Your search for Confidence
We, the Innocent ............. by Dr. Navniit Gandhi
 Navniit Gandhi
 17 February 2018

Wash your utensils with this dish-cleaner and sparkle your relationships…There is saffron in the soap…There is chocolate in this shampoo… there are almonds in the face cream!Drink this tea and refresh your relationships…Drink this soft-drink and live without fear…What fools are we, at times!!!All along, some of us have wasted our time; many precious years of life, trying to find out how to lead a perfect life… Probably, you too must have spent hours, trying to understand relationships, love and life. How stupid we have been… All we could have done is to switch on the Television, and sit before it with total faith. Yes, with total faith in our advertisements!!! We could have had the keys to all that we ever wanted in life. The key to beauty; to success; to a happy family life; the key to popularity and the key to health and blossoming relationships—all could have been at our feet in a matter of a few hours… How very silly of us, that we work hard and undergo ordeals and struggles, to fulfil our aspirations!God, bless us. We know not how innocent we are! The noble companies and even nobler advertising agencies are crying hoarse, and trying to better our lives. And, we don’t take them seriously? Using music, Bollywood stars and attractive photography—they spend crores trying to make all our dreams come true, and we do not take the ads seriously?Didn’t they tell us…Spray this deodorant and girls will fall head-over-heels in love with you…Eat this cereal and your husband will start noticing you…Add this in your children’s milk and they will become great scientists!Use this fairness cream and the most handsome and eligible bachelor will be at your feet…If you drink a particular beverage daily, your Boss will be impressed and you could take a trophy home for outstanding performance…It is all so clearly stated. The world of TV Ads is a great teacher. Just sit down… relax… and carefully watch the ads. We can learn how to magically swirl ten mouth-watering dishes—one or two each for every family member and yet, not a drop of sweat shall we shed or a strand of hair move. How? Because the secret, as we would learn, would lay in the dish-washing soap!Have you not seen the ad which teaches us that if we use a particular washing-powder, husband and wives would love each other more? How? Because, the clothes would become softer and so would the hands of the lady….But, what if the washing powder is used by the maid? Would her husband love her more, or ours???? Women, take note of this puzzle!!!Oh no! How much time have we wasted trying to seriously think on some matters, whereas the solutions and lessons were all so very simple!Had we known this secret earlier, we would have had the pleasure of seeing our mothers always young, fresh and happy despite their daily laborious chores. We could have had friends drooling over our looks, and we could have made smarter choices!!! Our brain could have been sharper; our nails and hair glistening; our clothes smarter; our body odour captivating; our sleep peaceful; our taste buds rejuvenated and of course, our relationships, happier. How innocent we have been… Imagine, the key to freedom from pimples, wrinkles, and fine lines was just a remote away!Use this tooth paste-- dance and swirl and live happily thereafter…Take a loan from our bank and we will help you discover the real ‘you’…This toilet cleaner will sparkle your bathroom and your life…There are easy and readymade formulae for increasing the growth of the brain of our children… There are easy solutions for killing germs in ten seconds!! And then, our children would never fall ill even if they gulp pizzas or burgers daily. Wish we could have sat before the televisions with total faith…. We could have given our children filtered water (using modern complicated processes) and they could have topped in their respective classrooms. Are you one of those who were searching in vain for means to raise your self-esteem? Well, did you not know that with a certain brand of tea, courage and confidence comes; and with a certain soft-drink—come tumbling out clever and creative ideas? A certain can of paint is what it takes or perhaps, a bathroom-freshner to raise your esteem in the eyes of your neighbours… Ha, how easy it is, isn’t it?Watch the Advertisements for solutions to all your problems… for answers to all your questions!!! It is not too late.Ah, by the way—have you been looking for a way out to please your in-laws? Oh, ohhh…. All you had to do was prove your intelligence by using a particular mosquito coil, and pride would have surfaced in their eyes and they would have hugged you happily!!!

Psychology behind fashion
 Vanshika Garg
 23 February 2018

Do you know clothing is something thataffects your behavior, attitude, personality, mood, confidence, and even the way we interact with others? If no, then think ...What you wear affects you psychologically. We all take a little extra effort to look nice for special occasions; it can extremely alter your mood. It also influences how others respond to you. And the visual image created by the style and fabric dramatically changes the appearance of your body. Your clothes can affect your job prospects, your life and even your self-image. Science of fashion physiology now suggests that how we dress may just be the difference between giving ourselves the extra edge in our professional and personal lives. And yes, that applies to men too.He looks spoiled brat. She looks so arrogant. She looks cheap. He looks mean. I can tell she is unconscionable. We make quickly make judgments about people from the clothes they wear, on what basis? Simple, on the basis of clothes and the appearance.Have you ever been told that you can judge a man by his shoes, do you know how? If shoes are unpolished shabby this indicates carelessness and a very casual attitude. If laces are too tight it shows that you are very rigid, if laces are untied it indicates indecisive nature. There is much more to our clothing choices than we might imagine. For many people, what they wear is only a matter of habit, but when we dress in the morning or going somewhere like in party, office or even for shopping it might pay us to be a little more careful in the choices we make. Doing experiments with your clothes and trying out something different might be a way of changing the impression others have of you.My wardrobe says a lot about me. Did yours? If not then think again, because what you wear can inform passersby of your type of employment, as well as your ambitions, emotions and spending habits. So guys, you are the Person what you wear, because your clothes reveal all about you. Shopping and spending behaviors often come from internal motivations such as emotions, experiences and culture.“dress for the dream job you want, not the job you have” and “ always look good, feel good”

Below is my script, which I had delivered in my club level contest of Toastmaster International speech contest. For the knowledge of the readers, I would like to say that Toastmasters International (TI) is a US headquartered nonprofit educational organization that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of helping members improve their communication, public speaking, and leadership skills. Writing stories and writing scripts for speeches are two different things. In speeches, the speaker has to take the challenge to involve her audience throughout the speech and she has to communicate everything within 7 mins of her talk. Audience may lose interest if the opening is not good and if the script timing goes beyond 7 mins, then audience may feel bored. So, this script provides some guidelines to a speaker.... Hope the readers will enjoy it:Title: The phoenixOpening:4th Jan1986, Odisha, a girl was born with lots of dreams in her eyes. Dreams to be the best daughter to her parents  …. Dreams to be the best Engineer the world has ever seen….dreams to bring a change in the nation …. Dreams to do the best of her life …. N  Dreams to be a wonderful wife……………………Everything was going fine as planned until 2014 when this girl caught a disease ………….. her dreams started dying, her faith in love started dying, her trust for her parents started losing and worst of all , she even thought of ending it……Eventually After 2 years of struggle  that sweet innocent girl ……died a suffocating death.Body:Good afternoon Honorable Contest Chair, fellow toastmasters and dear guests. In one of those chilly evening on November 2016, she was reborn as an independent woman with self-respect, one who takes her own decisions ……4 years back, life had put her at a turning point where one decision that she took made her disgrace for everyone……… worse even disgrace to her parents. What was that one wrong decision that changed her life………….? What was that disease that killed her happiness…??Her mistake was she decided to say no to domestic violence after marriageShe decided to not tolerate her drunkard husband’s beatings every night, she decided to not tolerate her father in law stopping her to talk to her family members, she decided not to ask her parents for more dowry, she decided not to tolerate her mother in law’s giving her high voltage electric shocks. She had lost her mental peace and freedom, which had huge negative impact on her professional career. How difficult to bear all those? How painful those moments were?? Losing individuality and living means a spiritless life with a moving physical body, that means you are living like a dead body!!!When she looked back to get the ANegative Situation Wisely Experiencing Reversal she could see that she had very little control over what happened. The seasons of her experience had to run their course – severe winter storms, cold and darkness, then the seeds hidden from within started beginning to sprout (very exciting!). The best she could do was ride the waves, which she did with varying degrees of success. She saved all her strength to swim with the tide and to flow with the grace that washed through her days, raising all her quills to defend against invaders. She took this on faith. All she used is a pair of eyes unblinkered by fear, apprehension and prejudice. Fighting with herself went on in each and every moment, hour and day, to come out from her demon created by herself since her birth. To come out from the attitude to care about ‘what will people say?’Transformation was not sweet and bright. It was dark, murky, painful and pushing. A practice in facing our own created demons.  A complete uprooting, before becoming. She turned her demons into art, her fears into fuel, her mistakes into teachers and her weaknesses into reasons to keep us fighting. She did not waste her pain, instead recycled her heart!!!Situation in life might had defeated her, burnt her, insulted her, injured her and abandoned us. But,  they will not, shall not and cannot destroy her, like a Phoenix she knows how to surrect. Lakshmi Agarwal, JK Rowling, Muniba Mazari and many more are the phoenixes who emerges from the ashes….Now, after 4 yrs, she can see herself as an independent woman who spreads her messages on how to fight with themselves among those women who try to commit suicide due to various reasons whether she is a rape survivor or has become physically disabled and lost her confidence to live her life. She says them “We do not need magic to transform our world. We carry all of the power we need inside ourselves already. The world is full of wonderful things you havenot seen yet. Don’t ever give the chance of seeing them. You are not a victim, you are a survivor. The man who attacked you will cover his face. You wont. While we women get busy in playing our predefined roles, we forget to love ourselves, we forget our worth and we don’t realize that there is so much more we can do for ourselves and for the people around us.”Conclusion:Ladies and Gentlemen,As said by Lao Tzu “New beginnings are disguised as painful endings.”What’s perceived as painful and undesirable, often paves the way for something better – and if not better, at least different. In difference, lies life’s momentum and progress. Traumatic occurrences always have a disguised positive side to them. Hidden opportunities make us more determined and fills us with life-preserving energy. Until we’re jolted out of our peaceful slumber, no epoch event can be expected to happen.Desire changes Nothing, Decision changes Something. But Determination changes Everything.Desire changes Nothing, Decision changes Something. But Determination changes Everything.Over to Emcee…

