The Timeless Link Between Writing and Running and Why It Makes for Better Work
 Suchismita Sahu
 26 February 2018

There is a lot of mythology about a writer’s life and routine, and very little of it is true. It’s one reason why that famous misquote from Hemingway is so popular, “There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.”If Hemingway ever did say such a thing, his meticulously edited, and ironically, handwritten manuscript pages at the John F. Kennedy Library speak much more loudly. There are some 47 alternative endings for Hemingway’sA Farewell To Arms, written by his hand alone. Hemingway rewrote the first part of the book, by his own count, more than 50 times.In truth, like many ventures, writing is a long hard slog. It’s more akin to a marathon of effort than a sprint of inspiration. Not that writing is a miserable profession. It isn’t. If one learns to cope with it properly, it’s quite wonderful and any who gets to do it for a living is blessed. But the coping is key. For many writers, that coping comes in a form rather appropriate to the analogy I gave above: Writers cope with writing by running. My routine goes something like this: After the hectic office hour, I begin to slow down and eventually become stuck. Accepting that any more time spent would be throwing good effort after bad, I change, put on my running shoes, and go for a run.Depending on whether I’m writing from my home or my office, my run will be one of a few prescribed courses. I run because I love it. Because it’s good exercise. It’s the only exercise I’ve ever really been good at.. But I run for another reason, the same reason that many writers apparently run: it makes me better at my job. There are many writers who run. Of course, there is Murakami, who in addition to his beautiful fiction, is best known in the running community for his book What I Talk About When I Talk About Running. Malcolm Gladwell has been a competitive runner since high school (and recently told Tim Ferriss that he begins every morning by checking out Letsrun.com. Novelist Don DeLillo told the Paris Review how after writing for four hours, he goes running to “shake off one world and enter another.” Joyce Carol Oates, in her ode to running, said that “the twin activities of running and writing keep the writer reasonably sane and with the hope, however illusory and temporary, of control.” Lawrence Block, creator of the Matthew Scudder series was not only an avid runner, but a competitive walker too (more on that in a minute).Professional writers quickly learn one reality of the job: you have more bad days than good. It’s the rare day that the writer finds that the words come out exactly the way they were in their head. In fact, it’s usually the opposite — one is disappointed, distracted, struggling, committed but unproductive. It’s a special day when the flow is pure and uninterrupted, when one doesn’t stop somewhere short of where they’d like to be.But exercise — especially running — is the opposite. A run is almost always good, and if you don’t take your phone, hardly ever interrupted. If you set out to run five miles and five miles is within your capabilities, you will accomplish that goal. It’s rare that one leaves their house for a run and somehow doesn’t make it back. In this way, running is predictable, dependable, satisfying and thus a counterbalance for the mercurial muses of the creative professional. The writer Shelby Foote, who I gather from the copious of images of him in a bathrobe, slippers and smoking a pipe, wasn’t much for running, once joked about all the things he discovered for his books “while looking for something else.” As a researcher, I can attest to that. As a runner, I can also say that most of my biggest breakthroughs as a writer came after I had stopped writing and gone running. There’s no race, there’s only a runnerJust keep one foot in front of the otherAs a runner, the real race is getting up and running every single day. Life is the marathon. The same is true in writing. A lot of people sit down to write a book. Many don’t make it past that point. Plenty get something finished, but are intimidated by the maze that is publishing, promoting, selling. And of the relative few that make it through there, only some have the stamina to start the next one. To make it a career.Murakami once described running as “both exercise and a metaphor.” This is true. The life of a running writer is marathon within a marathon within a marathon. The training and the participation in each one of these races makes us better at the other. He also said, in an interview a few years ago:“Without a solid base of physical strength, you can’t accomplish anything very intricate or demanding. That’s my belief. If I did not keep running, I think my writing would be very different from what it is now.”This has always been true, even before our modern culture of exercise. Diogenes Laertes in his famous Lives of Eminent Philosophers tells us that the philosopher Chrysippus trained as a long distance runner before he discovered Stoicism. One can only imagine the influence this training had on Chrysippus, and how it put him in a position to understand a philosophy based on self-discipline, inner-control and endurance. The saying in the ancient world was that “But for Chrysippus, there had been no Porch.” (the stoa in stoicism) But for many miles of running, would there have been a Chrysippus? There are plenty more philosophers, writers, and poets who have found the same benefits in not just in running but in walking. For centuries, thinkers have walked many miles a day because they had to, because they were bored, because they wanted to escape the putrid cities they lived in, because they wanted to get their blood flowing. In the process they discovered an important side-effect: it helped them make better work. As Nietzsche would later say: “It is only ideas gained from walking that have any worth.” Thoreau, another avid walker, claimed, “the moment my legs begin to move my thoughts begin to flow.”Lawrence Block, a prodigious writer and author of more than a hundred books, traded in marathons for day long distance walking races in his 60s. This activity, he says, is quite similar creative process. He told screenwriter Brian Koppelman on Slate’s The Moment, “either writing or distance walking would be a bad idea for someone who doesn’t have much of an inner-life.” The novelist Helen Dunmore gave The Guardian a list of rules for creating fiction. The best one? “A problem with a piece of writing often clarifies itself if you go for a long walk.”

HAPPY SUMMER CARE
 Manisha Bhatia
 13 March 2018

Babies especially newborns are sensitive beings recently out from the safe vicinity of mother’s cocoon to face the extreme weather conditions. Since their bodies are slowly developing immunity and tolerance, babies born in summers have a tougher time of not only coping up with extremely hot surroundings but also regular problems like long power cuts, water shortage, and soaring temperature. HappyMaa provides some tips to keep both the baby and mother cool during the summers.Baby bathing frequency-Babies sweat a lot during the summers but it is still not recommended to bathe them frequently as their skin may get dry. However, if your child still feels too hot wiping them frequently with lukewarm sponge will and moisturizing them also help to keep them cool and prevent their skin from developing dryness. Babies should not be bathed with cold water in open surroundings, the bathing water should always be lukewarm and babies should be brought back to the bed wrapped in a towel. While bathing the baby special care should be taken to clean her underarms, neck, and all the folds visible on her body as these areas produce more sweat and chances of developing rashes are more.Oil Massage- Oil massages are mandatory health routines for the baby even in summers as they regulate blood circulation and strengthens the bones of the child. However, in summers it is recommended to use light oil which readily gets absorbed in the skin and doesn’t stay for long on the body of the baby as it may block the sweat pores and develop skin rashes causing irritation.Summer dressing- Babies should be dressed in loose fitting cotton clothes during summers as cotton cloths easily absorb the mild sweating. For the protection of babies they are usually dressed in layers so that whenever they start feeling uncomfortable due to soaring weather a layer can be removed to keep them cool yet protected. If you are moving out with the baby, try to cover their body completely with loose and soft cotton cloth and her head with comfortable hat to safeguard her from scorching heat, rashes, and heat strokes. However, it is recommended to avoid taking baby out during the hot weather for a long time.Additionally, throughout the weather try to use soft and comfortable material for baby everywhere like whenever you are putting baby down the cloth below her like the bedsheet should be of soft cotton material so that it can easily absorb their mild sweating. It is recommended to avoid using silk, nylon, and other synthetic form of material for the baby as they may trap heat inside the baby’s body and cause them to sweat profusely causing skin rashes.Use of AC and Coolers for baby- It is highly recommended to keep baby under the normal room temperature so that their bodies adjust to the temperature accordingly. However, if the mercury is soaring and unbearable, the AC and Coolers at moderate temperature can be used. However, babies should be kept away from the effect of direct air hitting their bodies. Also, switch off the AC and let the baby’s body adjust to the temperature before taking them out during the summers as sudden baby’s bodies are vulnerable to sudden weather changes.HAPPY MAA WISHES YOU AND YOUR BABY HAPPY SUMMERS. WE ALSO RECOMMEND YOU TO SHARE YOUR UNIQUE TIPS TO KEEP YOUR BABY COOL DURING THE SUMMERS.

