Bhagavad Gita Verse 3.13
 19 September 2019

Samyak Is Samadhi - In Gita Verse 3.13 The devotees of the Lord are released from all kinds of sins because they eat food which is offered first for sacrifice. Others, who prepare food for personal sense enjoyment, verily eat only sin.Krishna in this verse says live balance life. Live for your needs. When you are hungry eat, when you are thirsty drink water. But we do exactly the opposite, because of the taste we eat even when we are not hungry.Buddha has used the word Right.Gautama the Buddha has no leaning toward abstraction, philosophy or metaphysics. He’s very practical, down-to-earth practical. He’s very scientific. His approach is not that of a thinker; his approach is existential. When he attained and became a buddha, it is said that the god of the gods, Brahma, came to him and asked, “Who is your witness? You declare that you have become a buddha, but who is your witness?” Buddha laughed, touched the earth with his hand, and said, “This earth, this solid earth is my witness.”He is very earthy; he made the earth his witness. He could have said so about the sky, but no; he could have said so about the sun or the moon or the stars, but no. He touched the earth and said, “This solid earth is my witness.” His whole approach is like that.Buddha’s way is called “the eightfold way.” He has divided it into eight parts. Those divisions are arbitrary, just utilitarian. The way is one, it is not really divided. It is divided so that you can understand it easily. This is very fundamental: if you can understand these eight steps or eight divisions of the way, the way will open just in front of you. You are already standing on it, but not aware; your mind is wandering somewhere. The way is in front of you. So try to understand these eight steps as deeply as possible. All these eight steps are concerned with rightness – right view, right intention, right speech, right morality, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and the eighth, the ultimate, right samadhi. The word right has to be understood first because the Sanskrit word samyak is so meaningful, is so pregnant with meaning that it cannot be translated. Right is a very poor translation for it for many reasons.First, the word right immediately gives the idea that it is against the wrong. Samyak never gives that idea; samyak is not against wrong. Buddha’s right is not against wrong because Buddha says wrongs are many, right is one – so how can right be against wrong? Health is one, diseases are many. There are not as many healths as there are diseases, so health cannot be against the diseases – otherwise there would be so many healths. Somebody is suffering from TB and then he becomes healthy, somebody is suffering from cancer and he becomes healthy, and somebody is suffering from flu and he becomes healthy. These three healths are not three healths. The diseases were different, but health is one, and one cannot be against the many.Exactly the same is true about right and wrong. Right is one. Wrongs are millions. You can go on inventing wrongs, but right cannot be invented; it does not depend on you. Right is a state of affairs where you are in tune with the whole. That is the meaning of health too: when you are in tune with the whole you are healthy. The music flows between you and the whole, there is no obstruction. You feel a well-being, there is no noise, everything is in harmony. When the individual is in tune with the universal, right exists, health exists. When you fall out of tune, then so many wrongs arise there is no limit to them, they are endless. And you can invent new wrongs.Buddha says right is that which is not your invention. It is already there. If you go away from it you are wrong, if you come close to it you are right. The closer you are, the more right you are. One day when you are exactly home, you are perfectly right. Samyak and samadhi both come from the same root sam. Samyak is the step toward samadhi. If you don’t understand samyak, you will not be able to understand samadhi. So seven steps ultimately lead to the final step. Samadhi means now everything has fallen in tune with existence; not a flaw exists, the music is utterly perfect. But there is no better word in English than right, so you have to understand it. Right in the Buddhist meaning of the term means balanced, centered, grounded, harmonious, tranquil – all these things. But the basic thing can be understood even if there is no synonymous term in English to translate it.Krishna simply says that if you live Samyak life you live in Samadhi, with your open eyes. Just try for few days don’t follow your schedule of any food time but just eat when you are hungry and see the difference. You will eat the food as per your body requirements. This is what Krishna says that if you live Samyak life you are released from all the sins.

Dear, I hate you!!!

