Interview With Revathi Raj Iyer
 21 June 2018

Revathi Raj Iyer is a freelance writer, book reviewer, company director, service volunteer and yoga/fitness enthusiast. Professionally qualified as Company Secretary (India & New Zealand) with legal background, she has worked in the corporate field for over a decade. Bombay is her hometown and Baroda her abode after marriage. When she moved to Fiji Islands, she bid adieu to a rewarding career with a multinational to become a full time mum and pursue her twin passions, yoga and writing. She worked as lecturer of Laws at the University of Fiji. Living between NZ and Fiji, she pursued writing and yoga training and continues her passion after moving to India. She lives in Ahmedabad, India and has completed her next book which is a collection of short stories. Her dream is to write books for children.A couple of easy questions to begin with…First off,  What inspired you to write “My Friendship with Yoga”?Physical activity was dominant in my life right from an early age, as a trained classical dancer, which continued until my late twenties. Thereafter it took a back seat, when I became engrossed with my career together with being hands-on mum to a lovely little daughter alongside other demands that needed my attention. However, things changed when we moved to Fiji Islands, and I got back into fitness with intense aerobics and strength training. As destiny would have it, a disciple of Yogacharya BKS Iyengar was deputed to Fiji to introduce this ancient tradition to the people of Fiji. Yoga was at my door step and I embraced it with heartfelt love. I started writing my yoga journal. One fine day, I decided to give a formal structure to my jottings to reach out to a wider audience. As I wrote the book I had no idea of the publishing process, but I was focussed on my goal. “My Friendship with Yoga” thus took shape and was launched on the 10th January, 2017 at the New Delhi World Book Fair. Thanks to Lifi Publications for making this happen! How do you see writing, as a hobby or a passion?I find writing very therapeutic and it also makes me happy. It is passion that drives me to enter that lonely space, which I beautify with words, plot and characters to create a story. Is yoga a way of life or a way to exercise and meditateYoga and meditation are a way of life for a holistic and healthy lifestyle. It is not instant therapy or about perfecting the postures. It is much more than that.  One has to go through a process of learning – patiently and persistently; and observe the changes it brings about in oneself. Please tell us some more about your debut novel?“My Friendship with Yoga” is about my progression from learning under an instructor to achieving confidence in self-practice and sharing my varied experiences with readers. I have presented the complicated aspects of yoga in a lucid style with practical hints so as to cater book lovers of all age groups and skill levels. The book is divided into three parts:Narrative which combines the physical, psychological and spiritual aspects of yoga, wherein a selection of topics along with interesting anecdotes have been coveredThe 2nd Part has more than 80 postures with steps to attain these, guidelines, tips, techniques and benefits; keeping in mind yoga enthusiasts, beginners as well as those who have been practising yoga. The 3rd Part consists of the much desired weekly practice schedule written sequentially with clear instructions to enhance one’s practice. What has yoga done for you as a person?Yoga has helped me to deal with a given situation in a pragmatic and dispassionate manner. It has enabled me to let go of the past and negative emotions, be more positive and result-oriented and direct my energies towards my creative pursuit and other commitments. Yoga has certainly helped in making me acknowledge and appreciate the choices I have made so far, and offered me a healthier and more content lifestyle. What sort of research did you do to write this book?I have been reading books on yoga, but “My Friendship with Yoga,” is the outcome of my entire learning process, from the disciple of BKS Iyengar and instructors from the West. My effort was to present the complicated aspects of yoga in simple language that would appeal to readers of all age groups and skill levels. Yoga is not about perfection as different bodies react in a certain way to a certain posture. To that end, my thought process kept evolving during the entire course of my writing. I made several drafts until I was fully satisfied that I had done justice to my work. For each and every asana which has been illustrated in the book, I consciously performed them and wrote down the steps. Every single breath, every movement, position, the sequence had to be accurate. How did you come up with the title of the book “My Friendship with yoga”?It came straight from the heart; in fact I did not falter or ponder over the title. I began writing this book with its title in place. The title was a reminder to simplify yoga and it guided me in writing a user and reader friendly book, which has been appreciated by the reviewers and readers. Fortunately, my publishers were also happy with the title and did not suggest any changes.Besides writing, what else do you do in your free time?Besides writing and reading books; I practice yoga, support my publisher in the promotion of my book, review books for Muse India, handle professional commitment as Director of a company, travel and spend time with my family. I love to bake and cook, and feel delighted when the outcome exceeds my expectations Do you recall the first ever book/novel you read?I don’t recall the title of the first book, but I started off with the Enid Blyton series, followed by Agatha Christie. Were your parents reading enthusiasts who gave you a push to be a reader as a kid?My mum read a lot and I would accompany her to the local lending library. She was not pushy but I gradually picked up the habit and enjoyed those evening walks to the library after school, with my best friend. She will get nostalgic when she reads this! What are your top three favorite books of all time?It is hard to pick just 3, as I have so many favorites. Hmmm….. The Little Prince, Kite Runner, Reluctant Fundamentalist, Namesake…As a new author, what is your favorite part of the writing/ publishing process? Least favorite. My favorite part is the writing itself and working hand-in-glove with the publishers; the book launch being the icing on the cake. My least favorite part is to face rejections without knowing the reason for it, after waiting for months to hear from publishers. What is the main thing you want readers to take away from your book?To understand the pure essence and simplicity of yoga, without feeling intimidated or inadequateAs mentioned in the book, “Yoga is not about perfection. It is a very enjoyable bonding with our body and mind that teaches us to be resilient and patient.”I would like you to share something about yourself with the readers. Something that does not go in the about the author section something that is the real you?I dream a lot and wish that all my dreams came true, hahaha…And finally, A message for aspiring writers?“Rejections are a part of the whole process of being ultimately accepted and acknowledged, as a writer. Please do not give up, no matter what, and pursue your passion, despite the road blocks. Think of the book lovers and connect with them. Write for them and the passion will always be with you.”Thank you. It was really a privilege interviewing you. Hope you enjoyed the interview. Links to buy the book- Amazon.in Amazon.com FlipkartWrite to her at chirminey@gmail.com