HOUSE HUSBAND----A MATTER OF PRIDE ….OR A NEW CHALLENGE

HOUSE HUSBAND----A MATTER OF PRIDE ….OR A NEW CHALLENGEAncient sayings and proverbs glorified the marriage and relationships to great extents. Like, a girl must stay in home and cook, look after the needs of family, while a guy’s work was to earn money and support the family financially. As days passed by, both of them started working and sharing all their works to lead a luxurious and comfortable lifestyle. They needed to save amount for their future too.And now, role reversal is at its peaks. Heavy works, night shifts, tight deadlines, both men and women are capable of everything today. A new trend in recent years is the concept of 'house husband'.. Imagine, a guy staying at home, cooking, cleaning, washing dishes and managing the entire home. How cool it is!! But it isn't as cool as you imagine. Reality is far different from the beautiful imagination one dreams of. A lot of drawbacks come along with this innovative new trend. Yes, even while seeking suggestions for this write up, a few people asked me the same question " Why can't this happen? Many years back, girls stayed at home, taking care of everything. Now why can't guys do the same? Let guys too enjoy the comfort of home for a few years." The point here is not just about the comfort of home or role reversal. It's about sharing responsibilities and staying together.Okay, let's take a stand between both, a house wife and a house husband. A house wife wakes up early, cooks for the family, helps her family members in getting ready and completes any petty works if any. Rest of the day, till her family members return home, she is free. She doesn't have any compulsory task to complete. In the evening, her routine works begin again. What does she do in the meanwhile? In specific, how does she spend the time from 10- 3? A lot of options are there. Gardening, reading, craft works, even watching television serial is considered a decent hobby nowadays. She could learn new stuffs, even new recipes to cook or an idea of getting a new friend even wouldn’t be that bad. Anyhow she would make the best use of her time. Now imagine a house husband. He does the same work in the mornings and evenings as a house wife does. But the mean time?? How could he make the best use of this time? Obviously, many activities are there. But remember the basic psychological fact, a guy cannot stay in the same place for hours together. Even in our homes we have examples. A girl child would stay at home playing with dolls for the whole day. But a boy can't stay at home even for two or three hours completely.( we all would have experienced this even by our own self.)See, we can't blame guys here. Basically, they are gifted with strong physical and mental strength than women. That is why, they are unable to put all their energy within their home. They are basically designed so. And coming to the point, a house husband goes around the city for the whole day, roaming here and there. What would happen eventually? His wife would be struggling in office and he would be casually going here and there. Would it look nice??Another major constraint is money. The earning man gives his salary to his wife and she allocates money for all expenses. That is the practice in most of the homes today. A man may earn in lakhs, but the proper planning and investment can only be done by a girl. So a housewife can easily allocate money for her expenses. But in the case of house husband, a man's ego and self respect would get hurt to great extents if he asks his wife for money.         It's not an issue. Not just guys, every human being, after a certain age, wants to be independent or wants the money to be in their hands. Asking money for getting a newspaper or even a cool drink would be awkward. Coming to personal thoughts, a guy can come home late night after work, he can go anywhere, no need of suspecting him (90% cases, women don't suspect or shout). But a guy staying at home while his wife doing night shift, is not that applicable. Seeds of suspicion and doubt would automatically come after a certain period of time. Last and the least bothersome issue is our society. Our society would blame everything. "A girl or guy, whomever it may be, they shouldn't stay at home." A statement given by so called 'social people'. And that can be completely ignored. Coming to the other perspectives, it will be completely new to try out such stuffs. And experimenting that will give an enriching experience too. Remember the days when women spoke of bringing a new change and started working. Like the same, this could turn out to be a beautiful bond. But a great risk in this relationship is, ' a guy must never opt to be a house husband just because he didn't clear his arrears or that he can't get a job. This is not a new try. This is just another way of escaping from one's duties and responsibilities’. And believe it, this would make his life terrible. Because deep in his mind, he would get fixed like he is capable of nothing but household chores. And if he ever feels difficulty in his work as a house husband, then his great imagination has higher chances of becoming a night mare.Mutual understanding, care and concern, trust, promises hold a greater place in this relationship. Suspicion, doubt, inferiority complex are common for both genders. It's all about how a person tackles it and how he responds to people. If guys of their age earn in lakhs and have a car or home of their own, then house husbands should be in a position to give them apt replies instead of making their own selves feel inferior. And he should let go off his ego before asking for money or anything. Always keep in mind, you have become a house husband out of your own wish, not anyone else’s.Remember, people would talk with you, behind you and about you, either in a good or bad way. You cannot paste their mouths, instead you can change your own perspective. And, a point should be always taken into consideration. Men are blessed with stronger abilities only to support women, be it a house husband or a working person. Being a house husband should not push him to heights of laziness and a wonderful zone of comfort.Life is all about challenges. A person with a proper vision and goal towards future, one who is willing to set new trends, someone who is adaptable to changes and more importantly a man who is willing to take up job again, if something goes wrong, can experiment with this bond. New stuffs generally take time. Once you have taken a decision, just go with it. but always remember, becoming a house husband should be a matter of choice and consent, not of escapism and laziness.....#smblogcontest

