How my books changed me
 11 March 2018

Books became my gateway into this wild jungle of imagination. We all read books in order to receive formal education but my relationship with books is ever dynamic. I remember being 10, with 4 comic books in my hand eagerly waiting for my study table to be delivered to my house. I promised myself that I will study on this table and read on this table all the time. It was the perfect table with a little book rack attached to it. Soon, the books started coming in.My grandmother tucked me into bed every night, only after telling me hindi stories. So even before I could read, my relationship with stories had already begun. I started writing about my mundane life as if it was a wild adventure, after reading "The Diary Of a Young Girl" by Anne frank. It baffled me how I could connect to characters in these books, who lived in these in places I have never heard of. I feel like I could read more books and develop telepathic powers someday, just like Matilda. Winnie the poohtaught me to be kind in the most humblest way possible. In my imagination, I was a part of every story I read. I understood how stories have the power to change the way I look at the world. When Robert Frost walked the road not taken,he lightened this new sense of hope and courage in me. Poetry became my way of expressing myself. I began scribbling poems in english, on the margin of my notebooks. I found the kind of friends, I aspire to become in the perks of being a wallflower. I found a mentor when I spend my Tuesdays with Morrie, who taught me the importance of being compassionate, taught me about the fragility of life and the value of memories, taught me to love or perish. She taught what immense bravery and standing up for others selflessly entails, when she stood in the face of death and told the gunman "I am Malala". She moved me in ways I hadn't been moved before. When  I thought I was hitting rock bottom, the alchemist showed me how the possibility of having a dream come true makes life interesting, makes every morning worth waking up to and that the secret of life is falling seven times and getting up eight times.  Rupi Kaur put her vulnerabilities in few sentences, on a paper for the whole world to see. Being honestly herself, she gave the world an insight on what a revolution it is to just love yourself. I wish to take something from every book I read. To become a reflection of every character that somehow touches my life. The person I am is the aftermath of all the books that I've read.

Book Review : A Stoic's Diary
 24 March 2018

What is Stoicism?Stoicism is an ancient Greek philosophy developed around 300 B.C. as a modification of Cynicism which teaches the development of self-control and courage by fighting destructive emotions. It is not just a set of beliefs but a way of life with practice and including the logic mostly. Soliloquy and a kind of meditation aimed at training one's attention to remain in the present moment is the main characteristic. No wonder it’s not more popular. No wonder the Stoic sage, in Western culture, has never obtained the popularity of the Zen master. Even though Stoicism is far more accessible, not only does it lack the exotic mystique of Eastern practice; it’s also regarded as a philosophy of merely breaking even while remaining determinedly impassive. What this attitude ignores is the promise proffered by Stoicism of lasting transcendence and imperturbable tranquility. It ignores gratitude, too. This is part of the tranquility, because it’s what makes the tranquility possible. Stoicism is, as much as anything, a philosophy of gratitude – and a gratitude, moreover, rugged enough to endure anything.About the book:The title of the book ' A Stoic's Diary '  is very  attention capturing and new. The book cover is very subtle and doesn't talk much about the book. The art of Stoicism is briefly yet illustratively and practically is explained in the book. The concept of mind maps and looking at a problem in different dimensions is observed as the main concept in the book. Self awareness, self help, will power and perseverance are explained in a beautiful manner. One of its kind of a book in the field of Stoicism. Kudos to the author.

