Writing is not for weaklings, it is not easy. Even the most prolific writers come across a shield of resistance. Here are some outpouring ideas to get the writing brain in full swing. But we initiate with grounds why writers come to a standstill.
Be the writer first; success shall follow.Q) Who can be a writer? If you can write, you are a writer.Q) How well do i write? No body will know, till the time you let people read your works. You have dared to write and offer a new idea to the world, that itself is the most beautiful act.Q) What if nobody reads? What difference does it makes. Previously, when your work was getting suffocated in your small diary in some shabby corner of your house, nobody read it. Still if nobody reads it, there is nothing lost.Q) When do i start writing? Now my friend now. Time is running out, life is too short to be wasted in thinking about unknown. A page a day keeps the doctor away. And always remember, if you are reading this blog and plan to write, do it without any doubts and inhibitions. You have been blessed by the almighty with the power of thinking and strength in expressing. Do not let it go for waste.
You rolled a dice and took your chance and now you come up with such a devastating idea with no escape. All writers wind up at an edge when they deviate from the path, their effort swerving off into unseen directions. Instead of allowing this to screw up your momentum, take a while to reevaluate your project.
Have you ever dreamt of being a successful writer with an unwavering audience waiting for your write ups to be published? Success won’t hit you like zephyr but would take time and commitment. It seems difficult because the aspirations are big enough to achieve. Writers want to fetch readers’ attention, touch people’s lives, leaving them overwhelmed.
You need to train your mind that you aren’t obstructed; you’re just tired. Give yourself a few days to really relax. Lie on a couch and watch movies, go on foot before dusk, or take a small peaceful vacation. Do so with the intent to give yourself—and your mind—a break, it really craves for. No thinking about your work for a few days!
In last few years, I have had the opportunity to work as a coach with many women leaders and women coaches. Many of them are ambitious and want to grow in their careers, but feel that they don’t have role models to look at. This point has also been raised quite a few times during the gender diversity discussions.I agree, and I think the whole world would acknowledge the lack of enough woman leaders. There is a lot of diversity buzz going on with a target to solve this problem, it will happen one day, but you do not have the luxury to wait. Come on. Don’t wait to look for the role model. Be the role model instead, fill in this vacuum and resolve the problem for others like you!Don’t know where to begin? Let me outline a few quick steps that can help you climb up the Career Ladder:1. Take charge - Tell yourself you are going to be the role model.2. Decide on your career goals – Ask yourself –a. What do you want to achieve in next 3 years?b. What do you achieve in next 1 year?c. What are the 3 things you need to this this quarter?d. What are the 3 things you need to do this month and next month?3. Decide on your other priorities (non-career) for short term specially – 6 months to 1 year.a. What are the other priorities/goals (from other spheres of life)?b. Prioritizing these goal/priorities, pick top 3.c. Make an action plan of what needs to be done for these.d. What can come in the way? Is there a conflict with your career goals? Just look at 1-year career goals.e. If yes, how well prepared you are to handle conflict of goals?f. List down if you need any external support?g. Enlist people who help you on your challenges! Remember, you have a support system that you can lean on!4. Create a list career enablersa. Get a Mentor at work (if possible multiple Mentors!) i. Seek people who can support you to achieve your goals.b. Create a Learning path i. Look for enabling assignments.c. Invest in yourself i. Take a training program. ii. Sign up a coach. iii. Hire a house help if that helps.Note down everything else that may help you to achieve your goals (Career and Non-Career) and then invest in every support system that will help you. 5. Create list of the relationships you need to createWhat relationships you would need to create to reach your goals? It may include creating a business connect with other head of departments, Industry body etc. You may need to create a stronger relationship with another friend/relative who can help you for a few hours on those child-sick days. You are the one who knows what goes here. 6. Create your elevator pitch!Always have a 60 second elevator pitch of what you do and what difference are you making in your current role. 7. Go and Act: Make an action plan for sure but don’t just plan and re-plan, Act! Else all will fail! Do some actionable every single day, even small progress is good progress. 8. Acknowledge yourselfa. Reward yourself for every small win.b. Be ready with a list of rewards for yourself if you completed what you need to do!c. You are your own motivation! You bet it is not easy, but know that every journey begins with the first step. Go ahead, take that first step and be the change you want to see.
It's possible you're actually facing an authentic dilemma with your thoughts, and with the accomplishment. And, you know, there's nothing incorrect with discarding a novel and starting once more. Often these obsolete half-ended novels act as a unique fertilizer for that awesome novel you're going to end up writing.
