Understanding of Behaviors of the Children Who Have Been Abused
 Linda Norwood
 31 May 2019

In the present times, the cases of children's abuse are frequent in the community due to the changes of family values and social problems. This issue is important as it touches many people who have children and want to protect them. To understand behaviors of the children who have been abused one should analyze the psychological factors crucial for them. One can distinguish two kinds of abuse: physical and sexual. Children aging from 3 to 14 years old can undergo sexual and physical abusing. The behaviors of the children depend on the kind of abusing, ethnicity, gender and age. Moreover, verbal and non-verbal languages are the ways of revealing the differences between abused children. This research paper intends to study behaviors of the children who have been abused and analyze the psychological factors.Literature ReviewThere are a great deal of discussion posts towards this topic. Majority would agree that children who have been abused have their patterns of behavior that are characterized by non-verbal gestures. In addition, non-verbal behaviors can be the determinants of physical or sexual abuse that is revealed through interviewing. For example, using such method as interviewing it have been revealed the fact of abusing. Moreover, the participants of interviewing were stressed and depressed when they answered the questions about physical and sexual violence. In addition, indicators of physical disengagement and stress were progressing while positive emotions were decreasing. Consequently, non-verbal behavior can tell a lot about physical and sexual abuse of children. Non-verbal behavior includes gestures, body movement, language intonation, facial expressions and eye contact.Different kinds of physical evidence, photographic evidence, medical evidence and eyewitness are the ways of determining children's sexual abuse. These are independent measures that can provoke the necessary feelings, emotions and patterns of behavior of children who have been abused. One should mention that indicators of sexual abuse are diverse. They can include disclosure, sexual awareness, symptoms associated with trauma, fears, anxiety, mood changes, conduct problems and other behavioral changes. Furthermore, data from interviewing children is related to the negative experience that oppresses them and can lead even to suicide. In addition, there are such children who are offenders and admit their participation in sexual abuse. Consequently, they can also feel similar emotions. It is important to determine who is an offender and who is a victim as children are cunning and can hide information.Sexual abuse is harmful to the mental order of children. Younger children are more eager to tell about their stressful situations rather than teenagers who feel somalization, anxiety and depression. Therefore, interviewing should also correspond to ethnical, gender and age differences of children. Kathleen Ratican insists that shame and guilt can prevent children from being totally sincere during interviewing. Furthermore, one can see sexually abused children through their relationships with other people. In addition, abused children can be aggressive and hostile to those who interviewed them supposing them to be enemies. Facilitating disclosure and treatment approaches for helping sexually abused children.Sexual abuse is shameful, embarrassing and private topic for discuss. Thus, not all children can admit being sexually abused and provide the objectivity of interviewing. The factors that restrict the reliability and sincerity of interviews are gender, age and individual characteristics. However, one should not use such improper methods as reinforcement (rewards, punishments), social influence, asking suggestive questions to get the necessary information. Furthermore, sexually abused girls are opener comparing with boys by providing more details. Children between 4-6 years old can also give more information due to their trust and childish naivete?.Researches underline the importance of choosing techniques for interviewing children in sexual abuse cases. It is evident that after such negative experience children lose trust, therefore, it is important to establish the contact with them and provide friendly atmosphere. First of all, it is crucial to distinguish the kind of abuse, the reasons and consequences of the violent behavior. There are common patterns of behavior of children who have been abused. These are negative feelings, reservation, depression and hostility. To reveal the fact of sexual abuse in young children one should use play therapy, for example, dolls. However, there can be false answers where children can lie about their sexual or violent abuse. It can be related to their mental and psychological disorders or desire to attract attention of the adult people. In conclusion, one should say that interviewing is one of the best ways to understand behaviors of children who were sexually and physically abused. Interviewing should also correspond to ethnical, gender and age differences of children. Verbal and non-verbal languages can reveal the necessary information and provoke feelings related to physical and sexual abuse. Gender and age are the most important factors that influence children's answers during the interview. Disclosure, sexual awareness, symptoms associated with trauma, fears, anxiety, mood changes, conduct problems and other behavior changes refer to the types of behavior. One should say that every person has his/her individual characteristics that make him/her opener or more reserved. Consequently, girls can inform more details while interviewing, as they are too emotional. As to boys, they are more reserved and suspicious. Yet young children are the most sincere and trustworthy.

