Q1. Kalavar ji, was there a defining moment when you realized this book was bigger than just your personal exploration, that it needed to reach others? What made you feel Hi, I Am EGO had to be shared with the world?
A1. Two big reasons:
My personal transformation in looking at life negatively to finding opportunity in every setback. I changed from becoming a victim of circumstances to becoming the designer of my life.
My fellow student’s personal validation of theory we learnt during our study of the books over 30 years. They too felt it should be shared through a book.
Q2. If readers walk away remembering just one message from this book, what would you want it to be, about the ego or about themselves?
A2. I am the cause of everything that happens in my life. Choose again and change your life.
Q3. You have spent over two decades studying ancient wisdom and the concept of ego. Was there a particular personal experience that first drew you into understanding the ego’s nature so deeply?
A3. The incident between Naren and Vikrant in the book was my personal life changing experience. The subsequent manner I was guided in studying ‘A course In Miracles was living proof of everything vedanta and two books CWG and DOU had consistently emphasized.
Q4. Writing about something as subtle and powerful as the ego can be transformative. Did working on this book shift how you perceive your own thoughts, emotions, or reactions?
A4. Definitely! Not only mine, the lives of my students and the two couples who volunteered to assisted me. The best validation came from the editor of the book Mrs. Vinita Dcrasto – who admitted her life changed during editing. On many occasions while editing she would forget she was an ‘editor’ and switch becoming a reader.
Q5. The book beautifully blends ancient teachings with practical reflection. Where did these tools and insights come from, your own spiritual journey, your mentoring experience, or both?
A5. Both plus consciously using every interaction with others to help, guide, and make them see opportunity in every situation.
Q6. Was there a specific moment during the writing or teaching process when you personally saw the ego in action, within yourself or others, that changed how you view self-awareness?
A6. I see it everywhere! The current geopolitical situation in the world is clear proof that this world is an ego world! Every news item involves ego!
Q7. There is a lot of information on “self-help” out there. What is one myth or misconception about personal growth or ego that you strongly disagree with, and how does Hi, I Am EGO set the record straight?
A7. All problems begin in the mind. Most self- help methods give temporary relief. The problem lies deep in the mind where mental garbage lies.
Q8. Every book has that one passage or realization that hits even the author at a deeper level. For you, what is that moment in this book, the one that truly represents its essence?
A8. Ego is NOTHING. There is no cause for FEAR – like darkness, it is nothing but the absence of light!
Q9. Who do you think this book will resonate with most, and who, in your opinion, needs to read it even if they do not realize it yet?
A9. Every adult who has just married or got into a relationship. Before that, the person mostly thinks about himself. The moment he gets involved with another the meaning of life changes. This book helps understand how to handle it.
Q10. When your close friends, students, or family read Hi, I Am EGO, what reactions surprised you the most? Did any of their interpretations make you see your own work differently?
A10. Each one talks about how it caused them to reflect on their personal life and understand it better. Most say they have referred the book to another whom they care for.
Q11. Could you share one behind-the-scenes moment from your writing journey, perhaps a breakthrough, a struggle, or a moment of silence that led to clarity?
A11. I would prefer not to talk about it – It is very personal. I have many times cried in gratitude.
Q12. Many people today feel trapped in patterns of stress, comparison, or constant dissatisfaction, which are often ego-driven. Based on your insights, what is the first practical step someone can take to begin freeing themselves from the ego’s grip?
A12. Daily planning and setting priorities of your four worlds. Constantly monitoring through the day as described in the book. The immediate result is a BIG sense of relief in realizing you have saved enough time for yourself.
Q13. After Hi, I Am EGO, what is next for you, Kalavar ji? Are you working on something new through Unlearn Living, or perhaps a continuation of these insights in another form?
A13. The first book was designed to provide an overview of life- its components and how they are interdependent. It also gives insight into what and why to do – so you become your own doctor – both mentally and physically.
The next book is meant for those who wish to dig deeper within. Each topic in the first book will be detailed in a simple understandable manner.
Q14. Finally, imagine a reader has just closed your book, sitting quietly and reflecting. If they were in front of you at that moment, what would you say to them, from one seeker to another?
A14. Nothing. Their relief and happy smile are enough.