THE LANGUAGE OF VIOLENCE
 Gunika Grover
 7 April 2018

Derrick Jensen, in his book “A language older than words” showcases a monologue of torturous life in the first chapter titled silencing. In a world of mixed ethnicities and cultures, jensen wishes to connect and hit homes of the readers with his nerve wrecking message about the existing mushrooming violence. Marveling environmental beauty and the reality of space, he traverses from his memories of the troubled past and guides us to his future and expeditions where he sought lying was the only route to mend his living. The implicit silence that lurks within the society now and since childhood then, is an act of living in a world distant from the truth. In our schooling years whence we all our free birds with no systemisation in our lives, we risk our hearts at the pleasures of being honest and innocent. The education we receive is a monopolistic game play to create disparity between what we are taught and what we experience and feel. The difference makes us stuck in a virtual world where there is a constant conflict between the residence of belief or sight. To survive from which, we must speak lies. With the passage of time, we get bound within the bountiful cultures of knowledge and monotony strikes our lives and we begin to settle. Settle for the way we work, the pattern in which we breathe, the space in which we travel. This life is ushered by physical, mental emotional oppression. However the contemporary era may be, we continue to deny the truth in reality and become mindless, deaf and mute to those in need. “the lies act as barriers to truth.”If one chose to speak, he would be silenced by the oppressing powers of culture, politics in the society. “Consider your own life, the ways you deny your own experience, the ways you have to deaden your own empathies to get through the day.” This subjugation of truth and self acceptance that has been hardwired in our lives sJensen snap shows flashes from his distraught childhood of extreme physical abuse, to which he was made accustomed to as they were ritualised by his father. Making him witness the rule of the powerful, he made jensen sit on the table, quietly, while he assaulted and victimised his family members. after this became a regime, jensen abandoned his belief system and gave up the fight for a change. His father, made him believe in a world which was made out of a figment of his imagination. To him, this ‘control’ over his thoughts and subsequently actions was ‘normal’. although The intensity of torture and pain inflicted over jensen was a customised service upon him done by his father;he was made to believe that this was the routine for him. Escaping from such incidences was a question of human dignity, more of all, his survival. How did he cater to this acute urge to survive? By lying.Jensen rightfully demonstrates how violence speaks the language of lies. “do not believe a word I write in this book, about my father, about the culture, about anything.” Jensen puts the reader in a state of epistemic ambivalence when he contradicts himself and his stories in an attempt to fabricate the truth. For even then, he wishes to make his ends meet. However unbelievable these covers may be, they must always serve as the barrier for truth to colour the horrid reality. He caged himself in a rock crystallized world where he chose silence over speech, calm over revolt and lies over truth. He quotes R.D Laing “ if our experience is destroyed we have lost our own selves” which is precisely jensen’s trial. By denying of it all being happened at the first place, he attempts on losing those memories. These fabrications are the only bread to the subjugated human, suffocating inside the uniform bars of falsehood.History reflects the human tendency to turn a blind eye and lie about the existence of the to existence of successive damaging events. The study from the Allport, Bruner and Jandorf , psychologists of the holocaust and the transformation of the oppressed, from victims to survivors, is hard hitting one. In that period of constant misery and turmoil, steadily victims adapted to their fate, they became tolerant. This tolerance came by the harvest of escapism in their sweet, small endeavors as a mechanism for survival. They found their abode in mozart, business trips and leisure at the countryside. This helped them carve out their world of facades and live in an unreal reality. Jensen attempts the same by reaching out to the naturally expressive yet unspeaking and unhearing stars and moons. “I did not die because they spoke to me.”Jensen snap shows flashes from his distraught childhood of extreme physical abuse, to which he was made accustomed to as they were ritualised by his father. Making him witness the rule of the powerful, he made jensen sit on the table ,quietly, while he assaulted and victimised his family members. By staining his head, instead of painting a fresh leaf, it became a regime, jensen abandoned his belief system and gave up the fight for a change. This tolerance came by the harvest of escapism in their sweet, small endeavors as a mechanism for survival. They found their abode in mozart, business trips and leisure at the countryside. This helped them carve out their world of facades and live in an unreal reality. By staunch He reaches out to the time when humans see but don’t acknowledge, hear but not listen and register quite what happens around them. He talks of a time when if a grenade were to roll across on the floor, it humans won’t realize it and turn a blind eye to them. Grease, oil and barrels all of which are uncommon to an average working class human, would be highly common. To the dockworkers and factory-men and thus, dangers in a mill would be shortly adjusted to their lifestyle. They too live in a little world of their own lies, ruled by terror but governed by their own escape.Humans are the tenants of the hyperbole of their deception and by each passing moment of progression or digression they save themselves by being stagnant in their own times. . There are atrocities, havocs, desirous activities, disasters and other moments of upheavels for an average human, imagining an illusionary universe can provide a necessary escape. Hence comes the dire need for adopting false mechanisms. False mechanism provides a fraudulent environment which is subjective to everyone, even if so in reality there is a mass in the common pit. In Jensen’s state of constant denial and neglect of reality, he dwells on his experience and faded memories, even while trying to let go of it. They are always arriving in a constant state of departure. We are silencing the reality which begs our interest and action. And even though we go on eons and eons, we are only here for the fraction of fraction of a second and so we stand in a pool of human built subdued untruths. A pool of veils on truth,  made by the subject hood of individuals ,granted to it by the society to facilitate existence. After all the romanticism of relativity theory lies in the passage of time which depends directly as to where we are standing. In past, present, future or just an unreal world decorated by lies of our own.

Review on the movie - Kahaani -2
 Harsha Darji
 20 April 2018

Everbody has 'kahaani' i.e stories to share in life, but their are few stories that are very heart touching, senstive, serious, reality & a matter of attention. I know we all have busy life, busy schedule & there many couples whose life depends on nanny, maids, day care for children etc. At times parents also leave their children at friends place, neighbours place or any relatives place without even having a thought tat whether my child would be safe or unsafe. The dirty mind belongs to strangers is true but we need to accept that even our own near & dear ones could have mind filled with shits & may try to harm your child, abuse your child. We teach many do's & dont's to our children but we forget to teach them a very important lesson that is of their own safety, yes safety of their body, lessons of good & bad touch. Make your child aware about gud & bad sign of touch, talk to them daily, have more conversation about school, teachers, bus drivers, auto driver etc. Parents must not forget that child abuse done by near & dear ones is not a matter to hide, ignore & make your child to suffer & get into pain or depression wherein he/ she cant tend to come out. We see & read many cases of child abuse in newspapers, televisions etc but we only get serious about it the day if any such incident takes place in our family. I request everyone do not wait for such cruel incidents to take place. Get alert & start talking & teaching your child today, coz precaution is better than cure. If any one comes across about any such incidents in schools, tutions, day care centers, NGO's one must immediately light such issues, investigate & inform the police. If we dnt act now than many such strangers will get more gutts to spoil life of several children. Your children are lucky coz they have parents like you to take stand & raise voice for them but there are many who do not have parents, they live in child ngo's, ashrams & have no one to share their pain. It's our moral duty to raise our voice & act against the child abuse. Be a friend to your child so that they can share entire routine & kahani of every day. I appreciate the director to take such a serious topic of 'child abuse' & highlighted the current rising issue for our children. There is a strong message to get serious about your child & their safety. Vidya was awesome the way she performed. It could have highlighted more such issues along with data from schools, child ngo's etc. I give 3.5 start to raise this topic in 'Kahaani -2' . It's a family movie so make sure your child also learns out of it. There is a message for all such strangers that, don't play with the life of any child or else accept death penalty or imprisonment for entire life. Even our judiciary laws must be strict & such person should straight away be sentenced to death.

