GST Initial Turmoil
 26 May 2019

Goods and Services Tax (GST) is an indirect tax that has been levied on goods as well as services from July 1, 2017. It is the biggest tax reform since independence and one of the key aspects which have caught the eye of the Indian economy. The government has categorized 1211 items under various tax slabs. According to some prior estimates, GST is supposed to boost the GDP (Gross Domestic Product).       The items needed on a day to day basis like fruits and vegetables, printed books, newspapers, eggs, milk, fish, chicken, curd etc have been imposed 0% tax and services such as transportation, small restaurants, packaged food items, tea, coffee, apparel below Rs. 1000, footwear below Rs.500, kerosene etc have been charged 5% tax.        12% tax is charged on goods like butter, ghee, cheese, agarbatti, cell phones etc and services such as non AC hotels, state-run lotteries etc. Most of the items come under the fourth tax slab of 18% tax, such as refined sugar, biscuits, jams, sauces, mineral water, ice cream etc. and services like AC hotels, room tariffs between Rs. 2500 and Rs.7500, IT services etc. 28% tax is imposed on most of the cosmetics, aerated water, paint, ATM, washing machines, automobiles, aircraft, cinemas and room tariffs above Rs. 7500.Mixed Reactions to the new tax regime:         Celebrations and protests emerged across India. BJP members burnt firecrackers in Jaipur to welcome GST. At the same time, people burn an effigy during a protest in Birbhum district in West Bengal.        Reacting harshly to the GST launch, former Minister P Chidambaran said that micro; small and medium scale traders will suffer huge losses due to GST. On the other hand, the rollout of GST gathered huge and interest and response from Indian Inc.      Top industry and business leaders see it as a positive move in terms of infrastructure, trained manpower and short term inflationary pressures. In an interview with Business Standard, Mr Narayana Murthy hoped that GST would simplify trade, boost the economy and generate jobs.       Indian textile traders hold placards as they walked past closed shops during a protest against GST on textiles. Most of the shops were shut across Kashmir on 1st July to protest against GST in the state, prompting authorities to impose restrictions on the assembly of people in parts of Srinagar as a precautionary measure.      However, every change in society has good and bad effects on its people. Let’s see what GST has kept in store for us!

Book Review: Seductive Affair by Rishabh Puri
 1 September 2018

Book Title: Seductive AffairAuthor:Rishabh PuriFormat: Paper BackTotal Number of Pages: 184Language: EnglishPublisher: Srishti Publishers & Distributors;Publishing Date: 10 July 2018ISBN-10: 9387022277ISBN-13: 978-9387022270Prisha Khatri is a regular college graduate, focused on her career, desperate to finally move out of her parents’ house and freshly dumped by her successful fiancé. When she lands a job at a prestigious media house, she’s glad to have something to take her mind off her heartbreak. What she doesn’t expect is to be landed on a business trip with a famously fiery reporter Rajesh Lagheri. He’s travelling to a business conference for a story and doesn’t seem impressed by her involvement. But as soon as they’re out of the office, things change and it becomes clear that there is more to Rajesh’s trip than meets the eye. As Prisha is drawn into the story he’s trying to hide from their editor, their hunt for the story grows more intense and she finds herself growing closer to Rajesh. As their chemistry threatens to overwhelm them and Prisha is pulled deeper into the Seductive Affair, she must decide what matters most to her matters of the head or of the heart. My TakeStarting from the cover and title is enchanting. I expected it to be a dark romance thriller but it's a simple love story based on career and love. The title is misleading there is no seduction in the plot. The book is a bag of emotions, love, hate, relationship, passion, separation, trust, bond, joy, happiness, family, relationships, life, sadness, betrayal and many more. This is the story about main protagonist Prisha Khatri. Prisha getting ready for the first day of her dream job and remembering her past where her ex-fiance Aditya ditched her because she wanted to work and he wanted a wife who will sit at home, cook, raise children and take care of them. Breakup with her ex-fiance due to his insecurity, she is all set to enter corporate world, her dream job. She joins The Chronicles as in one of the leading newspapers of the country. She is attracted to Rajesh a senior reporter. Rajesh and Prisha travels for a businesses  conference in Mumbai where they find themselves getting close to each other while covering a story for their article. To find out more read the book.Language of the book is lucid and written in a simple way to comprehend for any kind of reader. I have read the author's previous work i have much expectation from this book too but i'm disappointed this time. Plot becomes predictable sometimes. The story is faced. Narration was simple and okey. The characters are good but could not able to connect with them. A few typographical errors here and there need to be rectified. If the edit was done properly, the story would have sounded much much better.I'll recommend this book to beginners for a light read.  Overall Ratings 2/5 StarsGrab the book here- Amazon.in Amazon.com Amazon.co.ukAbout the AuthorRishabh Puri is a highly accomplished entrepreneur with a flair for writing. Terror and Again