CCNA is one of the most regarded Partner level Accreditation on the planet today. Getting a CCNA will assist you with getting a superior activity or if nothing else get your foot into Expert Systems administration Field. When you meet an individual that has CCNA degree you will see that the person knows something about Systems administration. This article will depict and give you a few hints on the most proficient method to accomplish CCNA. I did it so can you, so lets begin.1. Preparing rationally: First thing you have to do is rationally set up your self. What I mean by that will be that you need to genuinely think about on for what reason are you getting CCNA and for what reason would you like to be CCNA affirmed. You need to solidly choose and accept that you will get CCNA inside next 3-6 months or something like that. Attempt to spending plan your investigation time well. On the off chance that you an exceptionally social individual (like me) you should surrender a portion of your social time for the following couple of months. Your loved ones will get it. Trust me: it is well justified, despite all the trouble. When you understand that cert you can compensate for the lost social time.2. Getting the correct examination material: Second thing you have to do is to get appropriate investigation material. There is part of discussion around this and a few people go over the edge with study guides, books, test systems and such. I accept that two Cisco Press books INTR and ICND by Wendell Odom are sufficient to the extent the books go. They are truly elegantly composed and simple to pursue. So sign up at [http://www.ciscopress.com] and get those two books. Ensure you got the most recent form. You will likewise need to get some sort of a test system that will give you a chance to practice directions and that will likewise develop your certainty. You can purchase genuine gear however that could get costly. I profoundly suggest that you become individual from Cisco Confirmation discussion. Discussion is colossal and you will find parcel of accommodating solutions, tips and advices truly brisk. (I realize I did)3. Approach and jumping profound: There are a wide range of ways to deal with examining from books however I will inform you regarding mine. This progression will take the greater part of your considering time. - Before you even start perusing any of the books I recommend learning double math (extremely simple) and subnetting so you can do it in your rest. http//www.learntosubnet.com is brilliant asset. - read the two books coolly once from front to cover (ensure you spread presentation and practice questions as well). This will give you great diagram. - Introduce both Compact disc's that accompanied books and practices a portion of the inquiries. Try not to stress on the off chance that you get parcel of them wrong. - Presently, you will prepared the two books again yet this time you should peruse it to really comprehend the idea and how things work. Ace one section and do inquiries from simply that part until you tired of it. At that point move to the following section. - When you aced all parts do parcel of inquiries and labexercises. Those two Compact disc's will give you capacity to do that. 4. Timetable the test: You're not done at this point with examining however it is great to plan the test after you finished stage 3 in this article. Here is the reason: On the off chance that you plan the test a month ahead of time directly after you finished stage 3, you won't have the option to slack and rationalize not to ponder hard until tests and it is additionally great to give your self a feature. I have seen individuals taking a shot at their CCNA for a long time. They ace a couple of sections, at that point they rest for 2 two months and right when they think they are prepared for the following part, they overlook what they have realized in the principal part. 5. Peruse the two books once again to invigorate. This is discretionary, however I profoundly prescribe perusing the two books once again. In the event that you read the two books in a multi week that will give you one more week before the test to pack which is subject of the subsequent stage. So at this point you should've perused the two books multiple times. I likewise propose re-understanding inquiries and answers from the two books once again. 6. Pack, Pack and Pack - This is the last piece of your investigation and there is no turning back. Cutoff time is staying nearby your neck like a noose. You ought to pack questions and answers for not any more then 10 days before you step through the exam. Now it is extremely significant that you get new and various inquiries then those included with your CD's. A few people asserts that cerebrum dumps or questions and answers are terrible and detestable. I will in general can't help contradicting that. Now you as of now immovably got a handle overall CCNA idea and questions and answers will just support you. So get some questions and answers test question and pack, pack and pack them for seven days. Try not to utilize books or Cd's any longer. There is no thinking back. No stresses, material from the books will come back to you at the perfect time. - Don't do any examining a night or a day prior to the test. Go out with your better half or huge other to a supper and a motion picture. Unwind. It is critical to unwind and get a decent night rest since one of those testing boots could truly be threatening. On the off chance that you did every one of the means above and read books with aim to comprehend the subjects and how stuff functions (no joke proposed), and not simply to finish the assessment you ought to be all the more at that point prepared at this point. We arrived at a finish of this short instructional exercise. I trust this article give you probably a few thoughts on the most proficient method to approach reading for CCNA. In the event that you come up short CCNA first time, don't get disheartened. You will have more learning and certainty when you endeavor it whenever then the individual who passed it on the main attempt. When breath becomes air
 6 March 2018

