Eight female led crime TV shows you must watch
 Smita Bhattacharya
 14 March 2018

I love, love, love watching crime shows and love more Nordic noir and the temperamental detective, where the moods are as erratic and dark as the plot. Here is a list of a few I watched over the last year which has strong female leads. A few of them are incredibly edge of the seat with a fantastic plot and cast to execute them. And thankfully, the women at the center are not seeking or falling in love with the nearest good-looking man as a respite from (and sometimes at the cost of) their detective duties. They are middle-aged with children or are single and unapologetic about it, much flawed and human, yet brilliant and unwavering in their goal. Check them out and let me know others. This genre, I wish, would grow in multitudes1.The Fall: Gillian Anderson returns to the small screen as Stella Gibson and how brilliant is she? We know both the hunted and the hunter in this slow, moody, psychological thriller and yet, the cat and mouse game is less than predictable. The plot: when a Belfast murder remains unsolved, Stella Gibson (Anderson) is brought in to catch the killer. DSI Gibson soon fears that a murder spree is underway in Belfast and a killer is on the loose. An equally brilliant Jamie Dornan plays serial killer Paul Spector whose identity is known within a few minutes of the first episode, but hey, watch it and tell me if that makes it any less exciting.2. The Killing: Who killed Rosie Larsen (and other questions answered). The Killing is based on the Danish television series Forbrydelsen (The Crime) and stars Detective Sarah Linden and her loyal love-to-hate-you-hate-to-love-you sidekick Stephen Holder (I admit, I fell a bit in love with the damaged piece that was him by the end of it). Each episode ends with a cliffhanger that points of a possible killer who doesn’t turn out to be the one in the next (but of course!). In essence, the show follows the investigation of the murder of local teenager Rosie Larsen but is intertwined with others: the police investigation into the murder, the Larsen family's attempts to deal with their grief, and the fluctuating electoral fortunes of a political campaign that becomes embroiled in the case.3. Happy Valley: Oh, how much do I LOVE BBC’s crime productions? There are five on this list (barring The Killing) and I say without hesitation they have mastered the art (or science or what have you). Happy Valley is set in the Calder Valley and Catherine Cawood (Sarah Lancashire) plays a strong-willed police sergeant, still coming to terms with the suicide of her daughter, Becky, eight years earlier. She is now bringing up Becky's young son, Ryan, the product of rape. Catherine hears that Tommy Lee Royce, the man responsible for the brutal rape that impregnated Becky and drove her to suicide shortly after Ryan was born, is out of prison after serving eight years for drug charges. Catherine becomes obsessed with finding Royce, unaware that he is involved in the kidnapping of a young girl—Ann Gallagher. Things get worse as the kidnappers try to hide their tracks and Catherine grows neurotically persistent.4. Vera: Based on the Vera Stanhope novels by bestselling author Ann Cleeves, Vera (starring Brenda Blethyn in the titular role) is an employee of the fictional Northumberland and City Police. She is obsessive about her work and driven by her own demons. She plods along in a constantly disheveled state but has a calculating mind, and despite her irascible personality, she cares deeply about her work and comrades (-- from Wikipedia). Everything about her screams motherly and cantankerous, yet she is a formidable force to watch. And you will grow very fond of her by the end of it.5. The Honourable Woman: Not a detective series this but I couldn’t help adding it to the list. THW is a political spy thriller which is so nail-bitingly good, you have to watch now. It features Maggie Gyllenhaal in the title role (isn’t that the new, happy trend: small screen revival projects for the out-of-work or fading big screen stars?). She won a Golden Globe for it. Totally deserved, may I add? Gyllenhaal plays Anglo-Jewish businesswoman Nessa Stein who eight years earlier became the new head of the Stein Group after her brother abruptly stepped down. As she continues her work to maintain the Middle East peace process, old secrets come to the fore and bodies pile up. The stakes are raised high when Kasim, the son of Atika, Nessa's friend as well as Ephram Stein's Palestinian housekeeper, is kidnapped.6. Top of the Lake: Okay, to be honest, this is not one of my favorites. I thought the plot fell a bit flat towards the end. But the characters and the settings are quirky and unique and the whimsical style of storytelling reasons enough to watch. The drama stars Elizabeth Moss (someone I admired in Mad Men and will, till the end of life, know as Peggy Olson). She plays Detective Robin Griffin, a Sydney police officer returning to her remote New Zealand hometown of Laketop, facing the crimes surrounding the pregnancy and disappearance of a local 12-year-old girl, Tui.7. Spiral (Engrenages): Another one to add to the list is the French BBC Drama - Spiral: Engrenages - broadcast on Canal+. It stars two powerful female characters: a quirky, obsessed, but brilliant female Police Captain Laure Berthaud, and a ruthless, corrupt and beautiful female lawyer Joséphine Karlsson, both caring less about the many feathers they ruffle. These female characters are primary to the plot and rarely was their gender invoked in relation to their job role or position of power. This feminist observation apart, the 12 part series is gripping: the characters etched out in great detail (I felt for each of them in their individual disasters and triumphs), their relationships and challenges realistic, and the three subplots cleverly executed and tied together. A minor quibble was the need to look at the subtitles constantly, but I swear by end of it I could speak a little bit of French myself.8. Marcella: Err... another British television crime noir detective series. Yeah, mea culpa, but I do like them so much! They are astonishingly atmospheric—a trait I look for in everything I read or watch—the cast and setting need to grow on me. The series stars Anna Friel as Marcella Backland, a former London detective who is asked to return to work to investigate an unsolved case from eleven years ago involving an unidentified serial killer who appears to have become active again. What I love best is she is un-coplike, almost vulnerable and thus, very relatable. Series 2 started airing in Feb, 2018 and I can’t wait for it to come to Netflix.Homeland and House of Cards are the other two wildly popular series with strong female leads. Might I also dare add Game of Thrones season 6? Finally, we have women sailing to conquer worlds and play both the hero and the villain. We have come a long way.But you know what else I wish for now? That the victims of these murders are not women! YES, let’s write a book or make a TV series where the victims of the serial killer is not a WOMAN? Yes, yes, please? I know, we make a pretty picture no matter what, but let’s not have any more cowering and whimpering. Just for a change.About the writer: Smita Bhattacharya is an author based out of Mumbai. She has a particular soft spot for psychological thriller novels and TV series. Her latest novel, Dead to Them, was released in January 2018 and is currently garnering rave reviews.  Manmohan Singh
 27 May 2019

