The first question people have when someone tells them they are studying psychology is, ‘can you tell what I’m thinking?’ The answer to that question is no because psychologists are not mentalists. Nor can they ever be. Psychology is the science of understanding the how’s and why’s. How they think, how they work, how they behave and most importantly, WHY they think, WHY they work and WHY they behave as they do. Human species is a complexity at best. We are paradoxical beings. Saying something and doing something entirely different. Psychology helps us bridge the gap between the saying and doing. Moreover, after you study the subject, get a look at the theories that have been proposed, you start applying it to the situations around you. You start understanding the reasons behind the sly smiles and the meaningful looks. You begin to understand that every person in this world has a reason and a past. The reason for their behavior and their past which has shaped them into the person that they have become. It gives you a brilliant glimpse of life through the other person’s eyes. You become more empathetic, instead of sympathizing, you connect with another soul on a level so as to understand them better. You become more open and loving because you understand that every person in this world is fighting their own battles so you want to do everything to help. That’s the good part. Now, the paradox. You can never truly be pissed off at someone. You can never truly be angry because you will be bound to rationalize their actions and invariably find a logical theory to support their behavior. This may seem like ideal behavior in print but not being angry or not taking out your anger is as dangerous as the next viral outbreak. It rots you from inside until you become a chamber of nothingness.So you see, herein lies the problem. Psychology is a field of tremendous irony and in this irony, we, as humans can only hope to not get lost because it makes us better humans for one yet vials of emptiness for others.
Media is the need of the hour with its force and strength, it is a wildfire, not a wild flower Virat Kohli and Leo Messi are a few of the idols today's generation looks forward to. But I have grown up admiring Shashi Tharoor and Barkha Dutt. You might call me a lunatic but media is what resides in my heart and inevitably in my soul. Media is referred to as the fourth pillar of democracy, but if we glance over it, media houses are accused of promoting ghastly cowardice, and portraying horrendous incidents which don't stand true, due to which attention is attributed to them and freedom of expression of several individuals is throttled on the whole. On one hand, media is what, we the youth looks up to as a frontier of change and something that is unparallel to anything in our life which is no less than a paradox. However, the other side of the picture, media is targeted for proclaiming mind numbing notions as relevant, and not derogatory. This so called elixir of life is a force of change and as a pillar of strength, is a mass influencer. Reporters don't blabber on your screens, they are up to some good for the present pragmatic society we reside in. It pinches me, and pierces me all along when people proclaim it as a medium which introduces either the black or white aspects of life. But let me tell you, it is much more than that. It is a system of mingled hues and showcases the colours of life. Media is a basic entity which gives us identity. Media is entrusted to lead is to the truth and it certainly will. Let's not target media houses always and manipulate its existence. There may be pros and cons of a story, but the fact remains, media is and will be the life of my party, or the inextricable possession of my treasures. You can disagree with me all you want. But I hope you know, opinions aren't to be argued with. Atleast, that is what media taught me, and indeed what my Innervoice whispers to me.
