruit is another favorite summer snack that unfortunately leads to allergies. Being around a farmer's market is a rough place for those with it, and it's one of those things where a child eats something that triggers their allergy. This is related to pollen because fruits have similar proteins, which don't go away even after cleaning them. This includes strawberries, apples, peaches, bananas, pears, and cherries are among those who are like pollen. This extends to citrus, which is more about intolerance to it, but the consumption of lemon, lime, and orange needs to be watched out for.How to counter it is something found at children's parties. Pizza is cheap and delicious food children holds that every person enjoys. The issue with regular pizza is another allergy: gluten. They have also become very common in children, and the awareness of it has become evident for every person recently. It goes in well with the rise of gluten-free foods, including the crust of a pizza. The alternative to a coat, as well as alternative toppings that keep them away from dangerous foods, is open to various mixes and parents can go online to see what will children like. Symptoms of gluten allergies include bloating, rashes, and headaches.Summer is a beautiful time because it's hot and sunny and the children are free from school. It is the period that yells to family to go out, take a vacation, and have fun. The children are at their most excited. Camping, swimming, boating; the activities are limitless. However, it does expose the possibility of a summer allergy, which can be a surprise. Be aware of what children can and can't eat to prevent the worst reactions so summer can always be fun.preschool playground equipment | outdoor playground equipment

StoryMirror in conversation with Naman Chatterjee

Please give details about your initial education and forming years of life.I have recently turned 13 and am moving to 8th grade. I have been born and brought up in Gurgaon, Delhi NCR. I started my schooling and continue to be at Shikshantar – a place where I can be ‘me’. From my early days, I have been fascinated by all kinds of cars – that’s what even my teachers from idiscoveri preschool remember about me. As I am growing up, this has become a passion – I am an avid fan of all kinds of car racing – F1, Formula E, Moto GP etc. I enjoy a variety of music and sports - from the age of 6, I started learning tennis & piano and they have gradually become an important part of my routine. I have fun playing games on the Xbox and PS4. And…as expected, I can remain engrossed in books for hours!!! How did you get interested in literature? What inspired you to write?   My parents always encouraged me to spend time with books. I remember listening to a wide variety of amusing stories in Hindi, English and Bengali from my parents and grandparents. This started me on my journey with books and this bond has got stronger day by day. At school, I enjoyed reading (or initially observing the pictures) the books from the small book stacks in the classroom. A few years ago, I and my friends became Tintin fans – we used to exchange the comics and read them together. We still do that with books we are currently interested in. During summer holidays, I have spent my time relaxing with the collection of my mother’s old books (& Archies comics!!!) at my Nani’s house. My interest in literature spans a vast range and I enjoy characters like Famous Five, Geronimo Stilton, Shonku & Feluda, Harry Potter etc. I have been entertained by the works of many authors - Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl, Herge, Ruskin Bond, Satyajit Ray, Agatha Christie. Mystery & adventure is the genre that I love.  At school, we were always encouraged to express our thoughts and feelings on paper – first through art and then through writing. Starting with a few lines in my own spellings, I began writing short pieces based on the themes given in class.  I got a lot of encouragement from my teachers and parents and over time, my writing skills evolved to poems and short stories based on prompts or on areas of my interest. Guided by my English teacher, my mother approached Children’s World magazine and my work was well appreciated by the editor. When my first poem got published, it further boosted my confidence and motivated me to write better .  I was selected for a workshop ‘ Kissa-O-Kalam’ at Sahitya Akademi in May 2017 where I got to learn about different writing techniques from the mentors and hear interesting ideas of my companions. I have also participated in a number of creative writing competitions including Katha Utsav(2015), Scholastic Writing Awards(2016), Hindu Young World Club contests etc. These experiences have brought in new perspectives and enhanced my writing. What is your view about the present-day literary work?Modern day adventure stories excite me. I have read the series of Percy Jackson, Alex Rider and Time Riders. I find these to be thrilling with fast action and quick changes of scenarios – the twists and turns take the story to unexpected endings. Moreover, these adventures always involve some novel type of technological features which makes it more interesting. I find it difficult to put down the book till I have reached the end –you want to finish it as fast as you can to know the climax. Please tell us something about your literary work.I enjoy writing short stories and poems in English. I generally pick up abstract topics and use my imagination to spin stories around them. For this, I draw upon my experiences of travel, stories that I read, games that I play and what I observe around me.Some of my works include:Short stories - Autobiography of a Pair of Socks, A Chance Encounter with Hanumanji, Desert Escapade Poems – The Paper Boat, Fire n Ice, Falcon, Sounds of Silence I have also written few poems and short stories in Hindi – बचपन, जंगल बचाव, मन करताहै What was your first literary work and how was it published? My first literary work was an English poem called ‘Sounds of Silence’ which was published in the ‘Children’s World’ magazine on its 50th anniversary in April 2017. It is a monthly magazine brought out by the Children Book Trust, Delhi and is one of the oldest magazines for children.Where do you see yourself after 5 years in the literary world?                            I am keen to continue writing short stories and hope to sharpen my writing skills in the future. One of the ways I plan to do this is by pursuing my passion for reading. This will help me to get more ideas and to create extraordinary stories. What ways would you suggest to build a community for poets?                          Online platforms help amateur writers to share their works and read contributions from others. This can be enhanced by holding regular events and workshops. Emerging writers get to interact among themselves, appreciate other’s style of writing and learn from each other. Inviting a well known poet or author to share their thoughts will help young writers to get new ideas and develop their writing skills.      What message would you like to give to aspiring new writers?I always believe in the motto “Writing is an exploration. You start from nothing and learn as you go.”                            How was your experience of writing on StoryMirror?Story mirror was convenient to access. Bridge the gap between education and skill development
 28 April 2018

