Polycom Group 500 Dubai is an incredibly powerful video conferencing system with features to enhance business communication. However, one of those powers is that sometimes it's hard to know how much you can actually do with the 500. That's why we're writing a small blog series about some of the useful 500 group posts you might be looking for. Today we are talking about the initial camera setup.

The camera preset saves you time and effort. Set the camera correctly once and you won't have to worry about zooming in and out again.

Keep the 500 Series camera's original settings

polycom Group 500 Dubai allows you to specify up to ten camera presets for both a close-up camera (in a room with a group 500 codec) and a remote camera (you have joined):

The default settings are stored near the camera and are easily accessible each time you start the system.

The remote camera default setting only takes the duration of the conference session.

For the purpose of this blog, we'll explain how to interact with the polycom Group 500 Dubai Reaction Team using the Polycom RealPresence Touch, a Capacitive Tablet Controller for the Polycom Group System. It can also be set using the remote control.

Because the Polycom group series has native integration with Microsoft Skype for Business, any set you create will work on Skype for Business conferences.

The Polycom Group 500 camera presets the camera, maintains zoom and orientation. The system is pre-installed with a neutral virtual camera, but it will not be perfect for your message.

To set a custom preset on your touch device:

  • Adjust the camera's orientation and zoom to suit the landscape
  • Click the camera in the bottom row: RealPresence Touch the camera icon
  • Then click on the preset
  • If you wish, you can name the initial setting
  • Then press X

Setting up the polycom Group 500 Dubai system was easy. The built-in codec can be installed under or behind the image / image screen shown above the screen and the Eagle Eye III camera. The infrared remote control and external power supply completed the package.

The Quick Launch Card and the initial Launch Connection are clearly documented and shared:

  • Install the camera next to the screen
  • Connect the camera cable to the camera and the codec
  • Connect the supplied HDMI-HDMI cable between the codec and the monitor
  • Connect the IP Ethernet network to the RJ45-RJ45 cable
  • Connect the external power supply to the codec

The setup system can be easily configured with an on-screen menu using a handheld remote control. These IP addresses, IP gateways, subnet masks, and gateway addresses are entered. Advanced setup advanced options are only available through the web interface.

Description Of The Hardware

Your code can be set in the display cabinet or next to the screen. Automatically equipped with a single 10/100/1000 Ethernet connection and capable of up to 6Mbps bandwidth, the system can display a maximum image resolution of up to 1080p @ 50 frames per second. The polycom Group 500 Dubai CODEC includes a cooling fan that produces some background noise.

The infrared remote control includes a rechargeable battery, the battery is charged by removing it from the remote control and connected to the USB port on the back of the codec.

There are several options available:

  • 1080p enhanced video
  • Polycom EagleEye Audio Camera
  • Multiply mcu

Evaluation systems included the polycom Group 500 Dubai EagleEye III imaging and tilt camera, Polycom EagleEye audio camera, advanced video 1080p and MCU. The EagleEye audio camera set the frame rate to 25 frames per second.

The screen is automatically rejected, has a resolution and aspect ratio, and can also be manually set from the web interface.

The main HDMI video output connection carries digital audio, but also provides a separate 3.5mm analog audio output connection. Additional audio input is facilitated by a 3.5mm stereo jack connector.

The polycom Group 500 Dubai supports seven video offerings, including:

  • The primary CIF resolution is 352 x 288 pixels.
  • wCIF (512 x 288).
  • w480p (848 x 480).
  • W720P HD (1280x720)
  • High Definition w1080p (1920 x 1080)
  • Requires enhanced video 1080p

In addition to the traditional picture-in-picture (PIP) display format, the codec also supports out-of-picture (POP) picture. This allows close and distant images to be displayed on the same image screen at the same time.