Bhagavad Gita Verse 3.18
 Dhwani Shah
 24 September 2019

Causeless Act - In Gita Verse 3.18 A self-realized man has no purpose to fulfill in the discharge of his prescribed duties, nor has he any reason not to perform such work. Nor has he any need to depend on any other living being. There are two things krishna says to Arjuna, self-realize man, means self-conscious man, he will act as non-doer. He is not looking for any fruits from his act. Another thing he speaks regarding codependency pattern.Look in our life - our life is dependent on others. We are living for others. In the process we have lost connection with ourselves.First thing what Krishna says is with any actions there will be consequences. Means the result, fruits will be there. Unless we drop our desire for the result we will not be able to see what universe has given to us. Look the way in which scientist does their research, they work for their given resources, but they are open for any kind of result. They welcome the result as a new opportunity they are always enthusiastic for their result. They welcomed warmly the end result, in that they don’t bring any kind of their desire. This is the reason why science is growing so fast. But all of us are tethered to some purpose in life, and therefore we are unable to understand Krishna. We live with a goal in life, with a purpose, a motive. Even if we love some one we do so with a purpose; we give our love with a condition, a string attached to it. We always want something in return. Even our love is not purposeless, unconditional, uncontaminated. We never do a thing without motive, just for the love of it. And remember, unless you begin to do something without a cause, without a reason, without a motive, you cannot be religious. The day something in your life happens causelessly, when your action has no motive or condition attached to it, when you do something just for the love and joy of doing it, you will know what religion is, what God is.Either look towards scientist and learn to live the life every circumstances as a resources or understand any religion without getting stuck of follow the words live that way - both are showing same thing how we can live life as non-doer.Other things what Krishna has mention regarding codependency in our relationship.Relationships can be extremely complicated. It doesn’t matter if we are referring to romantic partnerships, friendships, family, or work relationships, it seems that the relationships we have with those closest to us are full of complicated dynamics that can often make even the healthiest of us turn into someone we no longer recognize. And while most of us who are on a personal development quest know that the those people who are the toughest to deal with are our greatest teachers, it doesn’t make the inner workings of our relationships with these people any easier to deal with. The fact of the matter is, the number one indicator as to how “well” we are doing in our emotional evolution process is how well our relationships with others are going. If we realize that every person in our life represents another part of our own self, how well we get along with these people tells us how unconditionally we are loving our own self. The more harmonious our personal relationships are can only indicate how in tune we are with our own self and life in general. And the more rooted in ego we are the more our relationships will be based on codependent tendencies and egoic attachments.Rewire your Dysfunctional beliefs:To recover from codependency, we need to recognise that dysfunctional beliefs exist and we need to replace them with healthier ones. Instead of trying to be “perfect”, we must focus on our natural emotions (which are only appearing in our reality to be embraced and loved like the scared child inside our hearts) we will start to notice a miraculous thing. We are respecting ourselves, naturally. We are accepting and loving ourselves, naturally. We are not beating ourselves up for not living up to an image of how we think we are supposed to be and instead are just completely being ok with who or what we are.We are not scared to have emotions and we trust that they are there to show us something. At the point that we start trusting our own emotions, we begin to form an intimate relationship with our own heart which begins to shift everything. Fear based relationships can no longer exist in this environment.Unless we realize that our relationship is fear based relationship we will not be able to come out of our codependent tendencies.Krishna is saying to Arjuna that if your focus is on your action without any desire for expected result, you will be able to drop your tendency for recognition for your work, acknowledgement of your work, as you did that act because you loved to do that, you recognized your love, out of your sheer joy you acted and in that moment you drop your codependency pattern. Your act is just overflowing with your joy of doing it. No other expectation from that.