Individualism vs. Collectivism

 16 May 2018

A few days back I read once again Ayn Rand’s Fountainhead, when I had read it earlier as a school going child I had not understood it at all. I had found it silly and boring; the old copy was still lying in the corner of my father’s bookshelf. My hand stretched involuntarily to pick up the yellow-paged old book a few days back. I started reading it late in the evening and kept at it into the night to finish in a readathon (like marathon) manner. This time I saw the book anew. It was fresh and ringed of issues and thoughts which are relevant even today, as they were at that time, in 1957, and I think they will be still relevant for years to come. The Russian immigrant writer was strong-willed, intelligent and years ahead of her time. The philosophical novel which she wrote then invited much criticism but soon it gained lots of popularity and sold millions of copies.  I feel the story of the protagonist though larger than life, why I am saying larger than life as the feelings, conditions, the circumstances which he goes through are little hard to find in today’s world. Many people go through times when they have to succumb to societal pressures, make deal with their ideas, priorities and sooner or later they do it for the sake of their family, friends, careers and what not. But Fountain head’s hero is not ready for a compromise. Not as a student, never as a professional. He is at war with the complete society. He does not give up even after being jobless, alone and broke. It is an amazing read, and I will not venture further. Those who have read it will understand the points which I have mentioned. Those who have not read it, I suggest should read it.Here I want to draw out the philosophy of Fountainhead. Ayn Rand supports individualism on the face of collectivism. It is hard to digest for an Indian, as all other societies but predominantly Indian’s have always been supporting collectivism. We have been always taught to sacrifice, bend, compromise for the sake of family, society, organization and many more. As psychology says a man is a social animal and likes to live in groups. Since the period when a man was a caveman he learned a lesson that if he has to survive then he should live in groups, otherwise he does not have a chance in front of the wild animals. The lessons taken in the jungle worked wonderfully till man dwelled in a cave. It gave him security, protection, recognition, power and many more. But once the wheel was made, the fire was ignited, mines were dug, and houses were constructed things changed. The civilized world came into being, with it came rules and regulations.  Discipline was ingrained and customs and traditions became prevalent and then staunch for the smooth running of the society. But, then it was possible for a man to live independently, think independently and work also. When I say independently it does not mean, to live like Robinson Crusoe alone on an island with no contact with the world. That is something totally different; it is a disorder if you choose to do it while living in this usual friendly world. When I say think independently means to take certain decisions, which could be distinct, advanced and revolutionary. It may not fit in with the run of the mill, prevalent set of thinking or working culture of a particular society. But if an individual finds it correct, if he or she has complete faith in his work, concept, project or whatever decision he or she has taken then that individual should go ahead with it with complete confidence. In short ‘dare.’In our own country, India and a huge list of foreign countries we have examples wherein we can see that since time immemorial society has ridiculed, tortured, outcasted individuals with advanced ideas which were completely strange, foreign to that generation. There is a long list, right from Galileo, the Wright Brothers, Edison, Marie Currie, Edward Jenner and many more had to go through great pains and efforts to make people realize the importance of their work. In India as well there have been many great men and women who have been educators, reformists, social workers, businessmen whose work was at first trashed but later on understood and hence accepted by people. Why is it so that people are not ready to accept anything new? I think one of the problems which I can perceive lies in the psyche. We humans or even animals get conditioned to a certain routine, habits, weather and almost everything. If we are doing a certain chore every day, or we have been listening about a certain notion over the years, coming down from parents, grandparents and so on; then our mind and even our body accept it without any resistance. In other words, we can say this is the training of a kind. Our body and mind get prepared to see and then accept certain things in a certain way. As in Fountainhead, the Americans of that time were used to see and hence build completely orthodox, conformist kind of buildings which is why they were not liking and hence opposing the innovative ideas of Howard Roark. Some are so influenced by a certain style of living, that they get upset and so angry and jealous to see innovation. Sometimes, these sensitive minds can see or judge that the idea in front of them is fantastic but they are not willing to change, they do not want to come out of their comfort zone. Here again, I will give an example of the manipulative journalist Ellsworth Toohey of Fountainhead. Just because he didn’t appreciate or understand Roark’s independent thinking, his revolutionary ideas, Toohey tried his level best to finish Roark. In the real world also, where we dwell, there are certain elements like Toohey who do not welcome fresh ideas. But I firmly believe that if we look at today’s world analytically, the progress which it has made in leaps and bounds is because of a germ of an idea, vision, a dream seen by an individual. It is very rare that a dream is carried forward by a society as a whole.  It is always initially an individual dream, may be taken up by the society much later. If the individual manages to convince the society of his dream then it propels into a nationwide, statewide revolutionary idea, but never in the beginning. With assurance, I say that individualism, (as in liberty to try new things, set on a new path, try new ways at looking at this good old world) is much greater and better way of living. It should be allowed, helped, propagated and seen as navigators of the progressive world. Collectivism may have helped us in certain situations; where great upheaval is required to turn the old world structure into a new one. But here, I must point out; even this great revolution is always started by one man, one situation. To be always be trapped in the shackles of society’s beliefs, their likings, their fears, their conceptions or misconceptions, how far one can carry this heavy load. There will always come a time when one would like to dump the load and think and move freely.  After all, we are genetically distinct from the sheep which follows each other with precision. We are at the peak of the ecosystem because of the structure of our brain. This boiling pot requires fresh ideas for sustenance, as only change is constant and always needed. That day was pretty good. When I started walking towards Jogeshwari Railway Pathak to go to west. It’s my daily routine. I suddenly surprised when I saw that 2-3 persons are standing near railway Pathak with request board. The message displayed was very clear.’ Do not Cross, Use Foot over bridge. The guys standing there were not from any political party or there was no specific board, identity card, batch carrying out by them. It was the social work. Nothing would be beneficial to them from that task.It was the pure request to people who want reach early at their destination. Someone wants to reach on time in the office. Someone’s family was waiting for them to reach at home on time. Children, old age person, hawkers, disabled, everyone wants to cross the railway track. Why? Why to die? If you use to go from east to west or vice versa. You may come across the one thing near jogeshwari railway Pathak and so other railway stations also-the Ambulance. Every month minimum to 2 bodies has been collected from railway track. The whole procedure disturbs the authorities, family and passers. It never to be seen that people using the foot over bridge. Free…. absolutely free….no one will charge you. And Safe. Condition is that you have to use it for you and your family, friend, colleges who knows your importance in their life.It is quite disturbing that railway authorities failed to stop this. Railway police also tried. They constructed a wall, later it was demolished. The People do not understand the importance of their life. I come to know from the source that the ruling party planning to give escalator facility to people. That is good. We must thankful to them. But the question yet unsolved. Who will educate people? Can Railway authorities put instruction board near railway crossing? The ruling party or social committee guide people constantly with boards and pamphlets. Or the celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Aamir khan’s message may display of hoardings near railway stations.First step towards this good work is to use Foot Over Bridge !!

Omega-3 fats which are found in the aforementioned fishes reduce inflammation which can be the ultimate cause behind the acne and redness and it can even make your skin less sensitive to the harmful UV rays of the sun. They’re also a resource of all the Vitamin E which is one of the main antioxidants which helps your skin.#2: WALNUTSWalnuts also have several kinds of features which make them a perfect food for healthy skin. They’re indeed the best source of fatty acids which are those fats which aren’t made by the human body. Walnuts tend to be richer than most other forms of nuts in both omega-6 and 3 fatty acids. Remember that a diet which is too rich in omega-6 fats will induce inflammation and might lead to psoriasis. On the other hand, omega-3 fats help in reducing inflammation and also in the skin. #3: AVOCADOSAs long as healthy fats are concerned, avocados are rich in them and such fats benefit different function in the body like the health of your skin. Avocados are rich in Vitamin E which is a vital antioxidant which assists in protecting your skin from oxidative damage. Since Vitamin E is that nutrient which majority of the Americans don’t get enough of, it is better to have avocados. It is also essential for our skin to have enough amounts of Vitamin C for getting healthy and fresh skin. These days, it is rare to have a deficiency of Vitamin C but still there are few common symptoms like rough, dry and scaly skin which gets bruised easily. A 100 gm serving which is around half of an avocado offers 10% of RDI of Vitamin R and 18% of RDI of Vitamin C. #4: SUNFLOWER SEEDSIn general, seeds and nuts are the best sources of nutrients which are vital for healthy skin. One of the best examples are sunflower seeds. Just 1 ounce of sunflower seeds have 34% of antioxidant selenium, 10% of zinc and 5.4 grams of protein. Besides having this ability, sunflower seeds are one of the best sources of linoleic acid which is omega 6 fat which helps the skin in staying flexible, thick and moisturized. As per an observational study done on 5000 women, it was seen that a high intake of linoleic acid is always related to reduced risk of thin and dry skin due to aging. Hence, sunflower seeds are vital source of nutrients which include Vitamin E which is a vital antioxidant for your skin. #5: YELLOW OR RED BELL PEPPERSDid you know that bell peppers are a vital source of beta carotene? If you have 1 cup of chopped red bell pepper, this will have 92% of vitamin A. They can also be said to be the best resources of Vitamin C, the antioxidant which is required for creating collagen and which keeps the skin strong and firm. When you have a single cup of bell pepper, this offers you an impressive 318% of Vitamin C as per what you need daily. When you eat plenty of Vitamin C, this is usually associated with low change of skin aging and reduced wrinkles and other inevitable signs of aging. Therefore, when you eat the right things, this will definitely have the intended impact on your skin. So, when a healthy skin is all that is there in your mind, you should take enough vital nutrients for safeguarding your skin. Take into account the foods that are given on the list and start taking them to reap their benefits.