Book Title: Table For OneAuthor: Neha BindalFormat: Paper BackTotal Number of Pages: 180Language: EnglishPublisher: HALF BAKED BEANSPublishing Date: 20 July 2018ASIN: B07FQ7MWBCTaara Maheshwari, a single woman in her thirties and a successful lawyer, is tough from outside but a die heart fan of romantic movies from inside. She grew up seeking her “happily ever after’ but amid various heartbreaks and culture of modern age short term relationships, her believe in “true connections" got replaced by the comfort of being “emotionally disconnected.”After she turned 31, her parents persuaded her into meeting a guy for marriage who sounded just perfect for her. Acting on impulse, she told her parents that she would meet him only if they let her go on a trip to Europe. As Taara went on to explore the world, she experienced what actually happens when a single Indian girl travels to Europe all by herself. Is it only about dancing, singing or falling in love? What happens after you fall in love? Does love conquer all? Only her story would tell.My TakeThis is the story of protagonist Taara Maheshwari, a successful lawyer in her early thirties still unmarried. She is a confused women, who had encountered some heart breaks and doesn't know what to she wanted in her life. As her parents convinces for an arrange marriage. To which she agreed only if her parents would allow her for solo trip in Europe before marriage. She promised to meet the man once she returned back from the trip fortunately her parents agreed. She thinks it's an escape from marriage and quit her job to fulfill her dream to take a solo trip to Europe. Here her self-exploration starts with travelling diverse destinations, meets different kinds of peoples all around there, sang a song in public, danced crazily, went on trekking,  and many more she explored the Europe. Taara in this trips founds new friends as well as she is attracted towards Fred and was in love with him. To know more what happen next read the book. The book is a bag of emotions of love, heartbreaks, travel, romance, adventure, external love, internal love, self realization, happiness, peace, friends, family, life, and many more.Language is simple crisp and lucid and has the ability to bring live the events narrated in the book. The story flows like a movie and takes the readers on a journey  to Paris, Switzerland and Italy with Taara the every scene is so well written than you can actually get images of them in your mind. Characterization should be have been strong and done better and i don't like the sudden climax. The faced paced and engaging narration. The writer’s words has the capacity to hold the reader till the last page. The storytelling style was different and simply adorable. I loved Taara character through out the book. Characterization should be done better and i don't like the sudden climax. The cover and title is beautifully crafted. We are all taught that the most beautiful part of a fairy-tale is “happily ever after”. But we fail to notice that all fairy tales begin with “Once upon a time”. Once. It all happened. It was all real. Once. No matter who we are, what we do, or where we live, deep inside we all feel incomplete. It’s like we have lost something and need to get it back. Just what that something is, most of us never find out. And of those who do, even fewer manage to go out and look for it. Alone wasn’t just a closed dark room anymore but a whole wide world full of opportunities. I needed to explore and occupy the vastness of the world inside of me, which until now I hadn’t truly understood. Like the houses we build, the sky was also a shelter to few.I'll recommend this book to all the avid reader's.Overall 4/5 StarsGrab the copy here- AMAZON