StoryMirror interviewed Bringle Academy that are striking to bring a learning revolution. Here is what they have to say.Tell us about your journey and why BRINGLE started?India is relatively young as a nation with around 28 million youth population being added every year. There is a surge in the implementation of educational technologies for improving student learning. Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life: the means because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one's awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behaviour to understanding one's rights – and in the process help him/her evolve as a better citizen. Doubtless, education is the most powerful catalyst for social transformation. But child education cannot be done in isolation. Thus began the idea of bridging the gap between education and skills development in 2016. We strive to transform lessons into engaging student-centered, active learning experiences. We began our journey of combining technology with education at Thane, Maharashtra with one center. Our main focus was quaint computer courses and six sigma green and black belt courses. We found our purpose when a young adult with cerebral palsy joined us to learn computers. It was a challenging situation for us to alter our pedagogy and create a learning environment for him. Perhaps most importantly, educators should demonstrate a great deal of emotional support and patience and utilize effective teaching strategies for students with cerebral palsy. Providing positive academic feedback, assisting students in developing friendships with general education peers, and communicating frequently with parents and therapists are all ways that teachers can inspire confidence and success in students with cerebral palsy. Being a catalyst for a Cerebal Palsy dreamer to fulfill his dreams has been our biggest reward so far.Bringle Academy strives to bring a learning revolution, with our core philosophy of ‘Growing with Grace’, which can be achieved through self-improvement and skill enhancement. We constantly thrive on nature’s principal, that ‘learning never stops’, therefore our programs are designed for all age groups and professions. We have even extended our reach to housewives and senior citizens as well. We seek out the best thinkers in an area, and form collaborative networks to work together and bring about transformation. Finally, we share our work with others so it will have the greatest possible impact.Explain us your model and its features. We researched 300+ EdTech platforms & institutes to identify the loop holes and scope of improvement in current education system. After intensive brain storming for 2 Years our team of experts identified key areas to bring disruptive innovation in education space. We developed a robust & effective framework and filed a patent for the same in Dec 2017. We collaborated with various Brand Partners to add value to our initiative. We adopt Lean Six Sigma DMAIC methodology in all our centers followed by Data Analytics to ensure the continuous improvement in 3 aspects1. SkillProfiling - Career Counselling through Expert Counsellors & Psychologists2. Safety-Index - Keeping a Child Safe (#NearMiss Reporting)3. Career Progression - Holistic Development Monitoring & developing parents, Teachers, Students ConnectK12 After School Skills Development Centers:Our platform aims to provide holistic development of students, which enable them to learn at a faster pace and apply logical & analytical skills in getting their homework done without any additional support. Unhealthy Relationships.