Please give details about your initial education and forming years of life.I was raised in Patna for the first eight years of my life, after which my family moved to Kolkata. I completed my schooling from Garden High School, Kolkata, and later studied English Literature at Lady Brabourne College under Calcutta University. Finally, I received a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC). Most of my childhood memories consist of my grandfather reading me stories, which sowed the first seeds of my obsession with storytelling and all things literary. How did you get interested in literature? What inspired you to write? Everything that happened in my life served as inspiration at one point or another, as well as the stories of other people whom I met or read about. I have also always been inspired by movies and TV shows, and routinely get obsessed with characters, whom I then proceed to write about and reinterpret in my own stories and poems.I guess my interest in literature was first born partly because of my grandfather, who would read stories to me every afternoon before we took a nap. That made me curious about storytelling, because I wanted to learn more about the characters and the world, even after the story was over. It was a mixed blessing, really, because I spent most of my student life hiding novels under my textbooks and almost flunking several exams as a consequence. What difficulties did you have to face with respect to literary work? Anything worth doing is hard to do, you know? The more you care about what you're doing, the more difficult it is, because you worry about the smallest mistakes and want the final product to be perfect. You also worry about what other people will think, whether or not reviewers and readers would like it, whether something might be misinterpreted, etc. But that's a good thing, really, because it wouldn't matter so much if you didn't love the work. The fact that it's difficult only proves that you're constantly trying to get better. When it stops being a challenge, that's when you need to start worrying. What is your view about the present day literary work? I think we're living in one of the best times in the history of humanity, in terms of literature, or artistic work of any kind. The variety and scope of opportunities that modern writers have is absolutely unprecedented. Earlier, in order to find an audience, you had to find a publisher who'd agree to invest in you, you had to then write in a way that would appeal to the largest section of people possible, to ensure that your publisher made a profit. Or you had to be insanely rich in order to opt for vanity publication, which was very expensive. Now, in various corners of the Internet, you can find all types of literary work – from fanfiction to poetry, novels to flash fiction, there is a place for everything. And all you need to access it is a smartphone and a data plan. And for the most part, you don't really have to worry about being censored or redacted. Writers have never been more free to experiment, try out new things, and have their voice be heard by people around the world.Do you think that the emergence of digital and social media has given a new opportunity to creative writers? Absolutely. I think that the Internet is the best invention since the printing press for writers and creatives in general. Please tell us something about your literary work. I write across mediums and genres. So far, I've written two and a half novels, more than fifty poems, numerous articles, four short stories, and two fanfiction stories. Really, it depends on the type of emotion I'm trying to convey at that point. Almost everything I've ever written can be found on my blog. Well, apart from the novels. Those can be found on Amazon and also on Wattpad. What was your first literary work and how was it published? Well, I suppose my first officially published work was my novel, The Classroom Effect. It was published via Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing program around 2015.How many ways literature can contribute to society in future? In the same way that it has contributed in the past, by keeping a record of the times so that future generations can learn from our mistakes, and the present generation can reflect on the realities of the world while at the same time being entertained.Where do you see yourself after 5 years in the literary world? Writing more stories, spinning better yarns? I don't know, really. As long as I can keep writing things that interest and excite me, I'd be happy! What ways would you suggest to build a community for poets? The best way for creative people to build communities, I think, is by freely sharing their works with those who might enjoy them. You can't connect with people if they don't know you exist. And sharing has never been as easy as it is now, with the Internet. So I think poets and writers in general should take advantage of this opportunity, and share as widely and as freely as possible. What message would you like to give to aspiring new writers? Well, I'm pretty new at this myself, and I do aspire. So I'm still in the process of figuring it all out myself. If there's one thing that I have learned, though, it's that in order to do any creative work, you absolutely HAVE to give yourself the freedom to fail. You have to allow yourself to do your absolute worst work, because that's the only way to learn and get better. There's really no way around being a novice. You can't reach grade 3 without going through grades 1 and 2. If you try for perfection from the very beginning (which is what I did initially) you'll just keep disappointing yourself and never get anything done. The desire for perfection is the birthplace of writer's block. How was your experience of writing on Storymirror? It has been wonderful so far! I've read some fantastic poetry on this site and had a lot of fun sharing my own work with this lovely community!Would you like to say something about Storymirror? I think Storymirror is a fantastic platform for young writers and poets to share their work and find a community of other creative individuals. I have been on many online writing forums and websites, but this is the first time I have come across such a platform based primarily around Indian writing. We have long needed such a platform, and therefore, I think it's an amazing initiative that all budding Indian writers and literature lovers should participate in wholeheartedly! Here is the link to read my content https://storymirror.com/profile/vkzhvfka/nupur-chowdhury/poems