District 92, Division D Toastmaster Humorous Speech Contest, Second Runner up: My Humorous speechTitle: Dear, I hate you!!!Opening:I’m lazy and I know itAt this rate I’ll never get fitPeople are afraid of heightsI am afraid of widthsOh my soul, be thou quietThis is not ‘another diet’Just a program of exchangeThough some things do seem strangeRaw vegetables and ‘brock-o-lee’Does not sound too good to meLots of tofu and bean sproutsWhile my empty stomach shoutsThe meaning here is quite plain; This program is designed for painMy hands are sweating, my soul is dreadingI must keep this thing from spreadingBody: Good Afternoon obese guests, overweight toastmasters and frustrated corpulent Judges…“Sorry, I am in relationship with food” this was my answer whenever any guy was approaching me till that fine one romantic rainy evening!!!I was waiting in front of the doctor’s room. As usual, the doctor approached with the report after a looooong hour wait.Giving a wicked look, he said “I have a bad news & a good news. What should come first?”I thought for a while & questioned him “Mr. Doctor. Is the bad news too bad? Or is the good news too good”.He answered, “Dear Suchi, the bad news is going to be tragic & the good news will bring a ray of hope in your life”. After gathering some courage, I told the doctor “Sir. Bad news first”.“This is not to dishearten you, but according to your reports your weight is going out of control now. Your body is blowing like a balloon. You are overweight by 25 kg!” Hearing this, first tear broke free from my eyes, the rest followed in an unbroken stream.Trying to console me, the doctor said “Darling. There is a good news too. This disease of obesity which is haunting you now is totally curable. You are very lucky to be diagnosed well on time. It would have been very difficult if you showed during the final stage”. I was amazed at the doctor’s wonderful statement about my life-threatening disease!!! I collected my reports & walked back home. What is the reason of getting more and more of those tiny creatures, who live in my closet and sew my clothes a liitle bit tighter every night…calories? Then the coolest place of my house having food carrying capacity of 10 peoples…my refrigerator gave a smile at me!!! whenever i lose some weight, i used to get it back in my refrigerator!!!I wish losing weight would be as easier for me as losing my keys, watch, hair rubber band, temper & even mind.” Instead of blaming myself my heart said “Dear, You are not overweight, you are just under tall!!!”.Then, I decided to have a fight between food & me. Everything is fair in love & war & this was a war. I had to win. “A healthy diet for a healthy body”, “You are what you eat”, “Whatever your problem is, your answer is not in fridge” I collected all motivational quotes for dieting & started placing them on my cupboard, my room walls, even on my refrigerator door. Then I started googling “How to lose weight”. There were unbelievable suggestions. A kind lady in one of her articles claimed that she lost 20 pounds in a month by writing 3 pages daily. So, my dear dispirited plumpy audience, you can imagine who is the inspiring hero behind my becoming a blogger!!!I try to remove all things those make me fat…like scales, mirrors and photographs!!! Conclusion: Dear mirthless TMs, rejected Guests and long faced Judges!!!After a passionate, enthusiastic follow up of my diet plan, the day of test match came, when I had to attend a big fat wedding party. Sweets were looking mesmerized in many colorful, fancy dresses. A dark red cherry was smiling at me sitting on the top of triple story frosted cake.“New body is under construction. Please let me go.” I turned backwards only to see hot, delicious, mouthwatering chocolate sizzler on the table. The enemy was very strong & well equipped, while I was handling an unequipped one-woman army. I fall prey to my food desire. “Dear my favorite foods. Things are not going to work between us. It’s not me. It’s you. You are detrimental, disastrous and deleterious!!!” I lie on the floor completely dead for few minutes. I stood up & I rushed to the front table, where a range of fruits and vegetables, whole grains and unsalted seeds, nuts were kept!!! The toughest part of DIET is not watching what you eat. Its watching what other people eat!!! But! I had conquered all the toughest parts related to DIET. So dear friends, how many of you is having courage to hate all the enemies related to DIET and to say  ”Good Bye Dear, I don’t want you in my life anymore!!!”

