WHY YOU SHOULD NOT STUDY PSYCHOLOGY AND OTHER PARADOXES.

The first question people have when someone tells them they are studying psychology is, ‘can you tell what I’m thinking?’ The answer to that question is no because psychologists are not mentalists. Nor can they ever be. Psychology is the science of understanding the how’s and why’s. How they think, how they work, how they behave and most importantly, WHY they think, WHY they work and WHY they behave as they do. Human species is a complexity at best. We are paradoxical beings. Saying something and doing something entirely different. Psychology helps us bridge the gap between the saying and doing. Moreover, after you study the subject, get a look at the theories that have been proposed, you start applying it to the situations around you. You start understanding the reasons behind the sly smiles and the meaningful looks. You begin to understand that every person in this world has a reason and a past. The reason for their behavior and their past which has shaped them into the person that they have become. It gives you a brilliant glimpse of life through the other person’s eyes. You become more empathetic, instead of sympathizing, you connect with another soul on a level so as to understand them better. You become more open and loving because you understand that every person in this world is fighting their own battles so you want to do everything to help. That’s the good part. Now, the paradox. You can never truly be pissed off at someone. You can never truly be angry because you will be bound to rationalize their actions and invariably find a logical theory to support their behavior. This may seem like ideal behavior in print but not being angry or not taking out your anger is as dangerous as the next viral outbreak. It rots you from inside until you become a chamber of nothingness.So you see, herein lies the problem. Psychology is a field of tremendous irony and in this irony, we, as humans can only hope to not get lost because it makes us better humans for one yet vials of emptiness for others.

For many people, what they wear is only a matter of habit, but when we dress in the morning or going somewhere like in party, office or even for shopping it might pay us to be a little more careful in the choices we make. Doing experiments with your clothes and trying out something different might be a way of changing the impression others have of you.My wardrobe says a lot about me. The concept of facing mental health problems and seeking help for them in India is highly tabooed. I have had a hard time processing this. In a diverse country like, differently able people, the LGBTQ and so on are not respected and sometimes even condemned. It is an irony in itself, isn't it? Some of the words people use are 'Cursed' or 'Paying for sins in their last birth'. I think mental health patients face a similar problem. People think you don't have a strong character the moment you mention your problem.Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an important concept in psychology and sociology. The events that lead to the disorder are as follows:1. Stressor: directly experiencing a traumatic incident; second hand by police,counselors etc; learning that someone close has experienced trauma.2. Intrusion in memory: keep thinking about it; flashbacks and nightmares.3. Changes in attitude: nothing seems enjoyable anymore; eating too much or too less; feeling of isolation; lack of participation in activities; negative feelings about everything and everyone.4. Avoidance and Reactions:saying no to parties and getting together; irritated by little things; difficulty concentrating, difficulty sleeping at night; suicide attempts; panic attacks.If these symptoms persist for more than a month, it is PTSD and it needs treatment. The following events can cause trauma in an individual:Childhood issues; divorce and disputes in family; sexual assault or rape; witnessing death of loved ones- accident, suicide or war and so on.Many are not aware of the various treatments for people diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder. First and foremost, we need to be there for such and give them  love and support when they facing such problems without overwhelming them with too much attention. Some of the treatments are listed below:1. Selective Serotonin Re uptake Inhibitors (SSRI)- induces positive thoughts, also called 'happy neuro-transmitters'.2. Myths are some historical fictional stories which provide us apparently unreal though unexplored assumptions. They provide us many truths but mostly they are overshadowed by its unreal fantasies. So we never try to understand the inner meaning of the Mythology blaming its misleading approach to Knowledge and Truth. It first influence an individual by its seductive charm and gradually to the group which he belongs and becomes part of religion. Myths often contribute heavily to our perceptions of how the world works. We may not see the incidents what is written in Mythology but always felt a great mysterious  presence of reality in those divine or demonic deeds as in our lives. Myths emphasize the invisible, yet they also hint that mythic reality strongly influences everyday human life.Myth appears itself as simple stories but corresponds with our life, psychology, moral codes, Philosophy and Truth. They reveal the power of love, the violence of men, the mystery of death, relations between God and Human, and give us the answers of many Great questions but Different myth tackles these great questions in very distinctive ways.In case of analyzing Myth, we need to have courage to question belief and reality. Now the question comes how belief works? In reality mostly belief doesn’t base on Logic but some authoritative advice which people believe unconsciously, in other way Fact is provable. Yet they also pointed out hidden connections between invisible realities and the ordinary people, places, things and events that they and their audiences daily experienced. But only true visionaries can see that invisible reality exist beyond it. Myth can instruct by going beyond literal truth. Mythic storytelling also continues to evolve in efforts to explore the spiritual dimension often hidden by ordinary perception.  Myth gives us many times false massages but only to disguise the truth. Some Christians may say that, it is the Post modern Dilemma where we question Eternal being. But I believe we have right to question as we have freedom to have free will.Such stories often convey important moral lessons, and bring to light important yet otherwise abstract psychological issues and moral dilemmas. The superhero and fantasy science fiction stories enjoyed by older children as well as adults explore more complex notions such as destiny and the vastness of time, highlighting the subtleties of trying to do the right thing in a complex world. Even Legends in Mythology  do usually tell of such people interacting with unseen beings forces; the heroes in legends thus often serve as models for the way anyone might themselves interact with the mysterious aspects of their daily life experience. It symbolically depicts what is invisible to most.which only visionaries can see.