Homosexuality:-Homosexuality is romantic attraction, sexual attraction or sexual behavior between members of the same sex or gender. When it comes to homosexuality, for many people the recurring idea is that it’s something unnatural. But what does unnatural really mean? The definition of the term is something that goes against natural or human laws especially in relation to morality. Homosexuality is normal and is noticed form the ancient times. Between two and eleven percent of human adults report experiencing some homosexual feelings, though the figure varies widely depending on the survey. Homosexuality exists across cultures and even throughout the animal kingdom. Between six and ten percent of rams prefer to mount other rams, not ewes. Certain groups of female Japanese monkeys prefer the company of other females, American bison, polecats or elephants, both males and females have been observed courting and mating with others the same sex. In the case of giraffes, nine out of ten couplings occur between males. Bonobos form matriarchal societies, where 60% of sexual relations occur between females. In lions, 8% of mating observed are among males, and in the case of dogs, numerous research studies affirm the existence of patterns of homosexual behavior. As for birds, all species that form parental relationships do so, to a greater or lesser extent, with members of the same sex. As many as a quarter of black swans are homosexual. Penguins have even struck up same-sex relationships in zoos in different parts of the world. Studies have shown that up to 85% of lesbian pairs are found in populations of western seagulls. And they’re not the only ones. Pigeons, vultures, ibis, lizards, sheep, macaques, hyenas, flies, dragonflies and countless other animal species are challenging the notion that homosexuality is “unnatural”.Sexual orientation is a very complex phenomenon. Many gays and lesbians would argue that being gay is not a choice, but whether to act on it is. We don’t choose our sexual orientation, but we do choose whether or not to come out of the closet. Most scientific organizations also believe that homosexuality is not a choice and that biology plays some role. The National Mental Health Association says that most researchers believe sexual orientation is complex, and that biology plays an important role. In this whole wide world, where we are engulfed by the modern age technology , we tend to forget that is not a substitute for Grandma’s stories. We develop this ideology that the most valuable things are inevitably materialistic. Our mindsets are inflicted upon this idea and we forget that presents cannot buy presence. Technology has taken over the current situation. We stand in the middle of an era where we have Netflix on the tips of our fingers and Swiggying is the new cool. Technology is like that attractive magnetic pole to which we are iron nails disguised in the dust of development and modernization. On one hand it offers irresistible devices, and Mark Zuckerberg is our new hero, it is also an addition to our lives that has grappled our throats and choked us from within. Technology at its very best is an idyllic tool which is in every way a priceless possession to us. Yet it is high time that we rise from our lives barred by technology, and make judicious use of it. We are busy making connections worldwide but reckless we are to bother about the people we connect with for a lifetime. We have developed the way of life with standards set by Instagram posts and Google is our life guide. We are surrounded by lashes of social media and Google is our 2 am friend. Our lives, to be more specific have ‘technologized’ and it is not that there are no perks of this so called elixir of human life. It exposes us to the world watching us with watchful antagonism. It is a window to the world we desire to be a part of. We are no less than modified creations who have adopted technology in every realm. In this so called paradox called life, we are lost in the chaotic streets of technology, where Google and Face book reside, that we miss on the little things in life. And any person who thinks small things don’t matter, has not seen a match start a wildfire. We are building tall buildings, but our minds are narrow. We talk about development in the name of technology, but our values have certainly diminished. Unnerved by the amount of time we devote to technology oriented activities, we are in the want of something more. But at the cost of what? But let us not forget how technology has given us the tag of the modern man. Let us remember the times it has sorted ways and hardships in life. All this can be accepted only if we don’t get abolished from our roots, which is the base of our existence. Let us embrace technology as an assistance, rather than a bossy fellow who indeed has conquered our lives and harnesses the very essence of it. We shall never forget the popularization of PubG and Fortnite, all credits to our very own tech based lives, due to which our studies reduced to being acknowledged once in a fortnight, and also the Wikipedia posts we have always relied on, or has Quora taken over that position? I am in the middle of a dilemma in this fussy world encompassing of Pinterest in the heart and Google within the soul. Let us wake up to the situation and resist constant dependence on technology. Let us not completely despise ourselves. Afterall, Byju’s will be our eternal ally whenever disguised obstacles in the name of Maths hit our way. We as humans have accepted technology and have adjusted according to the acceptable conditions of it as well. It is high time we put in arduous efforts and restrain ourselves from this very a developing addiction. Nonetheless, no matter how extensively we try to change ourselves, we will have this medium called technology, always by our side. After all, we are humans.