Depression In Life
 Rahul Yadav
 9 March 2018

" Rukh Zindagi ne mor lia kesa , humne socha nhi tha kbhi esa. Ata nhi yakeen kya se kya ho gya , kis tarah mei tujhse yuh bewafa ho gya. Insaf kar do ,mujhe maaf kardo." It's 2:45 am, the silence around me is bliss, no noise, the lyrics are taking me to a different world and I started fighting my internal demons. We often tend to neglect our mental health. One of the most common illness that is overlooked is depression. People think depression is sadness. People think depression is crying. People think depression is dressing in black. But people are wrong. You toss and turn in your bed so that sinking feeling in your stomach goes away, but it doesn't. You wish your mind could just stop thinking, just for a moment, so you can trick your mind into falling asleep but it doesn't. It hasn't for 3 months now. You remind yourself of happy memories, but there don't seem to be any. The more you try to remember, the more miserable it feels. The worst part is, you don't know what caused this storm. Could it be the recent heartbreak? Or the fact that you've lost all your friends? Is it that you've lost all confidence in life. And that's what keeps you up all night. There's a sense of permanence in turmoil. It doesn't seem like it's ever going to be okay. Days aren't really days; they are just annoying obstacles that need to be faced. And how do you face them? Through drinking, through smoking, through drugs, through cutting. When you're depressed, you grasp on to anything that can get you through the day. Everything's going wrong all at once. With every step you take, your world collapses a little more. Nobody knows what you're going through, no matter how much they pretend to. They can't see what's hiding behind your smile. How can they not? You know what depression really feels like? Nothingness. It feels empty - zilch. There's nothing inside you, nothing around, nothing to look forward to. Nothing to fall back on. Nothing that you can see.

The Room - Will you visit before it's too late ?

THE ROOM19 year old Nishantis worried as he enters the room with his mom, its 6 pm in the evening he has bunked a couple of classes to get to the venue, the sun is almost down but he still has his shades on.  He picks up a quiet corner further away from everyone and hopes the earth would swallow him.58 year old chatty Betty is on the other side. She is very blissful. She picks up conversations with almost everyone in the room. She is very friendly.35 year old Khushbu is also present. She is busy observing everyone, her so called fellow roommates, the receptionist, the general vibrations and the aura. She is very proud to get to the “room”.So where actually are they? Where one is worried of being spotted another proud and yet another totally blissful!! Let me give you a brief snippet of their lives.Nishant has had phenomenal performance in his academics. He has always topped the class. He has got into the best engineering college in the country. He has plans to set up his own start up dot com. He is introvert by nature but in this digital world who cares?! He is very close to his family and loves them dearly.Off late he worries a lot of the well being of his family members so much so that he checks on them almost every one hour. He believes every single minute that they are going to die. He feels there will be an earthquake or a road accident any minute and his family members will be affected. It took Nishant’s mom a lot of persuation to ask Nishant come along. He is worried on whether he should share this encounter in the room with his girlfriend at all.Betty is a wonderful lady with a heart of gold. She has a degree in chartered accountancy. She is the apple eyed girl of her father. She was responsible for setting up her paternal family’s business.  Albeit she found her prince charming sooner than expected and settled down for domesticity at the tender age of 21.All the same she is very knowledgeable and can have rich stimulating conversations from fashion to politics. Her problem is she is confused of her identity and family lineage. She believes she comes from royal family and nobody in her world is real. She believes that her mother is a queen who did not want to take care of her as she did not love her and in turn left her with her current foster parents. This of course is her imagination. She is more than happy to come to the room as she believes she is going to meet a queen.Khushbu is a young dynamic advertising professional. She has everything going right for her. She is blessed to have a supporting family, awesome children and a husband to die for. She is an omnivert if I may coin a behavioral term for her!! Well that means she is approachable and friendly yet does not blend in easily. She does not care what anybody thinks of her and speaks her mind. She is extremely self assured and leaves no stone unturned to fulfil her goals. She has a wide range of capabilities right from dancing, swimming to driving to name a few.All this suddenly disappears when she left by herself. She is always second guessing herself and is very anxious of being lonely. This has led to endless sleepless nights, frustration ultimately leading to bouts of violence. She feels so wretched at times that she contemplates suicide every second day. One minute she is happy next minute she is sad. She is totally clueless on what she will feel next. This roller coaster of emotions brings her to “the room”. She is glad she made it after a lot of contemplation. My guess is you have a guess by now (Pun intended) ! Welcome to the therapist’s clinic!! Do Nishant, Betty and Khushbu have a life situation that warrants a visit to the therapist? Are they having any crisis? Is there a financial loss? Is there a loss of a loved one? Is there a severe health failure?  Is there anything out of order at all dear readers in their lives? Now all of situations may well qualify for a psychological health crisis. An issue which exists but is not easily validated. Socially there is a refusal to classify it as a disease. Unlike Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Immunity Disorder, Cancer and so on and so forth there are no symptoms that the body will give out. Quiet contrarily here is absolutely no physical manifestation at all in all of the above cases.Technically they are not “crazy”, “mad” or “abnormal”. They are highly capable individuals. Well what separates them a little bit from most is that their thoughts run a tad more than us. Are not all of us a little weird? Do not all of us have some type of anxiety, imagination or lack of confidence. That’s all that’s about it. Would you give them company in the room without being apprehensive about judgment? It’s a actually a non starter. We all have a taboo about therapist, shrink or in need of a better word clinical psychologist. We are all worried about social acceptance having visited the therapist once. In fact it may even feature in our “dark secrets” that is allowed only the deepest recesses of our minds and hearts. We refuse to share, talk, discuss leave alone consultation. In fact it is so great an outlaw that we are not able to see our own tell tale signs of psychological inadequacies. We continue to lead a life filled with anxiety, depression, insomnia, addiction, stress needless to say and many more forms of emotional upheavals.Somehow when we think a psychotherapist we only think of a person who is deranged who is haggard who is not successful who is probably chained who is hostile who is demented the list is endless. They are the ones who get help because their inadequacies are on display. The ones who really suffer are the ones who cannot see that we don’t have to be psychotic to visit the therapist. We just need to want a better life. We are totally unaware of a much better joyous life that we may have if we care to pay attention to the needs of our mind. For this we need to lift the rose tinted glasses on our perception of “normalcy”. The irony of life is we are abnormally worked up about normalcy!!We need to revamp our approach to therapy. We need to believe that it’s ok to visit a therapist. Why should we deprive ourselves of a good life? The more we address it, talk about it and discuss it the more we improve our lives.Last but not the least! No! We don’t have to worry about changing the lives of the ones who are in the room. They are already the winners. We actually are talking about the lives of the ones who don’t visit and appear alright.  That very well may be us!!We all have that one emotion that we cannot handle. We all have that one compulsive disorder that we cannot change. We all have that one fear we cannot get over. It is all about our mind and our soul.If you dear readers don’t feel up to it don’t wait! Wake up, get going and visit the room. Get a life!#smblogcontest