Apart from many physical benefits, trekking also helps you in improving the mental as well as psychological health. To know more read the following article. In the last few years trekking in India has witnessed a huge surge in its popularity. And this led to the importance of distinct trekking tours in India such as trekking in Ladakh, Triund, Parashar Lake, etc. Though people have been following it as a trend there are multiple health benefits associated with it as well. It is easy to guess the physical benefits that include improved heart health, effective breathing, stamina, strength, etc. But there are psychological and mental benefits as well that boosts the self-confidence of an individual.Let’s examine how trekking boost self-confidence:Relieves stress: Hectic meetings, deadlines, performance, etc. all these burden the mind with stress which is the source of various health issues. Trekking, on the other hand, distracts the mind from a chaotic lifestyle and gives you space to breathe. For example, trekking in Nepal in amidst of the Himalayas helps you forget the stress and allures you towards the beauty of mountains. This releases endorphins responsible for relieving stress in the body and mind and ultimately makes you happy.Improves outlook: Negativity, unwillingness, anxiety, etc. often blocks the mind and doesn’t let you focus on the work. Whereas, trekking gives you the opportunity to drift these negativities away and focus on the necessary things. You may be trekking in hills, valleys, beaches, forests, etc. it helps you focus on the details of the environment which changes your outlook. It replaces negativity with positivity and feeds energy to the mind and body.Detoxifies digitally: Being digitally active all the time is another way that blocks the thinking capability of the mind and affects the nervous system. Going on a trek helps you detoxify digitally. It reconnects you with nature and brings awareness to the mind as well as body. This enhances the performance at work, communication skills and teaches compassion towards self and others.Strategic planning: Trekking is the most uncertain experience therefore it introduces you to the challenges that may come in the way. It helps you understand the challenges that may come, how to combat and ultimately win over them. As you gain experience, it helps you plan strategically for the trek as well as for life. Moreover, it helps in building managerial skills such as leadership, strategy management, resource planning, etc. To challenge your managerial skills trekking in Ladakh is the best trek route in India.Builds social circle: There can be a possibility that you are good at work but shy to build relations at work. Trekking helps you connect with people from around the globe to share thoughts and express yourself. You may either trek alone and be friends with a bunch of unknown trekkers and make connections for life. You may also trek with your colleagues, friends, family, etc. You will be benefited either way.Develops spirituality: Not many people can remember the last time they peek into their spiritual souls. The struggle between your personal and social life restricts you for the same. But if you are trekking in India, it isn’t that difficult to connect with the spiritual self. The river bank of the holy river Ganga, temples in India, trekking to the religious destinations helps you discover the spiritual self.Enhances efficiency: Since stress is relieved, the outlook is improved, digitally detoxified, strategic planning is improved, etc. All these eventually have positive effects on performance at work. Trekking helps you focus and concentrate on things for longer, sharpen your abilities and skills and helps you rediscover yourself. This enhances efficiency at work or at home. All the above-mentioned reasons shape the overall personality of an individual and hence, boost the self-confidence.