BORN FREE TO LIVE IN A CAGE
 16 March 2018

All over the world, countries celebrate their independence day with great pride and gusto showcasing their strength and progress to be admired and awed by people. However, I wonder at times are we; human beings really free or liberated? Do we enjoy freedom in true sense? I’ll keep my thought process limited to India without going to the other parts of the world.Every human being according to me is free only at the time of birth. A baby has no worries about projecting the “right public image” and is happy doing anything and everything he wants to. As we grow, we are caged, shackled in many chains by the society- Social, cultural, emotional and lately technological. It starts when the baby (I’ll use ‘She’ as a pronoun as it encompasses ‘he’ too J!) is hardly a toddler. Parents love to show off his/her talents without any consideration for his/her moods and fancies. She has to sing or dance and entertain the relatives who are often least interested. Then there is a marathon for the best school in the city. The kid is again forced to mug up the likely questions to be asked at the interview, learn to behave in a certain manner at the age when she just wants to be left on her/his own.    Once at school the comparison starts with all the other children. Every parent wants the child to be the best - marvelling at studies, sports, debates and elocutions, arts, theatre, social etiquette and so on. In short she has to be a Superwoman, while the mothers sweat over every small detail like deciding what hobbies are “in”, what vitamin supplements to give the child for super-built body and extra-intelligent brain, what kind of clothes are in vogue for kids and so on. All advertisements put the pressure on parents to make a scientist/ doctor/ engineer or any professional (Please note that none off the advertisements think much of artists or farmersL! No wonders farmers have remained the most vulnerable lot in our “agrarian” economy for decades!). The harried parents, in turn pass on this frenzied madness on to their children. Every parent dreams of having a super successful child prodigy, irrespective of own talents that he has passed on in the child’s DNA at birth. We want our children to follow the career chart we have created for them taking in consideration the status, social acceptance, and money it will yield. What the child’s interests are is totally ignored.Once the school and college marathon is over and youth gets a plum job, then the other social pressures build up. A girl must learn to be graceful, super talented at juggling home and demanding career, must be having all the socially accepted attributes like – fair, tall, slim, social yet home-loving, educated yet sacrificing, modern yet with traditional values and the list is endless. This brings me to the fairness obsession in our country where most girls are bound to be wheat complexioned due to our geographic and climatic conditions. Having a dusky complexion is looked down upon and if you have a darker skin only God or fairness creams save you! I find the advertisements so ridiculous when a girl dreaming of a great career has to rely on fairness creams to prove her mettle! If she wants to remain single by choice then hell breaks loose. If she marries then her womanhood is not considered complete till she delivers a baby. Why I wonder, in a free country it becomes a privilege of all and sundry to barge into couple’s bedroom and discuss why are they not having kids and what could be wrong with them. Can we not let the parents decide when they want to bring in a life that is going to be their responsibility till they are alive?Men on the other hand are forced to bring home a handsome pay package and comparisons of how much comforts and luxury a neighbour can afford to give his wife vis- a -vis the poor husband becomes a main topic of contention. Once they become parents they too merrily join the same rat race that their parents had joined to ruin them. These are some of the socio-cultural shackles I strongly feel about. Emotional shackles too are somewhat intertwined in these as usually our Indian society loves to emotionally blackmail their loved ones to follow their commands. Log kya kahenge is the most dangerous epidemic that has been afflicted by Asian psyche. Social approval is a bug that has bitten all of us. Imagine the emotional state of a young girl when she is more than often rejected because she is NOT fair, slim or beautiful. She is most often an easy prey to depression. I wonder why we give so much importance to external attributes while totally ignoring the more important ones like nature, intelligence, compatibility etc. in a life partner. Are we shopping here for a curio to beautify home or wanting someone with whom we can share our lives! And same things go for men too - what with markets flooded with anti-balding treatments and all those fairness creams for men? He too is expected to earn well, be qualified with the most lucrative degree, have a macho figure etc. I often hear young girls asking for well sculpted men as their life partners. SO now the fire has reached even the other side of the society. At a young age he’s expected to offer all the comforts and luxuries when he’s still building his career!Added to all these cages, the worst shackle is the technology. We think human being created technology for comforts but today it has totally backfired on us impacting every aspect of the society. Just look around and see for yourself what have smart phones done to our lives! The downfall that started with the idiot box and further fuelled with the internet has been completed by the smart phones. Phones are getting smarter and humans are getting dumber. I’ve nothing against technology and if used sensibly it can be a great boon. We can now reach the entire world in a split second. Emails have become a passé with the advent of other more powerful and faster means of communication. Often Facebook and twitter has helped in reuniting people or in sending across a useful message. Today I too am saying what I feel thanks to this technology. We can surely not ignore the good things. However, we can’t turn a blind eye to the damage it does to our most profound institutions of marriage, family and society as a whole.  Families are fast disintegrating today as each one is happy to be in his on anda cell created by his Laptop, smart phone, personal TV or a tablet, and is constantly in his world with his headsets on. Cheating in marriages has never been so rampant and easy with the right to privacy. Virtual affairs ruin many marriages as one doesn’t understand that virtual love is bound to appear “perfect” and it’s only when you actually start life together you need to adjust and understand. Recently, a study revealed how social skills are being affected in this generation that spends most of its time in the virtual world. Family time is unheard of with each one immersed in his on virtual world. We forget that though wired from all sides we are not robots but human beings who are bound to need emotions like warmth, love and touch to thrive. The older generation who is not very tech savvy feels the brunt the most. They are mostly treated like a piece of furniture. The youth has no connect with parents leave alone grandparents. In our desire to connect across miles we have been disconnected from our own family.Family outings, dinners and gatherings do happen surprisingly even today but the most time and attention is hogged by these smart phones. Family time has become a joke with each member immersed in one’s cell phone- exchanging messages. Checking face book updates, updating status and so on.The family vacations are more for clicking selfies and check-ins to let the whole world on social media know the exotic place one is heading to. There have been many stand up comedies, what’s app forwards and tongue in cheek cartoons aimed at this but I feel we are quick to ignore these warning bells and laugh it off merely as a humour. So many have lost lives clicking selfies at dangerous spots but we are too slow to understand the implications. Are we really a generation of dimwits and our cell phones smarter than us? Only God save us in such situation…!All pictures Courtesy- https://unsplash.com