I began this year with a resolution to fuel my love for books all the more. I am happy that with a two year old toddler to manage-a round the clock job, I have already completed reading three books this year. It is literarily satisfying when the book you have read is the one you would want to re-read from your library.I am a lover of books of fiction. Presently, I am in a zone to explore my reading interest in different genres. The first stop in this road to exploration was a non-fiction autobiography penned down by Paul Kalanithi which was published posthumous. This is an amazing book that transcends you from a real world into a spiritual realm pondering over the questions of life and death – the answers to which the author had been trying to seek all his life.Paul Kalanithi, aged 36, was an eminent doctor and a scientist who was just months away from completing a decade long training in the exhaustive field of neurosurgery when he was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. An alumnus of Yale School and Stanford, he had dreamt of his beautiful future along with his wife Lucy Kalanithi (also a neurosurgeon resident at Stanford) which evaporated one fine day with the news of his diagnosis. This profoundly moving book encapsulates his journey from being a doctor treating terminally ill patients to being a terminally ill patient himself. A tragic role reversal. It is a book that beautifully describes the gruelling life of a doctor, the strain that it can have on the marital life of a doctor, the relationship between a doctor and a patient and the relationship between a doctor and the patients’ families.Every death leaves behind a saga of sadness but some deaths seem particularly cruel. He wanted to become a writer and a dad and he became both only when the reality of his terminal disease dawned on him. His volition to write this book was inexplicable. He penned down his autobiography with immense determination in times of great difficulty. He wore silver-lined gloves to use the trackpad of his laptop when his fingertips began to crack due to the effects of chemotherapy. He has candidly borne his heart out. The essence of this book lies in the account of all the shades of his life to his grave. If he has put some spotlight on his athletic and workaholic side; he hasn’t shied away from exposing his despondent phase, rancorous soul and details of his anguished body. Paul chose the field of medicine to explore the answers to his questions on life and death only to understand them better in his own tryst with death. He breathed his last breath in his sanctuary – the hospital where he had worked relentlessly; in a room barely yards away from where his daughter had been born eight months ago. This book has left an indelible mark on me. I found it deeply moving. I am not someone who is reduced to tears easily but have felt tears forming in my eyes through the course of this book. This book brings you very close to the soul of Paul. You live his journey through his writing. This is one of those books which I wish would never have a ‘The End’ page. I am certain I will read When Breath Becomes Air again.

Please give details about your initial education and forming years of life.I have recently turned 13 and am moving to 8th grade. I have been born and brought up in Gurgaon, Delhi NCR. I started my schooling and continue to be at Shikshantar – a place where I can be ‘me’. From my early days, I have been fascinated by all kinds of cars – that’s what even my teachers from idiscoveri preschool remember about me. As I am growing up, this has become a passion – I am an avid fan of all kinds of car racing – F1, Formula E, Moto GP etc. I enjoy a variety of music and sports - from the age of 6, I started learning tennis & piano and they have gradually become an important part of my routine. I have fun playing games on the Xbox and PS4. And…as expected, I can remain engrossed in books for hours!!! How did you get interested in literature? What inspired you to write?   My parents always encouraged me to spend time with books. I remember listening to a wide variety of amusing stories in Hindi, English and Bengali from my parents and grandparents. This started me on my journey with books and this bond has got stronger day by day. At school, I enjoyed reading (or initially observing the pictures) the books from the small book stacks in the classroom. A few years ago, I and my friends became Tintin fans – we used to exchange the comics and read them together. We still do that with books we are currently interested in. During summer holidays, I have spent my time relaxing with the collection of my mother’s old books (& Archies comics!!!) at my Nani’s house. My interest in literature spans a vast range and I enjoy characters like Famous Five, Geronimo Stilton, Shonku & Feluda, Harry Potter etc. I have been entertained by the works of many authors - Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl, Herge, Ruskin Bond, Satyajit Ray, Agatha Christie. Mystery & adventure is the genre that I love.  At school, we were always encouraged to express our thoughts and feelings on paper – first through art and then through writing. Starting with a few lines in my own spellings, I began writing short pieces based on the themes given in class.  I got a lot of encouragement from my teachers and parents and over time, my writing skills evolved to poems and short stories based on prompts or on areas of my interest. Guided by my English teacher, my mother approached Children’s World magazine and my work was well appreciated by the editor. When my first poem got published, it further boosted my confidence and motivated me to write better .  I was selected for a workshop ‘ Kissa-O-Kalam’ at Sahitya Akademi in May 2017 where I got to learn about different writing techniques from the mentors and hear interesting ideas of my companions. I have also participated in a number of creative writing competitions including Katha Utsav(2015), Scholastic Writing Awards(2016), Hindu Young World Club contests etc. These experiences have brought in new perspectives and enhanced my writing. What is your view about the present-day literary work?Modern day adventure stories excite me. I have read the series of Percy Jackson, Alex Rider and Time Riders. I find these to be thrilling with fast action and quick changes of scenarios – the twists and turns take the story to unexpected endings. Moreover, these adventures always involve some novel type of technological features which makes it more interesting. I find it difficult to put down the book till I have reached the end –you want to finish it as fast as you can to know the climax. Please tell us something about your literary work.I enjoy writing short stories and poems in English. I generally pick up abstract topics and use my imagination to spin stories around them. For this, I draw upon my experiences of travel, stories that I read, games that I play and what I observe around me.Some of my works include:Short stories - Autobiography of a Pair of Socks, A Chance Encounter with Hanumanji, Desert Escapade Poems – The Paper Boat, Fire n Ice, Falcon, Sounds of Silence I have also written few poems and short stories in Hindi – बचपन, जंगल बचाव, मन करताहै What was your first literary work and how was it published? My first literary work was an English poem called ‘Sounds of Silence’ which was published in the ‘Children’s World’ magazine on its 50th anniversary in April 2017. It is a monthly magazine brought out by the Children Book Trust, Delhi and is one of the oldest magazines for children.Where do you see yourself after 5 years in the literary world?                            I am keen to continue writing short stories and hope to sharpen my writing skills in the future. One of the ways I plan to do this is by pursuing my passion for reading. This will help me to get more ideas and to create extraordinary stories. What ways would you suggest to build a community for poets?                          Online platforms help amateur writers to share their works and read contributions from others. This can be enhanced by holding regular events and workshops. Emerging writers get to interact among themselves, appreciate other’s style of writing and learn from each other. Inviting a well known poet or author to share their thoughts will help young writers to get new ideas and develop their writing skills.      What message would you like to give to aspiring new writers?I always believe in the motto “Writing is an exploration. You start from nothing and learn as you go.”                            How was your experience of writing on StoryMirror?Story mirror was convenient to access. The features of a theme picture and introduction helps to arouse curiosity and makes the piece inviting for readers. It is encouraging to know that others are enjoying your writings and read their interesting comments. Would you like to say something about StoryMirror?StoryMirror is a great initiative to bring together young writers and create a community for sharing , learning and developing literary skills. I wish them all the best. Here is the link to read my content https://storymirror.com/profile/62vsms3s/naman-chatterjee/stories