How to Manage Workplace Anxiety
 Ethan South
 24 July 2020

If you need to learn how to manage workplace anxiety, then this article was written for you. You may not know it, but stress management is often neglected by business owners. They may even have training in managing their employees, but these management courses rarely help their employees when faced with a stressful situation. What most people do not realize is that stress is in fact a natural biological occurrence, and that the way we think about stress can actually contribute to the onset of a panic attack. For example, you need to look at your emotions during times of stress. What is it that makes you anxious? What triggers it?You may be focusing on one thing at the time, so that's attention. However, these thoughts and emotions don't seem to come out in the way you want them to. Sometimes, we focus on the wrong thing and then end up stuck in a cycle of worry, and anxiety. You can tap into the "power of focus" to make it easier to get your thoughts out of your head. Your mind can take control of your focus, and it will change the direction of your anxiety. The result is that you can avoid situations that are stressing you out. This is exactly what many business owners are doing with their employees. They are taking a look at how their workers are experiencing their work environment, and they are helping the employees deal with the inevitable stressors. This does not mean that there is no room for work on the part of the employee. They still need to learn how to deal with difficult situations. There are ways that they can relax and minimize the stress.By now, you might be thinking that there is only one way to deal with stress, and that is to go through an expensive course in stress management. This is a complete misconception. There are ways that you can manage stress that are less expensive and still have a positive effect on your health. For example, a quiet place to work is important if you want to be able to take a break when needed, without the worry of interruption by someone at work. Being around a lot of noise can cause stress and anxiety. Quiet work places can eliminate some of this stress. You may be paying more than you should for office furniture, but that's OK. When it comes to controlling your stress, it is better to spend less, and get the same results as other businesses. The important thing is to learn how to manage your stress in the way that works best for you.Learn how to manage stress in a healthy way. In some cases, this involves reducing the amount of caffeine in your coffee each day. You could also take some vitamins and water every day to help your body stay hydrated. If you are stressed at work, it may be time to find another job. It is better to learn how to manage your stress in a healthy way, than to suffer from long term effects from your work-related stress. Keep reading.

Each one of us needs to be 'loved. No affection can be expressed fully without some physical demonstration. There is NO such thing as platonic love in the online marriage procedure in Pakistan. One needs the comfort and reassurance with a touch of affection to show, that there is always someone to hold our hand when scared, someone to stop us with a raised eyebrow when one is about to make a fool of one's self in front of others, kiss away our tears when we are hurt and there is always a shoulder to rest on, and a 'magical embrace' when we are disappointed and need one's loved one for comfort after online marriage procedure in Pakistan. The only person who is with us most of the time is one's the better half, who can and does help us best, in times of need.  One's spouse is the person besides our parents and children,Most Comforting of all Emotions:before whom one can truly pour out all frustrations, anger, anxieties, fear, joy, victories and if one is close to each other, then even one's innermost thoughts can be shared.  Deeds are most important but the sense of touch is perhaps the MOST COMFORTING of all emotions!  Tolerance after the online marriage procedure in Pakistan is the bottom line to successMany marriages are on the rocks due to the attitude towards the institution of marriage like the 'belief that 'Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus'. This is not true, both are from planet Earth and both are human. An intelligent couple knows when to keep quiet, when to 'voice an opinion and when not to speak out ones' mind. It is a scientifically proven fact that a woman is as intelligent as a man, so why should she be treated otherwise? Both should be loving and intelligent enough to put up with each other's shortcomings and tantrums.  Just try to keep your cool by controlling outbursts of anger and saying the first thing that comes in one's mind as one is too weak at that time to control emotions.  This is a true example of unbelievable self-control.  Guidelines After Online Marriage:Bitter words are like quinine--an anti-malarial tablet (I was allergic to as a child), and when it 'touched ones' tongue it left the bitterest of taste for hours! Marriage needs a lot of self-control and a spouse can only function best if there are genuine appreciation and acceptance of each other's handicaps.  Couples should be close enough to express their feelings about different people and things without a 'faux pas.'  Unlike some cultures, family closeness is most important, and once married through online marriage procedure in Pakistan, in-laws are most important. One should always remember that parents always want love and respect from their child's spouse. They have spent their whole life in bringing up your spouse and making him the person he /she is . . . Now all that they want is your presence or attention. Give time to your parents, as well as your in-laws. Never overlook the harsh reality that one's spouse cannot and does not love the parents of one's better half, in the same way as you love yours and that love begets love.