Emptiness - In Gita Verse 3.11 The demigods, being pleased by sacrifices, will also please you, and thus, by cooperation between men and demigods, prosperity will reign for all.Krishna is saying to Arjuna that if you act from your subjectivity you will not be alone, many demigods will help you for this act. But if you are stuck in the objective world and want to act from objective world then you are alone, you will not get any support from demigods.When you act from your subjectivity you are connected with universe. You may feel that through your body you took action but at that time the whole universe has used your body for particular action. You are not alone, the whole is with you. Combination of your body and universe at that time carry that action. This action is for growth and benefits of everyone around you.We are not familiar with our subjectivity, we are only familiar with our objective world, we feel that when we are in objective world we are together. This is the illusion we have as we are not introduced ourselves with our subjectivity. Our subjectivity is very alive, full, whole. During the day many times we have realized that some kind of emptiness in us. This is our subjectivity, we get scared as we are not familiar with that emptiness. This is our connection with the universe. But as we are only familiar with objective world we feel that emptiness is alone. But it is not true.Once you recognized it, become familiar with it then - Slowly slowly, you see that emptiness is not just emptiness; it is fullness, but the fullness of which you have never been aware, a fullness of which you have never tasted.So in the beginning it looks empty; in the end it is full, totally full, over flowingly full. It is full of peace, it is full of silence, it is full of light.There are only two ways of living in life. One is to live it from the very core of your being, from your subjectivity — that has been the way of the mystics. Meditation is nothing but a device to make you aware of your real self, your emptiness — which is not created by you, which need not be created by you, which you already are. You are born with it, you ARE it! It needs to be discovered. If this is not possible, or if the society does not allow it to happen…and no society allows it to happen, because the real self is dangerous — dangerous for the established church, dangerous for the state, dangerous for the crowd, dangerous for the tradition — because once a man knows his real self, he becomes an individual. He no longer belongs to the mob psychology; he will not be superstitious, and he cannot be exploited. He cannot be led like cattle, he cannot be ordered and commanded. He will live according to his light, he will live from his own inwardness. His life will have tremendous beauty, integrity. But that is the fear of the society.Take the example of Guru Gobind SIngh - Guru Gobind Singh gained great stature as both saint and soldier. He was also an intellectual and wrote many powerful spiritual compositions that infused a martial spirit in the people.After Gobind Singhji’s father was publicly beheaded in Delhi on November 11, 1675 under the instructions of the then Mughal ruler Aurangzeb for refusing to convert to Islam.To save his Sikh community from compulsory conversion of Islam, he become fighter, with the awareness of his true self and connection with his subjectivity.How the universe wants to use our body leave that decision to the universe, but be alert about your connection with your subjectivity. Guru Gobind SIngh become individual by self-alertness.Integrated persons become individuals, and the society wants you to be non-individuals. Instead of individuality, society teaches you to be a personality. The word ‘personality’ has to be understood. It comes from a root, ‘persona’ — persona means a mask. The society gives you a false idea of who you are; it gives you just a toy, and you go on clinging to the toy your whole life.The one way is to live through meditation — then you live a life of rebellion, of adventure, of courage. Then you really live! The other way to live, or to fake living, is the way of the ego — strengthen the ego, nourish the ego; so that you need not look into the self, cling to the ego. The ego is an artifact created by the society to deceive you, to distract you.By giving the example of Guru Gobind Singh every one of us got the idea that unless we are meditative and connected with our subjectivity we cannot respond to the present moment in the objective world.Krishna is saying Arjuna drop your ego, drop misery, so you can connect with your subjectivity your own Godliness and then this war for you instead of mundane will become assignment of Universe, and your body will be vehicle for the universe.