Human Relations
 Lilly Thakur
 20 March 2018

All of us read newspapers and watch TV daily so I do. Every person has different choices someone would like to see the sports page first whereas someone may like to see the stock page first. The news that attracts my attention in the newspaper is which is based on human relations it could be on political grounds, social grounds or even personal groundsYou might have seen an advertisement coming these days on television where a boss called Mr. Hari Sadu throws a paper on his colleague the same person spells Hari Sadu asH for Hitler A for arrogant R for rascal and I for an idiot. While the person is spelling his name the face of the Boss just worth looking at the boss’s face becomes blankWhy so?Every person should watch this advertisement honestly and realize – If he is not Hari Sadu in all walks of life?It is very easy to point a finger at others but very difficult to understand that if I am pointing one finger at others at the same time my three fingers are pointing back at me.It is a fact that human relations in all walks of life have been affected badly because of many reasons these days if we try to find out the reasons we may make a huge list.It is not important to know what are the reasons, which are affecting human relations; a rather important thing is how we can improve themI am not a human relations expert but I certainly live in this world and am a part of relationships, therefore, I would like to share my views with you all1- Stress- How many of us feel stress daily? Almost all of us feel stress daily the reasons may be different for each individual. Some of us may be having stress in office may have a Boss like Mr. Hari Sadu. The stress felt in office becomes a part of home atmosphere when the person comes back to home and is gloomy, wife asks the reason why he is sad instead of answering her softly husband shouts back at the wife the anger which should have been given back to boss is thrown at the face of innocent wife who has no fault but since she is wife she has no option and hence she takes it as her fate and that is the first sign of bad relations between husband and wife. The situation could have been handled perfectly if the husband could have left his office stress in office only.We must learn to keep a difference between office and home atmosphere.CHANGE-- The other day I was watching a Sanjay Dutt starrier movie ShaqueHe spoke a very beautiful line—Log Kyun badal jatte hain kamyabi ke sath?Does it happen?Yes it happens almost in 90% casesCan you change your father, mother, brother, sister, wife? Of course you can’t changeBut you can certainly change your selfWe expect a lot from othersOften I hear one line very frequently – eisa mere saath hi quin hota hai mai hi kyun change karun yeh kyun nahi change hote? The answer is very simple-You cant change others better change your self immediately and keep on trying you will find positive results a very slow process but very sure one.FORGET, FORGIVE AND GIVE THANKSIs it very difficult to forgive?Seems yes?No, it is not all one need is courage to accept the facts and a will to understand the reason as to-What made another person to commit the mistake? If we put our selves in other's shoes and try to understand the conditions as to what made him to make this mistake and instead of firing we forget and forgive him the chances are that person will be careful in future and will try not to commit a mistakeForgive many things in others—but nothing in your selfIf you don’t forgive friends a day will come when you don’t have any friendsForgiveness is happiness forgive and forget very simpleBut we do not want to do simple things. We want to complicate our lives, as we become more and more successful. The decision to forgive and forget yourself or someone else is like taking any other decision. One can take it in one second or after going through years of agony and heartburn. The choice is yoursAlso, make a habit of thanking as and when required-How many of us seen Muna Bhai M.B.B.S?If seen then you must be remembering Jadu Ki jhapki?Very effective oneNever hesitate to give Jadu ki jhapki it works wonderfullyCertainly, don’t try with young girls may work otherwiseTRUST AND CONFIDENCE-Trust and confidence are two words we have often say and listen in daily life but do we know how to trust or do have the courage to trust? It is a million-dollar questionAlmost 90% problems today can be solved if we start trustingAsk your self a simple Q- Do you trust your friends, relatives or even employeesNobody will deny it but if we are honest with our selves we will notice we lack thisVery few have the courage to trust and have confidence in relations. Someone find it difficult to admit the mistake or desire thinking if I tell how will other take it.It is a human tendency we assume a lot we assume that if I tell my mistake or my desire to my partner he/she will shout at me and my relations may start becoming worse day by day which results in 1- we suppress our desires2- we try to full fill our desires by hiding these from our partnersIn both the cases, we are the losers In the first case, we killed our desire and become looserAnd in the second case, we have taken the wrong path by hiding it and have started living in an atmosphere of uncertainty that always has a fear what will happen if he/she comes to know? What will happen if someone comes to know and tell my partner? Now you are living a life where neither you can enjoy fully nor you can sleep happilyI have a friend very jolly man is about 100kg in weight loves fun and love to have beer al the time's wife too is very beautiful love to have parties and very talkative once in a party I asked her why don’t you stop this man from drinking too much? She replied he is grown up and knows what is good for him I need not interfere in this. The same answer my friend gave when someone told him that I saw his wife traveling in a car with someone else. He simply replied I know her she won't do anything wrongTHAT IS THE TRUST AND CONFIDENCE WE NEED TO HAVEOne must realize one thing trust is never built in a day it may take full life to build up relations but it will take one second to break the relations if trust and confidence is hurt therefore one must be very careful when trust and confidence is at stakeTo lead a happy life—shak ko relations me nahi aane deejiye share kariye feelings rasta zarur niklega

The yesterday's -She- and today's -She
 Pratik Dhawalikar
 11 April 2018

The yesterday's "She" and today's "She" have not been changed just in time, but this change is consistent and comprehensive compared to yesterday. Today's woman breaks the old bondageand challenge her for the new bondage, and she was already in the sky, but she now had a new model and new opportunities for herself.     Today, "she" is a woman in her family and there are many steps ahead of her husband, and yet her ambition is not to shed the seeds of "female-oriented culture" or to not "attack male-dominant culture", " "It is to cultivate, expand, and bring such equality in thought and action.Women have always been presumed because of male-dominated culture, but today, she has herself rid herself of this culture and ideas and is inspired by the ideas of equality, universal brotherhood.     Today she herself is an inspiration. She has been patiently accepted yesterday and today. She is responsible for the creation of "Good tomorrow" along with other women and men. Today she has a strong positive energy source and confidence. Today, in her thoughts, openness is unqualified. An extraordinary difference is created in her ability to think. Due to these things, "she" today is composed of a separate idea. Her own identity and image have been created today. "She" is the leader in many areas today. Her life is not limited to just her 'housewife', but she is today a "very rich and professional housewife".      Today, women are making their own lives and others along with them. A woman never thinks of herself because she is not primarily her own, but today the woman is thinking of herself, trying to do something new in life, and feel free to welcome this thought. She has made many changes in her own positive changes, her lifestyle is changing, and as a man, you have to respect all those things.Today, the work of the women and the labor of women in the country where there is a diverse culture-like culture and variety of variety has always been given secondary importance. Today's women want to change this thing permanently and should take care of their work as a person and expect them to be respected in the society. In addition, her dream is to be recognized by the "Indian woman" tomorrow all over the world. All these things should be started by every Indian citizen from his own house. Till date, men's society has taken women and given secondary position.      Today every person in the family has supported the "woman" of his family, understanding the restrictions on her, the extra responsibilities of her, and liberated her from her and encouraged her to live her way, whereas India has been named as the country of "Male and Female Culture" in just a few years. And in this case both men and women will be equally involved in this.

Bridge the gap between education and skill development
 StoryMirror Feed
 28 April 2018

StoryMirror interviewed Bringle Academy that are striking to bring a learning revolution. Here is what they have to say.Tell us about your journey and why BRINGLE started?India is relatively young as a nation with around 28 million youth population being added every year. There is a surge in the implementation of educational technologies for improving student learning. Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life: the means because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one's awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behaviour to understanding one's rights – and in the process help him/her evolve as a better citizen. Doubtless, education is the most powerful catalyst for social transformation. But child education cannot be done in isolation. Thus began the idea of bridging the gap between education and skills development in 2016. We strive to transform lessons into engaging student-centered, active learning experiences. We began our journey of combining technology with education at Thane, Maharashtra with one center. Our main focus was quaint computer courses and six sigma green and black belt courses. We found our purpose when a young adult with cerebral palsy joined us to learn computers. It was a challenging situation for us to alter our pedagogy and create a learning environment for him. Perhaps most importantly, educators should demonstrate a great deal of emotional support and patience and utilize effective teaching strategies for students with cerebral palsy. Providing positive academic feedback, assisting students in developing friendships with general education peers, and communicating frequently with parents and therapists are all ways that teachers can inspire confidence and success in students with cerebral palsy. Being a catalyst for a Cerebal Palsy dreamer to fulfill his dreams has been our biggest reward so far.Bringle Academy strives to bring a learning revolution, with our core philosophy of ‘Growing with Grace’, which can be achieved through self-improvement and skill enhancement. Individualism vs. Collectivism
 Anuradha Singh
 16 May 2018