My solo trip to one of last village in Kasol Himachal.
 12 May 2019
Art

In the middle of the day, I was standing puzzled in the place known as Kasol. I had no idea how this place would be and what I would do alone there. The foreigners definitely were visible in the majority. Hebrew (Israel official language) was used in many restaurants along with English and Hindi.I usually don't eat before the bus travel, so I was hungry and decided to Visit holy Manikaran first (3 km uphill from Kasol). Manikaran has mesmerizing beauty. A grand Gurudwara besides the God Shiva temple on the bank of violent Parvati river. This place is also blessed with a hot spring. In this hot spring, delicious food of the Gurudwara is cooked. The gateway to Gurudwara led to a bridge to cross Parvati River and the hot spot for profile pictures.Right inside the Gurudwara, there is a pond of hot water from spring in which freezing water of Parvati is brought through a pipe and mixed. It is believed that if you take a bath in this pond all your skin disease will vanish. In the vicinity where water is mixed, the water temperature varies from hot to cold. So you can enjoy lukewarm water. I took the bathe and then I headed up to Langar food. This has been my first ever Gurudwara visit. I would skip the traditional beauty of Gurudwara. I had delicious food there. Most people miss they also serve sweet (Halwa) in form of Prasad upstairs. Never miss that. You can book your room in Gurudwara if you want to stay there. It's free. Free food and free stay make many foreigners crazy. Next, I visited the temple. Clicked some pictures. Here was a thing that no-one told me before. Manikaran is beautiful, but you can hardly spend 3-4 hours only not the entire stay. So I chose to go Kasol again. There are buses every 10 minutes, but I chose to hitchhike. Those two guys were high on weed like most people there. They asked me to take a puff.I said I don't drink and smoke. They said that there is nothing here for you then. They told me from here on, every place is Kasol, where you want to go?I was confused, this situation was never written on any blog. They dropped me at the market.I walked through the market, there was nothing new in that place. There were just ordinary hill station shops and few hotels. I felt cheated by the place and decided to go back.At the bus station while I was waiting for the bus. Some locals suggested me to go to Tosh or to Kheerganga trek. Since I had a healing leg and a luggage, so I was avoiding the difficult long trek. Then this guy appeared, he told me that he has a cafe on the top of Sheela village. It's an easy trek, and he showed me some pictures too.It was a risky choice this guy could be anything. But going back was not the best option either, so I said yes.The bus stopped near a small shop named Naina cafe. It was 4 pm already. As long as the Sun is visible mountains are mesmerizing, beautiful but once it sets they become scary. I wanted to make sure before it happened, I should be in a room. Just beside this cafe, the trek started it lasted around 1 hour going through some easy and rough terrain. Entire time the sound of Parvati River was just adding magic to the journey.I don't even remember when it was the last time when I witnessed the pattern of leaves.Or I danced to the music of water or screamed my heart out, or I wasonly physically exhausted. Facing the fear of death every moment, I only felt what it meant to be alive. It was the first time when I saw something beautiful and did not capture it because I knew no camera can capture what I was feeling while trekking. That's how beautiful little Sheela village trek was.It would be unfair to travellers if I try explain what I felt in words. It was in the true sense, the first night I ever spent in nature. Itwas magical from the Sunrise to the Sunset. It turned out that I was the first customer for that new homestay and their place was in construction. I chipped in my bit. There were a few guys who have left their jobs from metro cities and intended to live forever in this place. Obviously, they all were shouting 'Bum Bhole'. Later that turned out to be a problem that they all were so high when they slept, it was hard to wake them up. I and one more guy had to check out, but there was no one to receive payment. We called on their phone too. Even we left a message that we would pay online in whatever means they would say when they will wake up. Later, around after an hour when we were walking through the long route just to spend more time on this, they came to us and misbehaved. That 5 km walk from that place to last bus stop point, is the best part of my entire journey. Most people who go even further up during camping generally take a taxi to come back. That walk around the Sheela Village is beyond words, I came across places where adventure was the only mean to go ahead. It was scary in between when we realized we two guys were all alone walking through that place and it started to rain too but luckily it stopped.Walking through that unusual route I realized how beautiful life could be, how much we can do in a day. In our usual life we don’t even realize its value. Every day, every place is beautiful as long as you are not stuck there.

Bhagavad Gita Verse 1.41
 22 June 2019

Objective World - In Gita Verse 1.41 An increase of unwanted population certainly causes hellish life both for the family and for those who destroy the family tradition. The ancestors of such corrupt families fall down, because the performances for offering them food and water are entirely stopped. This words of Arjuna are coming from his unconsciousness. When we are conscious towards ourselves we look and observe the circumstances differently than when we are unconscious. Objective world is just mirroring our consciousness and unconsciousness. We all have experienced that whenever we have vested interest we don’t get angry. Keeping alertness of our vested interest we don’t get angry and focus on what we need to do at that moment.Because of our lack of self-consciousness we are not able to see what that person or circumstances has given us and we create guilt for it.In the background our mind is always saying that we are doing something wrong we are selfish etc. These thoughts will drive us in some other direction, it becomes negative. Because I cannot show my anger to someone I will be looking for the person who is weak then me and I will throw the anger on them. This is how our vicious circle of incompletion goes on which we title as negativity. Here we miss out one important thing which actually happen is because of our selfishness are focus was on what is available with the other person and because of this we instead of getting angry, focus on our work. If we realize this then we will look into everyone what is available with the other person. In that process two things happen simultaneously one we on our own drop guilt and we look for the possibility in the life. We become calm. This is not selfishness but self-alertness.With our own experience of small actions of awareness what it has given us in this moment it liberates us from anger and guilt. If we read this verse from that experience then immediately you will find that how much our unconsciousness towards the self is damaging us. The importance of self-awareness is realized. There is no other hell then our unconsciousness towards the self and there is no other heaven then our self-consciousness.From your own experience you will be able to see that when we are conscious towards ourselves there is feeling of completion and when we are unconscious towards ourselves we feel incomplete, irritation, etc.As right now Arjuna was unconscious towards the self he feels that not only I but right now whoever is present over here they will be “The ancestors of such corrupt families fall down, because the performances for offering them food and water are entirely stopped.”He want to become saviour. He forgets that Universe has different plan for this war. Krishna himself tried to avoid the war, he failed. He is just executing the plan of Universe. When our action is from self-alertness, we will be delivering the Universe assignment then our family members will be blessed by Universe and not called as corrupt families. On the contrary when we will be unconscious towards ourselves then our family will be called as corrupt families.Living in this objective world only we can turn ourselves towards self-consciousness. People who has left this objective world for their subjective world are more egoistic then people who live in this objective world and face each moments challenge and reality. Running away is not a solution. Living in this objective world is only solution for self-alertness, self-consciousness. Taking the responsibility to live self-consciously is big challenge. Accept this challenge, live with it consciously, see how playfully you can transcend the objective world into subjective world. If Arjuna will see that same circumstances with self-consciousness it will be assignment of the universe to fight without enmity then he will see that his family members will be blessed and if he will see from unconsciousness of self he will see that his family will be “because the performances for offering them food and water are entirely stopped”. How we look that changes our contest of act. From the verse it clearly says that Arjuna become unconscious towards himself.