Unhealthy Relationships.Relationships are something people love to be in. When it comes to talk about relationship, it’s just not a couple’s relationship we are talking about, it includes all the kinds of relation you have which may be related to your family, your relatives, your friends, your lover and so on. When you come across people you tend to share some kind of relationship with them. It can be any kind of relationship but yes you always share a relation with the person you come across. When you talk about relationships, one thing that pop’s up in everyone’s head that is their relationship good or bad. If you try keep the relationship good in front of people, they would think a good image of your relationship, no matter with who it is but if you keep your relationship bad in front of people or keep it way too much good it would create a bad image in people’s head about you relationship. Its not how you present your relationship but the way you keep it and maintain it towards the people.Unhealthy relationships often lead to dangerous paths. If your partner or your love ones insult you, do not give you the respect you deserve, treat you like the way you should not be treated and your relationship with them or your behaviour and their behaviour is more of a physical 0r at times more of a physical abuse that is called or is known as unhealthy relationship. It’s not only that the young girls face such issues in their new relationships along with their partners but also everyone faces some kind of unhealthy relationship with some or the other person they come across with. It’s not easy to deal with such kind of relationships. If you are a parent and you face some kind of unhealthy relationship with your partner and it leads to physical harm and more like a painful abuse it might affect your family and if you have any child it might disturb them and they would not find the peace of mind they desire from the one place without fail also they will lack of happiness because if their parents have abusive and physical violence against each other it might lead up to a lot of problems. This happens in marital relationships. But what about those youngsters who have relationships without knowing what it is. Unhealthy relationship not only refers or means that the relationship where there is no respect, being treated like a trash and being abusive but also it refers to things that you should not do at a certain age because you are not matured enough and maybe it’s not the right thing you should do at that time. I often hear stories from people that a girl had been physical with her partner and then she got pregnant and then she had to abort the child and her parents never forgave her and she was ashamed of it. When people asked her also her family asked her why did she take such step she said her partner would leave her if she didn’t do it and ultimately her partner left her because she was pregnant, that is also known as an unhealthy.Because when someone loves you or you love someone the person knows his or her limits and if they did want something real with you, they would never wish to do anything wrong with you. Not all relationships are like fairy tails or are like horror stories but there is a line in between the healthy and unhealthy relationship. If one could not try to maintain it, it leads towards a wrong path. Every relationship has ups and downs that does not mean you stop trying to maintain the fine line between unhealthy and healthy. Its you who decides to keep what relationship you want to maintain with your love ones. Once it goes off the line its hard to get it on the line.~By. Saloni Maliwal