The only obsession to be in a good job, doing jobs and only jobs, getting better jobs in the good companies, the expectation to work in multi-national companies, dream to be in government jobs, to born, brought up and die with jobs are the acts of the jobholics. They can only see, think, imagine of doing jobs only, to work as paid employees only. I don’t have any problem with the jobs; after all, it gives me and us bread and butter. But, sometimes it hurts me when we are so highly obsessed with jobs that if we don’t get jobs we think it better to sit at home and eat away our parent’s money without thinking of alternatives. The parents are also equally responsible for making their children jobholics. So, the young generation can’t think or imagine a world without or beyond jobs. In absence of a job or with no-jobs they prefer to remain jobless and unemployed, but can’t go for alternative career options. We are born and brought up with such ideas, persuasions and when a child is born the parents start planning, “my son is going to be an engineer only, my daughter is going to be a doctor” and they spoon-feed their children to be doctors and Engineers only when there are a lot of options available, and what about their passions, their interests. I have seen many teenagers suffering from such problems. Some of my juniors have shared their unhappiness with me saying that “I wanted to be a banker, a singer, a painter, but our parents forced us to study Engineering which I don’t like at all”. In the later stage, they have left that Engineering jobs to start banking careers or they have joined the careers of their choices. I feel that parents should guide their children, encourage them to study hard, but they shouldn't impose on them what they supposed to be, it’s purely a personal decision. And the children should enjoy full freedom choosing the career of their preferences; allow them to grow with their dreams, passions, allow them to be a singer, a dancer, a painter, an actor, a teacher, an agropreneur and a journalist. If the children follow their passions and nurtured with their talents, skills, and passions they will grow and fly high and would be successful in life. It will make them happy from within and that is the true meaning of life. Then they will be able to contribute their best to the societySimilarly, job should not be the only option left to the children, the parents should encourage their children to be business tycoons, entrepreneurs, industrialists, not only to be the jobholders but also be the job creators and why 10am to 6 pm job only where no holidays, extra hours of work, non-cooperative colleagues, foul play by co-workers, diplomatic boss and handling all these we develop anxiety and stress which leads to fatal diseases among the youths these days. Long hours of sitting in front of the computers and working like machines make them diseased & unhealthy. Can’t we think of job creations, giving jobs to others? After all, we find that most of the successful people are among the top business tycoons like Tata, Birla, Ambani, and Adani who are big entrepreneurs. If they were thinking of doing jobs only they would not have created the most demanding huge jobs markets for the youths in India and abroad. We should come out of that stereotypes and not only to get jobs but also creating jobs for others should be our motto. In our country people have a typical mindset pertaining to jobs, they only know to give respect to people with high-level jobs and even if a businessman is earning much more than that person he doesn’t get the same respect from the people. Similarly, people with highly established jobs want their children to follow the same pattern even if their wards are not good at studies, if their children don’t get expected jobs and decide to start business careers they are mocked by their friends and relatives, i.e. “what? Son of Mr.X, going to sell clothes and I have seen this happening in my family also. We never appreciate the business, entrepreneurial activities, and the youths without getting any support from their parents and family members being frustrated, being stressed start doing all the wrong things. It not only leads to unemployment but also poverty. Entrepreneurship must be promoted, the parents must understand its significance, and youths must be oriented to follow it as alternative career options. One entrepreneur can give jobs to many unemployed youths. Like American teens don't get pressurized to follow a trend or a career path, our Indian teens should not be pressurized in any case. In America, they know each one of them is different from each other and they designed to do things differently. So they are free to choose their career paths. They do part-time jobs for running their expenditures and they don’t judge the work you do. But here parents will decide whether their children should go for Medical or Engineering. That is the reason they are called developed countries. Hence, in our country the youths should be encouraged to follow the careers of their choices, there should be no compulsions. Similarly, entrepreneurship must be promoted among the youths to make our country developed, rich, and to ensure adequate employment opportunities are available for the unemployed mass.
(Based on my personal research, March 2018)Throughout my journey, from an aspiring writer to be a contributor of 8, and being on contract for a debut solo; what I realized is that we all need a mentor. The one thing I wished I’d had when I was starting out as a coach, a mentor, a guide - someone who had braved the turbulent waters I was about to set sail on, and come out flourishing and thriving on the other side. In our information age, somebody needs to produce that information, and it can’t all be pictures or videos (try as YouTube might). Padma BhushanPadma Bhushan is known as the third highest civilian award in the Republic of India which was initiated by the Bharat Ratna and the Padma Vibushan which was followed by Padma Shri. The Padma Shri was inaugurated on 2 January 1954. It is given for the performance of a distinguished service of a high order without variation in caste, gender, position or sex. The award seeks to recognize the work of anyone has done work of achievements and distinction in the different fields and disciplines like trade industry, sports, art, medicine, education, public affairs and much more. The criteria for the award include services in an area that includes services rendered by the Government servants including scientists and doctors. Though, it doesn’t consider those working with the public sector undertakings. The Prime Minister constitutes the Padma Awards Committee every year and the award recommendations are submitted between 1 st May to 15 September by the union and state territory governments, the Ministers of Government of India, Chief Ministers, Members of Parliament, Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibushan awardees and other private individuals. The suggestions are further submitted to the Prime Minister and The President for further approval by the committee members. The