Bhagavad Gita Verse 3.34
 12 October 2019

Beyond The Senses - In Gita Verse 3.34 There are principles to regulate attachment and aversion pertaining to the senses and their objects. One should not come under the control of such attachment and aversion, because they are stumbling blocks on the path of self-realization.Krishna warned Arjuna: If not conscious, Arjuna, these senses are so turbulent that they can lead astray the mind of even a vigilant human being. From the senses either you become attach or aversion. Self-realized person don’t get controlled by senses. They definitely uses all the five senses. But they don’t create any attachments or aversion by it.If you will use your senses in totality you will become self-realized. Say you are listening to musics, to total in listening it, allow the whole body to move with the music, feel the sensation happening throughout the body. After the music you will feel certain silence in you. Certain awareness in you. This awareness is not because of the objective world. There will be some kind of difference you will find in it. It calm downs you, till the time you are connected with that awareness you will feel that emotions like anger, hatrate, anxiety are not there in your action but fragrance of love, prayerful heart is there. This silence also can be heard in the form of Aum, the sound of the soundless.I only gave you the example of one senses but you can try with all your senses. Be total when you are eating and fully enjoy the taste of food without any judgement, feel the sensations in the body, allow the body to move when you are totally enjoying the taste, then watch yourself suddenly you will find all the thoughts disappeared, after having food there was with satisfaction of food calmness was also there.Try with all your senses be total in your touch, smell, and sight. Be total you will become silent. This moment of serenity is the fragrance of meditation. It is born out of absolute emptiness with no desire for anything. Serenity has to grow in meditation as Zen Master Hung Chin says, “Silently and serenely one forgets all words, clearly and vividly that appear before him. When one realises it, it is vast and without edges, in its essence, one is clearly aware.”Shiva says, “Listen to the primal soundless music of Aum that is vibrating within the body.” This has a deep meaning. The serenity arises, the soundless music plays only when you are empty, thoughtless and totally devoid of desires. The serenity is the Buddha and the Buddha is the serenity. In the vast emptiness of the Buddha, God appears, flows through your being, playing the sound of silence.Being totally thoughtless may be the toughest thing to do but it is the only state in which you can listen to the sound of silence — Aum. This is the only sound which appears when all your thoughts are gone and your innermost core is drenched in serenity, calmness. Aum is a symbol of silent music in the inner being full of bliss. If one reaches that state, transcending the mind, dropping all thoughts and instead becoming a watcher of the mind, the silent music will surface within.Osho says the delightful sound of Aum vibrating within you is the ultimate truth and it plays only when everything else disappears from your being and you have become calm. But you cannot reach that state by simply chanting Aum as a mantra, because the mind is still functioning when you are repeating it.Different self-realized masters with Shiva tell how the same senses are experiences from within when we are total in it. In the process we become empty means empty of judgements, ideology, identifications etc, there is no attachment or aversion.Krishna says to Arjuna self-realized person don’t become attached by their senses but they grow in consciousness and become self-realized through their senses.

IN$iDe the He@d of a girl
 11 March 2018

A girl/women is the most complicated species on the planet earth. Well we all can agree to that..!! Have you ever seen a jumbled rubix cube? Yes exactly.. that is how a women's brain should look like. The are zillion self contradicting thoughts going on all the time. There is family, work, food, sex(yes we do think about sex..less then food though).Let me start with the most complicated one's first: LOVE ♥Our love for family is surreal, its like you touch my family and i will kill you. When it comes to the love of other gender, its very easy for us to get attracted to someone, but really difficult to keep holding the attraction and we always make the first move. Guys may think that they have initiated it but actually it just our dirty little mind games we like to play in the starting of a relationship. A girl always knows the next move of a guy & decides weather to encourage it or diminish it. A yes is always a yes for us but you need to concentrate on the NO. It may be a firm no, or a no which means maybe yes, or a no where you need to persuade a little to make it yes.Anger/Depression/Crying all of these go hand in hand. It starts with anger, changes to depression with time and the final result is crying to take it all off your chest. Though alcohol plays a part too in making things more miserable or may be lighter(depends on the amount of consumption).Well the last but not the least most prominent thing on a girl's head : Jealousy why god why? why didn't you made me thinner like my sister. You do tina has bigger boobs not me? why am i not as fair as kareena? why are hairs not as straight as neha? Well it never ends. This list goes on and on and on. Nonetheless we can never sustain in a world without girls and neither do we want so. #werock#dontmindme#loveall#smblogcontest