The Best Medicine

The Best MedicineTopics of discussions with friends hover around different issues at different ages. As teenagers, we discussed about our challenges in learning, adolescent problems, etc.  In our youth, we discussed about our dreams of our future, life-partners, career, etc.  A few lucky ones discussed about their love affairs, which had happy ending!  Then came our middle age, when we were busy managing our families and careers and very rarely got to meet our friends.  Whenever we met, the discussion was about how we did the balancing act, our children’s responses, concerns about their education, behaviour and so on.  Children grew up and entered teens and then we had the challenge of handling them.  God knows whether our parents thought about this challenge so much, because the exposure that we had as teenagers was so limited.  Time passed and our children left homes in search of greener pastures.  They found their life partners and the focus now is on their new families.  This is a natural cycle but we all started feeling the pain of empty nests.  We were left to tend to our aged parents and hence when we meet people, what we mostly discuss is ‘health’ or rather ‘ill-health’!  It is not that death is the trend now and it never occurred in the yesteryears but death did not haunt us as much as it does now.  We keep hearing about the demise of the elders in the family, our friends, our colleagues and that keeps reminding us that the time is ticking away.  What haunts us more than death is the age-related complications before we actually embrace death!  Thus all we discuss is about exercise, prevention of certain chronic diseases, management of chronic diseases, weight-loss, diet, medicines, labs, hospitals, doctors - Oh!Do we really get respite from such thoughts and discussions?  We do, if only we go back in time!  How do we do that?  Thanks to technology, we are able to connect to our old friends, friends who can make us feel young!  Recently, we connected through WhatsApp and fifteen of us, who schooled together met up in Secunderabad!  Wow!  I tell you!  Nothing can be as invigorating as attending a school reunion!  Many of my classmates live in Hyderabad/Secunderabad and they took the lead and organised the reunion painstakingly.  We were lucky to get in touch with eight of our teachers.   We invited the teachers to our school Keyes High School, Secunderabad, which was established in 1881.  We felicitated them and sought their blessings.  They were so touched and were genuinely happy that we had all done well in our lives and careers and our children have excelled in their fields.  In fact, one of our teachers said, ‘Seeing your vigour and enthusiasm and your fresh memories I feel like gathering you all in a classroom and conducting a lecture!”We then spent hours in a service apartment, sharing all those golden memories, reliving every incident.  Each of us had something to share.  One of us is a gynaecologist and she shared many of her professional experiences in a very witty manner.  All of us spoke about our marriages and some of us had juicy news about love affairs!  We spoke about the play ‘Panchali Sabadam’, which our classmates had staged on the annual day! We pulled each other’s legs, laughed heartily and even danced and sang!  All of us went back in time by 46 years, putting aside all our present worries, pains and sorrows!  Three days just flew by.  When the time came for us to depart, we were all sad but all of us decided that we had to organise such meets more often in future, getting some more of our friends into the loop.  A few more friends have joined the group since then and are now very eagerly waiting for the second reunion, which we are organising in our garden city in December.  This is the b medicine for all ailments in this age!  Do take this medicine in higher dosages!

Bhagavad Gita Verse 2.30
 27 July 2019

Maturity - In Gita Verse 2.30 O descendant of Bharata, he who dwells in the body can never be slain. Therefore you need not grieve for any living being.Krishna says that the aliveness of the body, which is your soul is not doing any violent act. So don’t think of the body which is perishable. What rightnow Arjuna is thinking is only in terms of objective world, and Krishna is reminding him to come back with the information to subjective world.Krishna is asking him to transform the objective world to subjective world. Objective world is always in the crude form, unless we purify and transform we cannot grow in consciousness. We cannot see the truth. We will be always immature.Maturity means the understanding to decide for oneself, the understanding to be decisive on your own. To stand on your own feet — that’s what maturity is. But it rarely happens, because parents spoil almost every child, more or less. And then there is the school and the college and the university — they are all ready to spoil you. It is very rare that somebody becomes mature. The society is not happy with mature people. Mature people are dangerous people, because a mature person lives according to his own being. He goes on doing his own thing — he does not bother what people say, what their opinion is. He does not hanker for respectability, for prestige; he does not bother for honour. He lives his own life — he lives it at any cost. He is ready to sacrifice everything, but he is never ready to sacrifice his freedom.Society is afraid of these people; society wants everybody to remain childish. Everybody should be kept at an age somewhere between seven and fourteen — that’s where people are.In the First World War, for the first time, psychologists became aware of this strange phenomenon. For the first time on a large scale, in the army, people’s mental ages were searched for. And it was a strange discovery: the army people had the average mental age of twelve. Your body may be fifty, your mind remains somewhere below fourteen. Before fourteen you are repressed — because after fourteen repression becomes difficult. By the time a child is fourteen, if he has not been repressed then there is no possibility to repress him ever — because once he becomes a sexual being, he becomes powerful. Before fourteen he is weak, soft, feminine. Before fourteen you can put anything into his mind — he is suggestible, you can hypnotize him. You can tell him everything that you want, and he will listen to it, he will believe in it.After fourteen, logic arises, doubt arises. After fourteen, sexuality arises; with sexuality he becomes independent. Now he himself is able to become a father, now she herself is able to become a mother. So nature, biology, makes a person independent from parents at the age fourteen. So the greatest work for a man who really wants to become free, who really wants to become conscious, who really wants to become de-hypnotized — who wants to have no limitations of any kind, who wants to flow in a total existence — is that he needs to drop many things from the inside. When Buddha says, you have to kill your mother and father, that doesn’t mean that you have to go and actually kill your father and mother — but the father and mother that you are carrying within you, the idea. You will see maturity coming very soon — and without maturity life is not worth anything. Because all that is beautiful happens only in a mature mind, all that is great happens only in a mature mind. To be a grown-up is a blessing. But people simply grow up — they never become grown-ups. In age they go on growing, but in consciousness they go on shrinking. Their consciousness remains in the foetus; it has not come out of the egg, it is not yet born. Only your body is born — you are yet unborn.Take your life into your own hands: it is YOUR life. You are not here to fulfill anybody else’s expectations. Don’t live your mother’s life and don’t live your father’s life, live your life. And when you start living your life, you are living God’s life.Krishna says to Arjuna to live the Life, which is gift of universe, your subjectivity. So that you can accomplish your assignment of the universe, Fight WIthout Enmity.