A few days back I read once again Ayn Rand’s Fountainhead, when I had read it earlier as a school going child I had not understood it at all. I had found it silly and boring; the old copy was still lying in the corner of my father’s bookshelf. My hand stretched involuntarily to pick up the yellow-paged old book a few days back. I started reading it late in the evening and kept at it into the night to finish in a readathon (like marathon) manner. This time I saw the book anew. It was fresh and ringed of issues and thoughts which are relevant even today, as they were at that time, in 1957, and I think they will be still relevant for years to come. The Russian immigrant writer was strong-willed, intelligent and years ahead of her time. The philosophical novel which she wrote then invited much criticism but soon it gained lots of popularity and sold millions of copies.  I feel the story of the protagonist though larger than life, why I am saying larger than life as the feelings, conditions, the circumstances which he goes through are little hard to find in today’s world. Many people go through times when they have to succumb to societal pressures, make deal with their ideas, priorities and sooner or later they do it for the sake of their family, friends, careers and what not. But Fountain head’s hero is not ready for a compromise. Not as a student, never as a professional. He is at war with the complete society. He does not give up even after being jobless, alone and broke. It is an amazing read, and I will not venture further. Those who have read it will understand the points which I have mentioned. Those who have not read it, I suggest should read it.Here I want to draw out the philosophy of Fountainhead. Ayn Rand supports individualism on the face of collectivism. It is hard to digest for an Indian, as all other societies but predominantly Indian’s have always been supporting collectivism. We have been always taught to sacrifice, bend, compromise for the sake of family, society, organization and many more. As psychology says a man is a social animal and likes to live in groups. Since the period when a man was a caveman he learned a lesson that if he has to survive then he should live in groups, otherwise he does not have a chance in front of the wild animals. The lessons taken in the jungle worked wonderfully till man dwelled in a cave. It gave him security, protection, recognition, power and many more. But once the wheel was made, the fire was ignited, mines were dug, and houses were constructed things changed. The civilized world came into being, with it came rules and regulations.  Discipline was ingrained and customs and traditions became prevalent and then staunch for the smooth running of the society. But, then it was possible for a man to live independently, think independently and work also. When I say independently it does not mean, to live like Robinson Crusoe alone on an island with no contact with the world. That is something totally different; it is a disorder if you choose to do it while living in this usual friendly world. When I say think independently means to take certain decisions, which could be distinct, advanced and revolutionary. It may not fit in with the run of the mill, prevalent set of thinking or working culture of a particular society. But if an individual finds it correct, if he or she has complete faith in his work, concept, project or whatever decision he or she has taken then that individual should go ahead with it with complete confidence. In short ‘dare.’In our own country, India and a huge list of foreign countries we have examples wherein we can see that since time immemorial society has ridiculed, tortured, outcasted individuals with advanced ideas which were completely strange, foreign to that generation. There is a long list, right from Galileo, the Wright Brothers, Edison, Marie Currie, Edward Jenner and many more had to go through great pains and efforts to make people realize the importance of their work. In India as well there have been many great men and women who have been educators, reformists, social workers, businessmen whose work was at first trashed but later on understood and hence accepted by people. Why is it so that people are not ready to accept anything new? I think one of the problems which I can perceive lies in the psyche. We humans or even animals get conditioned to a certain routine, habits, weather and almost everything. If we are doing a certain chore every day, or we have been listening about a certain notion over the years, coming down from parents, grandparents and so on; then our mind and even our body accept it without any resistance. In other words, we can say this is the training of a kind. Our body and mind get prepared to see and then accept certain things in a certain way. As in Fountainhead, the Americans of that time were used to see and hence build completely orthodox, conformist kind of buildings which is why they were not liking and hence opposing the innovative ideas of Howard Roark. Some are so influenced by a certain style of living, that they get upset and so angry and jealous to see innovation. Sometimes, these sensitive minds can see or judge that the idea in front of them is fantastic but they are not willing to change, they do not want to come out of their comfort zone. Here again, I will give an example of the manipulative journalist Ellsworth Toohey of Fountainhead. Just because he didn’t appreciate or understand Roark’s independent thinking, his revolutionary ideas, Toohey tried his level best to finish Roark. In the real world also, where we dwell, there are certain elements like Toohey who do not welcome fresh ideas. But I firmly believe that if we look at today’s world analytically, the progress which it has made in leaps and bounds is because of a germ of an idea, vision, a dream seen by an individual. It is very rare that a dream is carried forward by a society as a whole.  It is always initially an individual dream, may be taken up by the society much later. If the individual manages to convince the society of his dream then it propels into a nationwide, statewide revolutionary idea, but never in the beginning. With assurance, I say that individualism, (as in liberty to try new things, set on a new path, try new ways at looking at this good old world) is much greater and better way of living. It should be allowed, helped, propagated and seen as navigators of the progressive world. Collectivism may have helped us in certain situations; where great upheaval is required to turn the old world structure into a new one. But here, I must point out; even this great revolution is always started by one man, one situation. To be always be trapped in the shackles of society’s beliefs, their likings, their fears, their conceptions or misconceptions, how far one can carry this heavy load. There will always come a time when one would like to dump the load and think and move freely.  After all, we are genetically distinct from the sheep which follows each other with precision. We are at the peak of the ecosystem because of the structure of our brain. This boiling pot requires fresh ideas for sustenance, as only change is constant and always needed. A caterpillar which is green colored transforms into iridescent blue and does not stay green.By Anuradha Singh.

Interview With Revathi Raj Iyer
 Ayushi A Nair
 21 June 2018

Revathi Raj Iyer is a freelance writer, book reviewer, company director, service volunteer and yoga/fitness enthusiast. Professionally qualified as Company Secretary (India & New Zealand) with legal background, she has worked in the corporate field for over a decade. Bombay is her hometown and Baroda her abode after marriage. When she moved to Fiji Islands, she bid adieu to a rewarding career with a multinational to become a full time mum and pursue her twin passions, yoga and writing. She worked as lecturer of Laws at the University of Fiji. Living between NZ and Fiji, she pursued writing and yoga training and continues her passion after moving to India. She lives in Ahmedabad, India and has completed her next book which is a collection of short stories. Her dream is to write books for children.A couple of easy questions to begin with…First off,  What inspired you to write “My Friendship with Yoga”?Physical activity was dominant in my life right from an early age, as a trained classical dancer, which continued until my late twenties. Thereafter it took a back seat, when I became engrossed with my career together with being hands-on mum to a lovely little daughter alongside other demands that needed my attention. However, things changed when we moved to Fiji Islands, and I got back into fitness with intense aerobics and strength training. As destiny would have it, a disciple of Yogacharya BKS Iyengar was deputed to Fiji to introduce this ancient tradition to the people of Fiji. Yoga was at my door step and I embraced it with heartfelt love. I started writing my yoga journal. One fine day, I decided to give a formal structure to my jottings to reach out to a wider audience. As I wrote the book I had no idea of the publishing process, but I was focussed on my goal. “My Friendship with Yoga” thus took shape and was launched on the 10th January, 2017 at the New Delhi World Book Fair. Thanks to Lifi Publications for making this happen! How do you see writing, as a hobby or a passion?I find writing very therapeutic and it also makes me happy. It is passion that drives me to enter that lonely space, which I beautify with words, plot and characters to create a story. Is yoga a way of life or a way to exercise and meditateYoga and meditation are a way of life for a holistic and healthy lifestyle. It is not instant therapy or about perfecting the postures. It is much more than that.  One has to go through a process of learning – patiently and persistently; and observe the changes it brings about in oneself. Please tell us some more about your debut novel?“My Friendship with Yoga” is about my progression from learning under an instructor to achieving confidence in self-practice and sharing my varied experiences with readers. I have presented the complicated aspects of yoga in a lucid style with practical hints so as to cater book lovers of all age groups and skill levels. The book is divided into three parts:Narrative which combines the physical, psychological and spiritual aspects of yoga, wherein a selection of topics along with interesting anecdotes have been coveredThe 2nd Part has more than 80 postures with steps to attain these, guidelines, tips, techniques and benefits; keeping in mind yoga enthusiasts, beginners as well as those who have been practising yoga. The 3rd Part consists of the much desired weekly practice schedule written sequentially with clear instructions to enhance one’s practice. What has yoga done for you as a person?Yoga has helped me to deal with a given situation in a pragmatic and dispassionate manner. It has enabled me to let go of the past and negative emotions, be more positive and result-oriented and direct my energies towards my creative pursuit and other commitments. Yoga has certainly helped in making me acknowledge and appreciate the choices I have made so far, and offered me a healthier and more content lifestyle. What sort of research did you do to write this book?I have been reading books on yoga, but “My Friendship with Yoga,” is the outcome of my entire learning process, from the disciple of BKS Iyengar and instructors from the West. My effort was to present the complicated aspects of yoga in simple language that would appeal to readers of all age groups and skill levels. Yoga is not about perfection as different bodies react in a certain way to a certain posture. To that end, my thought process kept evolving during the entire course of my writing. I made several drafts until I was fully satisfied that I had done justice to my work. For each and every asana which has been illustrated in the book, I consciously performed them and wrote down the steps. Every single breath, every movement, position, the sequence had to be accurate. How did you come up with the title of the book “My Friendship with yoga”?It came straight from the heart; in fact I did not falter or ponder over the title. I began writing this book with its title in place. The title was a reminder to simplify yoga and it guided me in writing a user and reader friendly book, which has been appreciated by the reviewers and readers. Fortunately, my publishers were also happy with the title and did not suggest any changes.Besides writing, what else do you do in your free time?Besides writing and reading books; I practice yoga, support my publisher in the promotion of my book, review books for Muse India, handle professional commitment as Director of a company, travel and spend time with my family. I love to bake and cook, and feel delighted when the outcome exceeds my expectations Do you recall the first ever book/novel you read?I don’t recall the title of the first book, but I started off with the Enid Blyton series, followed by Agatha Christie. Were your parents reading enthusiasts who gave you a push to be a reader as a kid?My mum read a lot and I would accompany her to the local lending library. She was not pushy but I gradually picked up the habit and enjoyed those evening walks to the library after school, with my best friend. She will get nostalgic when she reads this! What are your top three favorite books of all time?It is hard to pick just 3, as I have so many favorites. Hmmm….. The Little Prince, Kite Runner, Reluctant Fundamentalist, Namesake…As a new author, what is your favorite part of the writing/ publishing process? Least favorite. My favorite part is the writing itself and working hand-in-glove with the publishers; the book launch being the icing on the cake. My least favorite part is to face rejections without knowing the reason for it, after waiting for months to hear from publishers. What is the main thing you want readers to take away from your book?To understand the pure essence and simplicity of yoga, without feeling intimidated or inadequateAs mentioned in the book, “Yoga is not about perfection. It is a very enjoyable bonding with our body and mind that teaches us to be resilient and patient.”I would like you to share something about yourself with the readers. Something that does not go in the about the author section something that is the real you?I dream a lot and wish that all my dreams came true, hahaha…And finally, A message for aspiring writers?“Rejections are a part of the whole process of being ultimately accepted and acknowledged, as a writer. Please do not give up, no matter what, and pursue your passion, despite the road blocks. Think of the book lovers and connect with them. Write for them and the passion will always be with you.”Thank you. It was really a privilege interviewing you.  Ayushi A Nair
 31 July 2018

