If you’ve been on Instagram recently, you’ll have noticed the massive push they’ve been having on a feature known as Instagram shopping. Compared with other social media platforms, sales professionals of all industries have had a problem with Instagram. Only being allowed a single link in your profile description, or the Swipe Up feature on accounts over 10k followers, the traditional method has always been direct customers to your website where you can then convert the lead into the sale.

However, instead of having your potential leads not bother clicking on your profile and then onto your website and then making their way through your website’s sales funnel, with Instagram Shopping, you can now secure sales directly through the app. It’s a feature all sales professionals need to take advantage of, especially with how popular it’s becoming.

With more than 1 billion monthly users, and 60% of users finding new products they’re actually interested in buying on Instagram, Shopping has a big, bright future ahead of it. Make it easy for them to discover and shop your products easier than ever before with Instagram shoppable posts!

Here's how.

Why Instagram Shopping?

Many companies (especially retail brands) utilize Instagram to gain more customers and reach more users every day (with 200 million users on the platform, and counting). Since 2017, Instagram has introduced new avenues where brands, companies, such as yours, can turn their profiles into virtual storefronts, an avenue no longer something reserved for websites and brick-and-mortar shops.

“Plus, you’ll be glad to know that 70% of shopping enthusiasts tend to use Instagram for product discovery; and, to make things even better, more than 130 million users would interact with a shopping post at least once a month” says Ben Morris, a marketer at Elite Assignment help and OX Essays

Therefore, with just a few steps, you can set up Instagram Shopping, and start selling.

How To Set Up

During setup, it can take a while for it to be up and running since you need to be eligible to apply to the feature. However, the wait isn’t too long; and setup is easy. You’ll be converting more sales in no time!

Consider this easy checklist:

  1.  Eligibility

Before setting up your Instagram Shopping account, your business needs to meet the following criteria:

  • Is your sales training business in a supported market?

  • Does your sales training business sell physical goods?

  • Does it comply with Instagram Shopping’s commerce policies?

  • Is your sales training Instagram a business account?

  • Is your sales training Instagram connected to a Facebook Page?

If you said “yes” to all of these questions, then you’re good to go.

  1.  Catalog Connecting

Next, you’ll be adding your products to the catalog. Once you’ve uploaded and catalogued your products, you’ll need to tag them. With that said, you can use one of two things:

  • Catalog Manager is for DIY people. You can create your own catalog by scratch, or you can connect to an existing one. Though, if you want to use product tags and stickers for your sales training courses, choose an E-Commerce Catalog.

  • Facebook Partner is for Instagrammers who aren’t able to set up a catalog on their own (there’s nothing to be ashamed of, since everyone needs a little help sometimes) Certified partners can help you set up a catalog that not only works, but also sells.

  1.  Create A Shopping Account

Once you connect your account to the catalog you just set up, sign up for Shopping via the Instagram app. There, you can submit your IG account for review. Just go to your profile's settings, tap Business, and then tap Instagram Shopping. There, you’ll need to follow the steps to make sure everything is all in good standing. After that, it’s a waiting game

“The review process usually takes a few days, but could take longer (depending on the platform’s time rate of looking through submissions). To check the status of your account review, you can always visit Shopping in Settings at any time” comments Robert Bennett, a project manager at State of writing and Revieweal.

Once you’ve been approved, Instagram will send you notifications. Then, you’ll be asked to complete set-up in Shopping in Settings.

  1.  Create Your First Story Or Post

Now that you’re open for business on Instagram Shopping, you can add product tags and stickers to your stories and posts. All you have to do is create a post as usual, and then tap Tag Products to add a product from your catalog. Tag Products lets you feature up to five products per image or video post, and up 20 products on multi-image posts. And as always, you can go back and add shopping tags to old posts on your business profile.

  1.  Check Out Insights

You can always visit the Insights tab in your business profile to see how your posts and stories are performing. Insights will show trends and numbers, in regard to what your customers might want, so that you can offer them more relevant content and products.

Finally, did you know that users will interact with Stories more than regular posts? No kidding! In fact, more than 500 million users are watching Instagram Stories every day. You can let customers browse your products by tagging a product per Instagram Story.

So, why not use that to your advantage?

First, upload your Story. Next, tap the sticker icon in the top-right corner. And then, select Product. From there, select a product from your catalog.

Just because you can sell your products on Instagram, doesn’t mean that there’s no work to be put into it. You would still need to create shoppable Instagram posts and Stories for your inventory.

And, as Instagram Shopping continues to grow momentum, with enough time, many places will implement it in their stores. So, why not jump on board, and start your Instagram Shopping account today? There’s never been a better time to do so.