1.2003 - J.W.Marriott - Jakarta,Vietnam2-2008 - The Taj Mahal Palace - Mumbai,India3.2008 (September) - Marriott Hotel - Islamabad,Pakistan4.2008 & 2010 - Serena Hotel - Kabul,Pakistan5.2009 (June) - Pearl Continental Hotel - Peshawar,Pakistan6.2009 (July) - J.W.Marriott & Ritz Carlton - South Jakarta,Vietnam7.2011 & 2018 - Inter Continental - Kabul,Afghanistan8.2015 - Park Palace - Kabul,Afghanistan9.2019 - Shangri-La,Kingsbury,Cinnamon Grand - Sri LankaThe above list is a mere collection of various attacks at several places in different countries by terrorist groups on big five star hotels, but the amount of destruction each has caused to every sphere of life is something we need to worry about. Apart from these, there have been many other devastating attacks carried on by these terrorists, since over a decade at various epicenters in South Asia, or rather specifically in the Indian Sub-Continent along with French Indo-China.     Eg: The Pulwama attack (2019) - IndiaIt seems like neither do these terrorist groups understand the importance of 'international peace' nor are the governments of different countries or international institutions able to completely resist and maintain international order. These groups have their own grievances, grudges and bases upon which they get so combative. But the matter of fact is that they still draw support, and from whom?People of my age group (15-20) and young adults (21-26). Getting hypnotized by them, these youths don't just go against their motherland but also end up in black holes of life as there just pulled in and completely lost; they lose their senses and work only for the terrorists. Moreover how many of us have actually bothered to go check the news reports regarding anything on the pernicious attack our neighbour faced or checked the death tolls (its 359).The only way to describe it would be 'deadly' and truly it was.But why such big hotels?(they were common through the list also) Aren't you thinking that? Rather shouldn't you be thinking about that in the first place?Anyway, the answer is that an attack on commercial sites creates more havoc than an attack at the borders or protected and forested areas. The amount of damage such attacks have, especially on infrastructure is more wide spread.Another idea behind such attacks is to draw international attention by killing foreigners who check in and out of hotels daily and simultaneously create a deep tension and situation of panic among residents. Killing the outsiders and horrifying the locals is what they wish to do.All in all, they want to hit the sentiments of each and everyone, governments or citizens, young or old, visitors or residents, infants, mothers or grandmothers, they spare none.Honestly as a writer i don't see any purpose in writing this article until every single person reads it,becomes aware and understands it. After all we don't want any of our family members/relatives/ friends to see or face such awful situations and for that matter even ourselves to be in the fires of death. Also its not completely alright to debate on such wasteful wars or attacks. Before time ticks out we need to get into negotiations and maintain international tranquility. Further if there's a need, the governments and other institutions have to end this game, rather gamble of life, peace and territories. Its high time and we need to curb this social evil.In Hindi " is atankwad aur in atankwadiyon ko bhi jad se ukhad fek na hai".So lets join hand together to create a better, harmonious society for the future and the best thing to serve the purpose would be creating awareness.Lastly lets pray for all the victims. So hows the josh??