Aislin Fall, a poet and photographer
 StoryMirror Feed
 18 April 2018

StoryMirror interviewed Aislin Fall, a 25 years old maker of things. Writer. Photographer. Poet. Compulsive traveller. Joy Seeker. Knowledge sponge. PNW born and bred. Here is what she has to say.Q. Tell us about you and your background.I guess I was born and then a lot of things happened and I ended up where I am now.I'm from British Columbia, Canada. I was 16 when I started taking photographs using my dad's camera. I was really obsessed with fashion photography for a long time and was always making my friends crawl into bushes and peer from behind blooming branches and once, I made my best friend carry a small wooden giraffe around her neighbourhood. Eventually, I started photographing models in the suburbs and beautiful landscapes wearing lots of different clothes. Eventually, I stopped photographing models anywhere. These past few years, I've become more drawn to taking pictures that document life as I see it, which usually fits in the category of travel and portrait photography with a tinge of adventure and lifestyle. I still shoot fashion sometimes but it's not my main focus.Photoshop came before photography for me and by the time I picked up my first camera, I was already dabbling in graphic design and photomanipulation. I fell in love with retouching as I transitioned into fashion photography and I worked as a retoucher for a few years. I don't retouch professionally any longer. I like being outside more than I like being on a computer these days.Travel has been the dominant force in my life for the past four years, although I did travel a lot with my family while growing up. I am usually in a state of going somewhere. I haven't had a "home" for more than a few months in a long time.Q. What is your life's greatest passion? What inspires you? I think life itself is my greatest passion—life and all the things it encompasses. The swell and swoon and pull and press of existence. The miracle of existing at all. The hope is to be as fully present and here in this moment. It's strange how something so simple can be so hard sometimes! How easy to get lost in your head—to stop listening to footfall of passing strangers, trills of birds, pulse of water. So my greatest passion is life and from there, everything else flows. I have been a maker ever since I was little—drawing, writing, forming stories—and the process of creating is a huge passion of mine. Nowadays, it takes the shape of photography and poetry. I grew up travelling the west coast of North America with my family and in my 20s, I've spent a lot of time on the road in Canada, USA, Europe, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Travelling is definitely one of the other great loves of my life. But they are all so wound together. Photography, writing, travelling—they're all giant pieces of this life of mine. They're how I think and feel and experience. Life gives me inspiration and then I take that and make these things with it.Life inspires me, the world inspires me, relationships inspire me, art inspires me, emotions inspire me, light inspires me. Since I'm mostly photographing my life as I experience it, I just look for moments.Q. Take us through your work. I shoot people and places. I catch real moments and pull them through my perspective until they feel like me. I get my fingerprints on everything. I'm not one of those photographers who doesn't like to modify things (though if you are, that's fine). I see things as malleable. I love Photoshop. My work is me; my work is my life. It's the fleeting instant that I got my fingers around. It's a record of where I've been and what I've felt. The roads I've walked down, the people I've loved, the sunrises I've seen, the glimmers of light that took my breath away. It's travel or landscape or documentary or lifestyle or portrait or whatever.WhistlerUSATessTasmaniaTasmaniaSydneyScotlandPortoMaiteIrelandIrelandIrelandhowthhollandCanadaBeeAusAthensAthensQ. Can you share with us a 'behind-the-scene' memory of yours that has stood out the most? Back in October, at the beginning of this last backpacking trip in Europe, I went to the Acropolis in Athens for sunrise. I watched the twinkle of dawn wash over the ancient streets of the city and observed the quiet blue of night transform into brilliant, shining light. It was one of those times when you look around at your life and feel all the decisions that brought there to that specific, remarkable, precious point. A blink of overwhelming gratitude.During the day, Acropolis is a swarming beehive of human beings. There are so many people. But when the gates first open in the morning—right before the sun rises, it's nearly empty. There were only two or three other people there when I watched the dawn awaken the city. It was so private and personal, witnessing the sun crest over the mountains, pull the shadows long and far over the ruins.Q. Is there an achievement or contribution that you are most proud of?I have been to 25 countries in 25 years, and while that's not a "career" oriented "achievement," it's a personal achievement. I'm immensely proud of this life that I've carved for myself. I have seen so much and it's truly shaped me.Q. What is your life's philosophy?Love and interconnectivity. Be kind and compassionate towards everything—other humans, animals, the planet, yourself. We are all so tied together. Our actions matter.Q. If you could give a message to all the 20 year olds of the world, what would it be?Be patient. Remember that you are not your emotions. Gratitude is the key. Emotions are passing clouds in the sky—they are things that you experience but they are not your identity so don't be consumed by them or think that they're your truth. Patience because all things take time and it's really hard to really know who you are or what you want at 20. It's important to give yourself room to grow and discover and make mistakes. I view the 20s as being a massive opportunity for learning. Training your mind to practice gratitude has the potential to change everything.Q. How do you want to see yourself 5 years from now?Happy and fulfilled, though that's the aim for every single day and not the destination. I'd like to be sustaining an income from my photography and writing, and still engaged in creative projects that excite me. I hope to have more of a "home" in five years but still travelling a lot with at least another ten new countries checked off my list!Check out her website, blog and instagram.