Bhagavad Gita Verse 2.55
 Dhwani Shah
 20 August 2019

Pure Consciousness - In Gita Verse 2.55 The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: O Pārtha, when a man gives up all varieties of desire for sense gratification, which arise from mental concoction, and when his mind, thus purified, finds satisfaction in the self alone, then he is said to be in pure transcendental consciousness.Krishna says very specifically that never imitate. The mind is an imitator, because imitation is very easy. To be someone is very difficult. To become someone is very easy - all that you need is to be a hypocrite, which is not much of a problem. Deep down you remain the same, but on the surface you go on painting yourself according to some image. If you try to become a buddha, one thing is certain - you will not be able to become yourself. One thing only is certain - that you will not be yourself. And then follows the next thing: you can never be a buddha, because you are you and a buddha is buddha. If you try to become a buddha, you cannot be a buddha; at the most you can be an imitation - a plastic flower, not a real rose.Mind wants to imitate, as if in imitation it is secure, no effort to be self-alert. Self-alertness means dropping the mind and coming back to your own home, who you are. This is transcendance.Remember always that whatsoever is happening around you is rooted in the mind. Mind is always the cause. It is the projector, and outside there are only screens – you project yourself. If you feel it is ugly then change the mind. If you feel whatsoever comes from the mind is hellish and nightmarish, then drop the mind. Work with the mind, don’t work with the screen; don’t go on painting it and changing it. Work with the mind. But there is one problem, because you think you are the mind. So how can you drop it? So you feel you can drop everything, change everything, repaint, redecorate, rearrange, but how can you drop yourself. That is the root of all trouble. You are not the mind, you are beyond mind. You have become identified, that’s true, but you are not the mind. And this is the purpose of meditation: to give you small glimpses that you are not the mind. If even for a few moments the mind stops, you are still there! On the contrary, you are more, overflowing with being. When the mind stops it is as if a drainage which was continuously draining you has stopped. Suddenly you are overflowing with energy. You feel more!If even for a single moment you become aware that the mind is not there but “I am,” you have reached a deep core of truth. Then it will be easy to drop the mind. You are not the mind, otherwise how can you drop yourself? The identification has to be dropped first, then the mind can be dropped. When all identity with the mind is dropped, when you are a watcher on the hills and the mind is left deep down in the darkness of the valleys, when you are on the sunlit peaks, just a pure witness, seeing, watching, but not getting identified with anything – good or bad, sinner or saint, this or that – in that witnessing all questions dissolve. The mind melts, evaporates. You are left as a pure being, just a pure existence – a breathing, a beating of the heart, utterly in the moment, no past, no future, hence no present either.Krishna says - Mind is illusory – that which is not but appears to be, and appears so much that you think that you are the mind. Mind is maya, mind is just a dream, mind is just a projection…a soap bubble – nothing in it, but it appears like a soap bubble floating on a river. The sun is just rising, the rays penetrate the bubble; a rainbow is created and nothing is there in it. When you touch the bubble it is broken and everything disappears – the rainbow, the beauty – nothing is left. Only emptiness becomes one with the infinite emptiness. Just a wall was there, a bubble wall. Your mind is just a bubble wall – inside, your emptiness; outside, my emptiness. It is just a bubble: prick it, and the mind disappears. - This self emptiness is pure transcendental consciousness.

Bhagavad Gita Verse 2.60
 Dhwani Shah
 25 August 2019

Total Aliveness - In Gita Verse 2.60 The senses are so strong and impetuous, O Arjuna, that they forcibly carry away the mind even of a man of discrimination who is endeavoring to control them.Krishna talks that how we are living in objective world is simply using our impulsive mind which is not allowing you to use your own intelligence, you will be anxious and hyper, you will lose your discrimination to be self-alert. Unless you are self-alert your action cannot be in alignment with the divine.Your truth can be alive only if it comes through alertness, not through precepts and principles. Each moment, you have to be alert in order to be true. Truth is not a principle; it is something born out of your alertness. Non-violence is not a principle; if you are mindful, you cannot be violent. But, that is difficult. You have to transform yourself. It is easy to live according to principles, rules and regulations. Then you need not worry about being more alert and aware; you can follow the principles. Then you are just like a railway train running on the tracks. Those tracks are your principles. You are not afraid because you cannot miss the path. Really, you don't have any path; you have just iron rails on which your train is running. You will reach the destination, you need not be afraid. You will be asleep and the train will reach it. It is running on dead paths. But, practice says that life is not like that, it is more like a river. It is not running on iron rails. The path has not even been charted before. As the river flows, the path is created. The river will reach the sea, and this is how life should be. Life is like a river. There is no precharted way; there are no maps to be given to you which are to be followed. Just be alive and alert, and then, wherever life leads, you go with full confidence in it. Trust in the life force. Allow it to lead you towards the sea.Just be alert, that is all. While life leads you towards the sea, just be alert so that you don't miss anything. If you are alert, this life will be bliss. The very movement of the river is bliss in itself. Passing through the valleys, through the rocks, falling down from the hills, moving into the unknown is itself bliss. The river is not simply going to meet the sea, it is "growing" to be the sea, and this is possible only through rich experience, alert experiences, moving, trusting. This is the human search. Of course, it is dangerous. If rivers could be run through predetermined paths, there would be less danger, fewer errors. But the whole beauty of aliveness would be lost.Krishna tells Arjuna when you are passing through all your circumstances move with total awareness. If you will move in self-awareness you will not become impulsive, anxious, hyper etc. Instead of that your act will be the result of your silence. When you act from your silence means God is acting through your body.Remember, God has no voice except silence. He never says anything. There is nothing to say; there is no verbal communication. But that silence, that utter silence, gives you clarity, gives you light and makes you capable of moving rightly. Not that it gives any directions, not that it gives you any maps, not that it supplies you any guides – nothing of the sort. It simply gives you eyes to see your path. And then you start moving in life with eyes. Ordinarily you are moving blind. A blind man needs guides , a blind man needs voices , a blind man needs maps. A man who has eyes needs nothing.God comes to you as silence. God IS silence. Remember it: only trust silence and nothing else – otherwise you will get trapped by the mind again and again. And to be trapped by the mind is to be in misery. To be free of the misery is to know what bliss is, is to know what benediction is.So, Krishna says to Arjuna become self-aware and move like a river, which has no predetermined path, but trust and self-awareness to merge into the ocean. In your total aliveness, alertness you will be able to fight the war.