Stepping out of my cocoon
 2 March 2018

“Hello dad, my internship location is a different city, 2000 kilometres away! My friends are planning to book train tickets and it will take nearly 36 hours to reach.” I was blabbering on the phone standing in the corridor outside my classroom. I was expecting my dad to say, “Never mind. Both of us will book our flight tickets, I will take you there, meet your office people, book you a hostel for two months, talk to the hostel warden, check food facilities and everything else and ensure that you are in the best of your comfort zone.” Instead, he said, “Yes, go ahead. You also book your ticket along with your friends.” I was frozen for a minute. “But dad, it is a 36 hour long journey!” I said. “Yes, that’s okay. If your friends don’t want to go by air, you go with them by train. It will be fun.” He tried to comfort me. I stood there for another few minutes wondering how I would manage all of it on my own. I had never stepped out of home without my parents’ guidance and that was my cocoon I refused to step out of.Now, I was being given only 18 days to prepare myself for this 2 month long journey far away from home. My batch mate booked train tickets for 5 of us who were going and I was glad that at least I escaped one task. I was extremely nervous. 18 days passed with the blink of an eye. The away-from-home mission started with the train journey, the second of my life so far. But like my friends and my parents had said, the journey was fun. 5 of us immediately bonded and endured our 36 hours playing dumb charades and other games. We reached early morning and stepping foot on a different land comprising of different people, speaking a different language and most importantly, me being away from my parents was like being on an expedition for me.But now, when I recollect those days, I feel those were among the best days of my life and I cherish each memory I have of that place. Roaming on the streets with luggage and hunting for a hostel, negotiating with the hostel warden for the fee and settling my things in the wardrobe were the first few things I did on my own. At home, I was a spoilt child and had never entered the kitchen except for taking food or keeping my utensils in the sink. In the hostel, besides taking food from the kitchen, I washed my utensils, packed mine and my friend’s lunch and even warmed milk on the stove in the middle of a night for a friend who had hurt her foot and couldn’t walk. I even learnt to wash clothes, iron them, withdraw money from a bank, go grocery shopping, interact with people not knowing my language and so many other things I couldn’t have done staying in my own city at my own home.At the internship, my boss assured me that it was a safe city and I could travel around for events and work. I managed to do 18 events in the two months, a number the company was yearning to reach in the two years they had been operating for. Everybody appreciated my work at office.I learnt to not only take care of my own self but of my friends too. They had started teasing me by calling me mommy, the one who was always worried if everybody was eating well, was in their respective rooms before the deadline at night, was reaching office on time, etc. I also became the accounts in charge for the 5 of us, who owed whom how much and why, I kept a record of all of it.Being a strong and chirpy girl most of the time, at some other times I broke down too, on the day of my childhood friend’s wedding when I could not be her bridesmaid, when my grandmother suffered a minor heart attack and I couldn’t be there beside her bed and sometimes, just like that, not knowing why.But overall, I am glad that I went there stepping out of my cocoon. I learnt a lot of household chores, a lot from my internship, made a lot of new friends and most importantly, learnt a lot about my own self!