Pride - In Gita Verse 2.34 People will always speak of your infamy, and for a respectable person, dishonor is worse than death.Now Krishna is saying that knowing well your assignment if you will not fulfill then for respected person, dishonor is worse than death.Here Krishna speaks about self-respect, person who is conscious towards himself only know what is self-respect. For him Arjuna just in this moment has slipped into his unconsciousness. He was and the probability is very strong to awaken him towards himself. Otherwise Krishna would not have put so much of effort on Arjuna and become his charioteer. So from all the different angles he is trying to give him a call to wake him towards self.Learn to be authentic, integrated individuals with immense self-respect. The word self-respect may create doubts in your mind because self-respect seems to again mean the ego. It is not so. You have to understand both words, self and respect; both are significant.Self is that which you are born with. Ego is that which you accumulate; ego is your achievement.Self is a gift of existence to you. You have not done anything to earn it, you have not achieved it; hence nobody can take it away from you. That is impossible because it is your nature, your very being.Ego is all that you go on accumulating through education, manners, civilization, culture, schools, colleges, universities… You go accumulating it. It is your effort, you have made it, and you have made it so big that you have completely forgotten your real self.To know the real self is enough: the ego falls flat on the ground without any effort to surrender it. Unless the ego falls on its own, without your effort, it is not going to leave you. If you make effort to drop it, and that is what surrender is… All the religions teach surrender, hence I say they don’t understand even the very basics of psychology. Ego has not to be surrendered, it has to be seen. It has to be understood through and through.That is the meaning of respect. It is one of the most beautiful words in the English language. It does not mean what it has come to mean: honor. No – respect simply means re-spect, to look again. That’s the literal meaning of the word; there is no place for honor. Just look again, look back, look deep. Spect means to see, look; re means again. Once, you had known it.Before you entered and became part of a society, a culture, a civilization, you knew it. It is not a coincidence that people go on thinking that their childhood was the most beautiful part of their life. It is a long-forgotten memory, because there have been days in your life, the earliest days, which you cannot remember exactly; only a vague feeling, a kind of fragrance, a kind of shadow is there.If you re-spect, if you look again and go deep into your existence, you are going to find the place from where you started losing yourself and gaining the ego.That moment is a moment of illumination because once you have seen what the ego is, the game is finished.So, drop the ego, because that means I accept the reality of your ego. And how are you going to drop it – you are it. Right now, you are it. The self you have lost far away back in the past. There is a great distance between you and your self. Right now you are existing at the periphery of yourself. That periphery is pretending to be yourself. That pretender is the ego. Now telling the ego, “Drop! Surrender! Be humble!” is simply idiotic.Self-respect and pride are noncomparative; that’s the basic difference.In ego you are always comparing: I am superior to others, I am better than you, I am higher than you, I am holier than you – I am a saint and you are a sinner. Whatever the reason, you are comparing yourself as being superior and reducing the other to being inferior. This is the formation of the ego.But pride is noncomparative. It does not say anything about anybody else. It simply says: I am respectful of myself, I love myself, I am proud just to be – just to be here in this beautiful existence. It does not say anything about anybody else. The moment you go into comparison, you start an ugly game.My respect toward myself is not a hindrance for you to be respectful toward yourself. In fact I would love you to be respectful toward yourself because if you are not respectful toward yourself, who is going to be respectful toward you? If you are not proud of being a human being, the most evolved consciousness in existence, then who is going to be proud of you?And your being proud is really nothing but a gratefulness for all that existence has given to you – it is tremendous. We are not worthy of it; we don’t deserve it. We have not earned it, we can’t claim it. It is just out of the abundance of existence that it has given to us everything. We don’t value what we have because we take it for granted.Krishna is right now just giving Arjuna shock to wake-up towards self. He knows once he will wake up immediately he will know that he was gone into deep sleep and it was wake up call by Krishna. He will come back to his PRIDE.