Book Review: Who Will Cry When you Die by Robin Sharma
 1 April 2018

My Rating : 3 / 5I am a not very usual reader of self-help books but I read them time to time. The last self-help book which I read was “You can win” by Shiv Khera in 2009. After that, I did not get chance to read them. Robin Sharma’s Who Will Cry, Whenyou Die might be one of few self-help books which I have selected for myself. I haven’t got chance to read Robin Sharma best-selling book “The monk who sold Ferrari”  but luckily one of my roommate having this book. Confession: I haven’t bought that book but took it on loan from my friend. Might be I will steal from him because that book is simply Awesome.Robin Sharma has written many books on the subject of leadership, self-help, professional guidance, and spirituality. he himself claimed the constant student of philosophy and mentioned that he has amide interest of changing the lives of millions.Irrespective of his attractive writings, he runs the seminars, performs personal classes for high table peoples around the world through his company. This book contains many heart touching topics related to Life, discipline, and leadership. This book is mostly a call for people who don’t want to regrate in their life. I would like to discuss the personal lesson which I vow to follow after reading this book.Write a journal for yourself. It might seem like a crazy idea but I think everyone must try this once in their life. I used to write personal diaries from 2005 to end of 2009. But after being in Job and same monotonous life sucked up my passion for reading, writing and learning for few years. I took the vow to relive my habit of reading in 2014 and that year I have completed 50 books and almost reading more than 12000+ pages. In the year 2016, I also promise to my self that I will start writing and I am doing it from 2016 to till now through this blog. Now I feel that, while these two habits change my life tremendously, this book remind me about my third habit for writing journals for myself. I am a great fan of fountain pens and paper white crispy dairies. I have good fountain pen but next week I am going to buy a diary for talking to myself.Learning Tough loveThis is might be the most difficult thing to do. But I am going to learn tough love with my life. I am not allowing my laziness to fill my days with excuses and crying about things cant be change. I am going to stick with myself (Mind and Body). I remember that one of my European friends told me thatIndians are great people with lot’s of potential but they lack consistency and discipline.I agree with my European friend. Indians even after having so much energy, fail to channelize that power because we believe that breaking the rule is normal. We (as an Indian) don’t believe in the firm and steady lifestyle while we believe that things get settle down eventually. That’s where we are weak and we lack focus.I personally need to reinstate that focus in my life. It can be started with minor but permanent changes. Like I have started to wake up 6:00 AM anyhow. I vow to get into bed around 11:00PM. I have told myself that I will read minimum one hours daily. Eat almonds for my health.Having a book all the time with meThis is one of the ideas which I like most. I mean how many of us notice that we waste our time by sleeping, chatting and gossiping during the day. How many of us waste their hundred hours by standing at lines, watching TV’s shows rather than having a book which can give us million dollar ideas like this one did to me.I am not saying that everyone must have the book and read it unconsciously. But I am saying that use the time which is being wasted in your life.My Mantra is simple: Life is short, Read !!Original Blog