Padma Bhushan awards are announced on the eve of Republic Day on 26th of January every year. The award recipients of Padma Bhushan are recorded in The Gazette of India, a publication that is released every week by the Department of Publication. This publication is used by the Ministry Of Urban Development for government official notices. The award conferral is not considered official without its declaration in The Gazette. The award recipient whose awards are restored or revoked is also registered in The Gazette. Such actions are taken by the Government of India and such awardees are to surrender their medals when and if their names are struck from the register. The original specification of the Padma Bhushan was a circle which was made of standard silver with rims on both side and a lotus flower was centrally located with Padma Bhushan engraved in Devanagari script. Later on, the award was modified to a circular shaped bronze toned medal where the lotus is carved on the obverse side of the medal and the word the Padma is placed above the word Bhushan below the lotus in Devanagari script. The emblem of India is also placed with the text Satyamev Jayate written in Devanagari script. In the past, the Padma Bhushan and other prestigious awards were only given by the recommendations of the politicians or ministers but the government has now made it open for nomination. The suggestions for the awards are received online on the portal padmaawards.gov.in which is drafted by the Ministry of Home Affairs. There are a lot of unacknowledged real-life heroes who have done exceptional works in their respective fields and deserved such a national honor and respect. The recipients of Padma Bhushan award include Rajesh Khanna, Jagjit Singh, Aamir Khan, R.K. Narayan, Naseeruddin Shah, Satyajit Ray, Ratan Tata and many more. Recently on 2nd April 2018 Mahendra Singh Dhoni, one of the most successful former captain of the Indian cricket team was conferred with the prestigious third highest civil honor, the Padma Bhushan. The award ceremony was coincidentally held on the seventh anniversary of the World Cup triumph, which turned out to be a happy coincidence for Dhoni. What brought the excitement to the next level is that the former captain of India who holds the rank of Honor Lieutenant Colonel was dressed up in his official military uniform and marched past the dignitaries who were present at the Rashtrapati Bhawan to receive the prestigious Padma Bhushan from President Ram Nath Kovind. The 37-year-old former Indian captain is the second Indian cricketer to receive this honor after Kapil Dev. Dhoni has received a lot of awards before which includes the ICC ODI player of the year award in 2008 and 2009, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 2007 and also the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honor in 2009. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, India won the 2011 ICC World Cup and also the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. He was also the first captain to win all three ICC limited over trophies and also led India to top of the rankings. Mahendra Singh Dhoni was nominated for the Padma Bhushan Awards by the BCCI with a unanimous decision for his excellent contribution in the field of cricket. Dhoni is considered as one of the most successful captains of the Indian Cricket Team. It was a very proud moment for all the Dhoni fans to watch him receive such a great honor. Along with Dhoni, Pankaj Advani was also awarded the prestigious Padma Bhushan on 2nd April 2007 at the Rashtrapati Bhawan by the President Ram Nath Kovind. Advani is considered as the best snooker/billiards player to come out of India. Advani has won eight world titles in as many years and a total of 19. Pankaj Advani was nominated by the Billiards and Snooker Foundation of India. He has also been awarded the Padma Shri in 2009, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 2006 and Arjuna Award in 2004. He has held Asian, World and Indian National Championship titles simultaneously. He is known as India’s first World Champion in the 6 red-snooker.However, some bestowals of Padma Bhushan have been returned or refused by the recipients due to national interest or personal reasons. The first person to refuse the Padma Bhushan was Sisir Kumar Bhaduri, Bengali theatre activists in 1959 due to personal reasons. Some famous refusals included Vilayat Khan, Romila Thapar, Sitara Devi, Salim Khan, and Phanishwarnath Renu. Padma Bhushan awards are renowned awards that are a given as a token of appreciation to the citizens of our country to glorify the work contributed by them and to inspire the future generations to thrive towards the progression of our country by excelling in their talents but we should also remember that the awards should not be taken as an outright rationale behind the work as it is the hard work and skill of an individual that is remembered.
StoryMirror interviewed Bringle Academy that are striking to bring a learning revolution. Here is what they have to say.Tell us about your journey and why BRINGLE started?India is relatively young as a nation with around 28 million youth population being added every year. There is a surge in the implementation of educational technologies for improving student learning. Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life: the means because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one's awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behaviour to understanding one's rights – and in the process help him/her evolve as a better citizen. Doubtless, education is the most powerful catalyst for social transformation. But child education cannot be done in isolation. Thus began the idea of bridging the gap between education and skills development in 2016. We strive to transform lessons into engaging student-centered, active learning experiences. We began our journey of combining technology with education at Thane, Maharashtra with one center. Our main focus was quaint computer courses and six sigma green and black belt courses. We found our purpose when a young adult with cerebral palsy joined us to learn computers. It was a challenging situation for us to alter our pedagogy and create a learning environment for him. Perhaps most importantly, educators should demonstrate a great deal of emotional support and patience and utilize effective teaching strategies for students with cerebral palsy. Providing positive academic feedback, assisting students in developing friendships with general education peers, and communicating frequently with parents and therapists are all ways that teachers can inspire confidence and success in students with cerebral palsy. Being a catalyst for a Cerebal Palsy dreamer to fulfill his dreams has been our biggest reward so far.Bringle Academy strives to bring a learning revolution, with our core philosophy of ‘Growing with Grace’, which can be achieved through self-improvement and skill enhancement. We constantly thrive on nature’s principal, that ‘learning never stops’, therefore our programs are designed for all age groups and professions.