Bhagavad Gita Verse 8.22
 Dhwani Shah
 4 April 2020

Wheel And Axis - In Gita Verse 8.22 The Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is greater than all, is attainable by unalloyed devotion. Although He is present in His abode, He is all-pervading, and everything is situated within Him.Krishna says that I am present in everything - means he says that my presence is like axis of the wheel. Without axis wheel cannot move but axis is always still. Unless we become aware of this centre which is non moving within us we will not realize our Godliness. There has been a long misunderstanding about these two things: keeping the mind still and mindlessness. There have been many people who have thought that they are synonymous. They appear to be synonymous, but in reality they are as far apart as two things can be, and there is no way to bridge them.So first let us try to find the exact meaning of these two words:The difference is very delicate. A man who is keeping his mind still and a man who has no mind will look exactly alike from the outside, because the man who is keeping his mind still is also silent. Underneath his silence there is great turmoil, but he is not allowing it to surface. He is in great control. The man with no mind, or mindlessness, has nothing to control. He is just pure silence with nothing repressed, with nothing disciplined - just a pure empty sky.Surfaces can be very deceptive. One has to be very alert about appearances, because they both look the same from the outside - both are silent. The problem would not have arisen if the still mind was not easy to achieve. It is easy to achieve. Mindlessness is not so easy to achieve; it is not cheap, it is the greatest treasure in the world.Mind can play the game of being silent; it can play the game of being without any thoughts, any emotions, but they are just repressed, fully alive, ready to jump out at any moment. The so-called religions and their saints have fallen into the fallacy of stilling the mind. If you go on sitting silently, trying to control your thoughts, not allowing your emotions, not allowing any movement within you, slowly, slowly it will become your habit. This is the greatest deception in the world you can give to yourself, because everything is exactly the same, nothing has changed, but it appears as if you have gone through a transformation. The state of no-mind or mindlessness is just the opposite of stilling the mind - it is getting beyond the mind. It is creating such a distance between yourself and the mind that the mind becomes the farthest star, millions of light years away, and you are just a watcher. When the mind is stilled you are the controller. When the mind is not, you are the watcher. These are the distinguishing marks. When you are controlling something you are in tension; you cannot be without tension, because that which is controlled is continuously trying to revolt against you, that which is enslaved wants freedom. Your mind sooner or later will explode with vengeance. The process of controlling and repressing and disciplining is taught by all religions, and because of their fallacious teaching humanity has not moved a single inch - it remains barbarous. Any moment people start killing each other. It does not take a single moment to lose themselves; they forget completely that they are human beings, and something much more, something better is expected of them. There have been very few people who have been able to avoid this deception of controlling mind and believing that they have attained mindlessness. To attain mindlessness a totally different process is involved: I call it the ultimate alchemy. It consists only of a single element - that of watchfulness.Krishna says - A man who wants to enter into the world of mindlessness has to learn only one thing - a single step and the journey is over. That single step is to do everything watchfully. You move your hand watchfully; you open your eyes watchfully; you walk, you take your steps alert, aware; you eat, you drink, but never allow mechanicalness to take possession over you. This is the only alchemical secret of transformation.A man who can do everything fully consciously becomes a luminous phenomenon. He is all light, and his whole life is full of fragrance and flowers. The mechanical man lives in dark holes, dirty holes. He does not know the world of light; he is like a blind man. The man of watchfulness is really the man who has eyes.