Bhagavad Gita Verse 1.2
 21 May 2019

Focus On What You Want - In Gita Verse 1.2 Sañjaya said: O King, after looking over the army arranged in military formation by the sons of Pāṇḍu, King Duryodhana walked up to his teacher and his commander of army Dronacharya.Actions Speak Louder Than Words: before Duryodhana spoke he revealed his focus through his action. He walked to his teacher and his commander of army Dronacharya without his team. It clearly shows from his action that he did not wanted to restructure his strategy after looking over the army arranged in military formation by the sons of Pāṇḍu, to win the war. He just wanted to defeat them. Lot of difference is there when we want to win the war and defeat someone.Universe doesn’t understand the language of others or mine. It only understands where your focus is. As Duryodhana’s focus was on defeating the Pandavas his strategy and action was how to defeat and in that process he lost the war. From our childhood we have always been told by our parents, elders and teachers “Always wish good for others.” Why? One of the reason is when we wish good for others good comes to us. They also told us whenever we want to give something to others give them the best. At that time due to our immaturity we couldn’t understand this. This is the reason whenever something goes wrong we need to check what was our thinking when we are giving to someone.Let me share with you one incidence of Manohar Parrikar’s life - Watermelon Festival:In September 2016, the humble resident of Parra, Goa, addressed an audience at the 14th FGI Awards for Excellence held at Vadodara. It was there that he gave one of his most memorable speeches. It was a speech where he recounts his childhood, growing up in the village of Parra and taking part in the famous ‘Watermelon Festival’. It seemed like a trivial story, one that was meant to evoke a sense of humanity – but it was so much more. Here’s what he said:“I am from the village of Parra in Goa, hence we are called Parrikars. My village is famous for its watermelons. When I was a child, the farmers would organize a watermelon-eating contest at the end of the harvest season in the month of May. All the kids would be invited to eat as many watermelons as they wanted. Years later, I went to IIT Mumbai to study engineering. I went back to my village after six and a half years. I went to the market looking for watermelons. They were all gone. The ones that were there were so small.  I went to see the farmer who hosted the watermelon-eating contest. His son had taken over. He would host the contest but there was a difference. When the older farmer gave us watermelons to eat he would ask us to spit out the seeds into a bowl. We were told not to bite into the seeds. He was collecting the seeds for his next crop. We were unpaid child laborers, actually. He kept his best watermelons for the contest and he got the best seeds which would yield even bigger watermelons the next year. He would also distribute the seeds to the farmers in his neighbourhood. The farmers sowed these seeds to grow watermelons. When the wind blew it carried the pollen from the flowers to his watermelon crop which received better pollen for fertilisation and produced desired watermelons. His son, when he took over, realized that the larger watermelons would fetch more money in the market so he sold the larger ones and kept the smaller ones for the contest. The next year, the watermelons were smaller, the year later even smaller. In watermelons, the generation is one year. In seven years, Parra’s best watermelons were finished. In humans, generations change after 25 years. It will take us 200 years to figure out where we had gone wrong while raising and educating our children. Unless we employ our best to train the next generation, this is what can happen to us.”Unless we become aware of where is our focus and correcting ourselves to shift our focus from receiving to giving, we cannot get best from our act - shifting from Duty To Responsibility. We always act out of our duty and not from responsibility. This is the reason we are not able to create environment of love or godliness which is residing in us. For example all over the world the main duty of the woman is to take care of food for every family member. When we sit at the dining table we expect the woman to serve the food. This same act can be viewed from a different perspective, it’s her duty but can I participate in her duty. With this thought you may help her to arrange the dining table to serve the food. The whole environment changes, from duty to participation. This is everyone’s responsibility to create loving environment. No one can stop you except yourself. Through this small shift in our thinking the universe will create miracles for you.

5 Things to Avoid in Food During Trekking
 30 May 2019

Trekking is a holistic activity that takes you to places that are unbelievably picturesque. Places that you may have seen in photographs and postcards. The glistening mountain tops and pristine lakes are not the only things that are tempting to the soul. The foods in these areas of the world are so different to the taste buds and very new to enthusiastic souls who like to discover these new things while travelling. The fun in travelling lies in these small discoveries that one makes. While trekking, one comes across so many kinds of mesmerising terrains and landscapes, the soul and the body is ready to accept all the good that the foods of the local area brings along in the course of the journey. Not just the food but the native cultures and traditions are rich, diverse and a segment of traditional beliefs that have passed down the ages. Nepal is a place that is known for the diverse amount of trekking trails and terrains, for trek enthusiasts to dwell in. The best part is that trekking in Nepal does not burn a huge hole in your pocket, that’s why Nepal is a favourite amongst enthusiasts. One of the most famous tracks for trekking is the Everest base camp trekking in Nepal. People, who want to get close to the highest mountain in the world, opt for this trekking trail once in Nepal. There is a long list of foods that you should eat while on a trekking trip, but there are 5 important foods and beverages that you must absolutely avoid while starting on a trekking journey. 1. Alcoholic beveragesConsumption of alcohol lowers your energy outlet and drags down your focus while trekking. More than anything, alcohol is a beverage that stirs your emotional levels and hampers the progress on your mental capacity on a trek. Trekking is an activity that requires your mind to be aware and alert at all times; a loss of one second of your attention span can lead to fatal accidents. It is worse if you go through a hangover before starting a lengthy trek.  It is true that people consume alcohol to ward off the chilling winds in a trek, but that is only really small quantities of alcohol. It is always better to celebrate with alcohol after the trek is over. 2. Cold meatsYou may have heard that meat is a very strong source of proteins and energy, but you may not know that you can obtain the same quantity of proteins and vitamins from so many kinds of vegetables. More than anything, why the consumption of meat is so bothersome is that, meat can be preserved and kept for inculcating flavour, and the proteins in the meat don’t survive for long. So, what you consume in the end is a dead flesh that has been cured for flavour. While trekking you need proteins and vitamins to keep you trekking in a consistent manner, it is not advisable to consume dead flesh while on a trek that needs you to produce the energy from within. Especially while on a trek to Nepal do not expect a lot of variety in meat. If you are used to eating beef forget that you will find beef anywhere, cow is the national animal of Nepal and it is highly offensive to consume beef or steak. 3. Carbonated drinksWhen on a trek you must take care of your abdomen and stomach. Try to eat foods that do not upset the stomach a lot. Especially consuming all natural based items is advisable. Carbonated drinks only serve for flavour and the taste buds while not being a very healthy option while on a trek. For energy boost and refreshment, try drinking natural vegan milks and fruit juices instead. 4. RiceEating rice in large amounts causes your stomach to swell and this makes it hard for you to carry your own weight on a trek. Rice is necessary for the carbohydrates that is provides but consuming too much out of hunger is not advised. This is because rice does not provide lot of roughage for exercising the abdomen. Rather breads like the traditional Nepali roti are full of proteins and roughage. 5. Processed foodsAny form of processed foods is likely to contain very less amounts of the vitamins of that particular food. Processed foods also contain traces of preservatives that are not beneficial for your energy flow. Avoid processed foods and try to consume more foods that can be naturally sourced, even if it lacks in flavour which is very unlikely, opt for natural foods, fruits and vegetables.  While on an important trek, or any trekking expedition for that matter, try to go as vegan or vegetarian as possible. The greens that you consume hold a lot more energy than meat and other alternatives you consume for proteins. There are a lot of foods that are essential for treks, and believe it or not, while on a trek, the simplest foods like rice, wheat and lentils are the best source of energy. The locals thrive on this kind of food and it is what keeps them surviving and it the best shape to be alive on these terrains. We may be tourists but the natives are locals they are one with the mountains and the natural surroundings. So follow their lead and do in Rome as the Romans do.