Book Title: NAVARASAAuthor:Vinaya PatilFormat: Paper BackTotal Number of Pages: 100Language: EnglishPublisher: HALF BAKED BEANPublishing Date: 4 June 2018ASIN: B07DHB2256Know your Rasa while you enjoy reading a story about it. From the butterflies you feel in your stomach when you fall in love to the spine chilling horror, this book has it all. Denials, acceptance, adventure, anger, humor, you will experience the different flavors when you read the nine (nava) rasa stories. A love story on kindle, a girl who hates to fly, a boy full of wonder, an adventurous and brave brother, an iron cored girl with goals, a loving Grand Pa and a story around his tea estate, a haughty landlord, a taxi ride and a woman’s struggle make up for a wide variety of reading.MY TAKEStarting from the cover of the book is simple and yet beautiful with nine different rasa emoji in red color background. The title of the book “Navarasa” Nava – nine and Rasa – emotions means nine emotions. The book is a collection of short stories based on nine navarasa. The nine emotions included in Navarasa are:-Shringara (love, devotion, beauty)Hasya (Joy, humor, sarcasm)Adbutha (wonder, mystery, curiosity),Veera (courage, confidence, pride),Shanta (peace, relaxation, calmness)Karuna (sadness, compassion, pity),Raudra (anger, irritation, violence),Bhayanaka (Horror, anxiety, worry),Bhibathsa (disgust, depression, self-pity)These are the emotions that humans show according to the situations. My love for you, Take Off, In the eyes of wonder, A Knock at the door, the damned bridge, Nancy’s Haven, A wash away story, girl in the back seat, when I wake up are some short stories author had penned down based on these emotions. Every page is loaded with emotions and twists.Grandpa Henry from Nancy’s Heaven was my favorite character in the book. Take Off! It’s one of the funniest stories in the book. The protagonist Manasi dislikes kids and hate flying. Manasi colleague Arunima inivited her to celebrate New Year Eve Party at Chennai. Aravind (Arunima’s brother) is also coming from US to attend the party so Manasi decides to use the opportunity to meet him. She had a crush on him. Arunima requests Manasi to take her darling daughter Shaina with her in the plane. Shaina was very naughty. The plane and airport journey in the book was amusing.Language is simple and lucid to read and connect with the story and being engaged throughout the story. The style of narration and the pace are perfect. The author has portrayed each and every character with utmost significance of their own and every one of them has done justice to their respective roles throughout the story.Looking forward to read more works by the author.I’ll recommend this book to all readers.Overall Ratings 5/5 StarsGrab the book here Amazon.in | Amazon.com |About the AuthorVinaya Patil is a passionate IT professional who chose to write when she decided to take a break from her well established IT career. Meaningless LifeThere is a place,A place where all deads are living together, departed from their body but they still live through the air.I can see them in the shadows,I can hear them whispering, their cries through silent howls. But I can't touch them ,I can't comfort them. It's my inability I can't put life back to them,it doesn't matter how deep I dig up I can't put all their pains away. They live their life like a curse, those lost souls live beyond their time.Under those stony plates may be they want to be loved ,may be there is still warmth inside but who knows. We are also like them ,our souls are long dead.I think I am also a part of deads there.I have lost my power to feel ,to think ,to act.I have lost my gift to speak ,I have lost my voice which tells the truth.every day I woke up with hope and confidence, thinking that today I will be a new person living truly the way I should be and when I put the curtains away I see people of my daily life and everything seems gone, all hope and confidence  leaves me behind,I feel my mind is caged inside my body ,and to support my physical needs I also need to be like them ,A machine.I feel vanished from life and turned to thin air in the vacantness, losing my own purpose of living, losing my own existence.I feel like an extraterrestrial alien, to who everyone looks at  but remains silent,I am indifferent to them.I have no special identity because I am also part of the dead society. My Life has no meaning but I hope my death will be meaningful .

India the champion of Oslow Grand quiz 2019

This tournament was not easy for us as a team where we were expected more by many who has been following the game and also we have a point, not to prove for ourselves, but to those who have been wondering whether we had gone back to our work and has forgotten the glories of this sport in our hectic other life schedule or whether we are still with it's complete intensity which it demands. This was the thought process behind which we as a team gathered back on 6th of January and next 25 days we took our preparations making sure that we used them to great effect while training for it's standard to suit and bring to actual cultural core. Once we had gone on to Norway and the quiz tournament got gearing from 2nd of February there was hardly any time left for any other plans to come through and we realised the hectic time management of this area which finally made us recognise the speed and accuracy required to be in the platform. This was benefitial also as it was going to be vital in the knock out matches with high qualified teams using speed to defeat their opponent and hence we had to counter our experiences that later proved handy at all costs. Prepared but still anxious what to be coming in front, we took on the charge and got ourselves ready for the tournament looming ahead on the morning of 2nd and from thence on we were on the move to make the mark of accuracy for ourselves at large. Knowing the tradition of my community we were already planning how to tackle braille round and it went well in all ways. I took on the responsibility as captain to read first the braille questionire handed through and then also took charge to write with lifting the braille slate and inserting the white  paper and picking my stylus as it is done in all first rounds of quiz tournament in our community standards. Once the answers started to blend in through they were fast and i expected the same from my team also insisting during my training session back at home that how we should do that. Happy that things are going into the right direction we were one of the 4 first finishing teams and that time lock gave us the momentum we required to go through for the next round being healthy to recognise us how our impetus is going to be in the whole tournament processing through. As also 8 countries had been dismissed at the end of round, and that happened due to their slow speed and lack of accuracy of answering which was sad but thats how the game goes on and some have to stay and other have to leave which we understand and thence the next round proceeded. The coming round was the digital round and we got bit surprised knowing that it will have three separate phases on the basis of the teams coming in which means that few more would be going home due to their slower responses at the end of the round. The first phase went wel for us as we sat in alphabetical order and there we were quick to go through one word answer type pattern. In the second round we took advantage of our e reading capacity and used JAWS to great effect while answering that proved healthy once it was over. In the third phase it was the team move and thence all of us remained on touch of game ending ourselves 4th in the last group stage as the knock out phase was clear and only 16 teams remained from the 40 in all who have been in counting in the start. We did a short press confrence after the digital round and according to the tournament rules by the name toss we were asked to face the first knock out against Sweedon andn we accepted it with happiness looking forward to the knock out stages looming ahead. However knock out stage was not as challenging affair for us once we have witnessed how the others team play and use their tactics well enough to support each other as the speed was the key element and that was what we focused to make sure that things tick by with our performances. In the round of 16 as mentioned above we faced Sweedon and their left and right challenger did pose critical competition for us but with slowness of their captain and vice captain we took chances and it paid off for us in the round of 16 as we defeated them with margin of 8 rounds to 18 phases. In the round of 8 from where Quarters mainly begin we thence faced Russia and knowing them well back from facing in Indian Birds Quiz in 2017 main match we knew their weaknesses wel and launched on to the double speed tactics that suited well and helped in the positive result of 21 to 11 rounds making us through for the Semi finals looming above. In the semi finals as expected a pacific team to be, We met New Zealand and we faced them with a particular challenge from George and Elis being captain and Vice captain, thus the match went into the tie breaker after 17 round a piece but we made sure that it not goes too far thus in the second tie breaker we launched more speed and thence we managed it through to be in the finals first time as Indian VI team to be qualified for the Oslow Grand Quiz and the happy moment I guess were not far as well from there on. In the finals our biggest challenge was Naves Kalmeiav who is one of the proficient expert of quizzing and has been the key cause due to which norway has been great success at home thus we studied him closely and recognised his moves to make sure that we can take him in line as I am sure that opposition would have done in consent relative to me and my team going forward into the finals. Once it was done we as team also made plan on the whole team as individual players and all 3 boys and our senior lady as vice captain came to the party and me considering the challenge recognised through experience that which moves should suit best. In the finals generally here were 4 basic rounnds in which 1st had 8 phases containing 3 -half minutes each, the second round containing 16 phases with equally 3-half minutes each, the third round containing 4 segments with 9 minutes each and the last round having bigger 2 phases containing 1 hour each as time limits to cover. We took our time adjusting to the regulations, made plans and after all time management, words from coach as well as captain and the exact accuracy to act we proceeded in our own styles. After all the pressure used, all the experiences tilted, the accuracy and speed on highest show, India managed to defeat Norway from 27 bolts to 17 in all 4 rounds leading it 4-3 which was great in all respects. Here we would like to thank all who have been great support including the local staff, the Indian External ministry for our arrangements, our coach with management staff and all who have been with their blessings and wishes to make sure that our confidence not become low. My sincere thanks to parens, family and all the relatives for their trust and helping us through cheering for the sake of it. A quick thank you note to the Indian Quiz Federation, Norway committee of the Blind and international Quiz Federation for all the facilities and the arrangement with their heartiest of cooperation. And ultimately thanks to the crowd who came in such huge numbers here at the Oslo Grand Hotel corridor making it a great experience, Thank you Norway for your love, We shall always remember it as visually impaired, For now cheers from charlie...