Q: Please give details about your initial education and forming years of life.A: I am currently pursuing the B.E. Program in Electrical Engineering from Punjab Chandigarh College, Chandigarh. I am a writer and a poet. I love to sing, and study about music and psychology. My other interests include painting, sketching and public speaking. I just want to do it all.Q: How did you get interested in literature? What inspired you to write?  A: When I was growing up, I went through my phases of teen rebel, the melodrama of youth and the feelings of being misunderstood. I had a hard time dealing with growing up and facing the world. And when I couldn't find any other way to deal with it, one day I decided to write, and the words came flowing to my mind and I was amazed. It felt so good and relieving, that I continued with writing poems, articles and stories, and read them to my family and friends.Q: What difficulties did you have to face with respect to literary work? Sometimes you are so weighed down by your emotions that you don't want to write about them because at times, that is like, piercing knives through your heart. It hurts so bad to confront and re-confront the bad stuff but then again, that also gives you some of your best work. So, i don't mind it but it sure feels difficult to be eaten alive by something you love doing, so dearly. So that is one difficult thing about it, the way how everything is sometimes so difficult to write about when it's just screaming out of you, everywhere.Q: What is your view about the present-day literary work?  A: I think it's amazing how so many writers have found various platforms and a lot of stories are coming out. New Genres are being formed and everybody is now pushing their limits, which is great. I couldn't have agreed more. Digital platforms are a blessing to a budding writer's world.Q: Please tell us something about your literary work.  A: Most of the stuff I write about is centered around the themes of growing up, parting, solitude and escapism. I take inspiration from my own life and the lives of people around me. I try to paint a picture with my words and try to do in the most honest and sometimes dark manner. I have also written about suicide, death, friends and teenage and I am open to writing more about being spiritual and what it means to be happy and sad. I want to go and explore different themes and write about each one of them, if I can. I think I am a tireless nomad in search for something that connects everything.Q: What was your first literary work and how was it published?A: My first literary work was with StoryMirror. I had never tried my hand at writing but one day i decided to and so I sent one of my poems 'The rush of your dreams' in the inter-college level competition organized by StoryMirror. I was completely shaken, and I still remember that feeling like it was yesterday. Q: How many ways literature can contribute to society in future? A: Well, for one, I’d say literature is going to save the world. He,who uses humanity to justify His sins.

To help further understand, analyse these.Charles Siebert, “An Elephant Crackup”. The New York Times Magazine. 8th October 2006, 1-19Anupama Rao, “Death of a Kotwal: The Violence of Recognition.” In The Caste Question: Dalits and the Politics of Modern India, Anupama Rao, University of California Press,241-264. Man is in the forever need to make himself advanced and supreme. In a rut to reach the top of his own and exceed others’ capacity, varied levels of living are created. The greedy supreme Man reaches the Elite level, while the other exceptional humans and non-humans fall at the subaltern specie level. This paper argues how when these Elite humans, subject to disruption over the subordinate, find humanity those groups to justify their heinous acts. By attributing and hence destroying affection,empathy, courage and other similar key features to the subalterns, humans try to shift the blame of being the cruel and corrupt over to them. Coexistence of individuals in any group of the living leads to a natural bond of affection and connectivity. Owing to the constant greed of Man to advance, He takes it upon himself, to intervene in the subaltern lifestyle and produce disharmony to reach the top. Siebert in his essay confirms how animals are most comfortable in their natural habitat and admonish any kind of trespassing. He claims that, “Elephants, when left to their own devices, are profoundly social creatures”(5). Their intricately organized community is a symbol of compassion; a common characteristic of the humane. After considering this, the Man gets an instinct to steal such a trait common to him from any specie which is unknown. Upon action, he goes as far as redeveloping their habitats and lifestyle. And hence a sudden challenge of disbalance is created. He indulges in a series of gruesome acts such as hunting, poaching and culling to extract resources off of the non Human, and thereby extracting the humanity off of them. Upon disruption, elephants too rumble in protest. In a maze on who should reach the top, be free and unique, the companionship is lost. Rao expels similar ideas and expresses how exertion of power by the the ones in authority and rule over a minority group renders discontent and division in a unified community. She reflects the incident and writes, “In fact they were dependent on Ambadas. With the entry of the Shiv Sena two years ago , the first seeds of discord were sown.” (252). The community which had recognized representatives and leaders collectively, was now to be in a state of separated opinions because Man in power imposed himself to disturb a tranquil habitat. The police and press, even after submission of members of the Elite party who were thought to be the convicts of Sawane’s murder, the meek humans didn’t settle for the punishment but encouraged further investigation. This act of refusal to admit defeat and crime committed plants seeds in the hearts of the natives from the subaltern to quit their humanity and battle the Human-Monster. Where in both the cases, the Elite Human intervention was out of greed and power, the distortion created rendered the Dalit’s powerless and elephants in pain. In an attempt to make the world rosy for existence where Man leads, he paints the universe with colours of dissatisfaction and disbelief.In the world where