Pushkar is located amidst of Aravalli range. It is one of the five sacred dhams for devout hindus. That’s why it is called “tirtha-raj”, which literally means the king of pilgrim sites. Pushkar is also famous for the Pushkar Lake, which has 52 ghats. Pilgrims from across the country visit the lake to take a dip in its holy water. If you are planning to visit the Pushkar fair, then you have to plan in the month of kartik purnima (according to hindu calendar). There are many marvelous spots in pushkar which give you pleasant feeling. Here there is a list of some coolest things to do in Pushkar with the Help of Pushkar Tour Package1)Take the Camel Safari:- The dunes around Pushkar can be best explored on a camel. Riding through the desert atop of a camel is an amazing experience. It’s a bumpy but a rthymic ride through the quiet desert, the loudest sound being the swish of camel feet on the sand. It will give you a glimpse of the rustic village in the desert and the life in desert. You can hire camels from the fairground or can ask your hotel to arrange for one.2) Attend the Evening Aarti at Varah Ghat:-Evening Aarti is the best experience, and you should not miss it. Thousands of people gather at the ghats. As the chants begin the atmosphere gets filled with the fragrance of incense sticks and roses. The sound of ringing bells comes in chorus from many temples surrounding the lake. The whole ambience feels divine and transports you to a different world altogether. While the evening sky fills with the gold of the setting sun, the lake looks pretty with numerous floating diyas.3)Take the Hot air balloon ride:-This was one of the scintillating experiences when you ride on the balloon. You can enjoy the whole fair from the sky without any crowd. This gives you a wonderful scene of Pushkar lake. You are recommended to do advance booking at the time of fair.4) Take the Jeep safari:-Travellers with a penchant for adventure must try jeep safaris. Finance for kids : Why is US dollar more powerful than Indian Rupees
 2 March 2018