I started my schooling and continue to be at Shikshantar – a place where I can be ‘me’.From my early days, I have been fascinated by all kinds of cars – that’s what even my teachers from idiscoveri preschool remember about me. As I am growing up, this has become a passion – I am an avid fan of all kinds of car racing – F1, Formula E, Moto GP etc. I enjoy a variety of music and sports - from the age of 6, I started learning tennis & piano and they have gradually become an important part of my routine. I have fun playing games on the Xbox and PS4. And…as expected, I can remain engrossed in books for hours!!! How did you get interested in literature? What inspired you to write?   My parents always encouraged me to spend time with books. I remember listening to a wide variety of amusing stories in Hindi, English and Bengali from my parents and grandparents. This started me on my journey with books and this bond has got stronger day by day. At school, I enjoyed reading (or initially observing the pictures) the books from the small book stacks in the classroom. A few years ago, I and my friends became Tintin fans – we used to exchange the comics and read them together. We still do that with books we are currently interested in. During summer holidays, I have spent my time relaxing with the collection of my mother’s old books (& Archies comics!!!) at my Nani’s house. My interest in literature spans a vast range and I enjoy characters like Famous Five, Geronimo Stilton, Shonku & Feluda, Harry Potter etc. I have been entertained by the works of many authors - Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl, Herge, Ruskin Bond, Satyajit Ray, Agatha Christie. Mystery & adventure is the genre that I love.  At school, we were always encouraged to express our thoughts and feelings on paper – first through art and then through writing. Starting with a few lines in my own spellings, I began writing short pieces based on the themes given in class.  I got a lot of encouragement from my teachers and parents and over time, my writing skills evolved to poems and short stories based on prompts or on areas of my interest. Guided by my English teacher, my mother approached Children’s World magazine and my work was well appreciated by the editor. When my first poem got published, it further boosted my confidence and motivated me to write better .  I was selected for a workshop ‘ Kissa-O-Kalam’ at Sahitya Akademi in May 2017 where I got to learn about different writing techniques from the mentors and hear interesting ideas of my companions. I have also participated in a number of creative writing competitions including Katha Utsav(2015), Scholastic Writing Awards(2016), Hindu Young World Club contests etc. These experiences have brought in new perspectives and enhanced my writing. What is your view about the present-day literary work?Modern day adventure stories excite me. I have read the series of Percy Jackson, Alex Rider and Time Riders. I find these to be thrilling with fast action and quick changes of scenarios – the twists and turns take the story to unexpected endings. Moreover, these adventures always involve some novel type of technological features which makes it more interesting. I find it difficult to put down the book till I have reached the end –you want to finish it as fast as you can to know the climax. Please tell us something about your literary work.I enjoy writing short stories and poems in English. I generally pick up abstract topics and use my imagination to spin stories around them. For this, I draw upon my experiences of travel, stories that I read, games that I play and what I observe around me.Some of my works include:Short stories - Autobiography of a Pair of Socks, A Chance Encounter with Hanumanji, Desert Escapade Poems – The Paper Boat, Fire n Ice, Falcon, Sounds of Silence I have also written few poems and short stories in Hindi – बचपन, जंगल बचाव, मन करताहै What was your first literary work and how was it published? My first literary work was an English poem called ‘Sounds of Silence’ which was published in the ‘Children’s World’ magazine on its 50th anniversary in April 2017. It is a monthly magazine brought out by the Children Book Trust, Delhi and is one of the oldest magazines for children.Where do you see yourself after 5 years in the literary world?                            I am keen to continue writing short stories and hope to sharpen my writing skills in the future. One of the ways I plan to do this is by pursuing my passion for reading. This will help me to get more ideas and to create extraordinary stories. What ways would you suggest to build a community for poets?                          Online platforms help amateur writers to share their works and read contributions from others. This can be enhanced by holding regular events and workshops. Emerging writers get to interact among themselves, appreciate other’s style of writing and learn from each other. Inviting a well known poet or author to share their thoughts will help young writers to get new ideas and develop their writing skills.      What message would you like to give to aspiring new writers?I always believe in the motto “Writing is an exploration. You start from nothing and learn as you go.”                            How was your experience of writing on StoryMirror?Story mirror was convenient to access. Cancer

 21 April 2019

CancerLosing someone close because of cancer is never too easy because it is very hard to deal with atruth like this. Cancer is scariest medical health issue compared to all the other medial health issues. People who have cancer are dying everyday even if they are alive, it becomes very difficult for those people who face this problem because their life completely changes.Cancer is such a kind of health problem which can be cured if it is detected soon but there is no guarantee if the person would be still alive after he or she is cured by cancer. A person who detects that he or she has cancer they break down because there is a reason behind it, because they know that they will leave their family and the love ones because they do not know if they are going to be alive the next day or next week or next month. After knowing they have cancer, they cannot predict anything about their life. Once the person knows that he or she has cancer they do not have any hope left. Because they know even if they are alive, they still are dying with the thought of death. They know if they don’t get cure, they are going to die sooner or later. When someone is cured with cancer, they celebrate it. They celebrate it because they fought for living each second of their life. They are titled as a warrior because they are one. Some people even call them a fighter because they were brave enough to live their life in pain and with a thought of death every day in their mind as soon as their day begins and as soon as they go to sleep. They always had one hope that is to live for a little longer and experience every moment and every second of their life. It is never too easy for someone to be okay when they are facing cancer. It takes a lot to make them happy. They are in pain each and very day of their life and they are sad, depressed with the fact that why did it happened to them and why are they one who are suffering so much. The main reason doctors advise their patients to visit clubs and ask them to be around people who they can always communicate about their problem and are happy around because that might just help them to feel better and increase their chance to live. Some people around us also conduct some small seminars so that they can communicate with all the people who are cancer survivors also who are fighting with cancer so that they can motivate them and boost their confidence level and get back their hope to live. They also encourage them to be more positive and live all the moments of their life happily and with a smile and not with pain, sadness and depression. It just cures you faster if you live each moment happily and enjoy each second of your life with your love ones and close ones.~By. Saloni Maliwal.