Please give details about your initial education and forming years of life.Hi, my name is Naman Chatterjee. I have recently turned 13 and am moving to 8th grade. I have been born and brought up in Gurgaon, Delhi NCR. I started my schooling and continue to be at Shikshantar – a place where I can be ‘me’.From my early days, I have been fascinated by all kinds of cars – that’s what even my teachers from idiscoveri preschool remember about me. As I am growing up, this has become a passion – I am an avid fan of all kinds of car racing – F1, Formula E, Moto GP etc. I enjoy a variety of music and sports - from the age of 6, I started learning tennis & piano and they have gradually become an important part of my routine. I have fun playing games on the Xbox and PS4. And…as expected, I can remain engrossed in books for hours!!! How did you get interested in literature? What inspired you to write?   My parents always encouraged me to spend time with books. I remember listening to a wide variety of amusing stories in Hindi, English and Bengali from my parents and grandparents. This started me on my journey with books and this bond has got stronger day by day. At school, I enjoyed reading (or initially observing the pictures) the books from the small book stacks in the classroom. A few years ago, I and my friends became Tintin fans – we used to exchange the comics and read them together. We still do that with books we are currently interested in. During summer holidays, I have spent my time relaxing with the collection of my mother’s old books (& Archies comics!!!) at my Nani’s house. My interest in literature spans a vast range and I enjoy characters like Famous Five, Geronimo Stilton, Shonku & Feluda, Harry Potter etc. I have been entertained by the works of many authors - Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl, Herge, Ruskin Bond, Satyajit Ray, Agatha Christie. Mystery & adventure is the genre that I love.  At school, we were always encouraged to express our thoughts and feelings on paper – first through art and then through writing. Starting with a few lines in my own spellings, I began writing short pieces based on the themes given in class.  I got a lot of encouragement from my teachers and parents and over time, my writing skills evolved to poems and short stories based on prompts or on areas of my interest. Guided by my English teacher, my mother approached Children’s World magazine and my work was well appreciated by the editor. When my first poem got published, it further boosted my confidence and motivated me to write better .  I was selected for a workshop ‘ Kissa-O-Kalam’ at Sahitya Akademi in May 2017 where I got to learn about different writing techniques from the mentors and hear interesting ideas of my companions. I have also participated in a number of creative writing competitions including Katha Utsav(2015), Scholastic Writing Awards(2016), Hindu Young World Club contests etc. These experiences have brought in new perspectives and enhanced my writing. What is your view about the present-day literary work?Modern day adventure stories excite me. I have read the series of Percy Jackson, Alex Rider and Time Riders. I find these to be thrilling with fast action and quick changes of scenarios – the twists and turns take the story to unexpected endings. Moreover, these adventures always involve some novel type of technological features which makes it more interesting. I find it difficult to put down the book till I have reached the end –you want to finish it as fast as you can to know the climax. Please tell us something about your literary work.I enjoy writing short stories and poems in English. I generally pick up abstract topics and use my imagination to spin stories around them. For this, I draw upon my experiences of travel, stories that I read, games that I play and what I observe around me.Some of my works include:Short stories - Autobiography of a Pair of Socks, A Chance Encounter with Hanumanji, Desert Escapade Poems – The Paper Boat, Fire n Ice, Falcon, Sounds of Silence I have also written few poems and short stories in Hindi – बचपन, जंगल बचाव, मन करताहै What was your first literary work and how was it published? My first literary work was an English poem called ‘Sounds of Silence’ which was published in the ‘Children’s World’ magazine on its 50th anniversary in April 2017. It is a monthly magazine brought out by the Children Book Trust, Delhi and is one of the oldest magazines for children.Where do you see yourself after 5 years in the literary world?                            I am keen to continue writing short stories and hope to sharpen my writing skills in the future. One of the ways I plan to do this is by pursuing my passion for reading. This will help me to get more ideas and to create extraordinary stories. What ways would you suggest to build a community for poets?                          Online platforms help amateur writers to share their works and read contributions from others. This can be enhanced by holding regular events and workshops. Emerging writers get to interact among themselves, appreciate other’s style of writing and learn from each other. Inviting a well known poet or author to share their thoughts will help young writers to get new ideas and develop their writing skills.      What message would you like to give to aspiring new writers?I always believe in the motto “Writing is an exploration. London is a city that is open for all, welcomes with all the favours you require and it is a city that has so many places, cultural systems and multi-tasking platforms that can certainly make your day if you are about to begin a cultural tournament like European Quiz Championship for which as a field activity we the Indian Visually Impaired team took upon ourselves to explore and have some joy in the city.Usually we arrived here in the early morning through two connecting flights and were certainly tired thus getting a stay to get fresh closer to the airport through support of Indian Quiz Federation was a great venture and we took upon ourselves to have some rest, have some vegetarian feast for ourselves and have great tastes. From there on we have to decide where we should stay for next five days, have to plan our whole field routine between the complete tournament with our hopes to go forward and thence after 2 hours of rest and comfort we took a cab and started our adventure in such a prominent city. The team that is known for certain natural ventures and cultural moves is a certain great habit to have and thence we planned our four different ways for the whole day with some prominent names joining us later and we settled it first visiting through the Tems river, then going closer to the seashore, Thence closing on our trip with some steep pillar areas and ultimately to visit famous hot spots of the city in the eve that was going to be a great experience. In such plans, we first analysed how much has been settled by the board for the travel ventures, discussed with our management how to be comfortable with some prominent names of international fames joining us and also let them know what we were up for that should be perfect to make the day for sure. Once that was all clear, it was not big deal to settle the adventures and before doing that we gradually settled for a short brunch, observed some local nature based commitments for environment and after having both steps we now looked forward for a glorius day coming ahead in such a city like London with lot of joy to be part of indeed. Our trip of the day started with having lot of joy as a team with some great names across Tames river where we had short under-water fun session and we also enjoyed boating, river-rafting and Kayaking which was all great experience to cherish as a group bonding session as a team. Once that was over we headed towards the sea shore and there at the beach we took over a task to perform as a  nature based activity collecting recycling products and using them to recycle with certain machines available which was a group activity once again and made our delight increase a lot having it done accordingly. After having the activities closer to water sports, we retreived back for a short lunch and having vegetarian cooked food for us as a team thence we headed towards some Pillar-owned places with historic essence where we explored with our hands and devices, talked with local guides about their evidence-based maturity and had lot of laughter pulling each other leg as a team. Finally after these three trips were over, the last one was approaching and we took upon ourselves to have another cab ride with two guides for us who stopped the cab on every local venture to explore and it was a great community view of London we had by their support which was all at large great fun to have with group activities and happy atmosphere allalong that is always energetic before any tournament to come and make impact. Ultimately the joy of outdoor fun was over and the formal procession to face the best was approaching soon which meant that European Quiz Championship was not far to begin and it was few hours before we would again sit amongst those all and would be competing but before as a team we gathered closer to the place where we are going to spend our five days as stay and we found some local experts enjoying musical play which we listened on and refreshed our  mood before such formal activity from next day would begin. We confirmed to the officials of the stay rooms that we would have five day settlement in the place and the financial expert of the team paid the official charges with a small help by me as a captain as a group contribution, had some joy with the team before going in to sleep and after having quick pieces of vegetarian supper which is our core demand the night was now approaching fast and we were getting ready to do our best. By all means it was a great day outdoor, we had lot of joy as a group with some prominent names of global respect also joining us and before going to sleep we texted them online thanking their presence and with smiles all over they also responded great. By all accounts now the only hope is to do well in the tournament, As a captain  am assured that we only have to focus our goal coming ahead and let's hope we must perform up to our expectations all over the globe, till more happy moments come by with great furver It's cheers from charlie...

Bhagavad Gita Verse 1.46

Be Total - In Gita Verse 1.46 Sañjaya said: Arjuna, having thus spoken on the battlefield, cast aside his bow and arrows and sat down on the chariot, his mind overwhelmed with grief.Sanjaya told Dhritarashtra, Arjuna by saying all regarding his unconsciousness, keeping aside his bow and arrow sat in his chariot with fully grief.Persons like Arjuna when knowing that right now he is totally unconsciousness as part of army and also as an individual who is fighting this war will be representing universe, It's good to keep aside the weapon and come back to consciousness rather than to start the war in unconsciousness. His grief was mentioned as overwhelmed, means, total, overflowing. When we are total in anything, it allows us to drop. Like fruits when they are ripped they drop on their own. Similarly when we are total, even our unconsciousness will drop. There is an intricate relationship between an act and the end result. We always want to have a perfect result for whatever we do, without losing ourselves in the act. Is such an act possible? To understand the fine difference, it is important to examine ‘perfection’ and ‘totality’. Although for many people, perfection is the ultimate goal, it is nothing less than illusion or myth; something which is nonexistent. We are attracted by the very idea of perfection, not realising that it is like a disease which is dangerous and destructive. If not for our obsession with perfection, our action could open the door to a beautiful spiritual journey.Whatever you do, just pour your heart in it, do it with totality. The Bhagavad Gita says that karma is enjoyable if the heart is involved in it. Then there is no karma and kerta; both melt and become one. That is totality. Perfection is myth, while totality is reality.Perfection is a goal somewhere in the future while totality is an experience this very moment, in which your act is transformed into meditation and a beautiful prayer descends in your heart. In fact, there is no future reference or goal for totality; only a routine life style albeit soaked in spiritual fragrance. If you do any work or any act with your whole heart, then you are total, then you are walking on the same path which Kabir and Ravidas chose. The whole idea is to ‘be total’ in everything that you are doing. It doesn’t matter what you do, whether you are making clothes like Kabir or shoes like Ravidas, or cooking food or working on a new design for most advanced spacecraft, or cleaning the floor. The job is immaterial. The focus is that doing is with totality, which is the only way to transform the act into meditation and to transform the doing into a beautiful prayer. To be total in your work is a totally different thing. To be total in your work is not addiction, it is a kind of meditation. When you are totally in your work, your work has a possibility of perfection, you will have a joy arising out of a perfect work.If you can be perfect and total in work, you can be total in no-work — just sitting silently, totally silent. You know how to be total. You can close your eyes and you can be totally in. You know the secret of being total. So to be total in work is helpful in meditation. The workaholic cannot meditate, he cannot sit silently even for a few minutes. He will fidget, he will change his position, he will do something or other — look into this pocket or that pocket, and he knows that there is nothing in those pockets. He will take out his glasses, clean them, put them away, and he knows they are clean.Arjuna practiced totality throughout his life. So in this moment of unconsciousness he was total and realised that it's better to put my arms aside and regain my consciousness before the start of the war.