Sacrifice Self-Consciousness - In Gita Verse 3.15 Regulated activities are prescribed in the Vedas, and the Vedas are directly manifested from the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Consequently the all-pervading Transcendence is eternally situated in acts of sacriﬁce.Krishna when use the word Vedas, he means wisdom, which is always moving, flow, dynamic, it is not static, and such work is born from Vedas. Which is created by God. he is not saying Vedas means scriptures.Krishna by saying this he says to Arjuna there is two way you can perform your act, one is self-unconsciously, another is self-consciously. When you act from your self-consciousness your act will be act of Sacrifice. When you act from self-unconsciously your act is not align with universe, it is not Sacrifice. It cannot transcend you. The purpose of Human birth is to transcend, to become self-alert. Because of this everyone goes through different circumstances. As you cannot imitate others for your self-alertness. Only you will know how you can become self-alert. So never wait any circumstances to repeat in your life. Don’t wait that when Anguliman will come I will act like Buddha very compassionate. That day will never come.Krishna tells to Arjuna to become self-alert, transcend your all the energy into compassion. Even if that circumstances is war. Use the war to become self-alert and secome self-alert from that act that will be your sacrifice to the Universe. In my blog Bhagavad Gita Verse 3.14, I wrote about the five elements how they manifested from one to other. Same way through the body we have to transcend our self-unconsciousness to self-consciousness. That is possible only if we respond to the present moment without getting affected by past or future. Just respond to present moment.There is only one sacrifice is needed is self-unconsciousness. It looks paradox but you cannot sacrifice self-unconsciousness. Because it is nothing but darkness. What you can do is bring light of self-consciousness and immediately self-unconsciousness will be no more. This can happen only in utter relaxation. Be relaxed but there is one more danger is when you are relax you tend to move towards your self-unconsciousness. Be alert at time time.That’s what meditation is all about — to become more alert. Live the same life, just change your alertness — make it more intense. Eat the same food, walk the same path, live in the same house, be with the same woman and the children, but be totally different from your inside. Be alert! Walk the same path, but with awareness. If you become aware, suddenly the path is no more the same, because you are no more the same. If you are aware, the same food is not the same, because you are not the same, the same woman is not the same, because you are not the same. Everything changes with your inner change.If somebody changes his within, the without changes totally. My definition of the world is this — you must be living in a deep inner darkness, hence the world. If you light your inner lamp, suddenly the world disappears, and there is only God. The world and the God are not two things but two perceptions of the same energy. If you are unaware, the energy appears to you to be as the world, the sansara; if you are alert, the same energy appears as God. The whole thing depends on your inner awareness or unawareness. That is the only change, the only transformation, the only revolution, that has to be made.If you practice awareness in your routine life, suddenly you will find that you are becoming self-conscious. Your respond to present moment will be from alertness. Then any circumstances will become for you opportunity to transcend self-unconsciousness.Krishna tells Arjuna don’t take vedas word as static word then you will not be transcend your self-unconsciousness to self-consciousness. Veda is your wisdom, your life flow, it’s dynamic force in you. This present moment of yours demands that you transcend self-unconsciousness to self-consciousness through war. Sacrifice everything to respond to this present moment.
Own Being - In Gita Verse 3.20 Kings such as Janaka attained perfection solely by performance of prescribed duties. Therefore, just for the sake of educating the people in general, you should perform your work.Krishna gives Janaka’s example.When Janaka realized himself first thing he said was - Amazing am I, I bow down to myself. I have nothing at all, or I have all that can be encompassed by speech or thought.Janak is saying in one sense nothing is his because he is not. He no longer exists, how can ‘his’ exist? So in one sense nothing is his and in another sense everything is his. As ‘he’ no longer is, only existence remains in him; godliness remains, and everything belongs to it. This paradox has happened, where it seems nothing is his and everything is his.The day you become an observer is the day you become Buddha, Ashtavakra, Krishna…that day you become all. When you become an observer you become the center of the universe. You disappear from this side; you are fulfilled from that side. You lose this small ‘I’, this small droplet – and gain the infinite ocean.Janaka this words are the sutras for worshipping your own being. These sutras are saying that you yourself are the devotee, you yourself are the divine. These sutras say you are the one worthy of adoration and you are the adorer. These sutras are saying that both are present inside you: allow them to meet! These sutras are saying something very unique: bend down to your own feet, lose yourself within yourself, drown inside yourself! Your devotee and your God are inside you. Let the union happen there, let the fusion happen.The revolution will happen when inside you your devotee and your godliness meet and become one. Neither God nor devotee will remain. Something will remain – without form, without attributes, beyond limit, beyond death, beyond