Bhagavad Gita Verse 2.61
 26 August 2019

Austerity - In Gita Verse 2.61 One who restrains his senses, keeping them under full control, and fixes his consciousness upon Me, is known as a man of steady intelligence. When Krishna says restrains senses, he means, austerity, “Be simple, don’t cultivate it”...because cultivated simplicity is not simplicity. How can a cultivated simplicity be simple? It is very complex; you have been trying, calculating, cultivating. But Masochists have converted austerity into self-torture. They think that the more you torture the body, the more spiritual you become. Torturing the body is the way to become spiritual: this is the understanding of the masochist.Torturing the body is not a way; torturing is violent. Whether you torture others or yourself, it is violent; and violence can never be religious. What is the difference between torturing someone else’s body and torturing your own body? What is the difference? The body is “the other.” Even your own body is the other. Your body is a little closer and the other’s body is a little farther away, that’s all. Because yours is closer it is more likely to become a victim of your violence; you can torture it. And for thousands of years people have been torturing their bodies with the false notion that it is the way towards the divine. Austerity cannot be practiced. You simply have to look at life and see that the more complicated you become, the less sensitive you become. And the less sensitive you are, the farther away from existence you are. The more sensitive you become, then closer and closer and closer you come. A day comes when you are sensitive to the very roots of your being; suddenly you are no longer there, you are just a sensibility, a sensitivity. You are no longer there, you are just an awareness. Everything is beautiful then, everything is alive; nothing is dead. Everything is conscious; nothing is alive, nothing is dead. Everything is conscious, nothing is unconscious. With your sensitivity, the world changes. At the last moment, when the sensitivity reaches to its total, its ultimate climax, the world disappears; there is the divine. The divine is not to be found, really; sensitivity has to be found. Be sensitive totally that nothing is left behind, no holding back; and suddenly, the divine is there. It has always been there; it is just that you were not sensitive. For Krishna austerity is a simple life, a life of understanding. You need not move into a hut, you need not go naked. You can live simply in life, with understanding. Poverty will not help but understanding will. You can force poverty on yourself, you can become dirty, but that won’t help. Become more sensitive, become more austere. And when Krishna says become, Krishna doesn’t mean practice, Krishna means understand. Try to see that whenever you are simple, things go beautifully. Whenever you are complex, things become problematic; you create more puzzles to be solved and everything becomes entwined, a mess.Live a simple life of needs being fulfilled, with no mad desires. You need food, you need clothing, you need a shelter – finish. You need somebody to love; you need somebody to be loved by. Love, food, shelter – simple. What is the trouble with man? The trouble is that he thinks that for enjoyment certain conditions have to be fulfilled first; this is the trouble. To enjoy life in fact no conditions are to be fulfilled; it is an unconditional invitation. But man thinks that certain conditions have to be fulfilled first; only then can he enjoy life. This is the complex mind. The simple mind feels that one has to enjoy whatsoever is available. Enjoy it! No conditions are to be fulfilled. And the more you enjoy this moment, the more capable you become of enjoying the next. The capacity grows; the greater and greater it becomes, the higher and higher it goes – it is infinite. And when you come to the infinity of enjoyment, that is what God is. God is not a person sitting somewhere and waiting for you. By this time He will have got bored, waiting and waiting for you. He will have committed suicide if He had any sense...waiting for you. God is not a person. He is not a goal, He is a way of enjoying life right here and now. God is the attitude of being blissful for no reason at all. You are miserable for no reason at all; that is the complex mind. An austere man comes to know that happiness is the nature of life. You need not have any causes to be happy. You can simply be happy just because you are alive! Life is happiness, life is bliss; but this is possible only for an austere man. A man who accumulates things always thinks that because of these things he is going to be happy. Palaces, money, gadgets – he thinks that because of these things he is going to be happy. Riches are not the problem; the attitude of the man who tries to find riches is the problem. The attitude is: unless I have all these things, I cannot be happy. This man will always remain unhappy. An austere man comes to know that life is so simple that whatsoever he has, he can be happy. He need not postpone it for anything else. Austerity will mean then: come down to your needs. Desires are mad, needs are natural. Food, shelter, love; bring your whole life energy down just to the level of needs, and you will be happy. And a happy man cannot be other than religious; and an unhappy man cannot be other than irreligious. He may pray, he may go to the temple and the mosque; that doesn’t matter. How can an unhappy man pray? His prayer will have a deep complaint in it, a grudge. It will be a deep grump. Prayer is gratitude, not complaint. Be austere. Live with the necessary and forget about desires. They are fantasies in the mind, ripples in the lake. They only disturb you, they can never lead you to any contentment. Krishna is saying that act for your need with all your sensitivity, don’t restrain your sensitivity, become more sensitive and then act. Even if it is war be sensitive and fight the war. Then even the war will be Divine. If you can do that you become whole, united with God.