Bhagavad Gita Verse 2.16

 13 July 2019

Body And Soul - In Gita Verse 2.16 Those who are seers of the truth have concluded that of the nonexistent (the material body) there is no endurance and of the eternal (the soul) there is no change. This they have concluded by studying the nature of both. All the seers out of their realization they concluded body, resist as it has no tolerance, and for soul, consciousness, it allows as for it there is no change. For body everything is fragmented opposite, so it always resists, oppose. For the soul everything is same - happiness-unhappiness, love-hate, all opposite is same. So soul or the person who is connected with his subjectivity allows everything, no resistance.Realization by seer says truth needs no defense; only lies need defense. Truth needs no argument, it is self-evident.So the problem with truth is always how to convey it to the other person.Lies can be argued about. The other can be convinced about them; logic can be used to convince the other. Hence, I hate the word "missionary," because the missionary can only spread lies. He convinces, argues, quotes scriptures. But truth needs nothing. Truth is enough unto itself. So, if you have felt something of truth here, please don't try to convince anybody. You cannot succeed. Only make your experience available - naked, with no logic, with no argument. Truth has its own way. It will come through the shine of your eyes, through the aura of your being, through your very presence, that you have been in a garden - you are still fragrant. Here when Krishna uses the word TRUTH, what he means is not regarding fact or lies. He says that a person from his own realization has understood the truth that they can go beyond. They will not act from their logic. It’s very easy to live a logical life, where you can have many proofs when your logic has certain substance in it. You can prove it correct and the same logic can be proved by others as lies. He is not talking about the truth and lie in terms of logic. He says that seers who realized that for the gross body there is logic of truth and lie but for soul the TRUTH is SUCHNESS. It is. They don’t need proof to prove their subjectivity, they act from their subjectivity silently. They don’t disconnect themselves with their subjectivity, they act from their subjectivity. What is meant by acting from subjectivity? It simply means that in this moment’s act without evaluating whether is is trivial or any importance you act from your self-alertness or not. Say this moment you are walking, whether you are focused on walking or you are unconscious and robot like walk. If your routine act is with self-alertness, this is path of TRUTH, it will be preparation to deliver universe assignment. When you live your normal and routine life with self-alertness suddenly you will start getting more responsibility from the surrounding. Say you will find that now you can be more supportive to the people around you. Support means you help people around you without involving yourself emotionally or having any expectation from them. You will be supporting them because you enjoy doing that not for satisfying your ego. When you help you satisfy your ego. This is signal from universe that you are promoted to next level of life. It’s ongoing process. Once you will support the people around you suddenly you will find that now you have got opportunity to support society. By this time some realization will come to you that now something is coming to you rather then you are in search of something. When you were acting from your objectivity you were going after doing something as doer. When you will act from your subjectivity something will come to you and you will be sharing and participating in that act. 180 degree change. Doer to non-doer.Krishna is talking to Arjuna regarding this TRUTH, and not truth and lie of the objective world. Even Arjuna when conscious he was aware of the objective of this war for him, Fighting Without Enmity. Because he moved in logical thinking he forgot what act he is thinking as doer came to him and he needs to act by dropping all this logical arguments and seeing the possibility of how without enmity we can fight. He was a warrior throughout his life. He knew the objective of the war through logical mind and now with consciously fighting the same act which was as doer can change as non-doer. 180 degree shift in that. Change, which he is afraid of and again and again he is going into his logical mind. As with this change he will not be able to prove himself in front of anyone with logical mind. Remember I wrote in Bhagavad Gita Verse 2.15, mind is tiny and consciousness is vast, Krishna is just reminding him this distinction. Krishna in his utter emptiness holds Arjuna.

Rakshabandan – Renewal of Memories

 18 July 2019

Rakshabandan is nearing. I usually don’t celebrate but have tied few Rakhis to guys during School and College days. But now I don’t feel like tying Rakhi to anyone, after certain age I would not like to explicitly celebrate but would experience.Every year when Rakshabandan arrives, one person always run on my mind, my colleague. She is in different project. We started talking to each other during lunch and then started having lunch together, going for walk, or having coffee at evening. One day I was outside my office premise, ready to take bus, saw her coming from the opposite side of the road. Seeing me, she said, “I had gone to check the charge to courier Rakhi for my brother but they are charging too high, I will check some other Courier in my area”. Then we said bye and parted to our routes.Knowing her for few years, I got to know, every Rakshabandan, her sister in law would come with family to her place. My colleague, would be the most busiest person on that day, she will be preparing meals – starters, main course, dessert. They all celebrate together. She is used to this routine for years now. Once I asked her, “Don’t you wish to go to your home during Rakshabandan?”. She replied, “I would love to but being here is also important”. May be deep down, she wants to go to her home once during Rakshabandan but she has accepted and celebrate the day with her family.I always hope to hear a different story about Rakshabandan from her. Till then, every year, Rakshabandan will always remind me of my colleague who make this celebration a memorable one for her family!!