time, beyond space. Duality will disappear, nonduality will remain.The first glimpses of these nondual moments are what we call meditation. When these nondual moments start becoming stable it is what we call ‘samadhi with seed’. And when this nondual moment becomes permanent, becomes so stable there is no way it can be dismissed – this is what we call ‘seedless samadhi, with no-mind’.This can happen in two ways – either just by awareness, as it happened to Janak, merely through understanding…. But great intelligence is needed, sharp intelligence is needed, great intensity is needed – a very sharp-edged awareness is needed within you. It can happen immediately! If you find this happening, good. If you find that it is not happening, then don’t sit repeating these sutras. It will not happen from repeating them. These sutras are such that if it happens while listening to them, then it happens; if while listening you miss, then even if you repeat them a million times it won’t happen, because it does not happen through repetition. The sharpness of your brain does not come through repetition; through repetition its edge is lost.One way is it if it happens when you hear these sutras. If it happens it happens, you cannot do anything. If it doesn’t happen, then slowly, slowly you will have to start with meditation, from meditation to samadhi with mind, from samadhi with mind to samadhi with no-mind – you will have to make the journey. If the leap happens, then good; if not you will have to go down the steps.Krishna tells Arjuna that work and prayers are not different. They are the same. With self-consciousness any work is done is prayer. While educating ourselves of any syllabus unless we learn self-consciousness our act will not become prayer. We may have prayer time but in our action it will not reflect. The moment Janaka realize himself his Mundane Words became Sutras. He gave life to his words by being his presence in his words. He was present himself through his words. So Arjuna don’t get stuck to the words, become self-conscious. Bondage And Freedom - In Gita Verse 4.12 Men in this world desire success in fruitive activities, and therefore they worship the demigods. Quickly, of course, men get results from fruitive work in this world.Krishna is telling us how we are after everything in the world. We are after desire so we want to achieve something, we want to live in the duality and not in unity. As a result to achieve the goal we are missing the present moment.Look in your life - we are so much in a hurry to achieve the goal that we are ready to do anything. Any kind of rituals, anyone to follow. Fake Guru, fake God. but this has got nothing to do with religion. Remember that whenever we are after the goal, this not the religion.The person who is in this moment and responding to this moment is religion. Everyone needs to act but what’s difference between the person who is after the goal and person who is responding to the present moment is only one thing the person who is after the goal he is in bondage and the person who is responding to the present moment is from freedom.What is bondage? – bondage is something which you have to do as an obsession, as a compulsion. You never wanted to do it and you have to do it. You have to go against yourself, whatever it is, it is a bondage. If you are just floating and it is what you always wanted to do with your total heart, your total being, it is freedom. Now let me state it as a paradox: if you are free as an obsession, in your freedom is bondage. If you are a slave with total acceptance, in your bondage is freedom. It depends. It is the attitude, not the situation. So only you can know about it, what it is.Unless we learn to give, we will not be able to come out of the attitude of bondage, running after the achievements and not responding to the present moment. Bondage means kind of stuckness, not flowing, giver means flowing.Let me explain to you who can be Giver by this Zen story.Giver should be Thankful:It happened with Dozo, a Zen monk. A rich man came to Dozo with ten thousand gold coins. That was a very big amount. He was going to gift it to the temple where Dozo was the priest. Dozo accepted it as if it was nothing. The rich man became agitated. He said, “Do you know these are ten thousand gold coins?”Dozo said, “You have said it so many times, I have heard it so many times. You have said it already too many times — do you think I am deaf?”The man was just asking for thanks, only thanks, nothing more. Then he said, “Ten thousand golden coins is a big amount, even to me. I am a very rich man, but that amount is very big.”Dozo said, “What do you want? What are you really asking? Are you asking for some gratitude? Are you asking that I should be thankful to you?”The man said, “At least that much can be expected.”So Dozo said, “Take your gold coins back. If you want to really give them to this temple, you will have to be thankful to me that I accepted.”When Dozo says that you should have to be thankful to me - means in the present moment you are responding to others for what they have done for you. Not that you are expecting anything from others even if it is thanks. Your expectation shows that you have attachments and goal for your giving but when you are thankful to others it shows that what you did was from freedom to give and share your belonging with others. Your are sharing with others because you are overflowing with the universal energy of love, and to express that you have given something in material.Krishna tell Arjuna that all your bondage reflecting in your words. And not respond to this moment. If you want to respond to this moment then your question would be not from bondage but what are other alternatives, when you will be Fighting Without Enmity, is to be considered. This is freedom. Same circumstances either you can act from bondage or from freedom.