Technology based education will it solve the problem we are facing ?
 Venkatesh R
 9 May 2019

We can use Technology to provide education to children: We can give quality education by using the technology and by connecting to the globe, and where ever possible reuse the existing information.Use a commonplace for school, like the temple, church in absence of school.EDU-VAN for education: Mobile van will contain equipment like Computer, Mobiles, Mobile gadgets like memory card, Mobile/Radio charge outlet which will be used by the teacher and students. The mobile van can reach to the remote place and can be used to teach the students. The recorded media like pdf can be saved in the mobiles so this will serve as a textbook for children. The children can take the mobiles to their home and can learn. The usage of recorded media such as videos from youtube, how stuff works will help the children to learn at faster/own phase. Probably some rights are needed as these materials are been used by an organization. We need not invest a huge amount in mobiles there are many organizations that recycle the mobiles, with the advancement in technology probably we can get the recycled mobiles at a cheaper rate, and can have the recorded materials in it. Moreover, we need just a device to play media files and have pdf so that will not cost much.Google Hangout-based education: We can ask students from other countries, to provide online class sessions to the refugee camp students. If we can design a Time-Zone based Time Table, and by having collaboration with schools and colleges we can execute this idea. As a part of social service activity, points credit should be given to the students and teachers of various school, where they will be spending 2 to 3 hrs a week in teaching the children on their favorite subject. At the end of the session, the google hangout video will be available which can be used as recorded material and can be reused for clarifying doubts and refreshing the subject.Radio-Based Education: Still there are places which may not have enough electricity so we can use the radio in those places. 3 or 4 dedicated channel for education, where the subjects can be broadcasted repeatedly and weekly once. Children can attend the school (a common place like temple/ Van) and can get their doubts clarified. If that is not possible an interactive radio session can be conducted/Email based question-answer session can be conducted where the children can post their question to the staff/teacher they will send a mail to other teachers and will provide an answer.Bring Innovation in Teaching: In today's world innovation cannot be ignored, so even the teachers should keep learning, and should introduce new approaches in learning, there are many online free courses on creativity and Design labs. Which will be useful for teachers and students. So the teachers/students can enroll in those courses and can share their experiences. One such course is by Novo Education, Creativity course by Tina Selig https://novoed.com/creativity, where you get a chance to interact with professionals from various background. "Nothing can replace Experience, and when some shares it please absorb it!"Knowledge Sharing Session: Let the students learn through the recorded media, and let them be one day teacher. Where the student takes the class for other students, the idea is to improve their confidence and soft skills which are required for their future. In the advanced version of knowledge sharing the refugee students can take the class to the foreign students so they can overcome their fear.Advanced Skill Learning: We can use some mobiles to have an advanced skill set learning, which contains recorded materials on various subjects like "Languages, Photography, Journalism " etc let the student learn these skills through the recorded media. Then UNHCR can conduct a workshop on that subject based on the enrolled student's strength. The accelerated workshops and apprenticeship help them to achieve the job.Security Issue: One of the main reasons, girls avoid school is security reasons. If we can deliver the materials through recorded media through mobiles, we don't need even the internet, they can play the recorded materials and pdf at their own phase. They can clarify their doubt once or twice in a week when the Edu-Van reaches their place. "It's better to learn, than being taught." Moreover most of the girl's dropout during the secondary education and by using the animations we can teach them easily as the  "picture is worth more than a thousand words"!Divide and Conquer Education with informal discussion: Let the girls interact with each other, their neighbor/ friend let them learn one subject properly and share the learning with other girls in their locality.Time Management: When a girl becomes pregnant, or she has household responsibilities she cannot spend enough time in school, with the help of recorded media she can learn the things at a faster pace, and by giving 3-4 hours on the important subject she can achieve a good education. After a certain age " We can learn by our-self, but we need to invest ample time and confidence to achieve it.Advanced Skill Learning: We can use some mobiles to have advanced skillset learning, which contains recorded materials on various subjects like "Languages, Photography, Journalism " etc let the student learn these skills through the recorded media. Parents and Families: Parents should encourage their children to attend the technology-based school, as schooling is delivered to their home. So the security issue is been addressed. At the max, their children have to visit the EDU-VAN or Church-based school weekly once or twice. This is a chain reaction when one family follows it, others will start doing it.Communities: The communities can help in setting up the school in the church or other common places, and they have to spread the message that "By educating a girl they are educating their society" during the public gathering they need to spread the message of Technology based schooling and their advantages, such as their children has a good scope to get a job, quality education. So this encourages the parent to send them to school.Though all of these are thoughts can this be realized?

Best Yoga Practices To Prepare Your Body For Trekking
 Manmohan Singh
 13 May 2019

The article talks about some of the best Yoga exercises that are good for preparing the body for trekking.Trekking and Yoga are related in many ways. Both are highly fascinating to practice, filled with tons of beautiful memories. Rejuvenation of the mind, body, and soul is a common element of Yoga and trekking. All over the world, many trekkers enjoy the delight of the ancient science to boost their chance of succeeding on the trekking trails. Whether you are planning a trekking tour in Nepal or aspiring for a journey in the Alps, Yoga is the best way, to begin with. Even embracing Yoga during the tour can be extremely enjoying.Let’s talk about some of the most effective Yoga poses that help you prepare the body and mind for trekking.Ardha-UtkatasanaLet’s begin with the advanced version of Chair Pose. Ardha-Utkatasana is one of the finest ways to boost the strength of your legs and thighs muscles. Also known as the Standing Figure Four, the asana is practiced on one leg. While one foot is perfectly placed on the ground, the other leg finds itself on the knee. Although bending down in this position needs a lot of effort, it can be easily possible with regular practice. Balance is the key in both - the practice of Ardha-Utkatasana and Trekking.NatarajasanaThe vibrancy of Natarajasana can be understood by the fact that it is the cosmic dance form of Lord Shiva. Being a perfect practitioner of this asana means you are able to perform all kinds of physical activities. During the one-legged asana, the left toe is held by the left hand in the air while the right arm extends parallel to the ground. You should repeat the practice on the other side to complete the exercise. The practice tones almost all body parts and helps the body enjoy tremendous stability.ChakrasanaWelcome flexibility in your life to succeed as a trekker of the utmost level. Chakrasana is all about crossing the limits of the body and applying it to make a person internally strong. The whole body is in a circle-like position with the palms and toes balancing the body. The abdomen remains at the top during the asana. The asana is one of the finest ways to boost the flow of blood throughout the body. It also tones almost all muscles and bones of the body in the process.BakasanaBakasana is known as Crow pose, thanks to its imitation as a crow. The pair of palms holds the body weight while the body recoils in the air. Place your knees on the arms while making sure the buttocks are at the top. The exercise gives a lot of confidence to the practitioner, since it is not an easy task to hold the body on the palms. That mixture of power, confidence, and audacity can be the most important thing to have while trekking.Prasarita PadottanasanaPlace your feet wide apart (approx 2-3 ft) to indulge in a beautiful physical exercise that every avid trekker and hiker should practice. Bend in the forward direction to place the head on the mat. Make sure the knees don't bend in the process. Put your palms on the mat on either side of the head. It is an extremely amazing asana for getting prepared for a difficult level trek like Everest Base Camp Trek and GR 20.PadmasanaAt the end of a physical task, you need to relax. You want a moment or two of quietude in life to calm yourself down. Padmasana is probably the most astonishing way to relax and pacify your mind. The reason that makes Lotus Pose holds the upper hand over other restful exercises is that it comes with the additional benefit of stretching various body muscles. Just by sitting in Padmasana, one can feel complete silence as well as spinal strengthening. Chanting a few mantras helps you attain the state of soulfulness.

Boost Your Self Confidence Through Trekking
 Manmohan Singh
 27 May 2019

Apart from many physical benefits, trekking also helps you in improving the mental as well as psychological health. To know more read the following article. In the last few years trekking in India has witnessed a huge surge in its popularity. And this led to the importance of distinct trekking tours in India such as trekking in Ladakh, Triund, Parashar Lake, etc. Though people have been following it as a trend there are multiple health benefits associated with it as well. It is easy to guess the physical benefits that include improved heart health, effective breathing, stamina, strength, etc. But there are psychological and mental benefits as well that boosts the self-confidence of an individual.Let’s examine how trekking boost self-confidence:Relieves stress: Hectic meetings, deadlines, performance, etc. all these burden the mind with stress which is the source of various health issues. Trekking, on the other hand, distracts the mind from a chaotic lifestyle and gives you space to breathe. For example, trekking in Nepal in amidst of the Himalayas helps you forget the stress and allures you towards the beauty of mountains. This releases endorphins responsible for relieving stress in the body and mind and ultimately makes you happy.Improves outlook: Negativity, unwillingness, anxiety, etc. often blocks the mind and doesn’t let you focus on the work. Whereas, trekking gives you the opportunity to drift these negativities away and focus on the necessary things. You may be trekking in hills, valleys, beaches, forests, etc. it helps you focus on the details of the environment which changes your outlook. It replaces negativity with positivity and feeds energy to the mind and body.Detoxifies digitally: Being digitally active all the time is another way that blocks the thinking capability of the mind and affects the nervous system. Going on a trek helps you detoxify digitally. It reconnects you with nature and brings awareness to the mind as well as body. This enhances the performance at work, communication skills and teaches compassion towards self and others.Strategic planning: Trekking is the most uncertain experience therefore it introduces you to the challenges that may come in the way. It helps you understand the challenges that may come, how to combat and ultimately win over them. As you gain experience, it helps you plan strategically for the trek as well as for life. Moreover, it helps in building managerial skills such as leadership, strategy management, resource planning, etc. To challenge your managerial skills trekking in Ladakh is the best trek route in India.Builds social circle: There can be a possibility that you are good at work but shy to build relations at work. Trekking helps you connect with people from around the globe to share thoughts and express yourself. You may either trek alone and be friends with a bunch of unknown trekkers and make connections for life. You may also trek with your colleagues, friends, family, etc. You will be benefited either way.Develops spirituality: Not many people can remember the last time they peek into their spiritual souls. The struggle between your personal and social life restricts you for the same. But if you are trekking in India, it isn’t that difficult to connect with the spiritual self. The river bank of the holy river Ganga, temples in India, trekking to the religious destinations helps you discover the spiritual self.Enhances efficiency: Since stress is relieved, the outlook is improved, digitally detoxified, strategic planning is improved, etc. All these eventually have positive effects on performance at work. Trekking helps you focus and concentrate on things for longer, sharpen your abilities and skills and helps you rediscover yourself. This enhances efficiency at work or at home. All the above-mentioned reasons shape the overall personality of an individual and hence, boost the self-confidence.