Bhagavad Gita Verse 2.22
 Dhwani Shah
 19 July 2019

Life Is Change - In Gita Verse 2.22 As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones.In this verse Krishna is speaking about the law of Change.Misery arises because we don't allow change to happen. We cling, we want things to be static. If you love a woman you want her tomorrow too, the same way as she is yours today. That´s how misery arises. Nobody can be certain about the next moment – what to say about tomorrow?A man of awareness knows that life is constantly changing. Life is change. There is only one thing permanent, and that is change. Except change, everything else changes. To accept this nature of life, to accept this changing existence with all its seasons and moods, this constant flow that never stops for a single moment, is to be blissful. Then nobody can disturb your bliss. It is your hankering for permanency that creates troubles for you. If you want to live a life with no change – you are asking the impossible.A man of awareness becomes courageous enough to accept the changing phenomena. In that very acceptance is bliss. Then all is good. Then you are never frustrated.Fear of Change:Every change creates fear, because every change is putting you into the unfamiliar, into a strange world. If nothing changes and everything remains static, you will never have any fear. That means, if everything is dead, you will not be afraid. For example, you are sitting down and there is a rock lying down. There is no problem: you will look at the rock, and everything is okay. Suddenly the rock starts walking; you become frightened. Aliveness! Movement creates fear; and if everything is unmoving, there is no fear. That’s why people, afraid of getting into fearful situations, arrange a life of no change. Everything remains the same and a person follows a dead routine, completely oblivious that life is a flux. He remains in an island of his own making in which nothing changes. The same room, the same photographs, the same furniture, the same house, the same habits, the same slippers – everything the same. The same brand of cigarettes; even a different brand you won’t like. Between this, amidst this sameness, one feels at ease.People live almost in their graves. What you call a convenient and comfortable life is nothing but a subtle grave. So when you start changing, when you start on the journey of inner space, when you become an astronaut of the inner space, and everything is changing so fast, every moment is trembling with fear. So more and more fear has to be faced.Let it be there. By and by you will start enjoying the changes so much that you will be ready at any cost. Change will give you vitality...more aliveness, zest, energy. Then you will not be like a pond...closed from everywhere, not moving. You will become like a river flowing towards the unknown, and towards the ocean where the river becomes lost.Arjuna when coming up with all his logical arguments clearly indicates that he got afraid of change. He wanted to live same miserable life. He wanted to live the life which was dictated by Kauravas. Their entire life they lived a life which was dictated by Kauravas.Recollect your life incidence when you were afraid of change you were not ready to move, so much of suffocation of physical, mental and emotional. For you life of slavery was okay than a life of freedom.Krishna is telling Arjuna to allow the change, which is only on the surface , your soul, your subjectivity needs freedom. They are unchangeable. Give up life which is dictated by others. Allow the Change.

Everyone owns a car these Days for their comfortable traveling. Then you must be aware that a car or any vehicle requires regular maintenance, same is with Air Conditioners. Every AC requires regular maintenance repair and care. Ac maintenance helps you save money on repair and replacement because maintaining your AC at regular period improves its efficiency as well as changing the air quality in your home. Now it’s time to take some break from winters as summers are coming very fast. Soon we all are going to get some relief from the heat of the sun through our centralized air conditioning system. AC maintenance is one of the biggest problems that most of the people face every summer they start using their AC. To overcome this problem we are discussing with you steps which need to follow before you switch on your AC.Be that as it may, it is likewise something which doesn’t enter our thoughts until it's as of now a searing summer and we need assurance from the warmth. Before you have to require a cooling administration to support your messed up or breaking down unit, ask yourself – how regularly would it be a good idea for me to support my climate control system?Depending on how old your AC unit is and whether there are any problems, there are suggested periods of time in which it should be serviced. This is required in order to avoid any larger subsequent issues and for it to be fully operational during the summer season.Importance of AC serviceHaving your AC unit checked consistently is advantageous in a few different ways. As a matter of first importance, it empowers the best possible working of the framework during pinnacle summer temperatures. By having it checked by a timetable, you will find out about any potential issue before it ends up genuine. As the AC system ages, it loses the original efficiency, which means it requires extra vitality to work appropriately. By routinely overhauling it, littler issues will be served so as to safeguard the effectiveness and result in possibly littler power bills. The frequency at which an ac unit should be serviced“How often should I service my air conditioner?” – this is the question we’re posed all the time. There are various pieces of an AC framework which require adjusting at various rates, yet specialists prescribe at least a yearly registration. Such a timetable is important for ideal execution. The angles which should be dealt with are channels, curls, loop blades, and blowers.FILTERS or CHANNELSEven after customary yearly maintenance, there are a few things you can do yourself to help the AC framework work ideally. To forestall a drop in the vitality proficiency, the air channels ought to be cleaned at regular intervals. There are various kinds of channels, and the measure of assembled stops up relies upon the use. Some of them can be cleaned and reused and others should be changed with new ones. If not cleaned like clockwork, at any rate, once a month is prescribed.COILSThe system comprises of two coils which can overheat if extreme dirt aggregates after some time. They are the evaporator loop and the condenser curl and they should be serviced once every year. In the event that this isn't done, it can cut down the general overall proficiency of the AC system.CURL FINSCurls are secured with aluminum blades, which are very delicate and can break easily. So as to anticipate the curl blades from bowing and hindering the airflow, customary service can make them remain in their unique shape and off the beaten path.BLOWERSWhen a blower overheats, it can have hazardous outcomes. This is another issue which can be averted with regular maintenance. How often should I service my air conditioning system? We have all the appropriate reasonsKeeping your air conditioning home system completely operational is the top need when you contract Action Air Conditioning, Heating, and Solar. Bhagavad Gita Verse 2.36
 Dhwani Shah
 2 August 2019

Choose - In Gita Verse 2.36 Your enemies will describe you in many unkind words and scorn your ability. What could be more painful for you?Krishna says if you decide to drop war and run away from the war - it only means that you are inviting disrespect for yourself. Your enemies will get a chance to enjoy the victory and with unkind words scorn your ability. It will be very painful. History is always written by winners and never by looser. So down the centuries the whole humanity will know you as a coward and fearful instead of your courage and sharp intelligence. We are the creators of our own destiny. Here if Arjuna remains unconscious irrespective of Krishna ‘s total effort then he will be disrespected for centuries. If he wakes up in his self-consciousness then he will be honored for centuries for his Assignment of Universe, Fighting Without Enmity. How we act makes lot of difference. Our this moments act will create our future. Perfection is a myth, while totality is reality.Perfection is a goal somewhere in the future while totality is an experience this very moment, in which your act is transformed into meditation and a beautiful prayer descends in your heart. The focus is that doing is with totality, which is the only way to transform the act into meditation and to transform the doing into a beautiful prayer.Krishna is telling Arjuna it is up to you and choose to be conscious or unconscious towards yourself. If you will be unconscious then also it’s your responsibility for the result and if you are conscious then too it is your responsibility towards the result. Right now you have a choice either to act from consciousness or unconscious once you take the step then you lose your freedom. In this moment you are free to choose. When Awareness Comes and the Light Comes, then there Is Freedom - There are three types of freedom:The first type of freedom at least pretends that there is some goal. Even the politician says, ‘We are fighting to be free – from this kind of society, this kind of structure, this kind of politics. We are fighting to be free from this society just to create another society. We are fighting for some goal, some value, some utopia, some ideology.’ Even he has to pretend that, because the negative cannot exist alone; at least the positive has to be talked about. So communism talks about a classless society, utopia, where everything will be beautiful, where paradise will have descended on the earth. It will take infinity, but that goal has to be given. Otherwise people will not fight for a negative freedom. So the negative implies the positive; and vice versa, the positive implies the negative. When you want to become a painter and your parents are not agreeing and your society thinks it is foolish, you have to fight with them. So freedom for will have something to do with freedom from; they both are together. This is the second type of freedom. The real freedom is the third kind, the transcendental freedom. What is that? It is neither from nor for; it is simply freedom. It is just freedom. That is moksha: just freedom. Neither against anybody – it is not a reaction; nor to create some future – there is no goal. One simply enjoys being oneself, for its own sake; it is an end unto itself. And that freedom is love, and that freedom is God. That freedom is nirvana, that freedom is truth. In that freedom you exist in God, God exists in you. Then nothing wrong can ever happen through you. Then your life is virtue. Then your very breathing is meditation. Then you walk and it is poetry. Then you sit silently and it is dance. Then you are a blessing to the world. You are blessed.Krishna is talking about the third type of freedom. Freedom which comes from awareness and light. In that you become capable of liberating yourself and others also. As Arjuna is in the war Krishna is saying that not only will you be liberated but others also who will be killed by you.