Adult (A) : Say there are two kids in the world. You and your friend. Noone else exists.Kid (K): Ok.A: You produce apples and your friend produces oranges. Since you love oranges and your friend love apples, you make a deal that every month your friend will give you 100 oranges in return for 100 apples. This is called barter system - you give me some goods or services and your friend pays you back in terms of goods and services. This practices remained for some time until there was some natural calamity in your area and you failed to produce sufficient apples for a month. But you wanted oranges. You went to your friend's place and asked for oranges.K: But why would he give me anything, when he knew that I couldn't keep my promises.A: Correct. So he made a deal. He gave you some paper, which had some agreement that you would pay him back oranges that he was lending to you. The agreement was made with the assumption that, you were an honest guy and you would keep your promises and when you had apples, you would return him back. Exchange of goods in this format gave birth to a new concept called "Money". In economic terms, it is called 'Fiat economy'- where goods are exchanged for something which cannot have a direct utility. Money has utility only when it is exchanged. Until now you had the need for oranges only. But say, you desired for pineapple, strawberries etc. and there are few more players in the market who are exchanging those fruits by issuing different paper notes. This kind of practice gives rise to the 'global currencies' where the value of each currency is different from rest of the world.C: But won't the value of each currency be same in a fair world?A: Yes, in an ideal world, the value of each currency or fiat money should be same. But here comes the complex scenario which is driven by power and greed. Every player in the market wants to get more by paying less. So your apple might not be as appealing to someone as it appeals to other and you end up paying more apples for same goods and services you get from others. C: Why would I pay more when I can get it at a fair price from someone else?A: The fair price is driven by market perception about certain goods and services. Since more players are in the market, more perception prevails. Good, bad and ugly are differentiated by perceptions only.C: Who controls perceptions?A: Good question. The dominant and powerful player in the market controls the perception. By influencing others he will make others realize that his goods or services are better than others and hence demand more value in return.C: But tell me how USD influenced the market to be the dominant player and hence more powerful in the currency market.A: Before world war I, every country was trying to influence other countries to become the dominant player in the market. During that time, Theodore Roosevelt influenced the neighboring countries to follow USD as foreign exchange currency rather than gold, which was used until that period of time. Some notable examples can be read in the history of  Cuba, Venezuela, Santo Domingo and panama. America had been engaged in producing arms by that time and was supplying to foreign countries including united kingdom.During world war 1, America gave some good number of arms to United Kingdom, who was under financial crisis and was dependent upon its' ruling countries like India and some south-east Asian countries to generate sufficient money to afford luxury the Britishers were accustomed to. During the financial crisis of world war I, United Kingdom took arms from US trough a negotiation or deal known as Liberty Bond, which amounted to over $20 billon, which would be much more than what is America's current national economy at the moment.C: You mean UK was knowing they cannot pay back the loan, but they were still keen on taking the arms from US to fight against other countries and in that case Americans were keen on giving some loans which they were confident that it could not be repaid.A: Power to control others and the greed to have more are biggest vices of the human being. The then political strategists of America were thinking much beyond their time - at least 50 years ahead of time. UK sooner became an ally in America's endeavor to have USD as global currency post world war II. But acceptance by few countries does not make a currency truly global.C: What happened next?A: After world war II, America was perceived as the super power of the world. Thanks to some scientist who could not visualize the impact of atom bomb before inventing them. Every country was agreeing to a global bank known as World Bank and fund of funds known as International monetary fund. The duty of both entities were to ensure fair market practices in the globe. However influence of US continued and they changed the exchange methods from gold transactions to US dollar. There were a lot of factors which were either manipulated or done strategically to get it done.C: I understand dollar became global currency, but why it became more powerful than Indian rupees.A: Once you have the control of global currency, you can manipulate that in your favor. I will go back to that apple and orange examples. Now that your apple is purchased by US, who has certain criteria of selection of apples to know the fair price of apples. After careful observations, it is declared that your 100 apples are actually 50 apples worth as per US standard. You have two choices - either you don't sell apple or sell in the different market. Say in such scenarios, you don't have the sufficiently big market to sell your apples and you know that if you fail to sell in US, you might lose more money. You don't bargain much and accept the negotiations done by them. When everyone started accepting the terms defined by them, the power of dollar became more. I hope that answers your question.C: Can it never be reversed. I mean INR becomes more powerful than USD?A: Yes, logically possible, for that India as a country has to think ahead of time and the strategist and policymaker make the country self-dependent and more job opportunity is created internally rather than dependent upon foreign resources. Many of the natural resources are under-utilized in India so as the human capital. If that is oriented in right manner, then time is not far we see the reverse action. India needs to be technologically sound and the education system should teach how to be innovative and creative rather than just compete to score marks. I strongly believe, your generations can do.C: Yes, we will. Thank you for the answer.

The characters(tribes) are too many to remember, infact i referred the book back and forth to not to miss flow. Book is fast paced and always taking unpredictable twist and turns, sometimes it becomes as well.Kalki sets off on a battle to finish Adharm. Will he succeed in saving the world? The book is divided to two parts: Battle of Shambala & Rise of kali (My Favorite)I see many similarities with the actual mythological characters1. Sage Shuka (Parrot Head)2. Lakshmi (Godess)3. Arjan (Arjuna)4. Thakshak5. Vasuki and so on.Special mention to the Book Cover – “The BEST BOOK COVER” till date, The characters are excellently written and well placed in the story. The pace of the book is very good. Super fine paper quality.Remarkable effort of the young author in through research, I’m sure he would have referred to various scriptures and epics before bringing this book out. If you are a lover of fantasy and mythology, this book is highly recommended. This book carries almost all the aspects and breaking the myth of complex words when we take the mythological reference. Nothing in specific, I liked everything in this book. Hope unanswered questions are addressed in Satya Yoddha Kalki – The Eye of BrahmaPS: While I post this, I see the second book is taking its form. Cant wait more to read the next book in this series.Direct Link: https://www.amazon.in/Dharmayoddha-Kalki-Avatar-Vishnu-Book/dp/8193503309/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1522175115&sr=8-1&keywords=kalki+by+kevin+missalRegardsKiran K Adharapuram