Bhagavad Gita Verse 3.7
 Dhwani Shah
 13 September 2019

Karma Yoga - In Gita Verse 3.7 On the other hand, if a sincere person tries to control the active senses by the mind and begins karma-yoga without attachment, he is by far superior.Krishna here gave distinction of Karma Yoga. In Bhagavad Gita Verse 3.3, Krishna explain us Gyan Yoga and Bhakti Yoga. In this verse he speaks regarding Karma Yoga. Till we are alive in the body, our body will act, there will be action through our body. But when we act, from where our actions come, that makes the whole difference.Just recollect moment in your life when you are angry your action is anger, when you are loving your action is loving, affectionate, if you replay your this incidence again and again you will realize that you were unconscious when your anger or love emotion was present in your action. You were self-unconscious. Even if you realize such a small thing you will find certain space is opening in you, which is you may name as empty like canvas. But like in our education unless we were introduced ‘A’ we will not know the ‘A’, the same way this empty space is who we are, not introduce to us. So we are unknown and ignorant towards self. Many times during the day we come across this space but because we have not got proper education to recognize ourselves we are unknown to this. Krishna says unless you act from this empty space, which has got no judgements, emotions, thinking, your act cannot come from non-attachment. This empty space is our subjectivity, our soul. We are ignorant regarding our empty space as all the religion has taught us scriptures but not introduce us this space, which is Who We Are.What Krishna says you don’t have choice for action but you have a choice whether you want to act from your unconsciousness or consciousness, your attachments or non-attachments. If your actions are from non-attachment then you are liberated. To Karma Yoga, Sufis call it “the watcher on the hills.” The valleys go on changing but the watcher remains on the top of the hill. Sometimes the valley is dark and sometimes the valley is light and sometimes there is dancing and singing and sometimes there is weeping and crying – and the watcher sits on the hill-top and just goes on watching.By and by the content of consciousness does not matter only consciousness becomes significant. That is the essential foundation of all true religion. And this is the understanding of the Sufis. There are four ways to approach truth, to be connected with truth. The first is known in the East as karma yoga – the way of action. Man has three dimensions in him: action, knowing, feeling. So three ways use these three directions: action, knowing, feeling. You can act, and you can act with total absorption, and you can offer your act to God. You can act without becoming a doer. That is the first way – karma yoga: being in action without being a doer. You let God do. You let God be in you. You efface yourself. In this, the path of action, consciousness changes the content. These two things have to be understood: consciousness and content. This is all that your life consists of. There is something which is the knower in you and something which is the known. For example, you are listening to music. Now two things are there: whatsoever music plays will be the content, and whatsoever you are inside, listening, watching, that is the consciousness. You are looking at instruments, through which music is played. Then instrument in your eyes is the content and you, who are looking at that instrument in the eye, are consciousness – the object and the subject. On the path of action, consciousness changes the content That is what action is. You see a rock. Somebody may stumble upon it – because it is getting dark, night is falling. so you remove the rock from the path. This is action. What have you done? Consciousness has changed the content. On the path of action, content is important and has to be changed. If somebody is ill and you go and serve him and you give him medicine, you are changing the content. If somebody has fallen in the river and is drowning, you jump in and you save him from drowning. You have changed the content.Action is content-directed. Action is will – something has to be done. Of course, if the will remains ego-oriented, then you will not be religious. You will be a great doer, but not religious. And your path will be of action but not towards God. When you allow God to become your will, when you say, “Let thy will be mine,” when you surrender your will to the feet of god and his will starts flowing through you, then it is the path of action – karma yoga. The goal of karma yoga is freedom, moksha – to change the contents so much that nothing antagonistic is left there, nothing harmful is left there; to change the content according to your heart’s desire, so that you can be free of limitations. This is the path of Jainism, yoga, and all action-oriented philosophies.Krishna tells Arjuna that you will be librearated if you do your part of action align with the universal will, God’s will, your act will be non-attached. So just focus on your assignment of the Universe, Fight Without Enmity.