Book Review: Table For One by Neha Bindal
 8 September 2018

Book Title: Table For OneAuthor: Neha BindalFormat: Paper BackTotal Number of Pages: 180Language: EnglishPublisher: HALF BAKED BEANSPublishing Date: 20 July 2018ASIN: B07FQ7MWBCTaara Maheshwari, a single woman in her thirties and a successful lawyer, is tough from outside but a die heart fan of romantic movies from inside. She grew up seeking her “happily ever after’ but amid various heartbreaks and culture of modern age short term relationships, her believe in “true connections" got replaced by the comfort of being “emotionally disconnected.”After she turned 31, her parents persuaded her into meeting a guy for marriage who sounded just perfect for her. Acting on impulse, she told her parents that she would meet him only if they let her go on a trip to Europe. As Taara went on to explore the world, she experienced what actually happens when a single Indian girl travels to Europe all by herself. Is it only about dancing, singing or falling in love? What happens after you fall in love? Does love conquer all? Only her story would tell.My TakeThis is the story of protagonist Taara Maheshwari, a successful lawyer in her early thirties still unmarried. She is a confused women, who had encountered some heart breaks and doesn't know what to she wanted in her life. As her parents convinces for an arrange marriage. To which she agreed only if her parents would allow her for solo trip in Europe before marriage. She promised to meet the man once she returned back from the trip fortunately her parents agreed. She thinks it's an escape from marriage and quit her job to fulfill her dream to take a solo trip to Europe. Here her self-exploration starts with travelling diverse destinations, meets different kinds of peoples all around there, sang a song in public, danced crazily, went on trekking,  and many more she explored the Europe. Taara in this trips founds new friends as well as she is attracted towards Fred and was in love with him. To know more what happen next read the book. The book is a bag of emotions of love, heartbreaks, travel, romance, adventure, external love, internal love, self realization, happiness, peace, friends, family, life, and many more.Language is simple crisp and lucid and has the ability to bring live the events narrated in the book. The story flows like a movie and takes the readers on a journey  to Paris, Switzerland and Italy with Taara the every scene is so well written than you can actually get images of them in your mind. Characterization should be have been strong and done better and i don't like the sudden climax. The faced paced and engaging narration. The writer’s words has the capacity to hold the reader till the last page. The storytelling style was different and simply adorable. I loved Taara character through out the book. Characterization should be done better and i don't like the sudden climax. The cover and title is beautifully crafted. We are all taught that the most beautiful part of a fairy-tale is “happily ever after”. But we fail to notice that all fairy tales begin with “Once upon a time”. Once. It all happened. It was all real. Once. No matter who we are, what we do, or where we live, deep inside we all feel incomplete. It’s like we have lost something and need to get it back. Just what that something is, most of us never find out. And of those who do, even fewer manage to go out and look for it. Alone wasn’t just a closed dark room anymore but a whole wide world full of opportunities. I needed to explore and occupy the vastness of the world inside of me, which until now I hadn’t truly understood. Like the houses we build, the sky was also a shelter to few.I'll recommend this book to all the avid reader's.Overall 4/5 StarsGrab the copy here- AMAZON

Selection in world poetry championship 2019
 23 September 2019

Back in June 2019 Mr. Pant tried one more time to make it possible to contribute for the process by which selection in the world poetry championship happens every year in Sinaia located in Romania and to make the first step possible he sent them the email with his two poems attached. For such a great purpose once more he chose the poems on the environment and this time not barrier reef but Arctic was the theme in which he wrote 2 poems and sent them for the submission process so the jury could examine and along side his registration was confirmed by the officials. As a short background here the poems have to go through the peer review and if they are cleared the jury approves them and consider them both for the festival anthology as well as for the Poet's entry in the world poetry championship ceremony that takes place in Romania. Hence when Mr. pant first took on the task to send them on it was a happy moment, he felt elated to send once again back in June 2019 and now only he had to wait for response. Meanwhile the process was on, Mr. pant relived moment of the past, kept in touch with the people who have been part of such a platform also in past, and hence in regular momentum he came to know at least for his satisfaction that his chosen theme was unique and it may inspire some fruitful result on the core that was sure to come. However he had his own douts, whether the languages with spelling mistakes may count, may be some metaphors or other figure of speech be challenging, or other things and while he had come to Delhi with some thinking pranks amongst his old friends and juniors, the luck and fate both awaited. The process was on and he had to wait as it is a long process, the competition is huge and so many poets from all across the world in all ages come to force not willing to miss such a chance and he was patient waiting for his happy moment to come to him soon. Although Mr. Pant was not quiet before he had come to Delhi, he had published 1 more edition of the Warming Boom, had been presented a falicitation by Poetry Ireland, some great responses for his works were still on the go and hence if the news of happy moment would have come sooner thence it was going to be  an icing on the cake making it more delightful. He kept himself busy in those days, had some content writing with the Writing Squad, made some more great friends after coming back to the Indian capital for 1 year computer course and here also in July he had managed to release the 2nd edition of print books from Poetry Ireland and all that was going to come was a bigger happy news that could increase the celebration. The process was almost done as the August was coming, Mr. pant's wait was still on the same pedestal being patient, and hence after reading through some great posts from T S sir about poetry as well as the progress of the World Literature Academy of Romania, the happy hopes were to come around. It was now just a matter of time to share a great news with all and it has now happened as the news of the result of the selection has come this 3rd of August and different lists are made according to the category of the creative works as other genres for presentations in the festival anthology are also considered. There are some prominent poets who are on the top list, the other list contains the proce, One more that considers the Hykoo writers, and mainly where Mr. Pant's name is of the Primie De Excillenta, where after counting the names from the top Mr. pant is able to find his name listed on the 107th spot and feels honoured to have such a great joy. Thus he would like to express his gratitude to parents and family, the world poetry championship jury and Ts sir with his entire team from Romania, Mr. Pant's author team both online and in Mumbai offices, and most vitally all the readers across all the Europe and world, And his deepest of congratulations to all who are coming for championship ceremony. He hopes that the memory shall be a cracking one coming in future. He is excited to look forward to be part of it with all the great poets for a great memory to cherish. And once again thanks to all those with who's blessings this has been made possible once again, till more happy moments and delight of the championship moments come It's cheers from charlie for now...