Book Review- Prisoned In Love
 3 May 2018

I picked up this thriller book and glad to have read it. Fully enjoyable and worth your time; this book will not disappoint you. More than romance I love crime and thriller books and this story gave me another reason to grow fond of this genre. This story was a different one from regular thriller stories and I enjoyed reading this book. This is not a complete thriller and suspense as it has an element of love in it.Starting with the cover of the book, it is lovely and eye-catching. It is appealing to the eyes of the readers and they get instantly curious to read the book. This is one of the main reasons behind me picking up this book. The title is also perfect for the storyThe protagonist Rayirth Kapoor was leading almost a near perfect life with an amazing job in the Bank of America, with a lovely wife and daughter. All was fine till the life turned like a nightmare for him. The insomnia and the after effects of it made this one a scary read at times. When you put yourself in the place of the protagonist, you might feel chills going down your spine. Undoubtedly the plot was mysterious but the sequence of events became predictable at times probably because I have seen quite a large number of crime and thriller series. This book would have been one of the best ones in this genre that I have read if it was free of errors. The printing and grammatical errors at frequent intervals broke my flow of reading at times. Otherwise this book can be completed in a single go without losing much interest. A must read for the ones who are fond of crime and thriller genre. Others can give it a read because undoubtedly it is a good book if you ignore the errors in it.Plot- 4 / 5Narration- 3.5 / 5Cover- 4 / 5Title- 4.5 / 5Overall- 4 / 5

Everything you need to know about Prabhat Ranjan
 14 April 2018

Prabhat Ranjan is a Hindi novelist from Bihar. He entered the writing scene with his debutnovel With You; Without You in the winter of 2017 and since the launch of his debut novel, his popularity as an author has only reached new heights.A less talkative person, Prabhat Ranjan comes from a family with a political background andhis father is a senior politician. An engineer by profession, Prabhat has been writing shortstories and poems way before he finally decided to enter the field of writing formally with afull-length fiction. Nevertheless, as an engineer, Prabhat did not let himself be aloof ofliterature - he is a serious reader as well as a serious author and he wants to contributemore and more with his pen.Already finished his second novel, Prabhat Ranjan's writing style is very different from otherfiction writers out there. He has uniqueness! His writings are not only meant to create abestselling fiction; he has his purposes in every word he writes. Even with the first novel, which subsequently became a bestseller, he had a very good message to deliver to the reading audience. The novel is not only about love and friendship, it is also about the depths of relationships. With You; Without You shares a message with the readers that the need of family and the need of good company in life can never be substituted with anything! To put things in a better perspective, Prabhat is from that old school of writers with hisimagination not limited to a certain theme or story. He does write with the purpose but hedoes not limit himself to write only the moral stories which seem like a preacher's sermon;his stories do have the elements which make them contemporary and offer the youngreaders something to relate to.In developing characters, Prabhat does have a speciality! In his first novel, he has proved tothe readers as well as to critics that his characterisation is unique and he gives ampleopportunity to his characters to converse, indulge, move on and eventually change. In thevery first novel, his character Nishind has impressed the readers a lot. The character ofNishind is designed in such a way that readers know he might be doing something wrongbut instead of denouncing his acts, readers develop a kind of sympathy for him. This is thebeauty of his character. Another character that impresses the readers is of Rashmi Desai -an independent working woman who braves the bad relations of her parents and the wrongdeeds of her friends but still manages to fulfil her dreams and reach the heights that she hasimagined for herself in the very childhood. In the terms of plot construction, nonetheless, the readers can surely expect somethingbetter only. As the author has himself admitted in many of his interviews, With You;Without You was just a staircase that he has used for himself to write something bigger - hisupcoming story, Priyanka - A Pakistani Girl. Therefore, the plot in his first novel does notimpress as does his story or his characterisation. Still, his plot is there to certainly be calledgood and it helps the construct of the novel; it surely holds the story and the characterstogether but can certainly be improved to betterment.Putting Prabhat Ranjan's entry into Hindi literature in a larger perspective certainly gives thereaders something new as a concept of Hindi literature. More and more young and energetic writers are coming who are willing to write in Hindi and offer the readers the works which deal with the issues other authors, in the past, did not wish to write. Prabhat's dealing with the issues like sex, love, divorce, family issues in vivid perspective is certainly new and encouraging for the overall contemporary Hindi literature. One can certainly argue that there were the authors who wrote on all these issues, but one must remember that they did not write as freely as the modern authors are doing. And it is certainly very good because of the modern readers want to read everything! And to conclude the contribution of Prabhat to Hindi literature and his current one, WIthYou; Without You, it can safely be said that he has a long road to go. Only after two of threemore of his works, a person will be in better position to judge him as an author and evaluatehis skills at writing. Nonetheless, assumptions can certainly be made based on his novelwhich has already been published and has become a bestseller! The debutants who becomebestsellers certainly require a scrutiny and one similar attempt has been made here. Wehope that we will soon have another book by Prabhat Ranjan to read!

