“Every crime has two sides; one is evil and other is blindness”.

Synopsis

OVER A SPAN OF TEN YEARS, HE KILLED FORTY PREGNANT WOMEN AND THEN VANISHED WITHOUT A TRACE. AFTER FIVE YEARS OF SILENCE, HE IS BACK AGAIN, SEEKING HIS NEXT VICTIM. ONLY ONE MAN CAN STOP HIM – PROFESSOR BLACK.
Maher was found unconscious in the middle of the highway and later, in the hospital, she revealed that she had escaped from a killer’s house. All the details and patterns matched the serial killer ‘Kansa,’ who had disappeared five years ago after murdering forty pregnant women. ACP Saargi Desai was assigned to the case. She appealed to her department to bring back Professor Black to help her catch the killer. The Professor, who had a haunting past that had kept him away from the world of crime and investigation for several years, was not willing to take on this case. But the ACP managed to convince him to get on board just for this one last time. Soon after agreeing to help, the Professor realized that for the first time in his life, he had met his match. As he dug deeper into the case, everything got dirtier, the stakes went higher, and nothing was what it seemed.

My Take

I am a thriller freak. I am a person who will always pick up crime/mystery novels over contemporary fiction. I read some really good crime thrillers last year by Indian Author so when this opportunity (review copy) came to my door, I couldn’t refuse.

** Now, don’t even compare crime mysteries with authors like Agatha Christie or Scotland writers. No that’s a sin. Don’t COMPARE **

Kansa is the first book in “The Killer Trilogy” by Prassant Kevin (Not to be confused with Kevin Missal who wrote Kalki because I did receive some messages for this).

Well, the blurb of the book already gives out a lot about the story so I won’t get into that. But let’s just get into the positive and negative aspects.

The cover is what attracted me to the book. The first question that pops in your mind is “Who is this man?” , “Is Professor Black?”
I liked the execution of the plot. Quite frequently we find loopholes in crime thrillers and it makes the experience from very good to negative but that wasn’t the case with this one. The story goes in a flow and nothing is rushed or unnecessary. The author has spent a lot of time focusing on each and every aspect to make the book intriguing.

The font of the book is quite nice. It is readable and good to the eyes. The writing style is lucid. The author knows when to add a scene that will turn the tables and when to end it. That is exactly what happens at the end. The story ends at a point where I as a reader wanted more but will have to wait for the next book.

In all, I liked this book and would recommend if you like crime thrillers.