Under Cherry-Trees

Art

Under cherry-treessoup, the salad, fish and all . . .Seasoned with petalsVariety of food is like mind and petals represents consciousness.Remember well that you don't have one mind; you have multi-minds.Mind is a flux: river like, flowing, changing. Consciousness is eternal, one. It is not different in the morning and different in the evening. It is not different when you are born and different when you die. It is one and the same, eternal. Mind is a flux. A child has a childish mind, an old man has an old mind; but a child or an old man have the same consciousness, which is neither childish nor old. It cannot be.Mind moves in time and consciousness lives in timelessness. They are not one. But we are identified with the mind. We go on saying, insisting, 'My mind. I think this way. This is my thought. This is my ideology.' Because of this identification with the mind, you miss that which you really are.Dissolve these links with the mind. Remember that your minds are not your own. They have been given to you by others: your parents, your society, your university. They have been given to you. Throw them away. Remain with the simple consciousness that you are ¯ pure consciousness, innocent. This is how one moves from the mind to meditation. This is how one moves away from society, from the without to the within. This is how one moves from the man-made world, the maya, to the universal truth, the existence.

Bhagavad Gita Verse 2.66
 31 August 2019

Sound Of Silence - In Gita Verse 2.66 One who is not connected with the Supreme can have neither transcendental intelligence nor a steady mind, without which there is no possibility of peace. And how can there be any happiness without peace?Krishna is making very easy for us to understand that unless we are connected with our subjectivity we will not find peace, silence. Without that silence no happiness can be found in life.Right now forget about our subjectivity. When we feel the connection with our parents how happy we are, our body is gift from our parents. This is our objective world, but the life of the body is gift of universe. Unless through our intelligence and understanding if we feel that connection with universe - that will be through our subjectivity - immediately we become silent. There will be pool of happiness which is not dependent on the objective world, it is bliss. It’s our own light, through which we find connection with subjectivity, see it, realize it, experience it, immediately that gives us the experience of silence and bliss. No one other than self can find this connection. No one can help us. But with everyone’s support it will help us to find out our own connection with our subjectivity. It’s through their sign that we can find our own connection with our subjectivity.Look back into your life in any small incident, when you were in emotional turmoil, there was misery, but during that time if you just become little alert towards yourself and suddenly you will find that in the middle of that emotional turmoil you become relaxed. I am not saying you will be silent, I am saying you will be relaxed. This experience of relaxation is nothing but your own light and through that you find your connection with the universe. Immediately you were relaxed. There was no external or objective world’s motivation, it was your realization. Without the objective world’s motivation if you feel relaxation in that moment you in your unconsciousness also become aware of your reality of yourself, as whole, not as fragments. This is what Krishna calls Transcendental Intelligence. For us most of the time Silence usually is understood to be something negative, something empty, an absence of sound, of noises. This misunderstanding is prevalent because very few people have ever experienced silence. All that they have experienced in the name of silence is noiselessness. But silence is a totally different phenomenon. It is utterly positive. It is existential, it is not empty. It is overflowing with a music that you have never heard before, with a fragrance that is unfamiliar to you, with a light that can only be seen by the inner eyes. It is not something fictitious; it is a reality, and a reality which is already present in everyone – we just never look in. All our senses are extrovert. Our eyes open