But a turning point in their lives sets them apart, with their soul still united and strong. Experience a roller coaster of emotions in this story. Find out how Sushil changed into a successful person from an ordinary boy.My TakeStarting from the title of the book You Are the best thing That Happened to Me gives the hint’s to readers it’s going to be a love story. The title is apt according to the plot.  It’s been said that never judge a book cannot be judged by looking at its cover alone but I personally feel cover can be much better to catch attraction among readers. The story starts with an award function where our protagonist Sushil Pandit receives an award for best employee of the year 2016. Sushil Pandit is a mechanical engineer by profession and author of two bestselling novels. He has achieved everything in life except the love of his life. After the function on his way to home he happens to meets Anuradha a journalism student who doing some research on authors. Anuradha wants to know more about Sushi’s life after achieving everything in life he is incomplete.  Then the story enters into the flashback memories of when he was in school. Sushil joins a coaching center with his friends to improve grades in subject. There he meets Anjali for the first time and felt attracted towards her. Later Anjali and Sushil become best friends who can understand each other well. Sushil was confused with his feelings towards Anjali is it love or attraction? Ashish and Anjali are they both equally important to him he can’t even think of losing one for other. On the other hand Ashish had a crush on Anjali. To know more what happened next to Sushil read the book. The author had beautifully weaved the struggles of every middle class family, the family bonding, surprise birthday celebration of Anjali at tuition center, hang outs with friends, decision to choose between career and love, struggles after college, job hunt and many more incidents. I love how cunning crafted the mother and sons bonding.Language of the book is lucid and written in a simple way to comprehend for any kind of reader. A book which won’t require the use of a dictionary, a book which evens an amateur reader would love to get indulged in. The pace of the story is slow and kept dragging at some time. The characters are well developed and one can easily relate them.  Narration of the book is simple and engaging. A few typographical errors here and there need to be rectified. If the edit was done properly, the story would have sounded much better. If the Hindi dialogues were translated into English it was much better since everyone will not able to understand it.I recommend this book to the readers who are seeking for a quick read or a light-hearted romantic novel.Overall 3/5 StarsGrab the copy here- Amazon |FlipkartAbout the AuthorSushil Kumar Rana is a Mechanical Engineer work in an MNC company in Odisha. Music Story
 16 March 2018