Unknown, Unknowable - In Gita Verse 3.6 One who restrains the senses of action but whose mind dwells on sense objects certainly deludes himself and is called a pretender.Krishna said in this verse in very simple language, person of knowledge who is following the scriptures forcing himself to restrain from all the senses. They are masochist. In their mind they always carry the pleasure of senses. They are daydreamer. They are simply imitators, pretender.When without knowing it you think you know. You are a pretender….Once a man came to Buddha, a very cultured, educated man, a pundit. And he asked Buddha a question. Buddha said, 'Please. Right now I cannot answer.' The man said, 'Why can't you answer? Are you busy or something?' He was an important man, well-known all over the country, and, of course, he felt offended that Buddha was so busy that he couldn't give a little time to him.He said, ‘I have walked thousands of miles.' In those days there were no trains, nothing, it was really difficult. It was dangerous to travel. He had walked far; he had come from the deep south.Buddha said, 'No, that is not the question. I have enough time, but right now you will not be able to receive the answer.' The pundit asked, 'What do you mean?' Buddha said, 'There are three types of listeners. The first type is like a pot placed upside-down.You can go on answering, nothing will enter him. He is not available. The second type of listener is like a pot with holes in the bottom. It is not upside-down, it is exactly in the right posture, it is as it should be, but it has holes in the bottom. So it looks like it is being filled but that is only momentary. Sooner or later the water flows out and it is again empty. Only apparently, on the surface, does it look like something is entering — nothing really enters because it cannot hold anything. And then there is a third type of listener who has no holes in the bottom and who is not placed like an upside-down pot but is full of filth. Water can come into it but the moment water enters it, it becomes poisoned.And you are all three together, sir. So it is very difficult right now. You are filthy, filthy because you are so knowledgeable. Knowledge is filth. That which you have not known is filth; only that which you have known purifies, transforms, liberates. All that is borrowed is filth. You have stolen it, how can it purify you? Without knowing it you think you know. You are a pretender. You deceive. You are a hypocrite.'So when a man's head is like a pot which is full of filth, even if God comes and says something to him, the moment it enters him it will become poisoned. It will not be heard the way it has been told. It will be misinterpreted. It is very difficult to change a learned man because he has already got fixed ideas. He is hiding behind those ideas.The deepest mystery of existence is the phenomenon of knowledge. You can know everything except your own self. The knower cannot be known because to know something means to reduce it to an object. The very process of knowledge depends on duality. I can know you because I am here, inside, and you are there, outside. You become an object. But I cannot know myself because I cannot make myself an object. I cannot encounter my self in any objective way. I cannot put myself in front of me. And if I could put myself in front of me then that which is put in front of me would not be myself. How can that which can be put in front of me be myself? Really, the inner one which will look at it will remain myself.Self is subjective and this subjectivity cannot be made objective. Hence, the paradox: that which knows all cannot know itself; that which is the source of all knowledge remains unknowable. If you can understand this, then this Krishna’s this verse will reveal much. It goes deeper than all that the mystics have said. It says self-knowledge is impossible. You have heard, it has been preached, it has been told everywhere, “Know thyself.” But how can you know your self? You can know everything other than you. One point will always remain unknown, unknowable. That point is you.Krishna this verse pointing towards ourselves, how we are cheating and pretending to ourselves. He is addressing to Arjuna that you can pretend to others but how can you pretend to yourself.