Breathe Green Plug N’ Pure Odor Eliminator Real Energy
 John Peter

The stagnant economy has reduced demand for gasoline, diesel and electricity. People drove less, bought less items and, as a result, consumed less energy. Greenhouse gas production - carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and fluorinated gases - peaked at 2.752 billion tonnes in 2007, falling to 6.608 billion in 2009, before a strong "recovery" of 6.821 billion in 2010. Was available last year. Number of Breathe Green Plug N’ Pure Odor Eliminator. These and other exciting facts can be found in the US Environmental Protection Agency's 2012 GHG Inventory. While it may seem encouraging, a fierce glance shows that consumers, businesses and the United States government have still proven to be overwhelmingly hungry for fossil fuels.Bad wind to get upCombustion of fossil fuels only increased greenhouse gas production (such as cars and electricity) in 2010 to 5.388 billion tonnes, up 13.7 percent from 1990. The culprit? Electricity production accounted for 34 percent, transport for 27 percent and industry for 20 percent. The rest comes from agricultural, commercial, residential and other sources. For the simplified approach, average cars produce 5.2 metric tons of greenhouse gas each year. This detail is not good. In addition to the irony of heaven, the EPA decided in 2009 that greenhouse gases were the main cause of climate change. It causes, among other things, high temperatures and prolonged heat waves, which endanger American health. The increase in ground-level ozone pollution caused by chemical reactions between NOx and VOCs is associated with asthma and other respiratory diseases.Expectations in the 1960sInformation is not new. The forecast can be found in the original Broadway record "Hair." The song "Vayu" is now as real as it was at the time: "Welcome to sulfur dioxide, welcome to carbon monoxide. Air, air is everywhere. Breathe deeply, breathe deeply while you sleep with Breathe Green Plug N’ Pure Odor Eliminator." And so on. The words are finally shaken to me by my first record. It is strange to think of the Broadway movie "Hair: The American Tribal Love and Rock Musical" coming out in October 1967. Looks like it was yesterday. I joke Seriously, I tried to fit in with my boyfriend Calvin's art, which is now my first year at Seattle University and is interested in sounds.Reason for helpThe biggest plan is to think about them in the air. Facts and figures don't do much to inspire most people, but add an effective story of how it affects someone, and interest can be increased geometrically. This is what we found out in newspaper work. A good photo, an amazing story that people can call and writers and photographers can fill a place in the city council. But I am no longer a journalist and I will never appear in newspapers. Nevertheless, the axiom holds. I'm very attentive to what the San Joaquin Valley can relate to: On hot sunny days, the depths of summer often seem to be covered with a thin layer of soil. Sierra's views of cities and valley farms that were once crystalline and alive are not there. And the air tastes like dirt. The solution is clear. We should reduce the country's greenhouse gas production. It is better not to think of an opportunity. Of course, we may experience macroeconomic collapse. For example, Spain has reported unemployment, which accounts for a quarter of its workforce. This is one way. But hardly optimal. One building at a timeA different approach has been adopted by many colleges, government agencies and private sector organizations. This includes reducing the climate footprint. This can be done relatively painlessly through policies such as retrofitting buildings, policies such as measuring energy consumption and reducing water and waste, and promoting electricity.California Governor Jerry Brown has stepped down in issuing an executive order requiring government agencies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 10 percent by 2015 and 20 percent by 2020. All the new government buildings and major renovations were completed after a year. Built to meet 2025 requirements and zero net capability. This means that they produce as much energy as they consume Breathe Green Plug N’ Pure Odor Eliminator.Brown's order also states that by 2020, half of new installations should meet net zero requirements and national agencies should comply if half have their existing installations. This includes reducing water consumption, plugging in electric vehicles and other changes."All we need is new laws to deal with the growing threat of global warming. We should lead by example," Brown said in a statement. "The destruction of public buildings will reduce our environmental footprint and save taxpayers millions of dollars."

Bhagavad Gita Verse 6.16
 Dhwani Shah
 15 January 2020

Extremist - In Gita Verse 6.16 There is no possibility of one’s becoming a yogī, O Arjuna, if one eats too much or eats too little, sleeps too much or does not sleep enough.Krishna says that the person who is extremist or masochist cannot become yogi.In my Bhagavad Gita Verse 2.61, I wrote how Masochists have converted Austerity into Self-Torture. In this verse I will be writing on Extremist. The real man is completely without any attitude. It is very easy if you have been a pessimist for long: one day you realize that you are unnecessarily being unhappy, miserable, so you change the role. You slip into the role of an optimist. But now you have moved from one extreme to the other.Through the example of rosebush let me explain to you how everything is joined together. Then we will have understanding of there is no need to move on the extreme, but to go beyond. The rosebush is both the thorn and the rose; they are both joined together. They are not against, they are not enemies. In fact the thorns protect the flower. They are part of the whole organic being of the rosebush. And so is life. Good and bad are joined together; sinners and saints are joined together; birth and death are joined together. A real understanding happens when you have understood this, this polarity. And by understanding it, you have gone beyond it. Then you become tranquil – because there is nothing to be happy about and there is nothing to be unhappy about. What Krishna says that extremists are the people who will be moving from one extreme to another. This kind of people they cannot turn towards themselves, towards meditation. The real man is completely without any attitude - they accept everything, they don’t go towards any extreme, they go beyond.Remember, if you are happy, somewhere deep in the unconscious you are still carrying the possibility of unhappiness, because you can be happy only if you can be unhappy. Both possibilities exist together. They cannot be separated, they are two aspects of the same coin. So if you throw away one aspect, the other is also thrown. If you keep one aspect the other is also kept. If you become a pessimist in the conscious mind, you will be an optimist in the unconscious. If you are an optimist in the conscious mind, you will be a pessimist in the unconscious. One can become yogi only if he is ready to throw away both the possibility and ready to live in the middle. Who knew from his own experience happiness, unhappiness, exist together. What Krishna is saying - Once you understand this subtle mechanism, that mind tends to be always moving towards extremes, you stop cooperating with the mind. Pessimist or an optimist, both are within the mind, and the real man of understanding is beyond it.Every man is born with both possibilities. Unless he goes beyond it; and see the futility of both. Then only you will know what silence is: it is the complete absence of duality. So please avoid being extremists. Excess should always be avoided, because excess is the root of all untruth. In fact, there are no lies in the world, only half-truths and truth. All half-truths are lies; and the truth is not half, it is whole. The mind tends to be always moving towards the extreme – so you are moving towards the height, then you are moving towards the valley, going up then coming down. Like a yo-yo you go on, and you never become aware that both are useless. Like a pendulum of an old clock you move from one extreme to another. Once the pendulum stops in the middle, the clock stops. Once you stop in the middle, time disappears. Then you are no more part of this world. The clock stops…then you are part of eternity. Watch the pendulum moving from left to right, from right to left. A very strange thing is happening. When the pendulum is going to the right, you see it as going to the right.Ask the mechanic: he will say that when the pendulum is going to the right it is gaining momentum to go to the left; when it is going to the left it is gaining momentum to go to the right. So when you are unhappy, you are gaining momentum to be happy. When you are happy, you are gaining momentum to be unhappy. When you are loving you are gaining momentum to be hateful, and when you are hateful you are gaining momentum to be loving.Once you understand this subtle mechanism, that mind tends to be always moving towards extremes, you stop cooperating with the mind. Pessimist or an optimist, both are within the mind, and the real man of understanding is beyond it.