Bhagavad Gita Verse 2.2
 29 June 2019

Wake Up - In Gita Verse 2.2 The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: My dear Arjuna, how have these impurities come upon you? They are not at all befitting a man who knows the value of life. They lead not to higher planets but to infamy.Krishna starts from where Arjuna is. How come these impurities come upon you - by saying impurities he mentions regarding his unconsciousness. As because of his unconsciousness there is thin layer, smoke screen, has created between your objectivity and subjectivity. With this smoke screen from your objective world you are not able to find your subjectivity.Remember one thing when we want to speak or convey a message through any communication route, start from where others are. Never start from where you are. We need to create a bridge between us and others to convey our message. For that one of the important thing is start from where others are. This is called Compassionate Communication. It’s a big challenge for Krishna, first he has to open Arjuna and awaken him from his unconsciousness and Arjuna right now could only hear. He will not be able to listen. He is deep in his unconsciousness. Where only voice of compassion can be heard.Only compassion is therapeutic, because all that is ill in man is because of lack of love. All that is wrong with man is somewhere associated with love. He has not been able to love, or he has not been able to receive love. He has not been able to share his being. That’s the misery. That creates all sorts of complexes inside. When you are unconscious towards yourself and your subjectivity, at that time you are disconnected with your own love. Those wounds inside can surface in many ways: they can become physical illness, they can become mental illness – but deep down man suffers from lack of love. Just as food is needed for the body, love is needed for the soul. The body cannot survive without food, and the soul cannot survive without love. In fact, without love the soul is never born – there is no question of its survival.Recollect the moment of Aguliman he was totally unconscious, suffering from mental illness, compassionate communication by Buddha brought him to his consciousness. That’s why compassion is therapeutic. What is compassion? Compassion is the purest form of love. Sex is the lowest form of love, compassion the highest form of love. In sex the contact is basically physical; in compassion the contact is basically spiritual. In love, compassion and sex are both mixed, the physical and the spiritual are both mixed. Love is midway between sex and compassion. You can also call compassion prayerfulness. You can also call compassion meditation. The highest form of energy is compassion. The word compassion is beautiful: half of it is passion – somehow passion has become so refined that it is no more like passion. It has become compassion. In compassion, you simply give. In love, you are thankful because the other has given something to you. In compassion, you are thankful because the other has taken something from you; you are thankful because the other has not rejected you. You had come with energy to give, you had come with many flowers to share, and the other allowed you, the other was receptive. You are thankful because the other was receptive.Another way to understand compassion is giving. In my Bhagavad Gita Verse 2.1, I wrote that in all the conditions universe only gives. He doesn’t judge us, he just gives.Krishna with all the compassion started communication with Arjuna from where he is. He is not pointing his finger towards Arjuna and saying you are unconscious, what he says is an indication to wake him up from his unconsciousness. Just a wake up call. He reminds him who he is and this unconsciousness doesn’t fit you and it will not connect you with your subjectivity.