Harvey Leigh Cantwel aka HRVY  is the guy of every teenage girl’s dream. With sky blue eyes and a ruffled blonde hairdo, the 19 year old lad is a fountain of talent. Seated at the Bottomline Media office, in a pair of torn jeans and a dark blue kurta, with his management team all around, when we meet HRVY, he’s like your boy next door, casual and down to earth. His first ever live performance at Hard Rock Cafe in Mumbai was sold out with many claiming his performance was truly astounding. He had the girls literally falling for him. His alluring face, million dollar smile and attractive looks, all go to make him a real charmer. HRVY is today one of the most searched singers with his video Personal clocking about 50 million views to date. His songs Phobia, Holiday and the latest single Personal are hot favourites with teens, with their lyrics, most stemming from HRVY’s personal life experiences. HRVY is a social media sensation on platforms such as Instagram and Twitter Before his fame on social media, HRVY was a presenter on BBC’s Friday Download. After that he took to social media and released his first EP, Holiday on 25th July, 2017. While his name is on every teens lips, we can’t but wonder, why the Londoner from Kent, chose HRVY and not his real name. We choose to find out this and lot more when The Teenager Today’s music columnist Verus Ferreira got exclusive access to the dashing youngster. Here are excerpts from that conversation:So everyone wants to know the reason for the change in name. Can you tell us where the ‘a’ and ‘e’ disappeared? My team thought we might take out the vowels ‘a’ and ‘e’, and see how it sounds and make my name sound a bit different. It just stuck What music did you listen to while you were growing up?I listened to U2, songs that my dad used to play in the car. I also like Justin Timberlake, he’s great, then there’s a singer Craig David from the UK and a lot of people who were on the charts while I was growing up. So when did the real love for music light up in you?Music got my fancy at a young age when I was like five or six when I first got to understand what music really was and really enjoyed listening to it. By the time I was 13, I decided that music was what I wanted to do. I had posted a cover of a song on Facebook called ‘Simply Amazing’ by American singer Trey Songz. I shared it around on Facebook and it got a lot of traction for me and it just reached a new high. Then my manager thought I should make a video of it with me singing in it and yeah that’s how it really clicked. So it was a Facebook video which appeared on YouTube. Do songs like Phobia, Holiday, or Personal, give out a message to all your fans? Well not really, I mean, we just write about how we feel which is a concept on how we all work. I like Holiday which is a bit of fun, while Phobia was like more of heart break song, and I know people would like that kind of stuff, it’s just got that romantic side to it. So do these songs stem from your real life experiences? Some of it kind of influenced it a bit, while some of it isn’t, and some is just made up. Well going back in time I liked this girl and so it comes from there. Well the songs are a little bit of my own experiences, and so like I said, like Personal has a line about my ex girlfriend, with a line... you used to flirt with your friends. And as I said I guess a lot is also made up. Every artist goes to a lot of obstacles to reach the top, you have succeeded quite easily. How did you do it?I feel like my career is only just started, and I am sure there will be some obstacles in the way in the future. I think for now it’s been pretty okay, I’ve been on the top, so I’m fine. Your EP ‘Talk with Ya’ has both the songs Phobia and Personal. Phobia is slow, while Holiday is a bit up tempo. How do the fans react to such songs? The fans really like Phobia because it’s much slower, while Personal is danceable, which is really good, so they get a chance to choose what they really like, they have both, songs that they can chill out to at a party and the other to just listen to. Besides singing do play any musical instruments?I really want to learn the piano; I think it’s a very beautiful instrument So in the future what songs would you like to make, slow or maybe a few dance numbers?I would like to release music that has everything, that has both slow and fast numbers.Coming to your first visit to Mumbai, when you knew you were coming to India, what is the first thought that came to your mind?I am really happy to be in India, even if it’s just 5 days. It’s amazing to see such a diverse culture out here. I love the people, they’re so friendly. Everyone who I met, asked me about how I liked the country. They were really very nice and kind to me. So have you heard or watched any Bollywood movies?I have heard a lot of Bollywood and there’s this actor that we have been talking about with my team, I think his name is Shah Rukh Khan and yes I want to watch his movies before I go or take some DVDs home with me. You also have a tour with The Vamps coming up soon, are you also planning a collaboration with them also?Yes I have a tour with them in March and about collaboration well who knows, we are all friends and it may happen. So for now, it’s just the tour with them and just have some fun and yes we want to come to India again. I love the country and will be here again soon. The Vamps are supposed to be on tour in India in June this year and I’m coming back with them. Do you plan on shooting any music videos in India, considering that there have been many artists like Coldplay who have also shot videos here? Now that I have been here I definitely want to shoot a video, and yes the next time we come to India, or maybe when we come in June and also at the end of the year, we may just decide on it. We would probably take in a bit of the Indian culture in it and yes wear something like this (points to his blue kurta). So what are your dreams and aspirations? To take over the world in a good way, musically have my music everywhere. What are your future plans?Just keep releasing songs and to release more music, travel around the world....... just to have fun.... really. What memories would you take from India?I take memories of the people, how they relate to me, the things I’ve seen on the streets, everything around me, the food. I want to try some street food, we haven’t really done that yet, we have kind of hotel food at the moment, so I want to try the dosa. So finally we come to a question many girls would want to know. Do you have a girlfriend? No (laughs). I don’t, I am singleAny message for your fans? I love you guys, thank you for being so supportive, Shukriya. Text and Photos by Verus Ferreira