sri govardhana

namaste girirajaya sri govardhana namineashesha klesha nashaya paramananda dayineI offer my respectful obeisances unto the king of all hills, Govardhana Hill (the source of enjoyment for the senses, land, and cows). He is a servant of Krsna and is Krsna Himself. He puts an end to unlimited sufferings and bestows the supreme bliss. All glories to the magnificent Govardhan Hill, the celebrated crown of Sri Vrajamandal and the receptacle of great respect and admiration from all the Vrajavasis. By providing fresh grass for the cows to graze, clean and refreshing waters in its lakes and rivers, delicious fruits, fragrant flowers, multicoloured mineral pigments and sweet honey, Govardhan serves the Lord and all his associates very expertly. Sri Krishna performed numerous transcendental pastimes in the caves, on the hilltops, at the banks of the lakes and in the valleys of this blessed mountain. Beautiful pastimes like breaking the pride of Indra, danakeli, the lila at Kusum sarovar and many other such sweet pastimes were performed by Shyamsundar in Govardhan. It is at the base of this great mountain that the best of all holy places, Sri Radhaund, dearer to Sri Krishna than his very life, is present. Here, the divine couple perform innumerable amorous pastimes in the company of their dear Gopi friends, far away from the prying eyes of Jatila and Kutila. The glories of Sri Govardhan are indeed unfathomable for he has been glorified by Srimati Radhika herself as Hari dasya varya, the best among the devotees of Sri Hari. Being thus established as the best of devotees, he is fully capable of bestowing the greatest benediction of Krishna prem upon all surrendered souls, thus putting an end to the material miseries and unlimited sufferings experienced by the living entities. We therefore pay our humble obeisances at his lotus feet and pray for his causeless mercy. The pure devotees of the Lord are so magnanimous, that their mere remembrance is all purifying and can bestow all auspiciousness.

Bhagavad Gita Verse 7.5
 Dhwani Shah
 17 February 2020

A Knack - In Gita Verse 7.5 Besides these, O mighty-armed Arjuna, there is another, superior energy of Mine, which comprises the living entities who are exploiting the resources of this material, inferior nature.Krishna says that when all the eight constitute if you live through your watchfulness and alertness then you will be able to witness everything. In that witnessing you experience Universe or Me as superior. Now let’s understand our journey of watchfulness to witnessing. While watching you may get identified. Once you become familiar and having knack of watching then your watching will move towards witnessing.Just be, and watch. Being is not doing, and watching is also not doing. You sit silently doing nothing, witnessing whatsoever is happening. Thoughts will be moving in your mind; your body may be feeling some tension somewhere, you may have a migraine. Just be a witness. Don’t be identified with it. Watch, be a watcher on the hills, and everything else is happening in the valley. It is a knack, not an art.Witnessing is not a science. It is not an art, it is a knack – just that way. All that you need is a little patience. The old habits will continue; the thoughts will go on rushing. And your mind is always in a rush hour, the traffic is always jammed. Your body is not accustomed to sitting silently – you will be tossing and turning. Nothing to be worried about. Just watch that the body is tossing and turning, that the mind is whirling, is full of thoughts – consistent, inconsistent, useless – fantasies, dreams. You remain in the center, just watching. All the religions of the world have taught people to do something: stop the process of thought, force the body into a still posture. That’s what yoga is – a long practice of forcing the body to be still. But a forced body is not still. And all the prayers, concentrations, contemplations of all the religions do the same with the mind: they force it, they don’t allow the thoughts to move. Yes, you have the capacity to do it. And if you persist you may be able to stop the thought process. But this is not the real thing, it is absolutely fake. When stillness comes on its own, when silence descends without your effort, when you watch thoughts and a moment comes when thoughts start disappearing and silence starts happening, that is beautiful. The thoughts stop of their own accord if you don’t identify, if you remain a witness and you don’t say, “This is my thought.”You don’t say, “This is bad, this is good,” “This should be there….” and “This should not be there….” Then you are not a watcher; you have prejudices, you have certain attitudes. A watcher has no prejudice, he has no judgment. He simply sees like a mirror. He just witness everything. When you bring something in front of a mirror it reflects, simply reflects. There is no judgment that the man is ugly, that the man is beautiful, that, “Aha! What a good nose you have got.” The mirror has nothing to say. Its nature is to mirror; it mirrors. This is Witnessing: you simply mirror everything within or without.Just watching patiently – maybe a few days will pass, maybe a few months, maybe a few years. There is no way of saying because each individual has a different collection. You must have seen people collecting antiques, postal stamps. Everybody has a different collection; the quantity may be different, hence the time it takes will be different – but go on remaining a witness as much as you can. And this meditation needs no special time. You can wash the floor and remain silently witness yourself washing the floor.I can move my hand unconsciously, without watching, or I can move it with full awareness. And there is a qualitative difference. When you move it unconsciously it is mechanical. When you move it with consciousness there is grace, life. Even in the hand, which is part of your body, you will feel silence, coolness – what to say about the mind? With your watching and watching, slowly the rush of thoughts starts getting less and less. Moments of silence start appearing; a thought comes, and then there is silence before another thought appears. These gaps will give you the first glimpse of meditation and the first joy that you are arriving home.Soon the gaps will be bigger, and finally, the gap is always with you. You may be doing something, the silence is there. You may not be doing anything, the silence is there. Even in sleep, the silence is there.Krishna says when you feel such silence, in that silence, in that gap you will know everything as a whole, not as eight constitute. At the same time as we cannot start our education from end we need to start from alphabet, same is the case when we start our inner journey for which first step will be realizing our unconsciousness. So initially we will go through all the eight constitute as different but when we become Witnessing Consciousness we realized everything as whole like seed and tree not different but as a whole. This experience cannot be said by the words but through our actions only.