survival of the fittest runs parallely across species, when Man subjugates, he also invokes the emotion of liberation. Humans, owing to their intelligence and constant greed for power and knowledge have called up for a battle from many species unlike his. In Siebert’s essay one can witness a history of disturbance caused by man in the world of elephants. He writes, “It is not leaving without making some kind of statement, one to which scientists from a variety of disciplines,including human psychology,are now beginning to pay close attention”(3). In the need to justify his acts of cruelty and show domination, He attributes a sense of bravery and courage to the rogue species but diminishes their struggle infront of himself. While practicing another selfish act, of creating priviledges for self and obscuring others, the human race dissects on the basis of caste. By introducing differentiated humans, Dalits, form the subaltern group which revolts against the Upper castes, the superiors further impose authority over them. Rao realizes this difference and remarks, “However the resilience of everyday practices of stigmatization also conditions Dalits’ continued quest for social justice and dignity”(263). On one hand where social stigmas are created within this segregated society, there is still an ongoing revolt to attain equity with the Upper Caste Humans. When the media, the legislation, the judiciary see the uneasiness of living caused to Dalits and asserts politics into it, the Hindus reward it by calling it a courageous monotonous deed and a part of their lifestyle. Thereby signifying that the atrocities are nothing but a similar humane act which they are bound to deal with. After interfering with these subaltern groups and categorizing their actions as a testimony of the struggle to regain their individuality, the Man belittles their movements and produces the need to explore these species through his eyes of humanity.In order to upgrade their behaviors and functions, the Humans wish to understand other species and create an environment of empathy to gain their trust. This need to gain belief stems from spheres of the subordinate groups when they are disrupted by the Human intervention. Anupama Rao expounds on the Kotwal murder case by sharing the impact created by various findings gathered and reported by institutions. In reality, where the elites formed the face of the state and recognized it as ‘progressive’, they themselves gave birth to caste and encouraged discrimination. Rao expresses the urgent upheaval caused and says, “On September 6, the DIGP and the PCR Cell in Bombay demanded that special police officers be sent to investigate untouchability in the villages mentioned in the Maharashtra Times and Times of India articles” (251). Close investigations were then to be charged as a classic way of repenting the wrong done by the authoritarian humans to create a sense of understanding in the minds of the aggrieved specie. At times in order to make themselves more involved with other species, humans prove themselves to be in the same shoes as others. Siebert after having conversed with Abe reaffirms, ““Elephants are suffering and behaving in the same ways that we recognize in ourselves as a result of violence,”she told me”(8). By recognizing an emotion as strong as violence and equating this feeling in their lifestyle, Humans empathize with the elephants to realize their(elephant’s) individuality in relation to themselves. However the cause and effect of disruption maybe, Man declares self to have dealt with same. After perturbing the non animal’s to the animal’s peaceful lifestyle,empathy shown in relation to their own makes up a successful defensive measure against the barbarism caused.In this ever evolving cosmos, peaceful survival of different species of living beings has taken a backseat. Where species apart from the Elite race unknowingly reflect traits of humanity, Man has learned to extract these subalterns away from traits personal to his. To achieve this, he adopts a series of tasks of ignorance, intervention, destruction and further violence which make the subaltern species ultimately either give in to acceptance or lose their space of existence on this planet. At the summit of this volcano still, Man stands waving his flag of repentance and justification. He started the war and never lets anyone contest or win. With others’ hands tied and his limbs free, the monstrous volcano of humanity erupts. Now he waves the flag for peace.  

Individualism vs. Collectivism

A few days back I read once again Ayn Rand’s Fountainhead, when I had read it earlier as a school going child I had not understood it at all. I had found it silly and boring; the old copy was still lying in the corner of my father’s bookshelf. My hand stretched involuntarily to pick up the yellow-paged old book a few days back. I started reading it late in the evening and kept at it into the night to finish in a readathon (like marathon) manner. This time I saw the book anew. It was fresh and ringed of issues and thoughts which are relevant even today, as they were at that time, in 1957, and I think they will be still relevant for years to come.The Russian immigrant writer was strong-willed, intelligent and years ahead of her time. The philosophical novel which she wrote then invited much criticism but soon it gained lots of popularity and sold millions of copies.  I feel the story of the protagonist though larger than life, why I am saying larger than life as the feelings, conditions, the circumstances which he goes through are little hard to find in today’s world. Many people go through times when they have to succumb to societal pressures, make deal with their ideas, priorities and sooner or later they do it for the sake of their family, friends, careers and what not. But Fountain head’s hero is not ready for a compromise. Not as a student, never as a professional. He is at war with the complete society. He does not give up even after being jobless, alone and broke. It is an amazing read, and I will not venture further. Those who have read it will understand the points which I have mentioned. Those who have not read it, I suggest should read it.Here I want to draw out the philosophy of Fountainhead. Ayn Rand supports individualism on the face of collectivism. It is hard to digest for an Indian, as all other societies but predominantly Indian’s have always been supporting collectivism. We have been always taught to sacrifice, bend, compromise for the sake of family, society, organization and many more. As psychology says a man is a social animal and likes to live in groups. Since the period when a man was a caveman he learned a lesson that if he has to survive then he should live in groups, otherwise he does not have a chance in front of the wild animals. The lessons taken in the jungle worked wonderfully till man dwelled in a cave. It gave him security, protection, recognition, power and many more. But once the wheel was made, the fire was ignited, mines were dug, and houses were constructed things changed.The civilized world came into being, with it came rules and regulations.  