How learning new languages gives new insight to our thought process

It is universal for children to utter mummy or something related with M for mother (mom in English, maa, mata, ammi in Hindi). This similarity perhaps comes from being part of human species just like emotions of love, joy, sorrow. The likes of argument that Indian and European races have common origin, ancestors based on similarity in languages do not stand by this line of thought. While few words like maverick are coined because of association with particular entities like a celebrity, rest should have deeper inherent. It is spontaneous to utter no by Englishmen while denying. In Hindi, denial word is naa (ना). Equivalent of red and greed in Hindi is लाल (meaning red) and लालच (meaning greed); note similarity in meaning but slight variation in pronunciation between saint and sant (संत) in Hindi; symmetry between beech (बीच) in Hindi meaning between and madhya (मध्य) meaning middle: B appears between A and C (requiring two entities) while M is the middle letter of English alphabet system. While shape of English letter O may point to formation of round shape in air when the alphabet is pronounced, its equivalent ओ in Hindi gives no sense of circle. So, there are variations with each variation maybe signifying something different which can give new insight to our thought process making process of learning new languages a fruitful endeavor. English alphabet system appears to be direction-based, angular where geometric shape plays a crucial role compared to Sanskrit: note A for angle, B for bifurcation, C for curve, O for oval, Z for zigzag; shape of X denoting cross.सब से उपर (up+per=upper) Super!

Book Review : A Stoic's Diary

What is Stoicism?Stoicism is an ancient Greek philosophy developed around 300 B.C. as a modification of Cynicism which teaches the development of self-control and courage by fighting destructive emotions. It is not just a set of beliefs but a way of life with practice and including the logic mostly. Soliloquy and a kind of meditation aimed at training one's attention to remain in the present moment is the main characteristic. No wonder it’s not more popular. No wonder the Stoic sage, in Western culture, has never obtained the popularity of the Zen master. Even though Stoicism is far more accessible, not only does it lack the exotic mystique of Eastern practice; it’s also regarded as a philosophy of merely breaking even while remaining determinedly impassive. What this attitude ignores is the promise proffered by Stoicism of lasting transcendence and imperturbable tranquility. It ignores gratitude, too. This is part of the tranquility, because it’s what makes the tranquility possible. Stoicism is, as much as anything, a philosophy of gratitude – and a gratitude, moreover, rugged enough to endure anything.About the book:The title of the book ' A Stoic's Diary '  is very  attention capturing and new. The book cover is very subtle and doesn't talk much about the book. The art of Stoicism is briefly yet illustratively and practically is explained in the book. The concept of mind maps and looking at a problem in different dimensions is observed as the main concept in the book. Self awareness, self help, will power and perseverance are explained in a beautiful manner. One of its kind of a book in the field of Stoicism. Kudos to the author.