Bhagavad Gita Verse 7.21
 Dhwani Shah
 4 March 2020

Surrender Itself - In Gita Verse 7.21 I am in everyone’s heart as the Supersoul. As soon as one desires to worship some demigod, I make his faith steady so that he can devote himself to that particular deity.Krishna is so compassionate with everyone. He says that even for the desire you go to any deity he will help us to surrender to that deity. It is not the question of to whom you surrender it’s the question of whether you surrender or not? Even if you surrender to any false Guru, Deity doesn’t matter. It’s question of your surrendering.WHATSOEVER YOU HAVE DONE TO YOUR LIFE, BE AWARE OF IT. That very awareness will help you one day to throw it all, and to surrender. And remember that you will be transformed not by surrender to a particular Master, but by surrender itself. So the Master is irrelevant, he is not the point. People go on coming to master and they say, “I want to surrender, but to whom?” That is not the point, you are missing the point; it is not a question of to whom. SURRENDERING HELPS, NOT THE PERSON YOU HAVE SURRENDERED TO. He may not be there, or he may not be authentic; he may not be an enlightened one, or he may just be a rogue; that is not the point, that is irrelevant! YOU HAVE SURRENDERED - THAT HELPS BECAUSE NOW YOU ARE VULNERABLE, OPEN. You have become feminine. The male ego is lost, and you have become a feminine womb.THE PERSON YOU HAVE SURRENDERED TO MAY BE BOGUS, OR HE MAY NOT BE. That is not the point! You have surrendered, now something can happen to you. And many times it has happened that EVEN WITH A FALSE MASTER, DISCIPLES HAVE BECOME ENLIGHTENED. You may be surprised: even with a false master, disciples have become enlightened!IT IS REPORTED OF MILAREPA that he went to a teacher, he surrendered. Milarepa was a very faithful man, very trusting. So when the teacher said, “You will have to surrender to me, only then I can help,” he said, “Okay, I surrender.”BUT MANY PERSONS WERE JEALOUS. The old followers of that Master were jealous of Milarepa, because Milarepa was a different type of man, a very magnetic force. THEY BECAME AFRAID that if this man remains here, that he will become the chief disciple, he will become the next guru. So they said to their teacher that, “This man seems to be false, so first check it whether his surrender is real.”The Master said, “How should we examine him?" They said, "TELL HIM TO JUMP FROM THIS HILL” - they were sitting on a hill.So the Master said, “Milarepa, if you have really surrendered, jump from the hill.” So he did not wait even to say yes - HE JUMPED!The disciples thought he will be dead. Then they went down, it took hours for them to go to the valley. AND HE WAS JUST SITTING UNDER A TREE MEDITATING, and he was happy - as happy as he had never been.So they gathered, and the disciples thought it must be a coincidence. THE MASTER WAS ALSO SURPRISED. How this could happen? So he asked Milarepa privately, “What you did? How it could happen?”Milarepa said, “When I surrendered, there was no question of MY doing, YOU have done something.”THE MASTER KNEW WELL THAT HE HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING, so he tried again... ONE HOUSE WAS ON FIRE, so he told Milarepa to go in and sit there, and when the whole house has become ashes, then only come out. Milarepa went in, he stayed there for hours. Then the house was just ashes.WHEN THEY REACHED THERE, HE WAS JUST BURIED IN THE ASHES - but as alive and as blissful as ever. And Milarepa touched his Master's feet and said, “You are doing miracles!”So the Master said, “But it is difficult to think that it is again a coincidence.” But the followers said, “This is nothing but a coincidence. Try again, at least three trials are needed.”So they were passing through a village. The Master said, “Milarepa, the boat has not come yet, and the ferryman has not kept the promise, so you go - WALK ON THE WATERS, GO TO THE OTHER BANK AND TELL THE FERRYMAN TO COME.” So Milarepa walked. Then the Master really thought it is a miracle - he walked and went to the other bank, and then brought the ferry. The Master said, “Milarepa, how are you doing it?”He said, “I just take your name and go on. It is your name, Master, that helps me.” So the Master thought, “If my name helps so much…” He tried to walk on the water also, and drowned! And no one has ever heard again about him.How it happened? SURRENDER IS THE THING - NOT THE MASTER, not the thing to which you surrender. The statue, the temple, the tree, the stone - anything will do. IF YOU SURRENDER, you become vulnerable to the existence. And then the whole existence takes you into its arms.So this story may be just a parable, but the meaning is that WHEN YOU SURRENDER, THE WHOLE EXISTENCE IS FOR YOU. The fire, the hill, the river, the valley - nothing is against you - because you are not against anything, the enmity is lost.If you fall from a hill and your bones are broken, IT IS THE BONES OF YOUR EGO. You were resisting; you didn't allow the valley to help you, you were helping yourself. You were thinking yourself more wise than the existence. Surrender means you come to realize that whatsoever you do will be stupid, foolish. And you have done for many lives, many stupid things.YOU LEAVE IT TO THE EXISTENCE ITSELF. YOU cannot do anything!Krishna says that when the person devote himself to that particular deity, he realizes that he is helpless. This realization that “I am helpless” helps the surrender to happen.