Discipline was ingrained and customs and traditions became prevalent and then staunch for the smooth running of the society. But, then it was possible for a man to live independently, think independently and work also. When I say independently it does not mean, to live like Robinson Crusoe alone on an island with no contact with the world. That is something totally different; it is a disorder if you choose to do it while living in this usual friendly world. When I say think independently means to take certain decisions, which could be distinct, advanced and revolutionary. It may not fit in with the run of the mill, prevalent set of thinking or working culture of a particular society. But if an individual finds it correct, if he or she has complete faith in his work, concept, project or whatever decision he or she has taken then that individual should go ahead with it with complete confidence. In short ‘dare.’In our own country, India and a huge list of foreign countries we have examples wherein we can see that since time immemorial society has ridiculed, tortured, outcasted individuals with advanced ideas which were completely strange, foreign to that generation. There is a long list, right from Galileo, the Wright Brothers, Edison, Marie Currie, Edward Jenner and many more had to go through great pains and efforts to make people realize the importance of their work. In India as well there have been many great men and women who have been educators, reformists, social workers, businessmen whose work was at first trashed but later on understood and hence accepted by people. Why is it so that people are not ready to accept anything new? I think one of the problems which I can perceive lies in the psyche. We humans or even animals get conditioned to a certain routine, habits, weather and almost everything. If we are doing a certain chore every day, or we have been listening about a certain notion over the years, coming down from parents, grandparents and so on; then our mind and even our body accept it without any resistance. In other words, we can say this is the training of a kind. Our body and mind get prepared to see and then accept certain things in a certain way. As in Fountainhead, the Americans of that time were used to see and hence build completely orthodox, conformist kind of buildings which is why they were not liking and hence opposing the innovative ideas of Howard Roark. Some are so influenced by a certain style of living, that they get upset and so angry and jealous to see innovation. Sometimes, these sensitive minds can see or judge that the idea in front of them is fantastic but they are not willing to change, they do not want to come out of their comfort zone. Here again, I will give an example of the manipulative journalist Ellsworth Toohey of Fountainhead. Just because he didn’t appreciate or understand Roark’s independent thinking, his revolutionary ideas, Toohey tried his level best to finish Roark. In the real world also, where we dwell, there are certain elements like Toohey who do not welcome fresh ideas. But I firmly believe that if we look at today’s world analytically, the progress which it has made in leaps and bounds is because of a germ of an idea, vision, a dream seen by an individual. It is very rare that a dream is carried forward by a society as a whole.  It is always initially an individual dream, may be taken up by the society much later. If the individual manages to convince the society of his dream then it propels into a nationwide, statewide revolutionary idea, but never in the beginning.With assurance, I say that individualism, (as in liberty to try new things, set on a new path, try new ways at looking at this good old world) is much greater and better way of living. It should be allowed, helped, propagated and seen as navigators of the progressive world. Collectivism may have helped us in certain situations; where great upheaval is required to turn the old world structure into a new one. But here, I must point out; even this great revolution is always started by one man, one situation. To be always be trapped in the shackles of society’s beliefs, their likings, their fears, their conceptions or misconceptions, how far one can carry this heavy load. There will always come a time when one would like to dump the load and think and move freely.  After all, we are genetically distinct from the sheep which follows each other with precision. We are at the peak of the ecosystem because of the structure of our brain. This boiling pot requires fresh ideas for sustenance, as only change is constant and always needed. Bridge the gap between education and skill development

Here is what they have to say.Tell us about your journey and why BRINGLE started?India is relatively young as a nation with around 28 million youth population being added every year. There is a surge in the implementation of educational technologies for improving student learning. Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life: the means because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one's awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behaviour to understanding one's rights – and in the process help him/her evolve as a better citizen. Doubtless, education is the most powerful catalyst for social transformation. But child education cannot be done in isolation.Thus began the idea of bridging the gap between education and skills development in 2016. We strive to transform lessons into engaging student-centered, active learning experiences. We began our journey of combining technology with education at Thane, Maharashtra with one center. Our main focus was quaint computer courses and six sigma green and black belt courses.We found our purpose when a young adult with cerebral palsy joined us to learn computers. It was a challenging situation for us to alter our pedagogy and create a learning environment for him. Perhaps most importantly, educators should demonstrate a great deal of emotional support and patience and utilize effective teaching strategies for students with cerebral palsy. Providing positive academic feedback, assisting students in developing friendships with general education peers, and communicating frequently with parents and therapists are all ways that teachers can inspire confidence and success in students with cerebral palsy. Karma : Indian point of view to western questions