Interview With Anuradha Singh
 18 June 2018

Anuradha is working in the field of academics from past 18 years. She has worked in a variety of schools across India as an English Language teacher, along with an experience of working in Nalanda University. She is also an avid blogger and writes from her heart at www. anuradhastringsofmyheart.com Being alumni of Fergusson college, Pune and a post graduate in English Literature and then working as a teacher; writing poems, travelogues, articles and then a novel came naturally to her. As an army officer wife, she has experienced and explored India from North to South and East to West as India’s true citizen. Though a Punekar by birth, she loves every moment of her wandering life and calls herself as the new age gypsy. A mother of two boisterous boys and a charming lady wife of a serving officer, a teacher and a writer, she wears all these varied caps with élan. What inspires you to write the book?Social evil spread rampant made me restless and that restlessness made me write a story of triumph of good over evil that too a battle waged by a woman who had nothing extraordinary about her, just will to eradicate evil from society and save her brethren. How did publishing your debut novel “The Mysterious Widows of Mehboobpura” change your process of writing?I am even more motivated, more responsible and disciplined. Of course since I have gone through the process once now I know the do’s and don’t of the craft. What is the main thing you want readers to take away from this book? The central idea of the book that social evils like drugs and other things which can finish a complete generation, a healthy society should be curbed and finished at all costs, it is possible to fight against it at your level, individually as well and it should be done by each and everyone of us.What are your hobbies, passion other than writing?Other than writing I enjoy travelling, listening to music and of course I read a lot.If I have a good book in my hand then I forget everything else.Do you recall the first ever book/novel you read?Yes, I was very small then, mere 3 year old. My father got me an illustrated dictionary with amazing illustrations to describe the word, along with an interesting sentence. I kept that book with me for longest time. It was part of my childhood memories. I lost it somewhere when we changed our house. What does your writing/reading space look like?My writing place is very quiet, calming. It changes according to the perception of a person. For me, my book getting published, gives me a stupendous feeling for the main reason that words do not have death. Words change into knowledge and will always float in this worldly space. How did you feel when the publisher accepted your draft for the first time ?The idea of the novel was revolving in my head for quite sometime, it was crystal clear in my head. When it got accepted by the publisher though, i gave a contented sigh, as it was a first sign that now the book is on its way for publishing.Tell us something interesting that has occurred since you became a writer? It is overall a good feeling, when people read my book and come up to me or call me to tell that they enjoyed it thoroughly. This feeling that I can give a good story to people, and people can take something out of it , gives a high. One character from your books, that you like the most?Though the character of the main protagonist Ira is very impressive. I like the character Jagtar for his struggle, the ups and down that he goes through. What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?The chapter where Ira visits the pind with Nimrat. I wanted to make it very interesting. I myself was on edge while writing it, as the words were tumbling off my fingers so fast, it was thrilling writing it down. What is that dream goal you want to achieve before you die?To write stories of varied genre, unique characters, thrilling plots, engaging narrative and reach widest number of readers.A message for aspiring writers?Write from your heart, tell a story which you must.It was really a privilege interviewing you. Interview With Revathi Raj Iyer
 21 June 2018