Bhagavad Gita Verse 1.10

Learn To Defend - In Gita Verse 1.10 Our strength is immeasurable, and we are perfectly protected by Grandfather Bhīṣma, whereas the strength of the Pāṇḍavas, carefully protected by Bhīma, is limited.Duryodhana’s words were coming from what power he has. Not from the resources he has. For him his power is more important. What he said was very correct that Bhima is very carefully protecting, means Pandavas were totally alert with their little resources and using it very carefully. He also said that he has immeasurable strength and perfectly protected by Bhishma. No doubt Bhishma’s strength is immeasurable, but it was without freedom. As this war was lead by Duryodhana and not by Bhishma, approach is different. In my earlier blog Bhagavad Gita Verse 1.8, I had explained how things changes when leadership and approach change.I will put this differently. All of you are aware of Martial Art. What is the foundation of any Martial Art - not to be aggressive and attacking on others. That is on physical level. When you are not aggressive and attacking others, same energy will move towards yourself, inside you, it will become defensive. Your energy will be utilized only to defend yourself. To defend ourselves we need very little energy. This will save lot of our energy, which you can use it for different purpose. This is not in words. Many of you might have seen the Martial Art person giving demonstration of breaking pile of bricks without hurting himself. What he is demonstrating is not how much strength he has, through his action conveys that - when we use our energy to defend ourselves we don’t get hurt. Same principal if we move towards our subjectivity we will not be hurt on emotional and mental level, we will not be stuck in the objective world. In Buddhism they practice Martial Art. Not for protecting themselves from the objective world but when you are using the energy for defending yourself the direction of the energy changes from objective world to subjective world. As the direction of energy changes it becomes easy for them to live in objective world without its influence on them. Means their action, which is for the objective world is coming from subjective world. As the physical body is not hurt when you are defending yourself same way you cannot be affected by the turbulences of objective world when your energy is moved towards your subjectivity.Recollect the moment when you spoke only required words to convey your message. That moment how much calmness you felt. No one can disturb you. You can focus on what you want to convey. Other person will also listen to you. What happens at that time is you are using only required energy for the objective world. So there is huge energy available for your subjective world. As there is huge amount of energy available for your subjective world immediately you will connect with your godliness. Our body is blessing and is a part of our parents and our soul is blessing and is part of the universe. As soon as you are connected with your subjectivity you are connected with universe. You become universe itself. It's so vast that nothing can disturb you.If you go into your subjectivity deeply, you will see that the whole universe is part of you, part of your body. For example, if the sun were to cease this very moment, your body would not continue to exist. It would not exist if there were no oceans, it would not exist if there was no atmosphere. Your body is just a part, a constantly changing part of the universe. When the sun rises, something rises in you. When the sun sets, something sets in you. When there is a moon, you are different. When there is no moon, you are different. Your body is in constant, dynamic relationship with the whole. When you are stuck to objective world recollect how much energy you have for yourself. You feel exhausted, drained and left with hardly any energy. You feel that you don’t have any energy for yourself you will slip into ego and exhibit what you have. People who know that they have, they will not brag about it. Why we feel silent when we are connected with our subjectivity and can focus in the present moment because at that time we are connected with universe and universe is not noisy it is silent.Duryodhana is busy in exhibiting his power. He is using his time comparing how much more he has than Pandava. In the process he misses one of the important thing that he is using his time for exhibiting his power and not using his time on how to manage that power/strength. While Pandavas were utilising their time on how to manage their power/strength.All of us are aware of the story of Hare and Tortoise. The Hare was proud and confident of himself. Tortoise was calm and consistent in his work. What happened when the Hare challenged the Tortoise. The Hare lost the race. Our arrogance and pride will not allow us to focus in our present moment and what are our resources, strength and how to manage it. Tortoise with his slow and steady speed could win the race because it knew his resources and also did not focus on the Hare’s strength, while the Hare’s focus was on the weakness and comparison of his speed with the Tortoise he became confident that with his speed he could easily defeat the Tortoise. That confidence caused him to lose the race.So as Duryodhana, because he was busy counting his strength and not managing it he lost the war.

Obsessive Love Disorder

As young kids and teenagers, we all have had minor and as well as major crushes on our classmates, neighbours, etc. By the time we reach the age of 20 or 25, most of us have been in love at least once in our lives. We have imagined a romantic dinner date and a long term relationship with the person/s. Sometimes, the person we love eventually becomes the only aspect of our life that we actually care about due to which we tend to detach ourselves from regular social obligations. These result in a psychological phenomenon called ‘Obsessive love disorder’. The latter part of this article explains the causes, symptoms and treatments of this disorder. What characterises obsessive love disorder? If you want to be with the person who put you in an abusive relationship or rejected you, then you have the ‘Obsessive love disorder’. When one feels an overwhelming desire or a strong attraction towards a particular person to a degree that he/she becomes controlling and possessive and cannot accept any kind of failure or rejection. What gives rise to obsessive love disorder? The following mental health indicators can imply that the person may have obsessive love disorder:1. Disinhibited social engagement disorder: This means that every person who is extremely outgoing and socialising all the time with random people finds it hard to form meaningful and emotional one on one relationship and thus have obsessive love disorder.2. Reactive Attachment Disorder: It is a condition in which a child is unable to form a secure and loving bond with his/her primary caretakers that can be parents or guardians. Later on, they struggle to form relationships with anyone.3. Borderline Personality Disorder: It is a relatively common mental health disorder which is characterised by unstable mood swings and absurd behaviour. These people can have extreme reactions to situations, inability to control anger, addiction and suicidal thoughts. Some victims of this disorder face obsessive love disorder.4. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: This is caused by obsessive fears that lead to compulsive rituals and practices in daily life. E.g.: the need to wash hands all the time. Due to the constant over one particular behaviour, the person may have obsessive love disorder.5. Relationship Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: This is the same as OCD but it implies the significance of the relationship. The patient becomes so obsessed with her partner that she talks about him all the time, stalks him, etc. Basically, every moment of her life depends on that person.6. Erotomania: This is a rather rare case but it means that you think a celebrity or someone of a really high profile is in love with you when he/she is actually not.Obsessive love disorder Symptoms:If you know anyone facing such problems, you must notify the following symptoms:1. Strong/Overwhelming Attraction: The person feels a strong desire to be with his/her partner all the time. These are the kind of people who say ‘I love you’ too quickly. They have high expected from the relationship sometimes believing false reciprocation of love from the other side.2. Need to Protect the Partner: You feel the constant need to protect your partner and fulfil all his/her wishes even when it is not required. You have a fear of losing the person. There is hardly any personal space left for both individuals.3. Need for validation: You need a constant reminder that you are loved and cared for by the person you are in love with. You call and message the person too many times a day to exhibit your feelings. This behaviour leads to low self-confidence.4. Low self-esteem: Similar to the previous point, this means that the person in the relationship does not feel like himself. Everything seems to fall apart. You start thinking that you are not worthy of being who you are and degrade your personality.5. Contact with Family and Friends: People with obsessive love disorder tend to have the least connection with family and friends. You find it difficult to maintain a healthy relationship with any person apart from the one you have feelings for.6. Unreasonable Jealousy: You cannot tolerate any other person who comes close to your partner or tries to talk to him/her. You stand the thought of another being with the person you love even if the intentions of the relationship aren’t bad.Obsessive love disorder Treatment:If you come across any patient of obsessive love disorder, do not assume the worst or isolate the person from your life. Instead, encourage him/her to visit a psychiatrist or a psychologist and seek professional help. Remind them constantly that they are loved and cared for. Spread awareness about mental health and its relevance in the contemporary world. There is no magical cure to obsessive love disorder but we can give useful advice and take help from people who trained in the field of psychotherapy to make the situation better.Bottom Line:We must make all our brothers and sisters aware of the importance of mental health and obsessive disorders. Let us help the people who have obsessive love disorder instead of stigmatising the very name of it.