Book Review:- Kansa (Book one of the killer trilogy)
 13 April 2018

Book Name:- Kansa (Book one of the killer trilogy)Author Name:- Prassant KevinPublisher:- Inked Company PublishingBook Pages:- 398 pagesDescription:-“One of the best Thriller novels written by an Indian Author.”“‘Professor Black is India’s Jack Reacher.” “You Cannot escape this thriller.” “Breathtaking. Original. Spine-Chilling and a perfect start to the TRILOGY.” OVER A SPAN OF TEN YEARS, HE KILLED FORTY PREGNANT WOMEN AND THEN VANISHED WITHOUT A TRACE. AFTER FIVE YEARS OF SILENCE, HE IS BACK AGAIN, SEEKING HIS NEXT VICTIM. ONLY ONE MAN CAN STOP HIM – PROFESSOR BLACK. Maher was found unconscious in the middle of the highway and later, in the hospital, she revealed that she had escaped from a killer’s house. All the details and patterns matched the serial killer ‘Kansa,’ who had disappeared five years ago after murdering forty pregnant women. ACP Saargi Desai was assigned to the case. She appealed to her department to bring back Professor Black to help her catch the killer. The Professor, who had a haunting past that had kept him away from the world of crime and investigation for several years, was not willing to take on this case. But the ACP managed to convince him to get on board just for this one last time. Soon after agreeing to help, the Professor realized that for the first time in his life, he had met his match. As he dug deeper into the case, everything got dirtier, the stakes went higher, and nothing was what it seemed.Review:- Oh my my my!!!! What a book…hats off to the author… after a very very long time, I read a book which hooked me till d end and kept me wondering who the culprit was..I couldn’t guess it until the end..The story is written exceptionally well..it has that power which u need in a thriller fast paced book…as soon as I started this I knew I would love every bit of this book.. it is a book about a person who is called ‘kansa’ and who has killed more than 50 people including pregnant women, infants etc.. it all started when Maher met with a road accident and was admitted in the hospital where she revealed that she has escaped from a house where she was kept after kidnapping and also revealed that person was a killer.. ACP Saargi Desai is in charge of this case and after getting into this case she knew she needed help from someone who has vanished from this field years ago she insists commissioner and he agrees to her demands.. than professor comes into the picture he is a man who is alcoholic, aggressive, violent and has numbers of escorts girls as speed dials but he is the only person who can help them crack the case..While trying to solve the case the facts that are portrayed, the twists and turns, people dying, the overall concept was written by the author is brilliant… we can see love, betrayal, duty all in this book…cannot wait for the next book in the series now and I am damn sure it will also be the same…intriguing, thriller, ride of roller coaster all in one book…How do they get hold of Kansa is really worth reading..Overall Rating:- ★★★★★ Hema Suresh Talrejastylishangel28@yahoo.co.in