Revathi Raj Iyer is a freelance writer, book reviewer, company director, service volunteer and yoga/fitness enthusiast. Professionally qualified as Company Secretary (India & New Zealand) with legal background, she has worked in the corporate field for over a decade. Bombay is her hometown and Baroda her abode after marriage. When she moved to Fiji Islands, she bid adieu to a rewarding career with a multinational to become a full time mum and pursue her twin passions, yoga and writing. She worked as lecturer of Laws at the University of Fiji. Living between NZ and Fiji, she pursued writing and yoga training and continues her passion after moving to India. She lives in Ahmedabad, India and has completed her next book which is a collection of short stories. Her dream is to write books for children.A couple of easy questions to begin with…First off,  What inspired you to write “My Friendship with Yoga”?Physical activity was dominant in my life right from an early age, as a trained classical dancer, which continued until my late twenties. Thereafter it took a back seat, when I became engrossed with my career together with being hands-on mum to a lovely little daughter alongside other demands that needed my attention. However, things changed when we moved to Fiji Islands, and I got back into fitness with intense aerobics and strength training. As destiny would have it, a disciple of Yogacharya BKS Iyengar was deputed to Fiji to introduce this ancient tradition to the people of Fiji. Yoga was at my door step and I embraced it with heartfelt love. I started writing my yoga journal. One fine day, I decided to give a formal structure to my jottings to reach out to a wider audience. As I wrote the book I had no idea of the publishing process, but I was focussed on my goal. “My Friendship with Yoga” thus took shape and was launched on the 10th January, 2017 at the New Delhi World Book Fair. Thanks to Lifi Publications for making this happen! How do you see writing, as a hobby or a passion?I find writing very therapeutic and it also makes me happy. It is passion that drives me to enter that lonely space, which I beautify with words, plot and characters to create a story. Is yoga a way of life or a way to exercise and meditateYoga and meditation are a way of life for a holistic and healthy lifestyle. It is not instant therapy or about perfecting the postures. It is much more than that.  One has to go through a process of learning – patiently and persistently; and observe the changes it brings about in oneself. Please tell us some more about your debut novel?“My Friendship with Yoga” is about my progression from learning under an instructor to achieving confidence in self-practice and sharing my varied experiences with readers. I have presented the complicated aspects of yoga in a lucid style with practical hints so as to cater book lovers of all age groups and skill levels. The book is divided into three parts:Narrative which combines the physical, psychological and spiritual aspects of yoga, wherein a selection of topics along with interesting anecdotes have been coveredThe 2nd Part has more than 80 postures with steps to attain these, guidelines, tips, techniques and benefits; keeping in mind yoga enthusiasts, beginners as well as those who have been practising yoga. The 3rd Part consists of the much desired weekly practice schedule written sequentially with clear instructions to enhance one’s practice. What has yoga done for you as a person?Yoga has helped me to deal with a given situation in a pragmatic and dispassionate manner. It has enabled me to let go of the past and negative emotions, be more positive and result-oriented and direct my energies towards my creative pursuit and other commitments. Yoga has certainly helped in making me acknowledge and appreciate the choices I have made so far, and offered me a healthier and more content lifestyle. What sort of research did you do to write this book?I have been reading books on yoga, but “My Friendship with Yoga,” is the outcome of my entire learning process, from the disciple of BKS Iyengar and instructors from the West. My effort was to present the complicated aspects of yoga in simple language that would appeal to readers of all age groups and skill levels. Yoga is not about perfection as different bodies react in a certain way to a certain posture. To that end, my thought process kept evolving during the entire course of my writing. I made several drafts until I was fully satisfied that I had done justice to my work. For each and every asana which has been illustrated in the book, I consciously performed them and wrote down the steps. Every single breath, every movement, position, the sequence had to be accurate. How did you come up with the title of the book “My Friendship with yoga”?It came straight from the heart; in fact I did not falter or ponder over the title. I began writing this book with its title in place. The title was a reminder to simplify yoga and it guided me in writing a user and reader friendly book, which has been appreciated by the reviewers and readers. Fortunately, my publishers were also happy with the title and did not suggest any changes.Besides writing, what else do you do in your free time?Besides writing and reading books; I practice yoga, support my publisher in the promotion of my book, review books for Muse India, handle professional commitment as Director of a company, travel and spend time with my family. I love to bake and cook, and feel delighted when the outcome exceeds my expectations Do you recall the first ever book/novel you read?I don’t recall the title of the first book, but I started off with the Enid Blyton series, followed by Agatha Christie. Were your parents reading enthusiasts who gave you a push to be a reader as a kid?My mum read a lot and I would accompany her to the local lending library. She was not pushy but I gradually picked up the habit and enjoyed those evening walks to the library after school, with my best friend. She will get nostalgic when she reads this! What are your top three favorite books of all time?It is hard to pick just 3, as I have so many favorites. Hmmm….. The Little Prince, Kite Runner, Reluctant Fundamentalist, Namesake…As a new author, what is your favorite part of the writing/ publishing process? Least favorite. My favorite part is the writing itself and working hand-in-glove with the publishers; the book launch being the icing on the cake. My least favorite part is to face rejections without knowing the reason for it, after waiting for months to hear from publishers. What is the main thing you want readers to take away from your book?To understand the pure essence and simplicity of yoga, without feeling intimidated or inadequateAs mentioned in the book, “Yoga is not about perfection. It is a very enjoyable bonding with our body and mind that teaches us to be resilient and patient.”I would like you to share something about yourself with the readers. Something that does not go in the about the author section something that is the real you?I dream a lot and wish that all my dreams came true, hahaha…And finally, A message for aspiring writers?“Rejections are a part of the whole process of being ultimately accepted and acknowledged, as a writer. Please do not give up, no matter what, and pursue your passion, despite the road blocks. Think of the book lovers and connect with them. Write for them and the passion will always be with you.”Thank you. It was really a privilege interviewing you. Hope you enjoyed the interview. Links to buy the book- Amazon.in Amazon.com FlipkartWrite to her at chirminey@gmail.com

