I am a thriller freak. I am a person who will always pick up crime/mystery novels over contemporary fiction. I read some really good crime thrillers last year by Indian Author so when this opportunity (review copy) came to my door, I couldn’t refuse.
The plot is gripping and engrossing as it takes the readers into the world of crime, murder, and evil psychopath - Kansa. Forty pregnant women have been murdered along with their unborn children over a long span of time by Kansa. ACP Desai has been given the responsibility to solve this complex mystery.
The storyline was great, revolving around Kalki Hari, a resident of a little village on the outskirts of Keekatpur. Kalki is born the superhero, however he is ignorant of his strengths and heritage, his purpose of life!

The starting of the book was really promising though nearing the middle, it started becoming rushed and kind of choppy, as if the author wanted to quickly take us to the 'main area of action'. The characters seemed disconnected. The main appeal for me in a book is to be able to connect with them, empathize with them, see the world they're living in from their own eyes; that seemed to be missing in this work. ACP Saargi's character was good though, I liked her no bullshit, devoted attitude towards the well being of the citizens.