Karma: Myth and Philosophical TheoryFew days ago, I read an article on Karma. I have enjoyed that Article. It is very rare when you get chance to read an article which force you to bend your mind for thinking beyond the boundaries of your bubble of thoughts. I would like to request with reader that if they want they can visit my friend website. He writes about various topics and ideas which are energetic and great.His Article raised many question about the concept of karma. I replied him in his comment box but that was short and unorganized reply. So, I thought that it should be create as blog where I would be able to explain my point more efficiently. There is five major question raised in that article. These questions are related to law of karma, implication and evidence of existence.The first question is about if there is some kind of karma (good and bad), than who will decide that what is good karma? According to whom it will indicate that Karma is good or bad?Before exploring this answer, we must understand that in western dictionary, karma is considered as Consequence of our action. But in Indian philosophy, the definition of karma is slightly different. Karma is not confined to mere consequence of an individual action or action of a society. The word "Karma" is defined as consequence of an individual action within fold of adharma and dharma. Here, Dharma is the natural properties define by Nature to an object and adharma is resistive nature towards someone natural properties. For example, Water has properties to cool material object and Fire can burn objects. These properties of fire and water have predetermine consequence by nature. This is how nature has been constructed and natural consequence is mechanically knot with infinite causality with others. So, human natural properties has been define into three nature- Good (Sattav), Bad (Tamas) and Gray (Rajas). No human can be extreme good or bad.In various ratios, our natural properties have been construct which is direct or indirect result of our location and the era we born.So, Karma is consequence of our action which is result of what we do against or in favour of our swadharma (A term defined for individual dharma because people have various properties). The fruit is of the same quality as the action.— Mahabharata, xii.291.2This verse of mahabharata explain an outline of Good and bad karma. Human life is mirror of his own action. Definition of Good karma is comes from your own perception about world. If a person want to be wealthy, he must do action which not hurt someone else financially. If a person want to be love by everyone, he must be kind to others. There is no God words and holy direction to achieve good karma. There is only one dharmic rule."Do the same action which you expect from others."So,good and bad karma according to whom? This can be answer with this dharmic rule that "according to you". According to our understanding of good and bad karma.Irrespective of this dharmic rule for karma, Human is social animal. In this world we are so strongly interlinked that sometime it is hard for us to even understand that what went wrong within our society. In that situation, Hindu philosophy introduces the concept of Guru or swami. a person who studied the society and spread word against any action or karma which is not in line with current need of society. They are like ancient social reformer. Because eastern religion, especially Hinduism has decentralised religious structure, so it is very hard to challenge any change proposed by Guru and swami.But the negative side of this decentralise religious structure is that it take long time for social reform.The second question raised by article is that the idea of karma concerns free will. The dividing line between what is free action and what is not free action is unclear. Accusation has that Indian school of thought says there is moral consequence to freely undertaken actions. This idea is really thought provoking that weather karma conflict with free will of human. But the bigger question is that do we have really a free will? Let's understand with an example.I was habitual drinker of Coca cola in my young age. Whenever I got chance to drink a cold drink, I always ordered to shopkeeper for coca cola. That was spontaneous to me because my brain was habitual for that. This thing happens with many people for various habits. Some people prefer orange juice over other fruit juice. Some people always prefer apple over other fruits. So, our action or we can say, our choice is construction and pattern of our habits, our patterns. Our will (which is spontaneous) has been drive through such repeated information in our sub conscious mind. Do we have free will? or it's just mechanical outcome of our sub consciousness[/caption] Sure!! We are conscious human being and when it comes to choose different action from our habits we chose with a will we think are free. But the question is that really an action depends on our free will.I think partially its depend on our free will but mostly it is depend on how we look that action or will. Our conscious brain always calculates the risk and tracks all information about that action before executing. Any bitter experience and memory can put that action on hold. But at final stage, it is required other natural properties like ratio of taking risk, our passion for that action (if it attach to a passion) or our current physical and financial condition.We simply do not wish and start implementing. It is complex.Well, now there is concern