Gangtok is the capital city of Sikkim and situated in North east part of India .It is located in the Eastern Himalayan Range at an elevation of 5,410ft.The city has a mixed population of Nepalese, Bhutias, and Lepchas.You can reach Gangtok by rail or air.The nearest railway link is New Jalpaiguri and by air is the Bagdogra airport.From Bagdogra, one has to take a taxi to Gangtok as it takes six hours by road.Recently the Pakyong Airport has become functional.The distance has lessened to an hour from Pakyong to Gangtok.Helicopter service is also available from Bagdogra to Gangtok.