Art

Q: Please give details about your initial education and forming years of lifeA: I have done B. Pharm and MBA from NMIMS, Mumbai, with almost three years of corporate experience.Q: How did you get interested in literature? What inspired you to write?A: Writing was always my passion. The form of art which is closest to my heart. I stared writing poetry early 2017. The poets that inspired me and my poetry in Robert Frost and John Keats.Q: What difficulties did you have to face with respect to literary work?A: I feel the difficulty is managing time for writing. Creative writing needs time to develop. As Lisa See, an American writer and novelist says “Read a thousand books, and your words will flow like a river.”Q: What is your view about the present-day literary work?A: Present-day literary is innovative, personal and straight forward and beautiful in its own way. But personally, I love the charm of the classics like ‘DAFFODILS’ by WILLIAM WORDSWORTH or ‘THE ROAD NOT TAKEN’ by ROBERT FROST Q: Do you think that the emergence of digital and social media has given a new opportunity to creative writers?A: Yes, I’m a blogger which helps in showcasing my work globally and get feedback and comments from the strangers across the globe are motivating me to keep writing. So yes, social media gives an opportunity to share my work as well as learn from others.Q: Please tell us something about your literary workA: I write poems and prose about love and life usually with ciphers, this is the writing style which I am learning and interested to grow with. I draw inspiration from nature, the books I read, places I visit and people in meet. Proses I usually characterize by the use of full sentences and paragraphs that tend to proceed uninterrupted in a linear fashion until they are complete to give description to develop concrete, complete ideas, aiming to leave the reader with his own interpretation of it. Whereas poetry, on the other hand, I write in nonlinear fashion, using fragments of thoughts, feelings, and images to convey a certain message to the readers aiming to generate feelings which I hold while writing. Like smiling together with the reader or crying with the pain that the poetry holds.Q: What was your first literary work and how was it published? A: I started my journey initially with articles related to real life events or current events, which grew into short stories and novels. But I truly find myself now as a poet. I enjoy getting lost in time when I’m writing, liking living in a completely different universe. My poems are published in WordPress and StoryMirror. Q: How many ways literature can contribute to society in future?A: Literary works serve as a food for thought and encourage imagination and creativity. Exposing oneself to good literary works, is equivalent to providing one with the finest of educational opportunities. On the other hand, the lack of exposure to good literature is equal to depriving oneself from the opportunity to grow. Literature allows you to understand and experience systems of living and other worlds. We get a view of the inside looking out, a personal view and insight into the minds and reasoning of someone else. We can learn, understand, and appreciate it; and that how society can grow. Q: Where do you see yourself after 5 years in the literary world?A: In 5 years, I see myself to be a more matured writer with my few poetry books published. And to be growing in people’s heart.Q: What ways would you suggest to build a community for poets?A: Develop a place where poets can share there works and get feedbacks from fellow like minded poets. This will not only give more opportunity to grow but also to learn from each other, like a writer’s club.Q: What message would you like to give to aspiring new writers?A: Follow your heart, take risk, and have courage to take the road least traveled. Q: How was your experience of writing on StoryMirror? A: It is a very good platform for both readers and writers. Writers get a platform to share their work and get recognition for it whereas readers get good content to read and learn. Q: Would you like to say something about StoryMirror? A: Keep going strong. Wish you all the success as your success is your writers’ success. Here is the link to read my content https://storymirror.com/profile/4hkaj7vg/shrestha-mukherjee/poems