that some ideas are result of outside moral force which has power of judgement and of inflicting repercussions. As we understand that free will is almost result of our understanding about world and the natural properties which we inherit. So, any action which we do within social framework has social implication. Every society has primitive understanding of world. This infinite net of primitive understanding of world and our collective experience from past is reflect in our current culture, social norms, social ideologies and rituals. Primitive understanding of natural phenomenon has created social ideas.it has no direct relationship to do with original philosophy.These social ideas are rigid and the power of judgement to any different idea comes from these social rigid ideologies and experience. The moral implication has no direct link with original philosophy but social peer pressure which follows the law of social majoritarianism.Yes, there is moral consequence of free will. But this consequence is not result of conflict with karmic theory but these moral consequences are result of contradiction with social framework which based on rigid idea. This rigid idea is result of collective social experience and understanding. These ideas have been promote and protect by religious institute in western religion while in Hinduism there is no protection for such rigid ideas. But as stated, due to decentralize system of religious knowledge such idea still exist in various shape and form in Indian society. I do not think that there is any contradiction and parallel fight with karma and free will here. I often observed that western scholars approach to Indian philosophy with western social theories and analytical tools. For understanding of Indian core belief and philosophy. They should understand that Indian society, Indian point of view and Indian philosophy cannot be analyse with the social theories which is developed for western societies.There was another concern that whether in Indian philosophy there any clear distinction between free will and what is not free?I have to agree with this question that there is no clear distinction because we have failed to defined free will. Whether or not humans have free will is a question that philosophers have debated for centuries, and they will likely continue to do so. Psychology can provide some insights into how free will—or at least a belief in its existence—might work, but beyond that, we likely cannot verify or invalidate its existence.There is third problem was with theory of karma which said "if you do good karma, the consequence will be good. A bad karma result bad consequence".I think this the toughest question to answer. writer says in that article"It is hard to see how some kind of natural karmic law could understand good and bad which are subjective to moral ideas that depend on the perspective of a personal agent, whether that person be a human being or God."First mistake which I found that this is utterly misunderstood concept that the karmic laws is idea based on a perspective of a person or God. The theory of karma is result of long time observation by many sages and their early understanding about people various condition. Second thing which is being conveyed by Indian philosophy that Nature itself an automatic mechanism, Humans are just part of this large mechanism. I am doubtful that these evidence is like mystical experience. I have few experiencing evidence and many millions people have few but it is not as applicable for all others who haven't experience it. All natural laws like karma (Dharmic action), Dharma (Righteous way of life) , Gyana  (self-Enlightenment) & Maya (Materialistic illusion) is very personal in nature. In physical world, a scientist spend his all life and invent something which can be used by every other being which is not involve into the studies of that invention. While In Laws of nature, Only a person can experience the natural power, self-enlightenment , materialistic illusion when he do his part of tapas (natural enlightenment).The question rises how we can achieve that enlightenment. Many suggest Yoga, wondering within nature, social works, spending time with Gurus and Swami. But I find it partial practices. The real enlightenment can be attend by Four methods explain in Bhagwat Gita.Karma yoga (a life with righteous action)Gyan yoga (A life which spend to studies nature and natural activities)Bhakti yoga (a life which involve deep devotion for anyone, your life partner, kids, any kind of God, communities)Raja Yoga (A life which is indulged into your profession which you do)Hinduism makes sure that everyone attends Moksha at last. We can have very different blog about this topic.Well, Karma is myth or not is very different question. I think, I am unable to answer that question in this blog. But I would like to have a short note over this. Writer wrote that"If God decides for that to happen on any particular occasion. There are no absolute laws of cause and effect outside the will of god".I would disagree with this statement for two reasons.First reason is that in all Hinduism scripture it stated that god and avatar (incarnation of god on earth) can have consequence (bad) of their moral actions (which was suitable for that different era). Let's take example from the Indian epics of India "Ramayana" and "Mahabharata"In Ramayana, Ram had friendship with sugreev ( a exiled monkey king). His brother bali (another powerful monkey king) had stolen the kingdom and sugreev wife from him. So he decided to take help of Lord Rama. But Bali had a boon that anyone who comes in front of him loose his half power to him. So Rama decided to kill him by hidden passage of trees. But when Lord ram, reincarnated as lord Krishana than Bali killed Krishana. Bali had taken rebirth as archer on era of Mahabharat. Lord Ram had been to face consequence of his action in another birth.Second reason thatO son of Prtha, there is no Karma prescribed for me within all the three planetary systems. Nor am I in want of anything, nor have I need to obtain anything—and yet I am engaged in karma. Chapter 3, Verse 22 .Here Lord Krishana describes how he is also bounded with laws of karma. These two example clearly describe that even god is bounded to these laws of nature. Natural laws are most powerful and govern universe.#smblogcontest