The K2 base camp trek in Pakistan is one of the extraordinary climbs on earth. Trekkers follow a rough path that breezes up the strong Baltoro Glacier, going through a titanic amphitheater of sky-scratching summits – remembering seven of the 19 most noteworthy mountains for the planet – in transit to the base of the world's second most noteworthy pinnacle. Here's all that you have to think about climbing to K2 base camp. You can embark on the journey of K2 after reaching Islamabad through Serene Air online booking. The Introduction of Karakorum The terrific Karakoram piles of Pakistan are home to probably the most out of control scenes on Earth. And keeping in mind that tides of enthusiastic walkers flood the path of Nepal, Pakistan gets only a stream of trekkers in examination. Be that as it may, the Greater Ranges of Asia don't recognize outskirts and keeping in mind that the exemplary Himalayan courses of Everest and Annapurna may take the spotlight, the Karakoram trails of northern Pakistan are no less superb. K2: The Crown of Karakorum The crown of the Karakoram is K2. At 8,611m (28,251ft) it is the world's second most noteworthy mountain and an undertaking to its base camp at 5,150m (16,896ft) makes for one of the most energizing strolls on the planet. Starting in the remote town of Askole, the path winds its way along the excellent Braldu Valley before mounting the Baltoro Glacier to Concordia. Situated 12km from K2, Concordia is one of only a handful hardly any spots on Earth where it's conceivable to see four 8,000m tops from one spot: K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I and Gasherbrum II. For What Reason Is It the Best Time for Trekking? In 2018, Pakistan's executive Imran Khan featured the travel industry as one of his primary targets after his political race. The year 2019 saw the dispatch of another e-visa framework and unwinding of visa limitations for more than 50 nations. In the interim, British Airways turned into the principal European aircraft to continue non-stop flights to Islamabad, the nearest worldwide air terminal to the Karakoram. As an extra lift, a visit from the British Royal family has drawn the consideration of the world's media to Pakistan. The Number of Visitors Has Climbed Vacationer numbers have started to climb, yet warily. The quantity of trekkers enlisting to enter the Central Karakoram National Park rose by half from 2018 to 2019, but to just 1,300 altogether. It merits recollecting that more than 30,000 individuals make the Everest base camp trek each year. In that capacity, trekkers in Pakistan can hope to discover tranquil and un-crowded path all through the season. Trekking to K2 Base Camp The K2 base camp trek takes 14 days altogether (all over), and begins in the town of Askole. When away from this little green desert spring, the relentless Karakoram doesn't take long to uncover its magnificence. Serrated summits and transcending precipices back up either side of the wide valleys. Before the finish of the main day trekkers are stayed outdoors underneath the unmistakable pinnacle of Bakhor Das, lovingly alluded to as Mango Peak because of its inquisitively molded summit cone. To get cheap flight tickets, you need to book the tickets in advance. Down to Earth Information Distance: The trek takes around 14 days altogether and, while no expert gear is required, climbers ought to be fit and sound and have handled in any event one high-height move previously. Moreover, selecting to handle the Gondogoro La pass requires some fundamental rope work and the utilization of an ice hatchet. Camping: The main convenience accessible all through the trek is exploring the great outdoors. Tents are two-man issues so solo explorers ought to hope to share. Campgrounds are pitched either on rock, ice or both, so make a point to pack a thick, warm outdoors sleeping cushion. It ought to likewise be noticed that most campgrounds don't have latrine offices so plan to do your business in nature. Equipment: It is basic for doormen to convey your own apparatus. In any case, this all relies to a great extent upon the degree of administration you pay for. The more costly outfits give seats, eating table, can tent and full porterage. Less expensive outfits expect customers to convey a few or the entirety of their own apparatus and forego different extravagances. Terrain: The territory is definitely more testing than the very much trodden trails of Nepal. On the Baltoro Glacier trails are continually changing as the ice movements and precipices open up, so a level of cross-country strolling is not out of the ordinary. It's likewise not strange for streams to expand to exorbitant levels or wash away footbridges, so be set up to consider making the plunge. Now, you are all set to hit the thrilling terrain of K2. If you have any questions regarding your journey, you can ask in the comments section below.