Awaken The Jackson You Are.
 24 March 2018

Review: The Lightning Thief, in Heroes of Olympus, Rick RiordonImagine being a half happy. Being half sad. Being half of any expression or substance and not completely belonging to a clan or community which you can call your own. Imagine not being able to belong anywhere. Percy was one such character.Rick Riordon with his first novel in the series of Percy Jackson And The Olympians crafts one of the best selling fiction books and etches his name in the world of fantasy literature. In his book, the protagonist, Percy Jackson is anatomically, a half blood being. An exciting blend of human and a god.(That consternation when you imagine humans and Gods procreating!) Adapting many characters from the Greek Mythology of heroes and demons, Riordin traverses the readers through a world where the spectator wants to enter this realm of fantasy and live through it.The book starts to make a direct peak in the young readers life, by showing the Jackson’s tough time surviving in school because of his dyslexic nature. After having changed his school umpteen times, he gives up and makes his up his mind to settle and work towards his improvement in his personal and official life. He lives a normal teenage life, with his mother (who is more human than the two parents!) which comes with its own qualms. He tackles his love interest, reads top rated books and struggles in class like you would expect an average teenager to handle his life to be. Hence making it one of the best reads in fantasy novel section in a student’s and adult’s library too. The twist in his destiny comes when he experiences a tiff with one of his professors. Which is unusual since Percy is one docile creature. The tiff brews into a battle where his real identity is revealed and Percy is welcomed to the world of monsters and gods. After a heated battle and a headfull of mind numbing confusions, Percy returns to his house and is promised by his mom to be taken to his favorite Beach in Mantauk. At Mantauk start the real cat -dog race between dreams and reality. His greatest fear and unsettling notion of not being able to fit anywhere suitable for him and experiencing an unknown power over water gets to him and is teleported. Rordion makes this transition seem so swift and endearing it relates to every student’s transition to high school years, which makes it one of the best children’s books. He is taken to a place where he belongs, Camp Half Blood, and made to introduce with his new group of mates who are just as unique in their genealogy as he is. He, along with his favorite friend,Grover who now has become his satyr are introduced to a world of magic, sorcery and witchcraft. Percy finds himself in the mirror by the masters and centaurs who teach him about his life their and his identity unravels as the son of Poseidon- god of the sea. While Percy is following a strict and lax regime at the same time in his real home, meeting with other Demi-gods(Annabeth) (We ship them together!), things take toll in his personal life as his mom gets kidnapped and the world basically starts to tear down. In such a hassle to understand the reasoning behind these events, he is informed of another accusation made on him the Olympians. He becomes a target under suspicion when the king of the Gods,i.e Zeus’s lightening bolt gets stolen. Percy travels through many worlds and crosses his boundaries on the quest to decipher the thief and clear his name. He encounters many hellhounds, monsters and Oracle prophecies get to Percy just like his examinations and social gatherings used to. He learns and masters his skills and spearheads his connect with water through his half stallion, half human teacher, Chiron and uses them to protect Annabeth, Grover against trouble. While getting rid of Hades and his callous tricks to stop Percy from his pursuit to trap him and his team, he exercises his full power and shows his wrath to the God of Wrath himself. Nobody messes with the son of Sea! After passing all the hurdles and dodging arrows, Percy finally is able to restore the peace amongst the gods in Olympus and he goes onto retrieve his mother as well. A well crafted novel revolving around Greek Gods and monsters become very relatable because of the author’s simplistic and innovative expression makes it an impressive story book in english for adults as well. All turning out well at last, but this is just the latest in the series of new novels under the Heroes Of Olympus by Rick!