Book Review -Kansa Book One of The Killer Trilogy
 13 April 2018

Book Review: Kansa (Book 1 - The Killer Trilogy) by Prassant KevinSo, after a very disappointing start to February with Keepers of Kalachakra, I decided to pick this one up for a bit of light read. I was provided this book in exchange for an honest review and I would try my best to be as honest as possible. I chose this book for the sole reason that it did not promise any cheesy romance that Indian authors churn these days and the blurb provided quite an interesting read about a serial killer. Did the book live up to the expectation? Here is my take on it.Blurb (From Amazon):Over a span of ten years, he killed forty pregnant women and then vanished without a trace. After five years of silence, he is back again, seeking his next victim. Only one man can stop him - Professor Black. Maher was found unconscious in the middle of the highway and later, in the hospital, she revealed that she had escaped from a killer's house. All the details and patterns matched the serial killer 'Kansa,' who had disappeared five years ago after murdering forty pregnant women. As he dug deeper into the case, everything got dirtier, the stakes went higher, and nothing was what it seemed. My Take on the Book:Imagine you are being provided a box of Bertie Bott's every flavor bean recommended by a friend and as soon as you take the first bite, you get a bad flavor. The same case happened with me while I was reading this book. Within the first 10 pages of the book, you realize the book was more of an essay rather than a thriller that was expected. Even though the plot was quite promising and had a huge potential, the book just did not live up to the expectation. What promised to be a brilliant plot falls flat due to bad editing, concurrent plot holes and inconsistency in characters. I could count almost three characters whose names changes in the course of the plot due to either spelling errors or the author took the liberty to change the name of the characters which were a synonym to the original name. What I would have preferred was if the author had taken the approach of a more dialogue-oriented story which would have added more clarity and thrill to the novel.Coming down to the characters, except for the main protagonist, none of the characters make any impact on the story. To avoid revealing any spoilers, I would just say, none of the characters did match up to their qualifications that were boasted in the book. Also, at many places, the main character would easily get his hands on things that are generally not quite accessible at many places and that added a few weird expressions on my face. There is always light at the end of the tunnel and since I have been talking quite negative about this book, let's also talk about some positives. Yes, as I mentioned earlier, the plot does seem promising and if the author ties up some of the loopholes, the novel works quite well. Also, since it is the first of the trilogy, there is a vast room for improvement in his future novels. The main protagonist does seem to be larger than life currently, but if this can be handled in future novels, it could just add to the betterment of the character and the novels. So go for it, if you want to read something interesting but where you don't have to put too much of your thinking cap on it. Also, for a person who is a fan of Bollywood Masala movies, this won't be a letdown. My Rating: 1/2 out of 5 (Hoping against hope, that the shortcomings are taken care in future novels)Book in Three Words: Thrilling. Glitched. Exaggerated.murtu.kool@gmail.com

Book Review: Who Will Cry When you Die by Robin Sharma
 1 April 2018

My Rating : 3 / 5I am a not very usual reader of self-help books but I read them time to time. The last self-help book which I read was “You can win” by Shiv Khera in 2009. After that, I did not get chance to read them. Robin Sharma’s Who Will Cry, Whenyou Die might be one of few self-help books which I have selected for myself. I haven’t got chance to read Robin Sharma best-selling book “The monk who sold Ferrari”  but luckily one of my roommate having this book. Confession: I haven’t bought that book but took it on loan from my friend. Might be I will steal from him because that book is simply Awesome.Robin Sharma has written many books on the subject of leadership, self-help, professional guidance, and spirituality. he himself claimed the constant student of philosophy and mentioned that he has amide interest of changing the lives of millions.Irrespective of his attractive writings, he runs the seminars, performs personal classes for high table peoples around the world through his company. This book contains many heart touching topics related to Life, discipline, and leadership. This book is mostly a call for people who don’t want to regrate in their life. I would like to discuss the personal lesson which I vow to follow after reading this book.Write a journal for yourself. It might seem like a crazy idea but I think everyone must try this once in their life. I used to write personal diaries from 2005 to end of 2009. But after being in Job and same monotonous life sucked up my passion for reading, writing and learning for few years. I took the vow to relive my habit of reading in 2014 and that year I have completed 50 books and almost reading more than 12000+ pages. In the year 2016, I also promise to my self that I will start writing and I am doing it from 2016 to till now through this blog. Now I feel that, while these two habits change my life tremendously, this book remind me about my third habit for writing journals for myself. I am a great fan of fountain pens and paper white crispy dairies. I have good fountain pen but next week I am going to buy a diary for talking to myself.Learning Tough loveThis is might be the most difficult thing to do. But I am going to learn tough love with my life. I am not allowing my laziness to fill my days with excuses and crying about things cant be change. I am going to stick with myself (Mind and Body). I remember that one of my European friends told me thatIndians are great people with lot’s of potential but they lack consistency and discipline.I agree with my European friend. Indians even after having so much energy, fail to channelize that power because we believe that breaking the rule is normal. We (as an Indian) don’t believe in the firm and steady lifestyle while we believe that things get settle down eventually. That’s where we are weak and we lack focus.I personally need to reinstate that focus in my life. It can be started with minor but permanent changes. Like I have started to wake up 6:00 AM anyhow. I vow to get into bed around 11:00PM. I have told myself that I will read minimum one hours daily. Eat almonds for my health.Having a book all the time with meThis is one of the ideas which I like most. I mean how many of us notice that we waste our time by sleeping, chatting and gossiping during the day. How many of us waste their hundred hours by standing at lines, watching TV’s shows rather than having a book which can give us million dollar ideas like this one did to me.I am not saying that everyone must have the book and read it unconsciously. But I am saying that use the time which is being wasted in your life.My Mantra is simple: Life is short, Read !!Original Blog