outside, our ears open outside, our hands move outside, our legs…all our senses are meant to explore the outside world. But there is a sixth sense also, which is asleep because we have never used it. And no society, no culture, no educational system helps people to make the sixth sense active. That sixth sense, in the East, is called “the third eye.” It looks inward. And just as there is a way of looking in, so there is a way of hearing in, so there is a way of smelling in. Just as there are five senses moving outward, there are five counter-senses moving inward. In all, man has ten senses, but the first sense that starts the inner journey is the third eye, and then other senses start opening up.Your inner world has its own taste, has its own fragrance, has its own light. And it is utterly silent, immensely silent, eternally silent. There has never been any noise, and there will never be any noise. No word can reach there, but you can reach. The mind cannot reach there, but you can reach because you are not the mind. The function of the mind is again to be a bridge between you and the objective world, and the function of the heart is to be a bridge between you and yourself. The silence that I have been talking about is the silence of the heart. It is a song in itself, without words and without sounds. It is only out of this silence that the flowers of love grow. It is this silence that becomes the garden of Eden. Meditation, and only meditation, is the key to open the doors of your own being.Once you experience the real silence, you will see in your action there is some different kind of intelligence, just like when we add sugar in the milk we will not find sugar separately but while drinking the milk we get the taste of sugar. Similarly when you become really silent at that time you merge with universe, you will not be able to find universe and you as separate but in your action you will feel, not only you but your surrounding also will feel the fragrance of universe, which we call Compassion.Krishna is not only saying to Arjuna but to everyone of us, that we are part of universe, which can be realised only through our self-alertness, once you realize this you are connected with your subjectivity and once you are connected with your subjectivity you can transcend your animal nature, unconsciousness into your consciousness. Once you become self-conscious immediately you will find silence and bliss in you. This sound of silence Krishna says is your Intelligence.

Adarsh "Bahu" course

Hypocrisy is like a wolf in sheep's clothing, it runs in our blood. On one side, we reinforce a perception to brag infront of others that how benignant we are, but the authenticity lies in our mind. Recently launched "Adarsh bahu course" fits best here, founded by so called Barkatullah University. People's reaction to it is outrageously appalling. On one hand, people vocalize women empowerment and on the ther hand contrarily support such a deplorable course. The people who were possessive about women empowerment 2-3 days back, are mocking at this course, and simply making memes and tagging their female friends while, some are calling it a nice initiative. It's motive is to keep families intact. Is it only a woman's responsibility to keep a family intact? Is there no responsibility of the man or his folks? Separating a man from his aged parents is cruelty and for that crime a hindu man can divorce his spouse. But what would be the punishment for terminating her career & burying her dreams to look after the family? This sacrifice doesn't matter at all to some shameless people. They want to make their daughter-in-law a typical conservative Indian Housewife who to them is a perfect daughter-in-law, no matter how imperfect their prince charming is. And a huge round of applause to BU, for launching such a horrendous course. This shows the degree of hypocrisy in our education system and how conservative it is! On one hand, it teaches us the rights of women and on the other hand it teaches women how to treat her in-laws.I believe that education is the qcore department in any country. This department should be insightful in imagination, sagacious in making judgment & most significantly adaptive to changes. Education can turn a wild creature into a sophisticated one, so we've got to choose wisely!
